Family life and two very diverse careers later she now spends most days glued to a keyboard, which she refers to as her personal quality time.

'It's only when you know who you are that you truly understand what makes you happy - and writing about love, life and relationships makes me leap out of bed every morning!'

If she isn't online she's either playing with the kids, whose imaginations seem to know no bounds, or painting something. As a serial house mover together with her lovely husband, there is always a new challenge to keep her occupied!

Journalist Tia Armstrong has recently lost her mum. After taking time away from work she returns but still doesn’t feel ready to face the world. Her boss thinks that a small working holiday may be in order and sends her off to Holly Cove in South Wales, a small seaside town. The place is gorgeous, especially when a cleaner turns up telling Tia she is there to help her relax and that also she was surprised to see her at the cottage as the owner doesn’t normally rent it out.

Tia’s working holiday is to interview couples about how they keep their romance alive. She doesn’t particularly feel ready for meeting new people but knows that she can’t wallow forever.

This is the first book I have read by Lucy Coleman/Linn B Halton and I’m sure not going to make this the last. The book is just wonderful from the beginning – New York my favourite place in the world – to the very last page.

Throughout I had a lot of empathy for Tia. I remember only too well what it was like when my dad died, not long after Christmas 2016, as well as the falling out of the family afterward, just like Tia’s brother.

The character development was just perfect and whilst the plot unfolded slowly, I believe this is a book that needed to be devoured rather than read quickly.

I love books set at Christmas and can’t get enough of them, they really are heartwarming and this is no different. I completely lost myself whilst submerged in the story, the whole way through I was fully engaged and I didn’t want it to end.

This is a must read and one of the best books of 2018.

5☆ A Warm and Cosy read filled with Emotion and Love

Snowflakes Over Holly Cove is a heart warming story filled with emotion, relationships, love, grief and new beginnings.

Tia has just lost her mum, she thinks she is ready to face the world again, so heads back to work.

Tia's boss decides to send Tia on a mini work vacation to write about relationships, keeping relationships alive and fresh.
She's to interview several different couples for her next article.
But is this the right time for Tia to be setting off and delving into work?
Only time will tell!!!

Tia is about to embark on a heart warming adventure, as she meets new people, makes new friends, shares stories, learns to deal with grief, and finds potential romance. All the while staying in a beautifully charming Cottage in Holly Cove.

I really warmed to Tia, she has a big heart, dealing with her grief and juggling her work, I adored her determination and strength.

The characters were well written and engaging. The pace flowed along nicely and it was a breeze to read.
The storyline was warm, emotional, compassionate, A few lil twists, real issues, romance and a lil drama. The perfect mix.
I have to say I did get a lil choked up, it bought back powerful memories of my Nan as she was just as close to me as my Mum. So be warned you might want to keep a tissue handy just in case!

Although the cover and title suggest a real wintery feel, I definitely think you can read this anytime of the year. A perfectly warm and cosy read.
I would definitely recommend.

Thank you to Rachel Random Resources for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Favorite Quotes:

‘We have a problem.’ Really?... Clarissa’s expression is always the same, probably because of the amount of Botox she’s had and I’m not being bitchy here. It’s a fact. There is never a huge smile, or a desolate frown, just an almost unbelievably perfect, wrinkle-free complexion that belies her age.

Death is a journey for both parties; those who pass over and those who are left behind.

My Review:

This lovely book was thoughtfully and poignantly penned. Written from a first-person POV, Ms. Coleman’s emotive and highly insightful prose was highly descriptive and lushly detailed; each scene was thoroughly set to engage and captivate all the senses while sparking vivid visuals in my mind’s eye. The storylines were relevant and intriguing and cast with curiously endearing yet highly flawed characters. It was heart-squeezing, exceptionally perceptive, and simply divine.

A fun, feel good, festive read, that will leave you feeling happy, hopeful, And craving hot chocolate!❄️

This truly was a beautiful story that evoked every emotion possible in me.... a story that put a big smile on my face and left me wanting to visit South Wales... visit, I’m not sure if the weather is to my liking, but it sure does sound like a lovely place to visit, if you’re cuddled up in front of a roaring fire with that cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows of course!

