A Wolfe Among Dragons: Sons of de Wolfe

Rate this book
"James died in Papa's arms ~ " Penelope de Wolfe from SERPENT

Get ready for perhaps the greatest de Wolfe adventure yet....

The sons of William de Wolfe (The Wolfe) are immortal, so they say. Men who are known as ShadowWolfe... DarkWolfe... Nighthawk... are as legendary as their father. The eldest four sons - Scott, Troy, Patrick, and James have always run in a pack. They are all to each other, in both brotherhood and in strength. But in 1282 A.D., James de Wolfe, the endearing and gentle brother, is killed in Wales as the Welsh rebel against Henry III.

... or was he?

Tales of a Welsh warrior known as Blaidd Cryf, or Blayth the Strong, are making way to English ears along the Welsh Marches. It's 1286 A.D., and a Welsh warrior who can somehow read the minds of the English armies is rising to power among the last princes of Wales. With Blayth leading the Welsh armies, the English are being handed defeat after defeat. No one knows who Blayth is, or where he's come from, but the English warlords are coming to realize that they will lose Wales once and for all if Blayth and his brilliant tactics aren't stopped.

No one seems to realize that Blayth (the phoenetic pronunciation for Blaidd, meaning wolf in Welsh) may be the most deadly warrior Wales - and England - has ever seen.

Bhrodi de Shera, the hereditary King of Anglesey and husband to Penelope de Wolfe de Shera, youngest daughter of William de Wolfe, has no real grasp of who Blayth the Strong really is. An icon for his people, Bhrodi has been instrumental in helping the Welsh and English peacefully co-exist, and he very much wants all of Wales to know peace with England, but with Blayth leading a resurgence of rebellion along the border, Bhrodi seeks to meet with Blyth to discover who this man is and what he truly wants - a fractured Wales? Or is he determined to unit Wales under his rule?

When Blayth finally appears at Bhrodi's stronghold of Rhydillian Castle, his identity is shrouded in mystery. It is said that the English, if they discover him, will execute him without question, so Blayth is well protected by his contingent of teulu. But when Penelope catches of a glimpse of the man who has single-handedly caused a resurgence of Welsh rebellion, she can hardly believe her eyes.

Lazarus has indeed arisen - and her brother, James, is back from the dead.

Discover the epic adventure of A Wolfe among Dragons, a tale of mystery, of hope, and most of all, of romance and redemption. When a dead son returns, it can be the greatest of joys and the deepest of tragedies. A Wolfe Among Dragons is truly a story for the ages.

First Impressions
A Wolf Among Dragons is the eighth installment in the "de Wolfe Pack" and I absolutely adored it in every way. In fact this is my FIRST 6 star historical romance read of the year. Even after a few years of reading this author, I have to wonder how does she write such delicious work? Its just delightful and the way she can combine historical facts and bring in strong characters that somehow fit the time so well, is such a blast. I am not sure how I truly feel about this book because it had me all over the place emotion wise. There was something so much more about this book than I expected. I was NOT this whirlwind of a romance or the emotion that happens in this one....yeah didn't see it coming. But brownie points to Kathryn Le Veque for writing such a superb tale.

First Line
It was the children's hour.

But he has an enemy, one who will manipulate him and betray him when he least expects it....will the Wolfe family lose their son they never knew was alive all of this time?

What I Loved
A Wolfe Among Dragons is the eighth installment but you could read this after "The Wolfe" and "The Serpent", you don't necessarily need to read the other installments but do recommend reading at least those two books FIRST. So this book blew my mind! I didn't expect to be so thrown off than by this book. Its a story that had such a emotional impact, I felt like I was run over by a train with this one. If you love medieval romance, then you definitely need to think about this book or author, because she writes such captivating books.

From the very beginning, we see the scene at the infamous Welsh battle where James was believed to have been killed. And man my heart, the way you see this family not wanting to leave him behind but believing he was dead and so heart broken not to take his body with them? Just so heartbreaking. And I didn't even know after all this time that James had a "Lazarus" rise from the dead type of story. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but the plot in this story was brilliantly laid out. Once you see him five years following that battle scene, you just know that you will be on a wild ride and Le Veque really carries that intensity from beginning to end.

