This is quite an exceptional, well-written, intriguing book that just draws the reader in from start to finish. In addition, the emotional pull to the story is quite extraordinary. This is certainly a book I would have no hesitation in recommending.
McKenna has had a crush on Landon since childhood, hoping that when she turned 18, he might take an interest in her. That dream is dashed the day Landon’s father, Micah, dies, but McKenna is patient; she knows Landon is worth waiting for. When McKenna reads Landon’s journal, it changes everything between them and Landon chases McKenna away; she has seen him for what he really is and he cannot stand disappointing her. From an early age Landon and Dallas have always been rivals. When Micah is killed, Landon turns over Crown Security to Dallas, focusing on his own thriving company Enguard. Landon has been looking for his father’s killer for so long, not realising all along Dallas has been making sure he doesn’t get too close to the truth, and for good reason. McKenna cannot believe she is considering staying at Landon’s beach house. The opportunity is too good to ignore and she owes Landon an apology at the very least. As an author, all McKenna has to do is write the perfect book to get back on track again and Landon becomes her muse in all the best and worst ways. Working with Milah Holly is a good opportunity for Enguard; she is the next big starlet and very high profile, even if she has set her sights on Landon. Fortunately, McKenna steps in as Landon’s fake girlfriend and this time he has no intention of letting her go. McKenna will not be yet another person who lets Landon down, when so many have before, especially when he feels like he is letting himself down too. Landon wonders if Dallas might have ulterior motives for maneuvering his way into perimeter security for this contract with Milah, but how far will he go to eliminate the competition. Then again has five years of anger, confused hatred, loss, grief and vengeful fury all been for nothing all along. But what will Landon do when he finds his father’s killer and that man’s fate is at last in his hands; and will the outcome ultimately determine his future? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