Tia has lost her mother and is struggling to get her life back together... her boss sees that she is struggling and sends her on assignment to Holly Cove a Village in South Wales.... Tia is a reporter for a lifestyle magazine and her assignment is to write an article on three different happy couples... so will all this love help Tia find a true love of her own?

In spite of some of the more serious storylines this really is a feel-good story... Tia is a relatable and likable character you really want the best for.... The residence of this charming village are quirky, interesting, and delightful! The Romance was sweet, although perhaps a little quick...

A perfect holiday read to put you in the festive holiday spirit!

This book had been an unexpected pleasure. Instead of the Christmas story I have imagined, this turned out to be salty sun filled tale looking toward the warmth of Christmas and of new beginnings. Not a light-hearted romance but a poignant story of loss, heartbreak and slow mending of broken family bonds. Every word leaps out of the page and we are slowly lured into the tale until we are glued to the kindle till we reach the end.

For me, it had been a rather slow read as every page demanded to be savoured with due diligence and I enjoyed each moment of reading. It was soothing and comforting at best and Tia's life felt so alive. Her punctual and meticulous life made me ashamed of my exercise schedule and I have already made a decision to order my life a bit starting with taking some fitness measures.

The mystery surrounding Nic and Max kept the book alive throughout and the thriving community especially the presence of Olwen in the house was a welcome addition. Altogether a delightful tale of love, family and friendship that is a perfect addition to the Christmas shelf.

Tia is a lifestyle journalist for “Love A Happy Ending” magazine. She has been struggling emotionally following the recent death of her mum. Tia’s boss Clarissa is concerned for and decides that Tia’s next assignment can be done at a little cottage at Holly Cove. A picturesque setting on the Gower coast in Wales was just the thing Tia needed.

This is the first time I have written anything by this author and I absolutely loved this book. It is a beautiful story of relationships within families as well as finding love. This theme is something that is mirrored in Tia’s assignment as she is tasked with writing articles about how couples and families celebrate Christmas and the New Year. As she is working for a magazine the articles are written months in advance, so there is a span between the assignment and Christmas.

This will be Tia’s first Christmas with her Mum and she knows it will be hard. Tia has a brother and is they have just been getting back to familiar ground after a disagreement left them not speaking for a few years. Christmas is a time for family and being together, not everyone is able to do this for various reasons.

While at the cottage Tia meets Nic, and does he have the weight of the world on his shoulders. He initially comes across as moody, but actually, he and Tia seem to have a few similarities. As he divulges little snippets about his life and how he is reluctant to trust people, she can see that she also has the same issue. Then there is Max, an ex-serviceman who has decided that a simple life is the way to go. The mother hen of this little group is Olwen fussing and keeping an eye on everyone is what she does best.

This is a fabulously addictive book that looks at families and relationships and the challenges that can appear. Allegations can be made and they can cause rifts, sometimes a moment to see another person’s perspective or just to listen to the other side of an argument is a way to understand the whole story.

With its wonderful setting descriptions of cottages, rugged beaches and a wonderful cast of characters bring some great imagery and a feeling of warmth. The characters are wonderful and I got the chance to see the different sides to certain individuals.

This is a book I could have happily read in one sitting and is an author I am definitely going to be reading again.

I adored this book from the start and although it came to a natural ending that felt complete, I couldn’t help feeling a little sad that I had actually turned the last page. A story that would appeal to readers who like to delve into family life, relationships, misunderstandings, and romance and is a really wonderful festive uplifting read and one I would highly recommend.

Being such a huge fan of Lucy/Linn’s writing it comes as no surprise to find me leaping to put my hand up when this blog tour was looking for reviewers. Just one peek at the cover makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Lucy has the perfect way of introducing her characters by always leaving a smidgen behind that encourages you to keep reading to see how they will develop. The atmospheric scene is set, the descriptions of the people involved are perfect. This time a journalist has been sent to the little cottage by the sea, Tia is after a story capturing the thoughts and feelings of couples on keeping their love alive during the festive season.

This could be a challenging article, Tia has only recently returned to work after bereavement leave following the death of her mother. She throws herself into the project and soon becomes friends with the locals as she goes about day by living.

While this is ultimately a tale of love around Christmas it also involves feelings of loss and grief, it’s quite a fine line to tread. I could sense her tensions mounting as the deadline approaches but can also relate to how relaxing and calming the sea air and tranquillity can be.

