More for Mom: Living Your Whole and Holy Life

Rate this book
More for Mom will encourage women to stop believing the lie that more is needed from them, and start living with the truth that more is available for them. With real-life talk, humor and convicting biblical truths, Kristin Funston helps hard working mamas to look at each day and each facet of their life to discover what happens when they believe God has more for them than what they think the world needs from them. And what He has available is a whole and holy life, just waiting to be claimed-a salvation and day-to-day reality complete just as it is. The pieces of each mom's life-the work life, mom life, social life, etc.-are mended together through Christ to complete her one whole life, set apart because of Him. This book is a stepping stone to help working mothers reset their spiritual and emotional health, habits, and relationship with God. There are performance pressures at work, home, and mind-sets that affect a mom's ability to feel complete and live more closely aligned with God. This book includes the beginning steps for moms to walk in wholeness and holiness by asking God for more.

In "More for Mom" Kristin writes like she is your girlfriend sitting down to coffee. She weaves humor with huge helpings of truth throughout the book. "More for Mom" is a breathe of fresh air in a "should do more" "could do more" culture in which we live. She encourages moms to drop what they perceive they need to be and to depend on what has already been done FOR them, through Jesus. As I read the book, I felt myself exhaling expectations that I place on myself, and inhaled the more that is available to me in my current reality. I would encourage moms of all walks to read this must needed timely message!

This book has blessed me in so many ways. It has bothe encouraged and challenged me. For many years I would give and give but never took time to spend time with the Lord to restore my love tank. I need to be in His Word everyday in order to be the woman, wife, and mom He wants me to be. I want to live a holy life and Kristin gave ya some wonderful ways to become more holy as we live a life that is whole as well. I encourage you to get this book and I know it will be a blessing to all who read it.

I've been a mom now for over 2 decades. How I wish I had someone whispering the powerful words Kristin shares in the pages of this book while I was just starting motherhood! Even at this stage of life, with some of my kids already out of the nest, I found her book impacting my heart and how I look at holiness, my life, and the more God has for me. It's drawn me closer to Him, with a renewed purpose and focus. I'm looking for more of Him to get more of Him, seeking Jesus in the middle of my mess!

The timing of every chapter spoke to my heart and spirit. I would pick it up during a weary mom moment and there it was. Everything I needed to hear. It was like Kristin was sitting with me sharing her authentic experiences about motherhood. I love the bold truth Kristin speaks of motherhood and God's love for all of us. If you are a weary mom - allow Kristin to speak to your heart with God's grace.

This book is for moms... who give everything they are... to others. Family. Friends. Job. Community.

More for Moms is a huge helping hand to moms everywhere, helping them to accept that they can receive as well as give. No, it's not easy. Too many moms feel that they have to give way more than they receive. Learning to make time for yourself is well worth it.

Happy Reading!

More for Mom offers an honest and fresh perspective on Christian Motherhood. It emphasizes that we can’t pour from and empty cup, but we can be filled daily through our relationship with God. Good reminders and practical strategies to grow this relationship while keeping your sanity in this season of life. Wish I had these words spoken into my life during my kids toddler years.

This book is full of wisdom on how to not get lost in the craziness of motherhood. Kristin shares her message in a very easy way to understand and relate. She makes you feel like you are just having coffee with a friend and sharing a godly message. This book is definitely a must read.

This book is so encouraging for Moms who are trying to work and raise kids and are overwhelmed. Kristin is so encouraging and reminds us that with God at the center of our lives, there is more for us in the holiness of parenting than required from us if we only rely on the Lord. So good.

More for Mom is well written and a must-read. Did you know that Jesus provides more, even for the over-worked mom? It's ok to say no when needed. It's ok turn to other moms, not for comparison but for confirmation.

Kristin Funston's More for Mom definitely lives up to its name. The biblical foundation and humorous honesty is the perfect combination for joyful, yet at times demanding, season of life known as motherhood. Her ability to recognize and convey our worth as mothers rooted deeply in Christ and what He has already accomplished for us and in us was refreshing and truthfully the kick in the rear I needed. She reveals we are whole and holy and how we can fully enjoy these gifts given to us by asking for more.