The romance that develops was so memorable and had such a epic feel to it. The chemistry that these two have together is spot on, and their connection is a bit different than I have read from this author before and it had a level of sensuality I truly adored seeing being mixed in with the story. Our characters have such strong personalities but at the same time they are so respectful towards each other. There is such a level of teamwork between them. The way that they banter is super endearing. And when the hero gets so vulnerable and needs a woman to stand by him, I just respected the way in which Asmara trusts in him and doesn't spurn him when the truth comes out. She only proves her loyalty to him and is there when he needs it both physically and emotionally.

The Plot was top-tier in this one. So well developed and I never knew what would be happening next. We have so many moments of adventure, action, and strong humor that is placed in here at just the right times. This author really pulls you into this historical time period that feels so raw and real. There is quite a bit of political intrigue that was fascinating and layered into the story that has such a genuine feel to it. The family conflict was so heartbreaking. I was not expecting the ending both happy and sad that leaves you with such a deep poignant heart in the end. I am actually surprised Le Veque went the way that she did. But at the same time, I kinda knew it would happen considering what I have seen in other books. But no worries...our couple....DEFINITE HEA!

What I Struggled With
Nothing, it was perfection in every way!

Narration
Brad Wills is one of my favorite narrators. So talented, with the voice that really delivers the best medieval vibes and is flawless in his transfer of character voice tones!

Overall View

If ever there was a time where a book needed to be written , or a character needed to be given life (literally), this was it .
James De Wolfe is the Lazarus of the Le Veque world .
It’s been a joy to read this story , one long awaited and begged for by all of Kathryn’s fans ,and be ready for a real tearjerker of a tale .
From the battles to the brotherhood , this is one of those books you won’t forget easily, not only does James return but he’s not as he was , he struggles to settle with his past , or lack of it and his doubts and those of his Lady ,Asmara ,are part of the basis of the story.
A good book should draw out of its readers all those feelings and emotions that the characters experience , get your tissues out because this one is going to floor you .

"Love was something that couldn't be forgotten." As I turned the last page, I knew I had to write this review quickly. That is if I can literally stop crying and not sure I can. When a book moves me to this point, I do not want to let go of the story and I know it will be a long time before I do. Wales, 1282, the English are in battle with the Welsh and losing their ground. William de Wolfe, is trying to pull back when his son James is killed. Devastated, he tries to take his body out as does he best friend, but the fighting is so brutal it is either stay and die or leave James' body behind. Jumping ahead to 1287 AD, the story begins with a Welsh warrior, Blayth the Strong leading a raid on the English to capture land they had lost. He is known as the bastard son of the last Prince of Wales and has come to the notice of the English by his great deeds in battle. But Blayth does not remember anything before he awoke five years ago from having been horrendously tortured by the English. Asmara ap Cader, known as the "Dragon Princess" is truly a fighting machine on her own. Working in battle as she meets Blayth, it is an amazing attraction that develops. Fate steps in and Blayth begins to question his birth and history.
There are not enough adjectives to describe this story, although there is a side tale that will also squeeze your heart. With every book that I have read by Kathryn Le Veque, her tremendous gift of prose makes you feel one with the characters and their emotions. This was truly an epic story full of battles, suspense and a romance that will make your heart melt as these two were truly meant for each other. I will leave you with this thought... What was once lost can often be found again and this is the story to prove it.. Thank you for this story and I know I will read it several times again...

The Return of James de Wolfe

I'm sobbing... in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping... I am sobbing.

Thank you Kathryn Le Veque for listening to your readers. Thank you for resurrecting James de Wolfe.

De Wolfe Pack stories that I still need to read - Thomas, Adonis, Apollo. Will we see anything for them?

I don't want to talk about how Le Veque created this lovely story. People need to read it and feel the emotions.

I was resistant to James having a heroine who was not Rose Hage. I should have trusted Kathryn Le Veque. One sentence - that's all it took and all of my objections were overcome.

I loved this book. I want to go back to the first page and read it again!