This is an ideal story to read in the run up to Christmas to give it that extra edge but it will work wonderfully during any season. I really felt at home in the village and didn’t want to leave when the time came. This is absolutely ideal for anyone who wants to read an emotional story with the brightness of love showing through.

Thanks to the author, publisher, netgalley and Rachel from Random Resources. I read and resewed voluntarily.

The Blurb :
As the snowflakes start to fall, Holly Cove welcomes a new tenant to the beautiful old cottage on the beach...
For lifestyle magazine journalist Tia Armstrong, relationships, as well as Christmas, have lost all their magic. Yet Tia is up against a Christmas deadline for her latest article 'Love is, actually, all around...'
So, Tia heads to Holly Cove where the restorative sea air and rugged stranger, Nic, slowly but surely start mending her broken heart.
Tia didn't expect a white Christmas, and she certainly never dared dream that all her Christmas wishes might just come true...

My Thoughts :
I have to say that this has such a beautiful cover, with a snow capped tree and a cottage in the background this will have anyone reaching for it on a cold winters evening.
Although starting off this is set in the spring time it soon changes as we read on.
We meet Journalist Tia Armstrong, Tia’s mum has recently passed away and although she is back at work she is far from ready. Tia is sent to Beach View Cottage in Holly Cove, Wales for 6 weeks by her boss to rest and take some time out. She has an article to write about love and relationships and is on a deadline. As Tia settles into life and writing her article, she makes friends with the locals including Olwen, Nic and Max. Will Tia get her happy ever after or is this trip all about work and no play.
We are in for a few surprises long the way as well as flashbacks to previous christmas’s.
I am a huge fan of Linn Halton/Lucy Coleman, so this didnt surprise me to be another beautiful book. She has a way of captivating the reader right into the moment and making us feel part of the story and that the charactors are friends.
This is not just a story of romance but a story of coping with grief, emotions, second chances and new beginnings. Hope we get to see more fantastic writing in the furture.

Lucy Coleman has done it again, written a book so filled with warmth amidst the biting cold of the snow that I could do nothing but follow the trails as pages turned.

Tia had lost her mother and her love for Christmas. But thanks to her boss, she had to interview couples in Holly Cove to know how they kept their romance alive. And Tia was struggling with life…

My second book by Lucy Coleman, I loved everything in this book. There were moments when I had a lump in my throat for Tia. She shared such a warm relationship with her mother. The writing showed the emotions between them, I could feel their bond.

Tia was everything I wanted in my main character. She was going through so much pain, yet she found her inner strength to deal with it. Her determination shone in the book along with her loving nature. All credit to the author for etching her.

Lucy Coleman’s strength was in her words. Every word was rightly placed. The imagery they produced transported me to the cottage and people of Holly Cove. The emotions they evoked caused me to feel everything that Tia did. The characters drafted in this plot were real and people I would want to meet.

The road of the story was not all straight. There was drama and twists, romance and friendship, all shades of life. All I was left with at the end of the read was – What a beautiful way to start my day.

I read the book over toast and tea which got done soon, but a tiny flame of hope sparked in my heart which stayed with me the whole day. Read a Lucy Coleman when the heart is heavy. It deals with real issues but leaves a warmth behind.

I had no idea, until I read ‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’, that a mere ONE word could be the culprit of my eyes casually leaking. I know….it’s funny how much emotion the word ‘eggnog’ has, isn’t it? Yes, I am being serious. The word ‘eggnog’ made me burst into tears. I’m still not too sure whether my tears were because the word reminded me of what it actually tastes like, even though I have never had eggnog pass my lips, or whether it was because…..oh, heck. I can’t tell you can I? Many of you may associate eggnog with Christmas, so the fact that it is in a Christmas book may not come as a surprise to some. However, if you’re a soppy date like me, ‘eggnog’ may not be just for Christmas. You’ll see what I mean when you read the book….I hope.

Anyway, eggnog aside, ‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’ is such a stunning read, so much so that I felt so bereft when the book came to an end. I wasn’t emotionally read to leave Tia and co behind at all. I would really love for Tia or Olweyn, or even Max, to come back again in another story as their personalities and life stories are so giving, I would love to be in their company once again. Plus, I’m very nosy and I don’t think these characters have let all of their skeletons out of the closets yet.