More for Mom is a self-help lifestyle book about Christian parenting and Christian living. This book was good for encouraging ways to make time for God in your life and to lead by Jesus’ example of what it means to be a good friend, wife, mother, and more. However, I did find that it lacked a consistent direction or message. At some points the author is telling you that you need to give up volunteering as much and focus on your children and your own sanity but then at other points she tells us how she was she was pressured to watch a friend’s children even though she was overwhelmed with work assignments and her own children. At some points she stressed that it is important to simply your life and then at others stressed how we need to take on more to help others. Both can be true, but it left me a little confused as to the message of this book. Overall, it was a good book and I would recommend to fans of Christian parenting, self-help, mindfulness, and Christian living.

Special thanks to NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

Do you view the spiritual disciplines as daunting items to check off your list and get right? I sure did, until Kristin helped me realize that God uses them to give us more—not more pressures and demands on our time—but more strength and more peace. As a busy mom, I'm relieved that God isn't out to deplete us with added stress but desires to equip us for godly success. Here's to more life, through Christ!

Mom For Mom by Kristin Funston has been a huge encouragement for me as I raise 4 kiddo’s and keep my focus on Christ. They way she weaves scripture and quotes throughout the book is beautiful!
“I do believe we can learn to embrace the raw and messy and live a whole life now, not trying to find the next fix but navigating the essence of living wholly.” Beautiful words we as mothers can hold tightly too as we embrace the mom life and run for Jesus!

Many people who see this book title may assume that it is for women who are of child-bearing age. Well, I am many years past that time but it calls to me because I am deeply involved in the care of my five year-old granddaughter. It also speaks to me because I sometimes feel that I just can't get it all done. I know that I'm not alone because most of us experience heavy demands on our time and our busy lives can occur at any age! One of the chapters in More for Mom is titled "More Time" and the author discusses how to shift our time and energy back to Jesus. She also shows us how to use Biblical truths to gain a new perspective. Funston tells us that "The small pieces of our lives that seem separate from one another actually work together to complete who we are, because we have a Creator who speaks through our pieces from a place of true wholeness."

In another excerpt she shares Luke 12:23. Jesus tells his disciples that "For life is more than food, and the body is more than clothes". Funston reminds us that "Life is Who we allow to complete it, and our body is Who we allow to fill it". Wow!

More for Mom is filled with bible scripture and Funston's own personal experiences and it is a book that encourages, motivates and inspires. So, whether you are a twenty-something stay-at-home mother; a thirty-something mother with a career; or even a sixty-something grandmother who is once again in the mothering business---it doesn't matter because---this book is for you! More for Mom can help you can find truth and encourage you to find a way to enjoy a "whole and holy life".

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book but was under no obligation to post a positive review.

I have read a good number of books in an attempt to help gain some sort of wisdom or direction and I would say there is something special in More For Mom. Kristin has the God-given ability to speak right to you - right into your current situation - in the trenches of this crazy thing called motherhood. I have come away with so many truths, realizations, laughs and “aha” moments while reading her book! One of my favorite moments was when Kristin is talking about the need for more holiness in our world, the need for more holy people. She describes the need for, “More people who maybe aren‘t perfect but represent His perfection.” There are so many things highlighted in my book that I will continually revisit. Thank you Kristin! Thank you for sharing your life and insights with fellow moms on the same journey!

I read this book at the request of a friend. It was AWESOME! A wealth of honest information, things we all need to be reminded of, things we all should know but in our own business we forget. God's grace makes us whole and holy! Our own mindset that doing it and trying to be it all is not what it is all about, keeping Christ first and living in his image is how we live a whole and holy life.

Kristin keeps it real! She doesn't shame us and she reminds us of God's amazing Grade!

I can’t say enough about this book. It is funny, relatable and incredibly encouraging. Navigating motherhood is a lot, and some days, we feel like we are all alone. But this book reminded me that there is a community of women out there fighting the good fight with me!

What a fun, inspiring and helpful from Kristin.
I was able to read an advanced copy and I am glad I did.
Although the book is titled More For Moms, she writes for really, anyone that has a crazy busy life and wants to hear from someone who is in the trenches with you.

