Detective Claire Goodnite is finally marrying her sexy SAIC, Wesley O’Connell, in this suspenseful conclusion to the series. The hall has been booked, the flowers have been ordered, and the invitations have been sent. Everything is finally falling into place for the happy couple, or so it seems. That is until a hunter the likes of the old DC Sniper has his sights set on New Jersey Law Enforcement and suddenly the thin blue line has a big, old target painted on their backs. It’s open season on police officers and federal agents alike. She might be the best damn detective in the state of New Jersey but even this case has Claire running for her life. Not to mention the loss of one of her inner circle seems to have shook something loose in her mind. Claire’s memories of that long ago day when she was taken from her home as a child are surfacing one after another. But will she remember before it’s too late? It’s like they always say, every story has its ending. Are you ready for this one? It’s gonna sting.

I don't know why or how (truthfully i didnt even realise) but i came to this book having missed the 3rd in the series. Like i said...i didnt realise I'd missed a book until a good half way through this one. As usual there is the same baanter, affection, love, protection between all of the characters. The mix of sex and drama, the draw of the here and now versus the past and the nightmares. It's all wonderfully alluring and the conclusion was a right doozy! Id never in a million years gone down that route. The thing is though, it's all kind of a bit laborious. I found myself breaking away from the book to do mudane housework tasks, or interact with my children. My eyes rolled a few times in complete snd sheer ridiculousness of sone situations. It's not a bad read but it didn't blow me away either.
Kiss Me Goodnight is the conclusion to the Claire Goodnite series by Jennifer Rebecca. Claire and Wes are finally getting their wedding. But before the big day, someone begins shooting up their town, killing cops. Cops that are close friends of Claire’s. As if her state of mind isn’t shaky enough after the last case. Claire and Wes are assigned to this case and hope to end all the chaos before their big day. All while someone else is plotting against them––watching the drama unfold along with them––on top of the crazy sniper. Will they finally make it to the “I do’s,” or will this be the end of the road, literally, for Claire?
When I first began reading this series, Jennifer Rebecca was a new-to-me author. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really into the first book until about 25% of the way through. Then something in the story grabbed me, and I was hooked. I have been on pins and needles waiting for Kiss Me Goodnight to release to see if I was right about who the ultimate bad guy was. It’s a “game” I like to play with myself and romantic suspense books/authors. I just want to say, “I was right! I was right!” Sort of. There was a bit of a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming in regards to the ultimate bad guy. So, a big high five to Jennifer Rebecca for surprising me when I didn’t think I was going to be surprised by that at all! I also loved the extended epilogues at the end of Kiss Me Goodnight. And the sneak peek at Liam’s book. (Can’t wait!!!)
NICUnurse’s Rating: I give this book, and the entire series as a whole, 4.5 stars. The characters were quirky, yet lovable. Quite a number of steamy scenes woven throughout but more so in this last book. And the twists and turns kept me turning the pages, not wanting to even take a bathroom break! Congratulations to Jennifer Rebecca on winning me over, at least when it comes to your romantic suspense books. But you did such a great job with them, I’m curious to see how I like your other books, as well.
Great second chance romance with all the steam and emotions!!!
When I read the synopsis of Legacy of Lies, it really caught my interest. It did more than that….it blew me away!
I love when a book surprises me, and this one really did surprise me. I was expecting one thing from the synopsis, but I got something else...which I LOVED!!! Tripp and Jolie were young and in love until their families essentially ruined that love. Now, it’s a decade later, and neither of them have seen or spoken to each other. That changes when Tripp hears her voice on the other end of phone call. She is interested in hiring his company, RiskTaker, to check out a possible investor in the new company she wants to start, and guess who the consultant is...yep, Tripp. This is where the story really takes off...many secrets and betrayals will be revealed, and I loved watching these two find their way back to each other.
Tripp and Jolie were both very complex characters, each keeping secrets from the other. Tripp is very intriguing. I think the author describes him perfectly when she writes, he was “like if Robin Hood had been an accountant instead of an outlaw.” Without spoiling anything, he is taking a bad situation and trying to do something good. Jolie is also a great character. She, like Tripp, had been dealt a bad hand, but she is doing whatever it takes to makes things better for her and her family.
I was a fan of Tara Leigh when I read her Nothing But Trouble Series, and I am an even bigger fan now. This second chance romance has it all...steam, romance, secrets, betrayals, and mystery. You can’t go wrong with this one!!!
Kiss Me Goodnight is the conclusion of this series and I have to say I love Claire and Wes even more.
I went into this one with a broken heart because of the loss we sustained in the last book but the characters were aching from the loss too. Claire and Wes are striving for their happily ever after now and with the big day only a few weeks away, they've almost made it. Unfortunately, before they can even take a deep breath, someone starts killing cops, Claire's friends, and blaming her. Her nightmares are coming more frequently, with more and more clarity. The only thing that remains stubbornly out of reach is the kidnapper's face but more than ever she senses that she's missing something, a certain familiarity. They're racing against the whims of a madman to stop the killings and make it to the altar.
Claire and Wes are sexy and swoony as always but Lee and Emma are still being fools. I enjoyed the banter in the group as always and just fell more in love with all of them. The author did a great job of building the suspense and the camaraderie throughout the series. They truly felt like family. I'm sad that the series is ending but I was so excited to see the sneak peak of Liam's book! Can't wait to see those two finally get their stuff together and get their happily ever after. Great read by Jennifer Rebecca!

Book 4 and the final one in the Claire Goodnite Series, and it was well worth it. The conclusion left me shocked - didn't pick that AT ALL!! The chemistry between Claire and Wes was as usual, hot and steamy!! The continual banter between Claire and her brother was sarcastically wonderful. Claire continues to be her feisty self, with her underlying childhood trauma always just there, rearing it's ugliness. I devoured the book in a one sitting read!! Now for Liam's turn. . .
This is the 4th and last book in the series. Jennifer has once again written a story so captivating you can't put it down. In this story Claire is once again the focus of a crazy person and with Wes helping they stop a killer. This story finally reveals Claire's kidnapper and she gets her hea. I highly recommend this book and series.
Liked this one better than the last 2 books. It wrapped almost everything up perfectly. Something I had noticed early in the series was brought to the forefront & I liked that. Good read - solid ending.
I liked the tie up of this last book. Still had some intrigue and danger. But mostly about Wes and Claire’s love for each other. I guessed her tormentor correctly on both fronts. Can’t wait to read Lee’s story next
