The Witch's Consorts #5

Consort of Light

Rate this book
In the last few months, I've faced more danger with the five men I'm not supposed to love than most people encounter in a lifetime. And it's not over yet. Our enemies have unleashed a threat greater than anyone in witching society could have believed possible.

How do I fight back when we're up against forces that could destroy our entire world? I wasn't prepared for this. But the monsters we're taking on are about to find out that Rose Hallowell doesn't give up. Even if it means asking more of my consorts than I hoped I’d ever need to.

I have to believe we can come through the darkness into the light. All I know for sure is there's no turning back now.

*This is the final book in the Witch's Consort series.*

In the final installment, Rose has to face down a demon. With the ending of book 4, Rose is free from her oath with the Frankfords and can reveal everything that has been happening. Unfortunately, a demon breaks through the portal and Rose and the rest of the witches must figure out how to send it back.

The reveal in this book was meh. This series started off strong for me, but kind of lost interest for me as it kept going. It was still a good series overall. This installment felt particularly repetitive with Rose constantly going up against the demon. I did like seeing Rose interact with other witches including her cousin Naomi. She needs more friends outside of her guys!

Overall, glad I read this series, it was fun.

I think I was expecting a more explosive end than what was delivered. I’ve still enjoyed the book and the series. I’m glad they got rid of the demon and managed to close the portal for good but after all these books and buildup I guess I just wanted to be more Wow’d. It could also do with the fact that the epilogue was lacking and this series really deserved a more descriptive HEA for them all.
It was nice to see the Rose and her harem all back together. It was even sweeter to watch her other guys hate on Gabriel for leaving like he did, playing enemy and hurting Rose. Then again losing their friend hurt just as much to them and they were hesitant in accepting him back in fully.
Roses conception being manipulated by the demons was so creepy and a cool point that I hadn’t thought about. I do wonder why she was the ‘only one’ with such a connection to the demons though 🤷🏼‍♀️ I mean her dad was a real piece of work and my heart still hurts for Rose. Thinking for so long she had a happy childhood and a loving father but that in reality was so not the case.
I’m glad there were those in the Assembly that didn’t chastise her and trusted her even if it was with much hesitation. Her demon connection is what made her so strong. Honestly I think she’s safer now having used much of her power on the portal and thus losing it because otherwise there would just be more out to use her and control her power. She’s always have to watch her back or worse her men’s backs. With the portal extinguished there’s really no reason for her to have all that power and now she can just be an ordinary yet trendsetting witch with multiple non-magic consorts. I really do wish there was an extended or “x” years later epilogue. It would have made my heart happy 🥰🥰 Really enjoyed the concept of the story. I really loved the fact that Rose was so powerful that for a change, her men had to stay behind while she went off to save the world so she wouldn’t be distracted by their safety. Girl power 😂😂🙋🏽‍♀️

To be honest i thought this fell flat. I had lost the thrill of this story. The ending saved it but there was way too much filler to keep me interested in the book. I liked the idea that in the end she was different and that is why she had so many consort and why her spark was bigger.

3.5 for the whole series. I listened to the audiobook version and they were easy to get through with a decent plot and a good amount of spice

I bought all Eva's books on both Kindle and Audible - the narrators she chooses are awesome (and with Audible I can take it with me no matter what I am doing e.g. cooking, tidying or working etc).

This is book 5 of the series and centres around a breach into the demon world, that it seems only Rose and her consorts can save the day! I had worried this was where an otherwise good cohesive story might diversify too much and become unplausible (she says knowing this is a book based around a RH witch romance!!) as sometimes stories can go on too long but I actually preferred this book to book 3 or 4. Rose is so fragile yet strong, so open yet holds back her worry and fear to support those around her. How she manages to save the day broke my heart, only she would be willing to do that, but that is what the found books have built her to be, from childhood to the end she is a badass that has and will always undoubtably put others first, an altruist with the biggest heart.