Tia hasn’t exactly had a calm few months and, when she returns to work, she can’t help but feel bewildered by the job her boss has sent her on. Did her boss even pay attention to what has happened in Tia’s life recently? Does she even care?

Despite her reservations, Tia begins the job with an open mind and ends up getting more than she bargained for. Maybe her boss did good after all?

‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’ is a book which just kept on giving. Every time I turned the page I was surrounded by yet another laugh out loud event, or a situation which made me stop to gather my thoughts – reading this book was like waking up on Christmas morning to see if Santa had been. The excitement of what lay beneath each page rivalling the excitement of what lay underneath the Christmas wrapping paper left by Santa. Feeling loved by fictional characters just like being loved by good ol’ Saint Nic. The excitement of not knowing what was a round the corner, just like the excitement when reaching for every new present. Everything about this book was just…..perfection, without a doubt.

Lucy Coleman’s story telling where ‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’ is concerned, has raised the bar extremely high for future novels. This author doesn’t just write words and expect her readers to imagine the Christmas magic or the deep rooted emotion, instead she writes the emotion from her own heart as though she has endured similar. Story telling of this calibre cannot be taught, you either have it or you don’t, and it is pretty clear that Lucy Coleman has that beautiful magic flowing from her mind through to her fingertips.

As I said above, a certain word made me burst into tears and whilst I can sit back and giggle about it now, my heart broke at the time because I had become incredibly invested in Tia and her life, I felt my own sense of loss for that character.

If only the feelings of love, serenity and goodwill could be bottle, I would be one extremely happy lady. I couldn’t have wished for a better book to read when my own life is crashing down on me, and I felt the love from the characters seep into my mind like the first coffee of the morning. In my eyes, this is exactly why I love reading, because of books like this.

A humbling, emotional, poignant, touching novel which wrapped my heart in a cosy rug whilst also making me cry because of the eggnog – what more could a girl want?

I just loved this book. When I was contacted by Aria, my first thought was "Yes, Lucy Coleman is BACK!" I absolutely adored A French Adventure, her previous book as I felt like I was whisked off to France and my mind was flooded with past holidays holidays there. That was wonderfully summery.

Now, we have Snowflakes over Holly cove. Tia Armstrong hasn't been lucky in life revently. Her mother just passed away and she is feeling at a loose end. She's a journalist at a magazine and has tried to come back to work after some time off. She can't settle though and needs a change of scene. Needs to get away from everything in hectic London.

She ends up at Beach View Cottage on the idyllic Gower Peninsula, in south Wales, a place I fell in love with after a field trip with my A'level Geography class and near to where I ended up studying during time at Swansea University.

I identified with Tia's personality right from the start. I felt she was likeable, had a good sense of humor as well as a realistic approach to finding her work/ life balance (although it is understandable that she lusts after other people's lives, we all do to some degree). I also share her love of hot chocolate with marshmallows, because what's a seasonal story without that? I was happy at the mention of Nicholas Sparks' The Notebook at the cottage as I also loved that book.

Snowflakes over Holly Cove is a sweet story that you will never want to end. Nic the taxi driver was a real character and I felt that I was swwept along on Tia's journey. This is what I enjoy about Lucy Coleman's writing. She has the ability to detail things so vividly and the pace of the story is exquisite. It's really natural, too with things people would do in real life when discovering a new area.

It's a journey physically, but also a journey of finding yourself. 5 stars.

Thanks to Lucy Coleman and Aria for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review and of course my place on the blog tour for this beautiful title.

Where do I start with what has to be one of my favourite festive stories ever?! Beautifully depicted, with characters that will swallow up your heart, it is difficult to put into words just how special SNOWFLAKES OVER HOLLY COVE by Lucy Coleman really is but I will try.

Tia Armstrong has lost her mum, the one constant person in her world, and is struggling to get back into the swing of her old life. So when her boss gives her an assignment in the quiet seaside town of Holly Cove, she jumps at the chance to escape her memories and throw herself into writing this article which centres around love and all the different ways it can be kept alive. It is not long before Tia makes new friends, from the housekeeper to the man living on the beach, and even the handsome owner of the beach cottage where she is staying. As Tia settles into her new role she starts to see the true meaning of love and friendship but like all things in life it is rarely plain sailing, and with plenty of misunderstandings and strong emotions at play, will Tia find what she needs to move on and be happy?

