During her long history, Seven Sisters, an aging antebellum in Mobile, Alabama, has been home to many troubled souls. Some never want to leave it--even after they're dead. Including Isla Beaumont, the cast-off child of an affluent family, a girl no one wanted to admit existed. Until the Cottonwood family needed her. If you've read Seven Sisters, you probably think you know Isla's story...but do you really?
Ghost on a Swing is a Seven Sisters extra and can be read as a prequel.
As with all her books, Mrs Bullocks weaves her tales so much so that you feel like you are right there. The story line sucks you in and you can not put this book down.
This was a quick, easy listen that landed right in the middle for me. The spooky atmosphere was there, and I liked the eerie, mysterious tone throughout the story, but it felt more like a glimpse into a larger world than a fully developed story on its own.
The premise was interesting and definitely had moments that pulled me in, but I wanted a little more depth — more buildup, more tension, and a stronger emotional connection to the characters. Just when things started getting really intriguing, it felt like the story wrapped up too quickly.
That said, it worked well as a short, creepy read and kept me entertained for a couple of hours.
Final verdict: A solid, atmospheric novella that’s worth the listen if you want something quick and mildly spooky — enjoyable, but not quite memorable enough to stand out.
I never thought I would read a story that would give me any hint of sympathy towards Isla Beaumont, but here it is. I hope she does another one to round out the gap between the ending of this one and Isla becoming what we know her to be.

I started this book, after having read almost ALL of the M.L. Bullock series, and was, at first, a bit lost as to who I was reading about. It took me a few chapters to recall the story of Isla Baumont, but it connected and I could NOT put this book down. Literally, I started it one afternoon, read a few chapters, set it down, picked it up the next day and spent a solid 5 hours engrossed in the words, captured by the story, enchanted with the characters. A great read. I love Bullock's books and feel that I literally ingest them as they are produced and look forward to the next as the stories continue. I have a distinct feeling that we shall see Marvin again..and truth be told, I can not wait. I feel that there is some underlying thing there that we have not been told, a part of the story that has yet to be written. More please!
I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I think I would have liked this one better if I had read it closer to the rest of the books. It was good but I am unsure as to the reason behind wanting to explain Isla’s past to the readers...??? I can’t remember if there was something that I questioned at the end of the series? All in all it was good though.
Just when you think you know what happened to Lolly, no spoiler here. A quick read that keeps.your attention. As good as other books I have read by this autbor.