Hailed as the ‘Queen of Medieval Romance’─with good reason─Kathryn le Veque has returned with her impressive newest installment in the de Wolfe series. It’s June of 1282 and William de Wolfe, England’s greatest warrior, is led deep into southern Wales─right into a trap laid by their enemy, the Welsh. Hundreds of men have died, including his beloved son, James. Overrun with the enemy on all sides and three other sons to think of, William must leave the body of James behind. Several years later, a Welsh warrior named Blayth the Strong, is defeating the English in battle after battle. Fighting by Blayth’s side is Asmara ap Cader, a fierce warrior called the ‘Dragon Princess’; a woman he is deeply falling for. Rumored to be the bastard son of the last Prince of Wales, Blayth has no memory of his past beyond five-years, supposedly due to torture at the hands of the English. He’s only aware of his past because the man who saved him has told him so. But when a captured English knight looks upon him and calls him by a different name─that of James de Wolfe─Blayth begins to question everything he thought he once knew. From the very first page, this emotionally-charged page-turner draws a reader in and refuses to let go. Simply put, A Wolfe Among Dragons has everything a reader could want in a sprawling, epic romance; vivid world-building, pitch-perfect prose, tender romance, action-packed battles, and most importantly, richly drawn characters. And although generally, romance is not a genre that I normally enjoy, Kathryn le Veque has made a fan of me.

While the backstories of the H/h of this book were interesting, and parts of the story tragic, the author's heavy use of description, introspection, and narration, left the book feeling overly wordy, unbalanced, and slowed the pace to a crawl. It got to the point that I desperately wanted to skim. Which, for me, is a bad sign.

This is book eight of a series and I read this as a standalone. Perhaps if I read them from the beginning, I would have been more invested in the characters.

Unfortunately, this just wasn't my cuppa. I wish I could have enjoyed it as much as others seem to. Guess you can't win them all. I have many of this author's books that I picked up as freebies. Maybe I will try another and see if this was a one-off thing.

Years ago, I first read Kathryn Le Veque's "The Wolfe." It is an epic book (909 pages) that is a wonderful story of love, family and the bond of brotherhood that exists among those who have fought side-by-side for years in life/death situations. I fell totally in love with ALL the characters (Sir William de Wolfe and Jordan, Sir Kieran Hage and Jemma, Sir Paris de Norville and Cat), becoming utterly engrossed and invested in the story. "The Wolfe" has turned into my go to book when I need a mental break and want to visit my old friends once again. Thankfully, Ms. Le Veque has brought those beloved characters into several of her story lines in subsequent books, which was a big treat for me. Other readers have felt the same way and Ms. Le Veque created an entire "de Wolfe Pack" series of books containing the children and descendants of those original fabled knights from "The Wolfe."

We first learned of the death of James de Wolfe, Sir William de Wolfe's beloved son, in "The Serpent." It was a brief statement but we were all sad to learn that our hero from "The Wolfe" had a son die in his arms in a battle in Wales. Then, we met James de Wolfe in "A Joyous de Wolfe Christmas." It is a short story where we actually meet James, who was a sweet, humorous and gentle soul who also was an amazing warrior. It was sad to think he wouldn't live to fulfill his destiny with his beloved Rose (Kieran Hage's daughter). Then, we learned Ms. Le Veque was going to "resurrect" James from the dead. I could not even imagine how she was going to accomplish this; however, I had faith in my favorite author. And, it was done beautifully and brilliantly!

"A Wolfe Among Dragons" is such a fabulous book! The author cautions the reader to be sure to have Kleenex on hand and I made good use of them! There were several heartbreaking moments included in this story. And, tension mounts throughout with some edge-of-your seat parts. Yes, it was tinged with sadness but sweet redemption all the same. I cannot think of a better word to sum it up and describe it all but bittersweet. I loved it!

First let me say I read the paperback version of this book because I just couldn’t wait to read it. I almost don’t know what to say. After reading this book, I can only advise you to be sure to have a full box of tissues with you while you read it. This had to have been a very difficult and emotional book for Kathryn to write. After James died in a previous book, and many fans expressed disappointment that he would not be able to have his own story. A Wolfe Among Dragons is a very deeply emotional book. The twists and turns of this plot are magnificent. The characters are so well created and elegantly written with such detail highlighting the prodigious differences between their strengths and vulnerabilities. You can’t help but be pulled into the book and experience the sensitivity and duplicity. I really don’t want to give the story away and spoil it for other readers, but I will say this is definitely a DO NOT MISS book! After reading A Wolfe Among Dragons, I felt like I’d been on an emotional journey of my own. I have laughed and cried while reading books before, but this one felt personal. It’s not just reading an entertaining book, it’s an experience. I can’t recommend it highly enough. If I could give it 10 or 15 Stars, I most definitely would.