The setting is sublime and the author has a real knack for painting the perfect picture for the reader. I loved all of the characters in this story and would love to see more from them in the future, and I found myself reading the final chapters quite slowly because I didn't want to leave them behind when I turned the last page. There are moments that will make you laugh out loud and there are moments where you will be scrambling for the tissues, but there will never be a moment where you regret picking up this book.

SNOWFLAKES OVER HOLLY COVE by Lucy Coleman is everything you want and more from a novel, not just a Christmas novel, and I highly recommend it to fiction fans the world over. I can't wait to read what's next from Lucy Coleman!

A sublime Christmas story in a gorgeous setting - warm and wonderful!

Tia Armstrong is a journalist for a lifestyle magazine and, with a pressing deadline for her latest assignment for the festive editions, she has the opportunity to spend five weeks in a rural setting to allow her to achieve what she needs to. Arriving at her destination, she finds herself in a beautifully renovated cottage with a sea view - can this place calm her troubled soul?

This is a book with a firm story line and plenty going on; as Tia settles in her temporary home she begins to meet several locals and finds that, for the most part, it's a small and friendly community. The descriptions of the scenery are very visual, leaving the reader with a clear picture of the area. The setting of the Gower Coast is beautifully described and comes across as totally picturesque. It's not an area I'm familiar with at all, but it sounds like a stunning location to live - even if only in the short term!

The characters are skilfully created from all walks of life and are, without exception, completely believable. This is a cleverl y woven story with a good mix of people and it certainly kept me hooked to the very last page. If you're looking for the glow of Christmas without the traditional elements, you will find it in this thoroughly enjoyable read. A special mention has to go to the fabulous cover - it's just perfect. Heartily recommended read from an author who has been put on my 'must not miss' list!

My thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for not only providing my copy, but also inviting me to take part in this blog tour. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.

As we get ever closer to Christmas I find myself feeling ready to get stuck into the Christmas books so where better to start than the fabulous Lucy Colman’s offering.

When Tia set off to a seaside work location I had so many questions about where she came from, her job and what her current situation was. Nic was another mysterious character who had me coming up with all sorts of theories about his history and I was keen to find out more about both of them.

Occasionally Tia would say or do something that made me feel negatively towards her but by the end she had found her way to my heart. For me, the unexpected star of the story was Olwen. I found myself drawn to her and always looking forward to her next scene and wise words.

The storyline was thought-provoking and, at times, emotional. The romance was meaningful, I definitely feel like most people would be able to relate to some part of it especially as it covered a variety of relationship situations. Love and life featured heavily making this a book that causes you to stop and think. A nerve wracking twist towards the end had me holding my breath and hoping for a good outcome.

The descriptive writing style meant that I was able to visualise each scene and location easily. I almost could have been there alongside Tia as she explored the Gower Coast, escaping to the seaside every time I picked up my Kindle was wonderful!

This was a treat of a read that was made for curling up on the sofa with.

My first book by this author and it keep my attention the whole way through. It was a kind of Chrismassy story but not really. The story itself felt like opening the door to a store filled with emotions.

The author takes you on a journey from sadness to happiness, from falling out to making peace, from broken hearts to happy ever afters, from strangers to friends, from silence to conversations. She adds some unexpected spins to keep you entertained even more.

It was fluently written and I really liked the writing style. For me it had one big message : you can't stop love. When it creeps upon you, you can only do one thing : welcome it with open arms and enjoy. 5 stars.

Thank you, Lucy Coleman and RachelsRandomResources.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and Aria in exchange for an honest review. This book started out slow. It picks up at the end and has an interesting story plot, but the beginning is so slow. It also doesn’t have much about Christmas until the end.

*Heartwarming*

This story was not fast paced but, it was gentle and it warmed my heart. I worked out what was going to happen and I enjoyed the process of how it all came together.

We have Tia a lifestyle magazine journalist. She had a very close bond with her mother who sadly passed away which rocked her world. It also broke the relationship she had with her brother. She had some time away from work and is slowly easing herself back into a routine.

Her boss decides to send her on an assignment which means travelling to Caswell Bay. It sounds like a wonderful place if you want to have complete peace. It is on the Gower Coast in Wales.

