YES! YES! YES! Hockey Holidays is jam packed full of great stories! I can’t really pick a favorite because they are all so good. However, my heart was really drawn to Kyler and Avery in Melody Heck Gatto’s Icing Isn’t Only For Cookies. Sexy as sin hockey player, and a sweet little baker, so swoon worthy!

Hockey Holidays was an anthology written by eighteen authors with one theme in mind: Hockey romance during the holidays. The proceeds from the book went to USA Warriors Ice Hockey. It was only available during Christmas 2018 as the anthology, but some of the stories may be seen later by the author separately within a series.

Overall I was able to catch up with some of my favorite authors, as well as explore new ones. I highly recommend any of these stories as quick stand-alones for testing out new to you authors. Following was a quick recap of my thoughts for each one:

Second Shot, Shannon Stacey
This was a new to me author. The story was quick so couldn’t be fully developed but was a great introduction to Stacey’s style of writing and I will definitely seek out more. I’m a total sucker for second chances and throw in my favorite sport and I’m a goner!

Christmas Crosscheck, Jaymee Jacob’s
Christmas Crosscheck was a follow up to book one in Jacob’s Dallas Comets series. Bryan and Georgianna were introducing their families to each other for their first Christmas together and of course not everything worked out as planned.

A Wolfe Brothers Christmas, Jamie Davenport
A Wolfe Brothers Christmas was a novella within Davenport’s Game On in Seattle series and a follow up from each brother’s story. I’ve read the entire series and thoroughly enjoyed the update.

The Playboy, Stephanie Julian
Julian was a new to me author. The Playboy was a quick second chance story. I’m a sucker for second chances and it gave me the opportunity to experience Julian’s writing style.

Dmitry’s Christmas Angel, Kat Mizera
Kat Mizera was another new to me author. Dmitry’s Christmas Angel was a novella within Mizera’s Las Vegas Sidewinders series and a good teaser for beginning the series.

A Star Crossed Christmas, VL Lacey
Lacey was another new to me author and her specialty is M/M romance. A Star Crossed Christmas was part of Lacey’s Cayuga Cougars series. Best friends since childhood. Shaun was a professional skateboarder and Mitch was a professional hockey player. Shaun was openly gay but Mitch hadn’t realized he was bisexual until an explosive kiss two years prior. Christmas was Mitch’s opportunity to explore more.

Red Hot Trouble, Lily Harlem
Lily Harlem was another new to me author and Red Hot Trouble was a spinoff from her Hot Ice series. It was a quick novella and assuming it was representative of her style, I’ll love the series and can’t wait to get started.

Dallas Christmas, RJ Scott
Dallas Christmas was a M/M within Scott’s Burlington Dragon’s series. I’ve read the first two books in the series The Code and The The Heart. Although I thoroughly enjoyed Dallas Christmas, I would have loved the full story from start to beginning as well.

Icing Isn’t Only For Cookies, Melody Heck Gatto
I’ve read most of Gatto’s Renegades series. Icing Isn’t Only For Cookies was a quick novella within the series and I fell in love with Kyler almost immediately. This was a reminder that I’ve missed the last few books and can’t wait to dive in again.

The Final Slap Shot, Jean C Joachim
The Final Slap Shot was not my first book by the author but it was my first hockey book by the author. It appeared to be a stand-alone and focused on the end of the career for a Star defensemen.

Christmas Interference, Lisa B Kamps
Christmas Interference was a novella within the Baltimore Banners series. I’ve read the entire series except for one and after thoroughly enjoying Christmas Interference, I intend to rectify that soon.

Holding On Tight, Susan Scott Shelley
Shelley was a new to me author and Holding on Tight was a follow up novella to book four within her Buffalo Bedlam series. And although I had not read the series, it was enjoyable and a teaser of what to expect.

His Christmas Cinderella, Kate Willoughby
Although Willoughby was not a new author to me - and was definitely one of my favorites with her In the Zone series - I had not yet read her San Francisco Dragons series. However, it wasn’t necessary to enjoy His Christmas Cinderella. The storyline was an introduction to the full story of Gideon and Bailey, not yet released. In the meantime, it’s an opportunity to catch up with the series.

All I Want, Stephanie Kay
Kay was a new to me author and All I want was part of her San Francisco Striker series. Although a stand-alone, it was a great introduction to the series.

Lucky Holiday, Jennifer Lazaris
Lucky Holiday was part of Lazaris’ Las Vegas Kingsnakes series. Although I’ve read the first couple books of the series, I had not yet completed the series. This was a second chance story - which I’m a total sucker for - and a good refresher in order to pick up where I previously left off.

Her Best Worst Boyfriend, Melanie Ting
Ting was a new to me author and Her Best Worst Boyfriend was part of her Vancouver Vice series. It was the quintessential opposites attract - friends to enemies scenario and a great introduction to her series.