By Kathryn LeVeque

Are the sons of William de Wolfe immortals? These are some of the greatest men. Men who are known as ShadowWolfe, DarkWolfe, Nighthawk, and they are as legendary as their father. The four eldest sons Scott, Troy, Patrick, and James are always together. They are all to each other, in brotherhood and in strength however in 1282 A.D., James de Wolfe is killed in Wales as the Welsh rebel against Henry III or was he?

Now five years later, tales of a Welsh warrior known as Blaidd Cryf, or Blayth the Strong, are making way to English ears along the Welsh Marches. A Welsh warrior who seems to be able to read the minds of the English armies is rising to power among the last princes of Wales. Blayth is leading the Welsh armies and the English are losing time and time and again. Nobody really knows who Blayth is or even where he came from, but the English are starting to realize that they will lose Wales if he isn't stopped.

Asmara ap Cader is the great granddaughter of the last king of Deheubarth and called Dragon Princess by the Welsh. She is a fierce warrior in her own right and now she is helping Blayth stir the rebellion. Her aim is deadly, and even as Blayth leads the Welsh, he can't help but be attracted to this lovely woman who is fighting along side him.

As their romance blossoms, rumors come from Wales that Blayth the Strong is really James de Wolfe. When William de Wolfe hears this he decides that nothing is going to stop him and he has to find out if these rumors are true and he will and he will risk his very life to find if his son has indeed risen from the dead. It is time for the House of de Wolfe to return to Wales and discover if the son that they believed dead is indeed the man now raising an army against the English.

Will Blayth ever remember that he used to be James de Wolfe? Will Amara and Blayth be able to stay together through the strife? Will Blayth ever get to meet his real family the de Wolfe's?

Once again Kathryn LeVeque has shown that her star shines bright. Ms LeVeque has so much talent that every time you think there's no possible way that she can out do the last book she shows us that she can. This is one incredibly talented writter who literly blows my mind. This is an emotionally fast charged book that left me in tears. I'm still wiping the tears away and smiling as I write this. Another roller coaster ride of emotions is what I went through reading this book. If I could give this book all the stars in the sky I would because I have to say I loved every word of it.

I dont even know where to begin... When Kathryn said get the tissues out, she was not kidding! I have laughed & cried at several books, but this book, was a WOW for the ages!!! As a HUGE de Wolfe fan the thought of a beloved de Wolfe son rising from the dead had my anticipation heightened already, but the manner in which Le Veque captures the pure emotion in every scene in this novel is astounding. I was left speechless & breathless. Our hero is one we thought we knew, and we do in glimpses, but his story is one you have to experience in harrowing, elaborate detail to fully comprehend. Our heroin, worthy of our new hero. Like many who follow Le Veque and her families, I was not sure how she would pair our H/H considering what we already knew about our hero before this story. She weaves this tale in such detail as to keep you waiting on baited breathe for the next page, next chapter. Heart wrenching to say the least. So many powerful families are touched by this story, and the detail in which Le Veque describes their encounters, is absolutely flawless and makes you feel as if it is happening to you. A must read for all de Wolfe fans, Hage fans, de Lohr fans...An amazing tale that has you enraptured from the very beginning. It will make you giggle, it will make you cry and it will leave you breathless! Utterly fantastic!!!!!

Grab three boxes of Kleenex and get ready for a fantastic return to the World of de Wolfe. Seriously, the opening scene was wonderfully, tastefully written and took the first box. Blayth meets Asmara and the world for them is never the same. She is as much, if not more, a warrior as is he. She has a brilliant mind that is worthy of any military leader and is fearless. He doesn't really know who he is. Betrayed by one that should love and protect both of them, they finally discover exactly who Blayth is and a few more little surprises. Seriously, between the first scene and the reunion scene, your emotions will go up and down with Blayth and Asmara. This will be a classic for me-re read at least once per year.

Not 5 Stars...but 10 Stars!!!

Oh my, as I write this review I have a huge lump in my throat. A Wolfe Among Dragons is now one of my favorite stories of all times!

This is a story that made me have to stop reading at least three times! Three times... because I was sobbing! I had to physically put the story down and walk away for a bit and compose myself in order to continue reading. I can honestly say that very few books have made me feel all of these emotions. I can probably count them on one hand.