Her boss has sorted out all the accommodation as she has contacts there…. Who is the contact?…..

Tia has to interview couples all virtually, as her boss has set up all the interviews, it is now up to Tia to make it work for the magazine.

Tia has never been lucky in love and she used to adore Christmas but with the loss of her Mother things are going to be very bleak. Ironically her article is called ‘Love is, actually, all around’

On arrival to Wales the taxi driver is not the most welcoming and unbeknownst to Tia they both share a broken heart for different reasons.

As the story unfolds, we witness the start of a tentative friendship for Tia. This is something she has never ever experienced. She has not prepared for the emotions that go along with the possibility of more….. Will it be reciprocated? Is there a possibility of a relationship with her brother and his family?

Then, something happens that makes everyone take stock of what is dear to their hearts…..

Tia is in Holly Cove to recover, after losing her mother grief has overwhelmed her and when she’s finally ready to go back to work her boss gives her a project that should lift her spirits. Tia works for a lifestyle magazine and has to write an article about love. It’s something Tia hasn’t found for herself yet, but maybe a change of scenery will bring her more than just comfort and a refreshed outlook on life.

Tia stays at a beautiful cosy cottage that belongs to Nic. Nic is a heartbroken man, who slowly comes to life again when he spends time with his new guest. They both know what it’s like to feel sad, but together they are finally able to find some joy as well. Will Tia’s stay in Holly Cove be successful? She makes friends and loves the beach, but does that mean her heart will heal and will she be able to start looking at the future instead of at the past. Will the holiday season get its magic back?

Snowflakes Over Holly Cove is a beautiful heartwarming story. I loved Tia, she’s sweet, caring and smart. She’s also honest and not afraid to talk to people. She easily makes new friends and I liked her accessible personality a lot. Tia is exactly what Holly Cove needs, Nic in particular. Tia tries to make things better for him, but by letting him help himself instead of doing it for him. That was such a wonderful thing to witness. They’re amazing together, everything just fits. They have such a gorgeous connection, but there are plenty of obstacles to overcome and many feelings to get through, so nothing about the future is sure yet. That kept me on the edge of my seat, I loved every single page of their adventure.

Lucy Coleman’s writing has a terrific natural flow. I find it easy to lose myself in her stories and especially like the skillful way she creates an atmosphere. Every description is exactly right and each twist feels completely right, while it’s still surprising and unexpected. Snowflakes Over Holly Cove is romantic and thought-provoking. It’s about the good and the bad that can happen in life and how to deal with it. I really enjoyed reading this gem of a book and highly recommend it.

I'm a great fan of Linn/Lucy's work and particularly enjoyed The French Adventure.  In Snowflakes over Holly Cove, journalist Tia has been sent on an assignment by her boss Clarissa who has arranged a six week let at Beach View Cottage in Holly Cove near The Mumbles. Tia has just returned to work following her mother's death and a month's bereavement leave.  Her project is to interview couples for an article which shows how they keep love alive in their relationships and their thoughts on Christmas and New Year Her arrival in Holly Cove sees her getting to know the local community. Among them, Olwen, who calls in with food deliveries and keeps the cottage clean, Nic, who rented her the cottage and Max Hartington, a retired man who lives in a wooden hut on the beach and spends a lot of his time fishing.  Sharing barbequed fish with Max she learns of his life in the Navy and the broken relationship he has with his family. Tia also learns that Nic, too has left London nursing a broken heart and when one of the interviewees backs out Tia decides asking Nic to replace them, thinking it would give the interview another dimension; one of moving on and looking ahead after getting over a broken relationship.

This is a well crafted story with some surprises -  and yes, I did actually guess one of them.  There are other things in the mix too - deception, misunderstandings, reconciliation and, of course, love.  Lucy's writing makes it easy to immerse yourself in this small community and its individuals each with their own story to tell.

It's a real feel good read which will go down well, especially for those who enjoy the added bonus of Christmas in a story.

