A tragic accident shatters the lives of four college friends.
The girls have supported each other through emotional traumas, demanding parents, difficult boyfriends and college deadlines. When Kym suffers a loss and Cara's boyfriend lets her down, Jenna and Allie decide they all need to go out, let their hair down and have some fun.
Jenna wakes up in hospital and is horrified to discover she is being arrested for drunk-driving and manslaughter. Back home with her parents as she struggles through the police interrogation and the trial, she finds herself relying more and more on the support of Officer Eric Copeland - the man who arrested her.
Jenna is tormented because she can't remember exactly what happened that night - but knows that if she is guilty, then she can never forgive herself for killing her best friend...
This is a story of strong female friendships, love and courage with a twist in the tale.
Connie Spanhake began her career as a children’s author. She was raised in a military family and has moved for most of her childhood. Her traveling experiences are prevalent in her series, The Code. She has also written picture books that have helped children learn about adversity, respect, and diversity.
Currently, she has switched over to writing novels. Her novel, Finding Me, debuted in 2018 and has since then also become an audiobook. It was also placed as a Top Ten Finalist in the Author Academy Awards. She is now editing her second novel, Dark Secrets, and when she needs a break from that she works on her newest book which has yet to be named.
When four roommates do their best to console each other's pain through partying, one night turns deadly. But which one of them is really to blame?
Finding Me is a decent attempt at a difficult subject: drinking and driving. I have familial experience that makes this book resonate on many levels. However, I also work in the legal field and struggled with the legal component of the story. I wanted so much more for this book; I love a good friendship story especially when there are four friends, as in Finding Me. However, while it has some legs, overall Finding Me fell flat.
I wouldn't discount the book entirely, it's a quick read and has some good lessons.
Finding Me is currently on sale. If you have kindle unlimited or audible, the audiobook and kindle edition are free! I'm not sure how long the sale will last. Enjoy!