As I finished the last pages of the book and was at the end of this phenomenal Journey, it is hard for me to explain my feelings for I felt happily drained. I felt as though my heart was being squeezed tightly and my soul was left gutted. What a testament to this author's Talent!

I will also purchase the story in its physical form, for it will be a keeper in my own personal library for years to come. This is a story I want to pass down to the Next Generation for it is a tale of deep sorrow, grief, new beginnings, miracles, hope fulfilled, tearful endings and of deep loves that never die.

I have read the entire De Wolfe series and I kept wondering how this author would pull off Jame's de Wolfe's story. This author's exceptional talent is clearly witnessed in A Wolfe Among Dragons for she did a magnificent job with a story that grabs your heart with a death grip and even after you have read the last pages refuses to let go. In my eyes, that is a tremendous success all around!

Sir James de Wolfe dies on the battlefield and Blayth the Strong is born in Wales; while a legendary family still mourns the loss of a man they love deeply.

A Dragon Princess finds a scarred warrior who awakens her inner dragon to feelings she has never felt before.

An uprising is brewing and all is not as it seems. A true journey to witness! Everything will come full circle for many throughout this tale.

Beginnings and endings that are gut-wrenchingly heartfelt! A story that is a keeper for the ages! Bravo!

I cannot recommend this book strongly enough, I can only say you should have a box of Kleenex close by while you read it. I will never forget A Wolfe Among Dragons...for it will stay with me forever. I don't say things like this lightly so if you want a great story to read, please pick this up.

Again, A Wolfe Among Dragons gutted my soul, but will stay with me forever.

Too sad

This book was too sad for my taste, I like a bit of angst in my romance, but not the terrible sorrow I felt after reading this book.

I have problems with anxiety and depression, and after reading this book I felt terrible. In a way, that’s why I read romance, to escape the sadness of real life, but this book got too real and it broke my heart. Most people won’t have this problem, especially because I get ridiculously invested in the life of the characters I like, even if they’re secondary, which is why I hate sequels we’re older characters die.

I like my endings happy, and even though the main characters did have a happy ending, the literal ending of this book was heartbreaking, it made me contemplate things I don’t like to think about, like getting old and dying.

I didn’t love the story, the fact that James had to go through what he had was depressing enough, added to that the fact that the love story was super weak and the death of a beloved character, and it was a mess.

I didn’t enjoy this book.

It was well written and better resolved than some of the other stories this author had changed in order to create them for characters that weren’t supposed to have one. However, it still annoys me that she couldn’t stick to her original stories instead of killing off wives and bringing characters back from the death, it shows poor planning on her part, which is a theme with this author. She has messed some prequels and sequels by not adapting to the original books, which were pretty adaptable.

The book wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t my cup of tea AT ALL, it hurt to read and now I find myself trying to find something happy to bring up my spirits, but if you’re into sad (and I know there’re people out there who actually enjoy it), then by all means read this book, but if you truly want to suffer, first you should read (at least) The Wolfe and Serpent, but if you want the full effect then you should also try Nighthawk, DarkWolfe, ShadowWolfe, and for the coup de grâce A Joyous de Wolfe Christmas. Just so this one can hurt a lot more.

Kathryn le Veque has outdone herself with this book of the de Wolfe legacy novel. She has brought the history and the terrible brutality of this time to life and takes the reader on emotional rollercoaster. We have an injured warrior brought back to life, a father torn by his son’s death and his guilt of leaving his son’s body behind in a war torn country. This is a story of a destiny so big we see an English knight with no memory become a legend of epic portion in Welsh history as Blayth the Strong, and Asmara ap Cader is a fierce warrior known as the Dragon Princess, a warrior woman who stand tall and fights among them and by his side.
The romance smolders between Blayth and Asmara. Asmara is a great warrior woman who’s never met anyone like Blayth, she is instantly attracted to him, his strength, his loyalty and honor. She starts questioning his past and what the truth really is, he finally wants the truth and nothing will stop him from finding out what happened five years ago when he was left for dead on the battlefield. Blayth the Wolfe among Dragons questions what he’s been told for five years, he has moments of insecurities, why was he abandoned, who abandoned him on the battlefield and was he not worthy to be loved and taken home after the battle. Be sure and have a box of tissues handy for this emotional love story and the gut wrenching heartache and pain we feel with the discovery of a son long thought dead might actually be alive as William de Wolfe dares to believe his son James de Wolfe is alive and living among the Welsh.
Enjoy the journey of a lifetime where a warrior is returning from the dead to discover his true legacy. This is story of loyalty, honor and the destiny of the men and the women who love them. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review. 5 STARS *****

