I’m sure many of you have already read tons of articles or blogs on the internet about freelancing or freelance work available online. But how many of you have considered making freelancing as your full-time job?
Well, the authors of the book Pyjama Profit talks about their perception towards a Freelance career as a full-time job. The book gives a good understanding of the working environment under freelancing aspect. Also, the authors share their rich experience in freelancing and thus providing the basics of the whole freelancing affair.
Pyjama Profit is a little informative book giving out valuable freelancing guidance and telling about the essence of how to learn a skill, communicating the value, about bidding and proposals, personal branding and sending personalized emails.
The book also covers briefing of pyjama categories which could be followed as a freelance career choice. And to enhance the specific skills, list of online courses that could be learned has also been accounted in the book.
The authors have also included their start-up journey in the book providing their outlook on how freelancing helped in kick-starting their career.
In nutshell, the book has some very good points to offer.
What was Good
• The information given in the book is quite useful and constructive.
• The people who blog and are on the lookout for some freelancing guide, then this book is really a good help.
• The book does offer quite good information which you must not have read elsewhere.
What wasn’t Good
• The book was too short to guide you completely on the relevant subject.
• I felt that the last three-four chapters were quite irrelevant in the context of Freelancing. Well, the relevant part of the book winds up in around ninety-six pages. I wished that the authors have given out more elaboration in the case of pyjama categories.
• Further, the book has a lot of statistical information instead of pertinent freelance material.

Ever heard of a book which tells you step wise how to go about your career? No? Well then what are you waiting for, 'Pyjama profit' is the book you need if you're a freelancer or want to start freelancing.
I have been meaning to expand my network to do more freelance work and thanks to this book I actually have an idea which I can follow. Mayya and Chhikara, the debut authors started their freelancing career while they were in college and out of their goodwill they have noted their journey of freelancing in this book and sent it to the world to take notice, making this a very original work.
The writing is effortless, and systematic. The book itself is a short read because everything is to the point. I have read so many vague articles about freelancing online that I was skeptic while picking this book up, but I was proved wrong.
This book shows you the right direction but you'll have to make your own path. It's a very practical account and approach which I think anyone not interested in a 9 to 5 job should understand. It has all the statistics to convince you to start freelancing!
In a nutshell, it is a non-ficiton book which will give you a push in the right direction of freelancing.

A "crash course" in freelancing. That's what I'd call this book.
The authors talk about the basics, their own story, what worked for them in their experimentation and how a beginner can apply that in the real world.
It talks about every topic in brief - be it finding what to do or email tips. It talks about things in brief - however, some topics deserve to be talked about in more details - that's why I gave this 4/5 star.
But I'm sure the ones reading this book are reading other resources as well, and diving deep into what excites them - so I'd say this book's a great starting point for beginners who want to be freelancers.
Give it a read, it won't take long.

Although it is succinctly written, I found the first half of the book slightly redundant. Listing out online courses and mentioning links in a book that cannot be updated as frequently as said courses seem counter-productive. However, the book offers some pretty nifty information and redeems itself in the second half. Personally, I feel the same content could've been summarised in a 20 minute Youtube video.

From changing outlook of our society about freelance work to talking about dealing with the fear, insecurities and uncertainties that are associated with this line of career. It is a very informative piece of work outlining all that you need to know and all that you choose to forget.
Varun Mayya and Abhinav Chhikara talk about the platform, social financial stability and the challenges faced in freelance work. It is more like a guidebook of sorts taking about how to engage in various singular projects which may end you up in something beautiful of your own. In today's age where freelance is the way to go it is very important that we do know the how, what, when and where of it.
It proves a point that it isn't just a 9 to 5 job that will have you pointed in the right direction but you may make every way your own despite the obstacles in your way. You have to believe in yourself and in the end like they say,
Learn to love your job, success be right behind.

As a millennial with a 9-5 job cum a part-time #freelancer, this book added so much sense and I could very well resonate with whatever methods it was leading me into. The book elucidated with facts on how you can achieve the art of making a successful career in freelancing, and this made me want to give up my 9-5 job and do away with just freelancing. (Yes, for real). The debut authors Varun Mayya & Abhinav Chhikara gives us a complete glimpse of how life as a freelancer can help you stabilise your financial ground and how you can explore one ambition without the fear of getting fired or tired (#fact). It also talk about the author's decision in taking up freelancing as a full-time profession and how they attained great success by working from the comfort of their home. Pyjama Profit is a step to step guidebook which will up-skill readers on how to sustain an income via freelancing and (who knows?) in the midst of taking up projects you might end with starting off your own venture/brand, just like the authors did. The book gave me a clear perceptive on how freelancing is quite demanding in this technological era and it is possible to achieve immeasurable success without the pain of going through a full-time job- which include marketing, content writing, design and web development etc.

Book is divided into 12 chapters by authors covering all the aspects of the freelancing game in detail. Book covers journey of freelancing gig, right from the initial problems faced by a newbie to specifics of freelancing platforms to managing your personal finances. There are chapters which specifically tells reader about trending (and which are about to remain trending for at least next 10 years) new skills, the need for keep updating yourself with new skills as things are getting automated and goal setting. At last authors have mentioned their short start-up (Jobspire) story which they started in their final year in engineering college.

This book is a great first-step-guide to the world of freelancing, or even entrepreneurship. It is concise and fairly well written. Varun lists down and explains the importance of developing a few different skills that are essential for anyone who aspires to become a good freelancer.