Also, I kind of want to keep Damon in my own book-based harem forever, dangerous yet so loyal, so brave and my fave of these wonders.

DNF, the series should have ended with book 4. The last book draws out what should have been one chapter into an entire book. I mean, how long much filler can a person possibly put into a book? I tried to at least skim read to the end, but I couldn’t even find enough enthusiasm to do that.

Consort of Light is the fifth and final book in the Witch's Consorts series. Eva has done a good job with this new adult reverse harem. The series is filled with romance, literal magic and adventure. Rose is a witch, who is caring, loving and kind and when she reconnected with the five male childhood friends she had no idea that it would lead to this.

I loved every minute of Consort of Light. I devoured this book so quickly I would read it any time I could get my hands on it. The books picks up right were Consort of Fire left off and Rose and the guys are in for a lot of trouble. The Frankfords rogue faction of witches have been caught but that was just the beginning because their pet demon got lose and is now roaming around free in this world. The Assembly has called Rose in for assistance and Rose is bring her consorts with her because with the demon roaming around it isn't just a witch problem it's everyone problem when it starts destroying everything in it's wake.

The plot of every book has been leading up to Consort of Light, you can feel all the emotions and it made for a very good read. Rose has so much on her shoulders and when a secret from her father's past is put into light it causes Rose a whole lot more problems. Also the prejudices that the witching community has against unsparked consorts are very clear in this one. The dislike for Rose and the guys relationship is very clear from some members and that is also causing a problem. Rose and the guys are constantly defending themselves while trying to work with the Assembly members in order to come up with solutions to the demon problem.

Rose is taking on a lot, being one of the strongest witches the Assembly is depending a lot on Rose plus she and Thaila seem to be the only ones that are also consider with the witches the rogue faction used in their demon summoning plot. Plus Rose is also worrying about her guys considering all the dirty looks they have been getting. It's a lot to bare but she has really stepped-up to become a leader and to challenge people when she thinks they are making a mistake.

Just like in the previous books, each one of Rose's consorts gets at least one chapter told from his pov. I love see the witching world through the guys eyes and to see how much they not only care about Rose but each other. More and more of their personality is show and I feel that it just adds something extra to the story. I got to see each one with their own personal struggle and growth. How Eva manage to do that with just one or two chapters I don't know but she really did an amazing job.

Consort of Light was a thrilling conclusion to the story. I loved the relationship between Rose and her family and Rose and her consorts. The relationships between everyone was very important in this series and I think that some people don't really expect that when talking about a reverse harem. This book was filled with family and friends, action, romance, fights and danger. I really enjoyed this series and I am looking forward to reading more from Eva.

I received an advance review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Well I can definitely say that this final instalment was an improvement compared to the last one. We pick up pretty much the exact same place the last one ended, with the discovery that a demon is on the loose and the Assembly needs Rose's help stopping it. There was a lot revealed in this one that I can tell was planned from the very beginning, so it was nice to see some of the little loose threads from the previous books come together. And I have to say, I didn't see the ending coming. It wasn't a huge surprise, and upon reflection it made sense, but a surprise it was nonetheless. Sometimes those types of surprises are actually better, cause it provides a sense of 'oh wow. Didn't see that coming' but isn't so completely surprising that it's jarring. And there was actually action for more than 10% of the book! Yay!

That being said, however, I did find this book rather repetitive and predictable in a sense. It sort of followed a basic pattern: discuss the situation, feel frustration, come up with a plan, implement the plan, failure, rinse and repeat. Yes, the situation escalated, but the basic layout was the same. I also found the writing quality to be a little lacklustre at times, like I didn't really believe the conviction the characters were supposedly feeling. And in this book more than the others, I found some of the guys to be kind of irrelevant. They were just sort of there and didn't really do anything, which is kind of the trouble with having 6 main characters. It can be hard to find a way to make all of them have some kind of contribution, and the end result is usually that some become unnecessary. I also had issues with their depth. When there are so many main characters, you have to work on making them all have their own distinct personalities, and I feel like in the case the author did this by focusing and amplifying one specific aspect of their personality. While this made them all separate from each other, it also left them rather two dimensional, which only contributed to their uselessness.

