For the record? Alex didn’t fall down the rabbit hole. She jumped. And that might have been a mistake. While fleeing her controlling asshole of an ex-fiance, Alexandra Kincade accidentally opens a portal to Wonderland. Yes, that Wonderland. But instead of a whimsical, colorful world of tarts and tea-parties, Alex finds a divided empire at the mercy of a sweeping darkness that’s painting the roses—and everything else—dead. As a descendant of the first Alice (yes, that Alice), Alex carries what might be the only magic powerful enough to save this crumbling world. Problem is, she can’t wield it alone. Enter the four kings of Wonderland. Each one is a different compliment to her power. And each one is desperate and willing to do whatever it takes to save their world—even if that means sharing Wonderland’s one true queen and her magic. But can Alex possibly be strong enough to save—and love— them all?

I generally love all things Alice in Wonderland, but this series was not for me.

The author lost me at the double betrayal and cliff hanger ending.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

So, since I rediscovered Wonderland and how much I missed it last week, I had to start a new series set in Wonderland. I had the collection with all three books in this series on my Kindle for quite some time already, but since I prefer reading paperbacks I decided to just get those too last week. And from the moment they arrived I could barely wait to get started. I had to finish a few review copies first though, but today I could finally dive in.

This version of Wonderland was amazing! To me Wonderland is a big playground and the thing I'm always looking forward to the most is what authors do with the world. Marie does an amazing job balancing both the things that we know from the original stories and adding loads of things of her own. Therefore Wonderland has the familiar feel, with the creatures we know and heard about, while it's also surprising, fresh and new.

And this book also reminded me how awesome it is when Wonderland hasn't just one King but four. Especially if you manage, like Marie, to make them all four different. Not that rarely I have time telling the guys apart, especially in the beginning, but I didn't have that issue here. The guys had unique character traits, unique backgrounds and they all shared such different moments with Alex that I very soon started falling for them too.

And although the plot in this book wasn't that complicated yet, I liked how the stakes were very high from the start. The first chapter already really grabbed me and I can't describe how I felt when reading the last chapter, my heart breaking in a million little pieces. And that's mostly because Alex is incredibly easy to like. She has something endearing, she feels realistic and she is strong and emotional at once. I can't wait to see how her journey and story continue!

this reverse harem retelling of alice in wonderland blew me away. You have Alexandra in a bad relationship whos about to married. Shes been on a medication, that her fiance's been giving to her but shes stop taking them. After fleeing in the middle of the night and being chased by him, a huge whole in the ground appears and 4 sexy men climb out. whats a girl to do.. go back with her horrible fiance or with 4 good looking strangers she doesnt really know.. turns out they make the choice for her and down the "rabbit hole" she goes. into a magical world she could only dream of. there she meets the men ad the go on quite a journey. theres laughs, theres a bit of steamy, and theres heart break and betrayal all wrapped into a beautiful story about finding who you truly are and standing up for what you believe in. the book leaves off in a cliffhanger but the second story is out and well get to find out even more.
this is a new author to me and i must say, shes one of my top favorites. so hurry and get a copy of this magical fairy tale, its highly recommended.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review but i also bought a copy after finishing my review version since i enjoyed it so much.

I really enjoyed this unique re-imagining of the Wonderland fantasy we all know so well. The story is well written and very creative, with well-defined, charismatic characters. I liked how the mythology of the Lewis Carroll stories was interwoven throughout this tale. I enjoyed the imagery of this Wonderland with its vibrant colours and magical, mystical happenings. I found the otherworldly (or possibly human?) malevolent entity that’s threatening the four kingdoms to be a worthy opponent with unique dark magical skills. There’s plenty of humour, sarcasm, witty banter, magic, action, adventure and suspense along with the slow burn of the blossoming romance between Alex and her kings to keep the story moving at a steady pace. The ending took me completely by surprise as I hadn’t even entertained that possibility. I’m eagerly looking forward to book two, ‘Betrayal of Hearts’.

This is another book based on Alice in Wonderland but takes place some time later. Alexandria has this guy, Bryce, who wants her to marry him. Turns out he's a shade, an evil being, trying to stop her from doing what she needs to do.

Which is to jump down a rabbit hole.

Turns out there are four kings in wonderland. There's also a major baddie who is placing all of wonderland under a spell of darkness. Few remain to resist him except the kings, a talking cat and a few others. Alexandria's task? Fix everything.

A number of things happen culminating in Alexandria getting into the ruins of Alice;s (the original) palace and talking to her ghost. Nothing will be easy, though, as there is a traitor in their midst.

This is the first book in a series. It's pretty good but not good enough to make me want to continue with the series.

So I totally wanna rate this a one star..... sigh. But I'll be mature and just say how much I hated this ending. Like, I wanted to throw my phone across the room disgusted. But... that is only because I was so engrossed in this and then so very let down! Alex is one phenomenal chick! She's so much stronger and fiercer than she knows! The four kings are utterly dreamy 💗 Together there is spunk, charm, wit, daring and a dangerous adventure! I love that straight away I absolutely despised Bryce!! He was so beautifully and perfectly evil. I loved all the twists and turns this contained. Learning of Alex's family history was very cool and a wonderfully detailed addition. I cannot wait to uncover more Wonderland fun and see who will come to the rescue! This is the first book that I've ever read from this author.

eArc provided by Booksprout... * My 1st book by Stefanie Marie *

This book has alot going on, lust, some fear and confusion, violence, even anger. (Alas no sexy time though) This book was a little bumpy for me, meaning, I had to put it down and then come back to it. So it took me alittle longer to read it then normal. Sometimes I liked the h but not always. And the H's seem kind of flat and stereotypical. Hopefully book #2 will even out the story some and lose some of the cliche' feel this book suffers from. This story has alot of potential -. Good editing, good story and characters that could really be great. And as of right now it is on KU. (Kindle Unlimited) {I love me some KU!!! ;P}

Annoying heroine

I had a really hard time reading this without comparing it to another, well-known Alice themed RH. If I hadn't read that series before this one I might have enjoyed it more. In all fairness, it stands on its own and the only similarities from in the orginal Alice story. But it still fell flat.