The Devoted Father and the Introvert, Mary Smith
Smith was another new to me author and the story within this anthology was the first few chapters of book #12 within her New Hampshire Bears series. It was a teaser for the full story but a great introduction to Smith’s style and the series.

How We Fell In Love, Toni Aleo
I’m a huge fan of Aleo and had read almost every book she’s written; however, I wanted to avoid this one. If you’re an Aleo fan, you already knew about Grace (Shea Adler’s twin) and James Justice; however, Aleo had not told the full story until now in How We Fell In Love. Be prepared for the tissues. And for those just meeting Aleo, we met Grace and James through the Assassins series, which are all hockey HEA’s.

I love hockey romances, so I couldn’t resist reading HOCKEY HOLIDAYS. It includes stories by many of my favorite authors. There are eighteen exclusive stories/authors included in this anthology. This is an amazing anthology. I couldn’t think of a better read to get into the Christmas spirit. I appreciate that 100% of its proceeds will be donated to charity.

Stories listed in order of appearance:

A SECOND SHOT by Shannon Stacey is a heartwarming read. Erik Burke of the Boston Marauders gets a second chance with veterinarian, Andrea Morgan, after he rescues a lost dog, bringing it to her clinic. Being an animal lover, I appreciated this story. It was a heartfelt second chance romance. This is the first story that I have read by Shannon Stacey. I enjoyed her writing style.

CHRISTMAS CROSSCHECK by Jaymee Jacobs is a Dallas Comets novella. This is an entertaining story about all the things that go wrong when defenseman Bryan Comstock attempts to propose to Georgiana Pierson on Christmas Eve. My heart went out to the characters that both wanted to make their Christmas together special but faced one obstacle after another.

A WOLFE BROTHERS CHRISTMAS by Jami Davenport is part of the Game On in Seattle series. I love the Wolfe brothers. In this story, they are spending their first Christmas together since they have been reunited playing different professional sports in Seattle. I love that Jami Davenport tied this story in with book 2.5 in the series, LOVE AT FIRST SNOW. That was a clever way to help heal the boys’ relationship.

THE PLAYBOY by Stephanie Julian is a Redtails Hockey series novella. In this story, Kyle Deangelo is hoping for a second chance with Leah Wilson after being moved back to the minors. This is a sweet story that was an enjoyable read.

DMITRI'S CHRISTMAS ANGEL by Kat Mizera is a Las Vegas Sidewinders novella. In this story, Dmitri Papadakis and Angelica Reardon have an unexpected pregnancy. Then Dmitri’s ex-girlfriend reveals that she is also pregnant. I loved this story; it made me cry.

A STAR-CROSSED CHRISTMAS by V.L. Locey is a Cayuga Cougars novella. In this story, childhood friends, goalie Mitch Adams and Olympic snowborder Shawn Sandbeck, discuss the kiss they had two years prior and reveal their feelings for each other. This is a sweet story. I appreciated the candid scene with Vic and Dan, and I love Mitch’s and Shawn’s mothers.

RED-HOT TROUBLE BY LILY HARLEM is a spin-off of the Hot Ice Series. Dr. Sophie Delaney treats Nathan Walker after an injury o the ice. After her twin brother's warning, Sophie tries to stay away from Nathan, but he has other plans. This story has interesting twists.

DALLAS CHRISTMAS by RJ Scott. Logan Maxwell of the Burlington Dragons is trying to forget his relationship with the brother of his team captain, Archie Simard. They end up spending Christmas in Dallas together along with some of his team mates who have no idea that he is gay. This is a heartening and moving read.

ICING ISN'T ONLY FOR COOKIES BY MELODY HECK GATTO is a Renegades novella. Avery James and Kyler Wilson are reunited a year after having a one-night stand that neither one of them forgot. This is a delightful feel-good story that I enjoyed. I love that Avery makes Christmas enjoyable for Kyler again.

FINAL SLAPSHOT by Jean C. Joachim. Harry "Deke" Edmonds had possible career-ending injury and needs to make some difficult decisions. This is a heart-wrenching story made more strenuous taking place during the holidays.

CHRISTMAS INTERFERENCE by Lisa B. Kamps is a Baltimore Banners novella. Shane Masters returned home and confronts a tragedy that happened five years ago. I loved this story. My heart went out to the characters in this story.

HOLDING ON TIGHT by Susan Scott Shelley is a Buffalo Bedlam novella. Defenseman Vince Forsberg and Joseph Parelli undergo numerous burdens to make their first Christmas together perfect. This was a skillfully written story with appealing outcomes.

HIS CHRISTMAS CINDERELLA by Kate Willoughby is a San Francisco Dragons novella. Gideon Aguilar has just been traded to the Dragons and is on his way to the team at their Christmas party. He mistakes Bailey Peng for his Uber driver and asks her to be his date. This is a fun story with a story book ending. I love how Bailey helps Gideon with his anxiety.