All of that aside, I was satisfied with how this series ended, and would definitely recommend giving the first book a go (if you haven't already and you're not all that bothered by reverse harem). There are some really interesting power dynamics at play, the plot being completely unique, and for the most part Eva Chase is able to deliver a quality novel that you can easily disappear into for a couple of hours.

I have to admit that I wasn't entirely sure if I was gonna like this last book. Don't get me wrong, Eva Chase always delivers high quality books, but simply not all of them are my taste, especially when the fantasy gets a little extreme. The third book in this series wasn't really my thing and since the demons would take a centre position in the last book, I was not that eager to get started. But I'm not gonna leave a series unfinished, of course.

Luckily I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would! One of my favorite things in books is intelligent characters, intelligent plots and intelligent villains and this book in a way had them all, surprisingly so. There was a lot of scheming, there were a lot of politics and all the characters had to step out of their comfort zone and had to find characteristics in themselves not coming naturally to succeed in the end.

Especially Rose is confronted with quite a rollercoaster in this book. I love however how that rollercoaster explained so many small questions I still had after the first four books. It was as if the last pieces of the puzzle made the entire story, her entire character arc and everything about her fall into place. With that last little bit of information we could really understand Rose, her magic and how she had become who she is.

Her guys also have some hard work to do in this book. They mostly have to convince the people in charge that having consorts without magic is not a bad thing and that they still have a lot to offer to the witching community and the problems the witching community is confronted with. And, I really love how Damon finally gets his moment to shine, to be the center of attention and to do something truly heroic. Despite the small dip in the third book I'm gonna miss this harem.

What a nice and fitting end to the reverse harem series. Rose and her guys, while still coming to grips with their relationship and trying to grow as a unit, are still embroiled in the struggle with being accepted by the witching community and trying to save the world from the unleashed demon roaming the land.
There were some parts that seemed to drag a bit - the constant waiting around, trying an attack, failing, sitting around some more and trying to dig up more background. I understand … it would not be realistic that the good guys win at the first try, the struggle increases the anticipation...but some parts? Maybe the waiting around seems needed a little more oomph somehow and wouldn't have seemed as laborious.
That being said, when everyone started to reach within themselves and become more, become other that their usual or the expected, the scenes just started popping. And maybe that is what the story was leading up to...finding a way to stretch beyond your comfort zone and become more, all while being true to yourself and those you love.
This series is truly entertaining...I'll hate to see Rose, Gabriel, Jin, Kyler, Seth and Damon go but wish them well

Finally we reach the last book!! This was filled with conflict and frustrations. Rose is up against an evil fiend and her guys are busy going up to bat for her. This had such a touching conclusion that just seemed so fitting. We saw some differing of opinions as to her unique consorting that gave the plot the continued boost it had taken from the prior books. I was thrilled to see some of Rose's family in this! We saw her father and you can't come away from this not hoping that there is more to his story and the reasoning as to why he did the evil things that he did. I have been really intrigued as to how the Spark works throughout this series. The way it is practiced is very unique! Ms. Chase created one entertaining and complicated series that keeps you wondering what awaits the reader on the next page. Her particular versions of RH are always so plot driven, the story really does matter 💖💖💖💖

In this last book of the series Rose Hallowell and her consorts would be justified in thinking they deserve a quiet life, but first they need to do what they can to stop forces that want to destroy the world - time for the inexperienced Rose to show them that she is more resourceful than anyone expects and will never give up. Can her consorts give anymore of themselves and will they defeat the threat?