Well Kathryn Le Veque, you have done it again given us the readers another great and wonderful story. What can I say that has not already been said before by many, but I will give it a try and tell you the reader, be prepared to feel all the emotions that this wonderful author will pull out of you and yes have your Kleenex handy. I love William and Jordan de Wolfe and all their great offspring, but James was always there out front above them all. He was a great knight with a big heart, and all who knew him loved him no one more than the father who had to leave him on the battlefield in Llandeilo, Wales five years past, all thought James was dead and they tried to take him with them But even the mighty Kieran Hage could not stop the flow of the welsh fighters that assaulted them that day. So James was left and the grief and heartache felt by all who knew him never went away. Blayth the Strong was a Welsh hero to the fighters who were getting ready to take their country back from the English. Tall, broad shouldered and with blond hair but terrible scars on one side of his head. He had no memory of his earlier life; he fights for Morys ap Macsen a man whose only goal is to think of himself. Asmara ferch Cader is the niece of Morys she is known as “The Dragon Princess” a beautiful warrior woman. Blayth and Asmara fall in love and with her help and a lot of other forces taking place, we find out that James lives and the joy in the book when all come together will take your breath away. If you are a true fan of Kathryn’s characters, you will feel the loss of an old friend, so have those Kleenexes handy you will really need them. I highly recommend this book and all the other wonderful story’s that Kathryn Le Veque has brought to my world. Thank you once again for an excellent read. A son who was lost is now found and an old friend continues his journey beyond.

Medieval Kodak Moment

Out of all the books by Kathryn Le Veque, A Wolfe Among Dragons is the most wonderful book. There is no way but to say it was truly a roller coaster of emotions throughout the whole book.
To believe that there is possibly a chance that a loved one, a son a daughter still alive...you would move heaven and earth to see if they were. Kathryn, really pulled the emotional key in this de Wolfe legend, she gave each character the life ,the spirit and courage that every character that she writes. Each book takes you to a time that isn't like today where there are treatment that can help amnesia victims but she told how James didn't remember was mainly did to the injury he received and of how Morys brainwashed him.
With this book i really felt i was there, I could smell the anguish, the sweat, blood, and tears as the de Wolfe family was feeling after being ambushed and having to leave James and others behind.
Then in meeting the Dragon princess and her family, Kathryn, gives you a family unlike the de Wolfe, as they didn't get along,
This book is so good that I couldn't put it down till I finished it. As Kathryn hints you will need tissues for as my title says there is a Kodak moment several times even though in medieval times ...it was a very profound impact to the characters involved.
If this is the first time reading Kathryn Le Veque, this will definitely have you getting her other books, their timeless, and the characters become part of you before you realize was and you want more.

Saya kira malah orang Indonesia loh. In Bahasa, Asmara is Love 🤔

Helping Blayth in stirring the rebellion is the great-granddaughter of the last king of Deheubarth. Called the 'Dragon Princess' by the Welsh, Asmara ap Cader is a fierce warrior in her own right. She fights in the rebellion and is deadly in her aim, and even as Blayth leads the Welsh, he cannot help but be attracted to the lovely Dragon Princess who fights so brilliantly beside him.

I don’t think I can say enough about this book! I absolutely loved it! I laughed out loud. I had tears streaming down my face. This book was so full of emotion! I could actually feel the characters. I have followed the de Wolfe family through all of Kathryn LeVeque’s books and I have to say this is in my top two! This is a stand alone book but if you want to feel the book read all of them! I just can’t explain how much I loved this story. Definitely recommend this one!,