I read and reviewed Lucy Coleman’s first book called ‘The French Adventure’ earlier on this year. I loved the book and I eagerly looked forward to her next book. Well the wait is over because she released ‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’ on the 18th September 2018. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy and when I did get a copy, I dove straight in and began to read. Blimey oh riley, I thought that ‘The French Adventure’ was good but ‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’ is even better. I absolutely loved it but more about that in a bit.
I can honestly say that I took to the character of Tia Armstrong from the moment I started reading. I empathised with Tia too. She loses her mother, who is her only surviving parent, not long before Christmas. Although I still have my Mam (thank goodness), we lost my father a fortnight before Christmas several years ago and so I could totally understand where she was coming from with her grief and confused feelings. She returns to work four weeks after her mother’s death and she doesn’t feel that she is ready to return. I got the sense that she wondered how life could go on around her as normal when she is hurting so badly and her world has been shattered. That’s exactly how I felt. She is sent on a work assignment to Holly Cove and she has a fast approaching deadline for an article about love and relationships. I was hoping and keeping everything crossed that Tia would give herself time and space to heal, that she would stop being so hard on herself and that she would find true happiness and love. As to whether or not she managed to achieve all that, well you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out because I am not going to tell you.
Oh my days, this was one seriously good book. The story is beautifully and sensitively written and I felt the emotions that the characters were feeling. I think that because I identified with Tia over the loss of a parent, her emotions affected me more than the other characters. I frequently found myself developing a lump in my throat as well as welling up with tears as the story triggered memories of my own past. However, more often than not, I was left with a smile on my face and a happy, warm feeling.
‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’ is brilliantly written. The author certainly knows how to grab your attention from the beginning and her writing style is such that she keeps your attention throughout the book. The book is written in the present day but there are flashbacks to previous Christmases. This way of telling the tale works really well and the story flows seamlessly. The characters are so realistically written that they seemed to jump off the pages and come alive. I literally began to think of some of them as friends and I cared about what happened to them. At times I did begin to ‘interact’ with the book. Before anybody says anything, I know ‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’ is fiction but it is so well and realistically written that I felt myself begin to ‘live’ the story and interact with the characters as if they can hear me.
Reading ‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’ certainly felt like an emotional rollercoaster ride of a read. There were highs and lows, shocks and surprises, moments of happiness and sadness and much, much more.
In short I adored reading ‘Snowflakes Over Holly Cove’ and for me, it’s the best of Lucy’s books so far. I can’t wait to read what she comes up with next. Lucy Coleman is right up there on my most favourite and must read authors. I wholeheartedly recommend that you pick up one of her books as soon as you can. You won’t regret it. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Tia Armstrong, journalist for a lifestyle magazine, is returning to work after compassionate leave following the death of her mother. She’s given the chance of an assignment that will run in the November, December and January issues, covering different types of relationships. Despite still struggling, missing her mother and her estranged brother and his family, Tia realises life must go on and she has to earn a living. The upside is she will be based in a charming cottage on the Gower coast set near the very real Caswell Bay in South Wales for six weeks, conducting her interviews via Skype. Perhaps her icy, efficient boss has a heart after all!

'Clearly, Clarissa has never lost a close loved one. Come to think of it, does Clarissa actually have any close loved ones? All she ever talks about is work, but although she doesn’t wear a wedding ring I suppose that it’s not inconceivable she has a partner. Or is it? It’s hard to think of a sentence in which the words Clarissa and emotion would sit well together.'

Although the gorgeous cover gives the impression this is a Christmas story, it actually encompasses most of the year. There are poignant flashbacks to past Christmases, which makes it easy to understand why the coming season holds no appeal for Tia. But Beach View Cottage and Holly Cove begin to work their magic, and I can see why. I love the setting (and its residents.) Tia finds a friend in Olwen, who runs a small cleaning business in the village and has been hired as housekeeper for the duration of her visit.

I really enjoyed this book, the easy to read writing style and the well defined, likeable characters. It was easy to empathise with them, especially Tia. Snowflakes Over Holly Cove isn’t just a straightforward romance as things, and people, aren’t always quite what they seem. There are surprises, danger and unexpected twists which add depth and substance to the storyline.

A lovely, feel good read that includes some significant and relevant topics which we can all relate to in some measure—family arguments and misunderstandings, death, dealing with loss, uncertainty about the future—and how these issues are dealt with and resolved.

I chose to read and review Snowflakes Over Holly Cove based on a digital copy supplied by Brook Cottage Books and the author/publisher.