Wow - this was an explosive ending to the series. It was certainly even more dramatic than the previous books as everything worked towards a crescendo that left me both relieved and delighted at the end result. Everything had a great build up which teased me and then surprised me with the way the result finally occurred. Well written, I really enjoyed it and was addicted to the point that I could NOT put it down until I knew the result of the current situation. I loved the little twists that would appear just when you thought you had worked out everything out.

I blew through this series.

I love the actual idea and plot outline- witches & magic exist but normal people have no clue. Only women in the witch bloodlines can make magic. After they’ve found their consort, before a certain age. There’s basically a witch government that watches over the witches. The MC finds proof that at one time, witches had more than one consort (intro to the reverse harem set up in the story).

I think it could’ve been paced a little better. It all felt so rushed, reintroduced to her BFFs from child/teen yrs and now they’re consorted. Make it months vs. days, maybe? And be a little more detailed.

I love the romance/erotic genre...when it has a great storyline. I want to be immersed into the story and find the romance hot. Lately, I’m not finding many authors who can write with that balance.....a book I’d read without the sex scenes, because the story/characters are that compelling. I guess I’ll keep searching.

The final installment of the Consort series picks up where the last one left off. Rose and her guys along with the witching community ban together to fight the greatest threat of their lives. They need all the power they can muster to save all of humanity from the threat that will destroy everything they love. I do think this was a great addition to the series but I do feel that the last two books could've been combined to form a more compact story. That said, it kept my interest throughout and though it had plot twists that I figured out prior to this book the situation fit into the story well and helped finalize the commitment that Rose and her guys have for her and each other. Normally I don't prefer over 4 men in a reverse harem book but in this case and with Eva's storytelling I think it worked and I truly do love her writing. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Consort of Light by Eva Chase is a reverse harem paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Aletha George and Tristan James. This is the fifth book in The Witch's Consorts series.

I loved the relationship between Rose, Kyler, Seth, Damon, Jin, and Gabriel. They have had so much thrown at them over the course of the series, but I couldn't help but root for them. I liked getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait to jump into the final book in the series Mark of Damon which is a novella set a year down the road.

Tristan and Aletha did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this series if you're looking for a paranormal romance, fantasy romance, or why choose romance.

This was a great finale book for the series. Rose and her consorts are in the fight of their life, and the lives of everyone on earth - sparked and unpacked.

One of the demons has broken out of its realm and is now in ours. The witching community has called on Rose to help them get rid of it. She and her consorts travel to Portland to join in the fight. As their sparked/unsparked multiple consort mating is not sanctioned, the group has prejudice to deal with also. Rose will learn an ugly truth about her conception, and the group will face a frightening monster that seems to be unstoppable. Find out what sacrifices must be made to keep the world safe.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary

A spectacular end to a spectacular series! I can't believe this is the last book in the series but it was an amazing journey while it lasted! Rose and her men have been summoned to The Authority building to help. They must fight for people to listen to them and do their best to prove they are "worthy" of helping. Things come to a final boil and when it is down to the last chance everyone in the witching community looks to Rose to save the day. (No Pressure right??)

Without major spoilers, I can't really tell you how much I enjoyed reading this book and the entire series!

I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.

What a fantastic end to such an amazing series!!!

Rose has grown so much in confidence and magical ability since the first book, and really steps up in this book to do what she can to help get rid of the demon.

The guys really come together as a group in this one, working in their harem of guys, working to do what's best for Rose, and working with other Witches.

Despite this book being about Witches and magic, they have easily relatable problems/difficulties, and love between Rose and her guys is beautiful.

Absolutely love this series!!

I don't really want to say anything else because of spoilers, so go and read!

Fitting ending 3.75

I was getting a bit anxious about the chosen one vibes this book was giving off, but it shaped up ok. All the MCs eventually got some sort of growth arc, although I still hold firm to my opinion that there should have been jealousy.
There was one unanswered question that is bugging me, but I’m sure it’s just my detail obsessiveness that’s bugging me the most. All the characters ended up fitting together fine, although I think not having sword crossing is a missed opportunity.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: murder, gore, violence, domestic abuse (off page), near death experiences

Finally finished and while it was a good series it dragged on a bit and felt repetitive in some parts. In certain books, I wanted more of some storylines than others.

