We’re back from Tokyo and I’m living with my dad. Zach is my dad… That’s still weird to admit out loud. Since we got back, the guys have treated me like I’m fragile. I am going to prove to them that I am stronger than they think. Maybe I’m crazy to sign up for torture training. Maybe I’m crazy to think I can survive Spy School. There are some things not even the boys can protect me from.
Toxic is book 3 in The Zara Chronicles.
The Zara Chronicles: Loyal (Book 1) Truth (Book 2) Toxic (Book 3) Trust (Book 4—coming October 2018!)
I'm Scarlett Haven. I write YA and NA books and I write a lot. My books are a fun mixture of romance, mystery, and now some paranormal too!
Besides writing, I also love to read anything I can get my hands on and I'm always drawn to the villain of the story. I am 29 years old and am married to the love of my life.
Another terrific read. This one is more about her relationships not only with the boys but also with her family (including all her dad's, siblings and mothers). She starting to explore the attraction she feels for the guys and perhaps going on dates with them. Moving into her father's house has also put her into closer contact with Zach and the work he's doing to see if there is a snake hidden in their midst. Classes are being added and all seems to be going well until there is something they didn't factor for - a break in.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
I really think the author's writing style will get better over time. As my rating so obviously states, it is ok right now. There's just something so as hay matter-of-fact wish about the storytelling, as if it's a textbook. Kind of dry and lacking in between the dialogue among characters...which results to lead feelings. On the other side, I just can't see past the 1-dinensional-ness of the characters. I think it's a side-effect to the writing style? And lastly, I don't appreciate how the guys insist the heroine to be completely honest with them but at the same time don't practice what they preach. Smh.
I love this storyline and the growing relationships Zara has with all the guys, but even more so, with Zach. Happy that she finally feels like she fits in and has a new family and that she’s safe. She’s progressing so well in school and has been given her first assignment. But this book kind of “ends”on a big cliffhanger. The author should have reversed the order of the last two sections of the book, or added another chapter break or something. The cliffhanger would have been so much more effective and made readers so much more anxious for the next book.
I just finished this book and can't wait to read more. This is the kind of book that you can't believe when you get to the end because you thought that you started only ten minutes ago.. time just flies by you... This story is so unique and the author just knows how to get you hooked up! I love how Zara and the boys develop their relationship and the way she thinks. Can't wait for the next one and I hope that Scarlett keeps this series going for a long time!
Toxic is the third instalment in the Zara Chronicles. This particular novella is a follow on from the last, obviously. The team returns to school, Zach continues to investigate who sabotage the plane, the guys have admitted they are falling in love with Zara, obviously not to Zara just yet, and we are left with a cliffhanger. Zara in the meantime is trying get to know her dad and deal with her complicated feelings towards her mum. The boys always have her back however.
I think I see the pattern the author is writing in now. The guys character development will be at the end of each book. As the series continues we will get to know them each a little bit better. The story development is pretty good still. Zara is a unique character that thinks outside the box. I really like her.
I loved this book. It had all the things i wanted in it and it gives you a better understanding of Zara. The only problem is that it is so short! Ideas this in one sitting and now I can't wait for the next one.
In this 3rd book you really get to know more about and fall in love with the characters and their families and it definitely leaves you excited for the next book!
I love the characters,in these books i just wish the books were longer, and why In the hell I decide to read this series when the next book doesn't come out until October, and it ends on a cliffhanger.
(To the author: My son had a concussion recently. If he is anything like a typical patient, you may have missed the mark on the recovery protocol, but thanks for the escape from reality with your fun series!)
I think Zara’s mom Inconsiderate, entitled . She’s hardly three for her yet she didn’t want her moving in with her dad. She also Gilts Zara and making her feel sorry for her mom. I’m kinda annoyed with the mom
I've really enjoyed this series. Can't wait until the next book. Hopefully I don't have too wait long! Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Just when things start to ramp up it ends. Still enjoying smart and spunky Zara and her guys. Still wishing these books were a bit longer but they are very good.
Wow I fell in love with the guys they are so cool. I wish I had friends like them. Spy school is really awesome. I liked the humor in this too. This is really good.