James de Wolfe is loved by all of his family.
The gentle, warm natured, kind and quiet young man with the easy sense of humour is his father William's favourite, which is why when James is mortally wounded on the battlefield in Wales, his father's world and that of the whole de Wolfe family and their extended family is shattered.
But five years later, Blayth the Strong has risen. A very strong, muscular, mighty and terribly scarred warrior has risen in Wales, but Blayth cannot remember his past, only what he has been told by his mentor in Wales.
In a chance meeting, he meets the very beautiful Welsh Dragon Princess, Asmara, who he falls in love with, and as he does so, his world starts to change and in some circumstances not for the better.
Asmara is a strong, independent and free thinking young woman, who Blayth admires greatly from the moment they meet.
This emotionally powerful book, which is beautifully written by Kathryn Le Veque takes you on a journey you will never forget.
Not only is James and Asmara's love story unforgettable, but the emotions that run through this book about loving and lasting friendships, especially between William and Kieran will make your heart ache with the heartfelt emotion involved.
This book is wonderfully absorbing and when it finished, I felt as if I had been put through a Medieval mangle!!!

This story comes with a warning that you will need a big box of tissues especially at the end. If you have read any of our author's previous books you will know the families involved, that just makes it all the more emotional.

Our battle scarred hero has no memory of his life before his terrible injuries. His life now is to do as the man who saved him asks and take his place as the man to lead the Welsh rebellion.
Our heroine is one of the descendants of the last Welsh prince, and known as the Dragon Princess. She has been trained as a warrior and is usually to be found at the right hand of her father in battle.
The Welsh are not the best organized, they spend too much time fighting between themselves. They need a real leader.
Although the central story is a romance, there is much more to it. You will not be able to avoid getting pulled into the lives of all our characters. The family relationships are the central focus. Be prepared to go through every emotion possible.
Trying to read and cry at the same time is difficult, but our author has us doing the same as our characters and battling through it.
A wonderful book that you can read on it's own, but links to several others. I loved every page.

James de Wolfe was the beloved youngest son and brother in the de Wolfe family. He dies on a battlefield during a fight fraught with chaos, and his father and brothers were forced to leave his body on the field rather than take it with them in their retreat for fear of losing their own lives. This was a tragedy that begins this tale.
But, was James really gone? Five years have passed and now an enemy in the north goes by a different name, Blayth the Strong, but there’s just something about him.... Asmara ap Cader thinks there’s something special about Blayth as well. She’s always been a warrior herself, not interested in the men around her until him.
These two people are drawn together through a mutual cause and their attraction to each other becomes more than either thought possible. They become involved in a tangle of intrigue and danger when they decide to determine the truth of Blayth’s history.
I loved this particular story as it has everything! There is romance, battle, tragedy, and yes, there is a hea, and it is a rather interesting one. This tale is filled with emotion and I recommend it to readers of historical romance who enjoy books with each of these elements, and suggest a box of tissue on the side. I think this has to be one of this author’s best yet!

James De Wolfe died during a skirmish at Llandeilo.
It was a devastating blow to the powerful Wolfe legacy.
A even more devastating blow to his father William, whom was forced to leave his son's body behind.
But not without trying, William refused to let James go, but had to when the Welsh almost overtook their party.
Now, 5 years later a Welsh rebellion is being led by a warrior by the name of Blayth the Strong.
Blayth means Wolf.
Blayth is a man without a past.
He is a scarred man, who'd been nursed back to health and took the word of the man who saved him (Morys).
Stranger yet, Blayth has a keen sense of English battle tactics.
He's a most brilliant asset to this rebellion.
Yet an encounter with a former friend brings questions about Blayth's true identity for himself, Morys, and his allies in the De Lohr family.
The truth will be revealed one way or another.
And there will be blood.

I absolutely love the worlds woven by Kathryn le Veque. They are amazing and vivid. I love them all. I love this story.

As Only Kathryn le Veque can do, a Hero is brought back from the dead

What an amazing story! Ms le Veque has brought a beloved character back in a way that is totally believable. Blayth and Asmara had a love story for the ages, but what is most memorable in this story is the love of a family who never forgot their son/brother and welcomed him back with open arms.

One minor flaw in this story is that in the list of de Wolfe Pack descendants in the very beginning of this book, it says that Rose Hage (daughter of William de Wolfe’s dearest friend, Kieran) had remarried after the presumed death of James de Wolfe, a man named Gethin de Lara (grandson of Sean de Lara). However, in the epilogue when Blayth returns to Castle Questing, it says the name of her new husband is Owen le Mon. This is a huge discrepancy from the list in the beginning of the book to the text in the Epilogue, and is the cause of unnecessary confusion.

But, despite that lapse in continuity, this is a wonderful story.