There was a lot of focus on the same enemy throughout the series but every book also had its individual challenges to overcome. I kind of wished the endgame enemy was only in the last books as the challenges in the other books felt like an afterthought. I could have had much more time with those challenges building me up to the final battle.

There was also a lot of "I said" and "she said" in the book. It was stated a lot which got to me a little.

Overall I still enjoyed books.

A demon is on the loose and nature is rotting wherever the demon goes. Rose has been called to the Assembly to help in the fight. The heads of the Assembly have few original thoughts, and they are leery of Rose and her consorts.
The last book in the witch’s consort series has plenty of action and pulse pounding moments. Secrets are revealed. Rose makes sacrifices to defeat the demon and close the portal.
I kind of wish the end had a few more details about how things wrapped up but it has a happy ending so I suppose that is the most important thing.

Consort of Light (The Witch’s Consorts Book 5)

Consort of Light (The Witch’s Consorts Book 5) ~~ The title says it all — this book is about hope, healing, and illumination. Rose and her consorts finally start working as a true unit, though not without struggles. The battles are epic, but so are the emotional moments. I loved how Rose fully embraces her role, not just as a witch, but as a leader. And yes, the romantic tension hits just as hard as ever.
A satisfying payoff that shines with strength and unity.

What a wonderful ending to this series! Rose and her consorts fought so bravely and gave up so much!
Ms. Chase’s descriptions were so detailed that I was standing with the witches while they fought that hideous demon. I was nervously reading the pages to see who would win and gasping out-loud during some of the more intense scenes.
And now I’m sorry the series is over. I loved those characters and was always rooting for Rose and her boys.

This is the final installment of The Witch's Consorts. I have loved watching Rose grow and stand up for her beliefs and her consorts. In this book they must face the demon who has escaped the cliff and stop the others from breaking through. Will they be able to stop the demon in time and save all of earth? So many things are discovered in this book along with some very important information about Rose. No matter what she doesn't give in. Just keeps fighting. I really enjoyed this book.

Just Fantastic!!

If you like magic, fighting the demons of Hell and Earth and sexy men who love their woman, this series is for you. From the first chapter to the last, it drew me in and kept me flipping to the next page as quickly as I could read! Rose and her guys have an awesome relationship. They each bring something unique and it all melds together wonderfully. I wish I could read this entire series for the first time again!!

I really enjoyed this series it had a bittersweet ending IMO. These are the first books I've read from the author and am now going to move on to another series of hers.

As much as I enjoyed the series, I do have to say that the intimate scenes were good but they could have been better. I felt like they needed something more, and you can't expect me to believe not one of the guys even tried to broach the subject of the backdoor.

I honestly only finished this because I love Eva Chase (and I hate having DNF books) but this one wasn't it. I saw some reviews saying it should have ended after book 4 but honestly there was way too much nonsense filler in all the books that I think this would have been better as a trilogy. The characters stopped being interesting really after book 3. This just wasn't her best at all, but I still love her!

A Magic Ending!

What an amazing ending to such a great series. Rose and her guys are up against the worse foe yet, actual demons. But this time Rose and her consorts are teaming up with the assembly to take down an escaped demon. This book has everything, drama, betrayal, failure and perseverance. And plot twists. So good!!!

Good series

This has been a good series. It was a little drawn out though. By the third book I was starting to lose interest. It was just a slow read. With each book it got less steamy. Great characters and a good plot. If it was shorter the action would have been packed together to be a faster read. Not my favorite of Chase's books.

This one was a struggle to get through.. I think books 4 and 5 could have been combined. There were a lot less steamy scenes, and not many plot developments. It kept going from a car ride, to the demon, to the assembly. I was pretty bored. However I'm glad I read to the end to see where Rose and her boys ended up.