Tia is a journalist for a lifestyle magazine. She needs to restore herself both mentally and physically after tragedy strikes and her boss decides to send her off on a six-week writing project to Caswell Bay on the Welsh coast. Beach View Cottage is an idyllic and remote rented cottage with a sea view. Tia can spend her days writing and taking long walks on the breathtaking beach right next to the cottage.

Lucy Coleman describes the stunning location of Holly Cove to perfection. If you close your eyes you can almost feel the crisp, salty, sea air on your face.
Tia makes friends with people from the local village and starts to settle into her completely new way of life. It's clear that the other residents have secrets, they seem guarded at first but gradually their stories unfold.

The assignment that Tia has been given is to explore different types of relationships and discover how people like to celebrate Christmas. Tia finds herself reminiscing about Christmas's past, happy family times and people who are no longer around.

It was inspirational that Tia didn't shy away from discussing other people's happiness even though the subject caused her personal heartbreak.
I loved the way that Beach View Cottage was decorated for Christmas with tree branches, holly, mistletoe, and driftwood collected from the beach and woods. Each garland handcrafted with love by visitors to the cottage.

Snowflakes over Holly Cove is an amazing novel about heartache, loss, regeneration, and hope. There are at least two twists and a suspenseful conclusion, just the right amount of romance and lots and lots of snow!

It is an emotional and uplifting read and a wonderful reminder of the true spirit of Christmas.

Thank you to NetGalley, Aria Books and Lucy Coleman for the ARC ebook copy to review. As always, an honest review from me.

My rating is actually 4.5 stars, but since there aren't half stars I always round up.

Please transport me to Holly Cove right now! The beauty and unpredictability of the ocean, the picturesque views, kind people, and relaxing atmosphere is amazing. It sounds like the perfect place for me.

Tia is sent to Holly Cove by her boss months before the holiday season. She works at a magazine that’s planning to feature couples in love in a series of articles around the holiday season. Tia’s also had a rough time in her personal life and even had to take time off of work. She’s given six weeks to relax, recharge and also interview the couples/create all of the magazine content. It’s a sweet gesture by her boss, but is it only that?

I loved the people in Holly Cove. They’re nice, introverted, private and a little awkward but mean well. All in all, they’re my kind of people. The setting is gorgeous beyond gorgeous. Seriously, take me there! The relationships are slowly revealed over time, unravelling the nuances and hurt from many years.

The book is so lovely. However, if I’m being nit picky, Tia’s relationship with Nic was not surprising, but the readers needed more hints as to what she was thinking. It seemed to happen quickly, even though it didn’t.

All in all, Snowflakes Over Holly Cove is a wonderful book to read anytime of year. The holiday season will make it extra special. I definitely recommend this cozy relaxing read.

If, like me, you're a reader who likes to empathise with the story's characters, feel every emotion, and experience something magical as you turn the pages this is the story for you.

Christmas has always been important to Tia, even when her life is hard, Christmas is time to celebrate and escape. After the death of her mother, Tia struggles to come to terms with her loss. Her job is busy, and she hopes this will get her through the grief that threatens to destroy her. Her latest assignment has her living in a picture perfect cottage by the sea, the setting is breathtaking, and straight away she feels its healing presence. Life gets complicated, and she still has Christmas to face, but will Tia emerge stronger at the end of this experience?

The vividly described coastal setting comes alive the first time Tia visits the beach you can feel the sea spray on your face and appreciate the power of the sea. The characters are varied and realistically portrayed, you can imagine having a conversation with them. The perfectly orchestrated romance is lovely and gentle and full of magic in this poignant, story of coming to terms with life's setbacks and valuing family and friendships. There are many lighthearted moments to offset the heartaches, rather like life itself.

A festive read that you can enjoy all year long with characters to treasure in a perfect Christmas card setting.

I received a copy of this book from Aria via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

When life-style writer Tia is sent out of London on an assignment by her usually stone-cold boss, to a remote and small seaside town in South Wales. Tia finds herself in the beautiful beach haven of Holly Cove cottage. The perfect place for some quiet reflection and to come to terms with her loss.

However soon the locals make her feel so welcome she begins to feel at home. When she meets Nic they get off to an ice cold start and things are frosty between them. Will things begin to thaw out before Christmas, or will it take a little help from the spirit of Christmas for a little romance?

Cosy up for Christmas as the long nights draw in with a beautiful heart-warming and romantic storyline about overcoming loss and learning to live life and love again.