Alex is a whiney brat who I just could not like. She shakes and cries a ton in the beginning. Even when she starts to grow a backbone in the end, she's still not terribly likeable. She spends way too much time playing the victim.

I'm not sure how I'll feel about some of the other Alice RHs that have popped up recently but this one is a pass for me. I might read the enxtmone but only because this ended on a cliffhanger.

A new twist on the Alice in Wonderland theme (though starring her granddaughter Alex), I loved seeing the different characters and features of the original stories pop up in these new stories, while also experiencing the author's excellent creative talents.
This first book introduces us to Alex, her Kings, and the new world of Wonderland. It's a great story, with a thrilling ending. Can't wait to continue on with book 2!
So if you're a Lewis Carroll fan, like paranormal romance (of the reverse haram variety), or are just looking for something a bit different to read, why not try this series? You won't be disappointed.
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

First of all, I hated that cliffhanger. I was ready to throw my kindle across the room. How on earth can you leave people hanging like that! I need to read the next book before I lose my mind completely!
The story was actually different. I am not sure exactly what I was expecting, but it was definitely interesting and had me wanting more. The mystery in the book definitely got me extremely curious. I think this book is worth reading. The kings definitely were growing on me. I did hate what happened towards the end there, but I am going to read the next book to feed my curiosity.

Loved this book...but that cliffhanger! :(
Can completly relate to being in a relationship like the one with Bryce as having a similar experience myself so i know how it can mess with your head.
Loved the characters. The Cheshire Cat was spot on and there was a lot of humour. Its very rare i laugh out loud at books but i did find myself sniggering.
Usually prefer my books a lot darker but this was a fun read. I'm just disappointed i read it so fast. Cant wait for the next one

I'm hooked!

I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
O.M.F.G!! How good is this book?! I must admit I uuummed and aaaahed as it sounded more fantasy than I normally go for, before deciding to chance it, and boy am I sooooo glad I did! Yes, it is really fantasy based but somehow it doesn't seem O.T.T.
It really is so worth reading, I could not put it down. Just have to wait for the next one now as it was left on a cliffhanger.................................*taps foot and looks at watch*!! 😉

War of Hearts
A Reverse Harem Alice in Wonderland Story
Her Wonderland Kings Book 1
Stefanie Marie

Great story. I really liked it. I really hated the cliff hanger ending. I hate those in books without forewarning so I am giving you one here. Other than that it was good. Alex and her guys are definitely fun to read about, and will keep you entertained. I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book.

This is really great retelling of the Alice in Wonderland fairytale we know and loved as kids but with a brilliantly added adult addition. Alexandra is about to marry but decides to flee in the middle of the night after she stops taking the medication he has been giving her. While being chased by him a hole in the ground opens up and out come four super sexy men so what is a women supposed to do?

3 1/2 Stars Really...

This actually wasn’t a bad book at all. It started off a bit rocky and things seemed to be a bit wonky, but they eventually straightened out and picked up well.

I’ve developed a hate/love relationship with cliffhangers, so I’m very happy that the second book is already out since the cliffhanger at the end of this book gave me serious “What?????” face. You know the one I mean... lol

So here are my thoughts...

I really had to force myself to read this book, and don’t get me wrong there were certain parts that I loved. I just feel that this book was rushed and lacking in details. I felt like the reader was expected to just accept the storyline instead of being dragged in to believing it. The ending was off as well, and for me that is a pretty big indicator for whether I am going to read the next book in the series or not.

She goes to wonderland but she did not call down the rabbit hole she jumped into it to escape her ex. She is descended from the first Alice. Wonderland is not what she expected and she will need four kings to help her with her magic to save the land from dying. Can they do it? See if they can

A terrific retelling of the children's classic... adult style. Alex and her four kings. Hot and steamy. Unfortunately it ends on a cliffhanger, but book two is out and ready to go so that's good. New to this author and can't wait to read more by her.

This book was really fun! I enjoy Alice retellings a whole bunch and this was no exception. Sure it's cliché and corny sometimes, but that's what makes it work. I really enjoyed reading this and I look forward to reading the sequels, the plot twist was really nice and the ending leaves the story in a very interesting scenario to be explored in the next book. Highly recommended <3

Wow this book was absolutely amazing!! It definitely helped me threw my Alice in Wonderland paranormal RH addiction I have now! Unfortunately not many series are written in this theme, but I read this book in 1 sitting! I'm excited to jump into the next book because that cliffhanger absolutely broke my heart!!

and I'm intrigued by her Kings. I enjoyed seeing all of them grow a bit during this
book. I can't wait for book two - especially after that ending!

Different

This is definitely a different way to tell the Alice in Wonderland story. I loved the characters but I want to strangle one of the king's after that cliffhanger! A good read and I look forward to book 2.