“If we are going to embrace this whole and holy life, we need to start working our minds out, intentionally bringing our thoughts, and therefore decisions and actions, into a more correct”.

This was a very well thought out book and I can honestly say to the moms out there looking for some comforting words, scripture and humor, to read this.

More for Mom – Living Your Whole and Holy Life wrote by Kristin Funston, is a book for us moms, no matter if you are a stay at home mom or a working mom, we all deal with pressures and worries! She has a great writing style, I liked how she interwove the important Truths of God’s Word and His promises into this book. Includes a few quotes from some of my favorite theologians! She reminds us of the importance of needing Christ in our life, not necessarily more to do. If you ever struggle with am I doing enough, should I be doing more, or maybe you are just depleted and don’t know what to do. Then pick up this book at your favorite book place. This book focuses on living for Christ, what holiness looks like for us here on earth, and why we often struggle with it.

I don’t read a lot of parenting or books that are geared just for moms, but sometimes I need an encouraging read. Similar to why I read books about homeschooling. To encourage me and to learn from others, maybe that person may offer something I have never thought of. I certainly don’t have it all together, nor want to appear I do, and sometimes I just need a push from someone else that has been there. That is what this book was for me!

I totally enjoyed this book and as a mother, grandmother, wife and daughter I often struggle to finish all I have put on my to do list. This list is often full of physical and emotionally draining expectations. I rarely stop to think about my dreams or all my life should be. Kristan asks, "Do we offer our whole selves to our people and our God rather than the leftovers from the day or week?" If you are like me, too often it is the leftovers. This book helps you to find a whole and holy life. I loved that Kristin gave personal real examples that brought the message to life for me. She does all of this while also having a great sense of humor and sharing her own faults and struggles. "When we allow regular life to interrupt the correct structure of priorities, we aren't living a life set apart from the rest of the world" I want my life to be an example of a life set apart from this world. I want to set this example for my children and grandchildren. I want to live a full and abundant life on a daily basis and I know this is possible through Jesus. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4) If you desire a whole and holy life and want to give your best to family and God, I suggest you read this book. You deserve the best!

As moms, we are constantly giving our all to everyone and their needs, but as a mom of 4, I often find myself depleted, exhausted and overwhelmed by all the needs I have to meet before my own. Kristin reminds us that God is with us, that he is here to give us the strength, encouragement and peace to help us decrease (and hopefully put an end to) our overwhelm by looking to him first. She weaves scripture and stories throughout the book to let us know that she's also a mom in the trenches while offering ways to help us lean deeper into our relationship with him. When we do, our load will become lighter because we no longer have to carry our burdens alone.

This book was so easy to read, I felt like I was reading the words of a best friend who knows how to tell me just like it is. And she’s not hiding behind all the chaos showing this perfect life, she’s putting real “work-hard-mama” life out there like it really is (at least for me) and gives realistic ways to incorporate more Jesus in the everyday and not just when it’s convenient. I highly recommend this book for any woman (not just moms) that may feel overwhelmed with fitting all the things in and checking off boxes just to pick up the next task.

More For Mom offers moms everywhere a chance to be refreshed in the presence of Jesus. Kristin offers practical ways that we, as busy moms, can fulfill our purpose and calling with grace and wholeness. Kristin offers examples from her life with candor. She offers a message of hope and processes through how to live holy and whole in our world today. More for Mom is a message that is much needed in a culture that tells us we must be everything to everyone. In this book we are encouraged to step back and plug in to what (or Who) really matters.

Kristin Funston’s book, “More for Mom” is a great, lighthearted – yet convicting read. She uses personal stories to tie in Biblical truths (and truths that hit directly at a mother’s heart). Her book reminds mothers that there is more for them than just the day-to-day mom life. She writes, “The small pieces of our lives that seem separate from one another actually work together to complete who we are, because we have a Creator who speaks through our pieces from a place of true wholeness.” I truly believe that mothers will find this book refreshing and the words on the pages will encourage them to seek out a “whole and holy mom life.”