ALL I WANT by Stephanie Kay is a San Francisco Strikers novella. This is a second-chance romance for Alex Westbrook and Maggie. They grew up together in Chicago. Now Alex was visiting the kids at the Children’s hospital in San Francisco where he runs into Maggie, who is a doctor there. This is a heartwarming story that I adored.

LUCKY HOLIDAY by Jennifer Lazaris is a Las Vegas Kingsnakes novella. Tyler Quinn regretted breaking his engagement to Ella Wilkinson two years ago. Now he’s hoping for a second chance when he discovers that she relocated to Las Vegas, and that he is going to be working with her on a charity campaign. This is a touching story unexpected twists.

HER BEST WORST BOYFRIEND by Melanie Ting. Em Davis enlist the help of Ian Reid, a guy she cannot stand, to go home with her for the holidays hoping her parents will hate him. As she gets to know him, she discovers maybe he’s not so bad after all. This is a clever and entertaining story. It is the perfect example of not judging a book by its cover.

THE DEVOTED FATHER AND THE INTROVERT by Mary Smith is a New Hampshire Bears novella. Elexis Dunaway and Dag Limon meet through a tweet. This is a supper cute story. I love the characters. I like how Elexis and Dag originally meet.

WHEN YOU'RE READY by Toni Aleo is an Assassins prequel novella. It is the story of Grace Adler (the twin sister of Shea Adler from book one, TAKING SHOTS) and James Justice. I adored this novella. Assassins fans will not want to miss this story.

Hockey Holidays is the perfect book for Christmas. It would make a great gift for anyone the loves hockey/sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

This Anthology has something for everyone. What is inside is 18 Hockey Holiday stories that are steamy, exciting, fun and entertaining. Here are my favourites in the Anthology:

DMITRI'S CHRISTMAS ANGEL by Kat Mizera is a Las Vegas Sidewinders novella. In this novella, Dmitri Papadakis and Angelica Reardon are a new couple and end up with an unexpected pregnancy. Then on top with their unexpected pregnancy, Dmitri’s ex-girlfriend shows up pregnant. This is a really good story that was filled with twists and turns. I do wish it could have been made into a full length book. For a novella, it was phenomenal.
My rating: 4.6 stars *****

HIS CHRISTMAS CINDERELLA by Kate Willoughby ( San Francisco Dragons novella) Gideon Aguilar has been traded to the Dragons and on his way to the Team Christmas party, he mistakes Bailey Peng for his Uber driver and winds up asking her to be his date. This is a funny and heartwarming story with a HEA ending. I love how Bailey
finds a way to help Gideon with something that was gripping him so. This book has many FEELS to it, so get ready for a good time.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

WHEN YOU'RE READY by Toni Aleo is an Assassins prequel novella. It is the story of Grace Adler (twin sister of Shea Adler from book 1- TAKING SHOTS) and James Justice. I cannot say enough good things about this novella. Assassins fans DO NOT want to miss this story. Think HEAT, DRAMA, FEELS & LOVE. Enough said.
My Rating: 4.6 stars *****

LUCKY HOLIDAY by Jennifer Lazaris ( Las Vegas Kingsnakes novella). Tyler Quinn hated breaking off his engagement to Ella Wilkinson 2 years ago. Now he’s back and hoping for a 2nd chance when he discovered that Ella has relocated to Las Vegas. Tyler has plans, plans which are going to be working with Ella on a charity campaign. Now, if Ella will let him. This novella is an emotional and griping story that has some unexpected twists. I found myself appreciating the heart and heat that this story provided.
My Rating: 4.6 stars*****

Among the other awesome authors in this amazing Anthology are: Stephanie Kay ,Susan Scott Shelley , Lisa B. Kamps, Jean C. Joachim,

Sports Romance Enthusiasts of the Hockey Variety…

CHRISTMAS HAS ARRIVED EARLY & IN THE BEST FORM POSSIBLE…

An Anthology Full of Amazingly Sweet, Steamy, and even some Sweaty Stories - ones about second chances, surprise pregnancies, obstacles that couples must overcome, family togetherness, the ups and downs of the holidays, couples just starting out and relationships that need to be mended…there’s a topic and a story for every kind of romance reader, making this the PERFECT way to be introduced to new-to-you authors, all-time favorites, and ones who might end up being new authors to stalk on social media for all the right reasons.

I signed up to review this anthology due to my love for Toni Aleo’s Assassins series, and while I was beyond excited to head back into that world, the fact that I found other sports romance authors to fill my TBR with makes this collection a hat trick read for me!

What’s most exciting about this anthology of hockey romances, though, is the fact that 100% of the sales will be donated to a charity, and with the holidays coming up, it’s the perfect time to help those in need.

4.5 Stars for this Christmas Hockey Holidays Anthology with the profits going to charity. I love hockey and a lot of the authors featured in the anthology are go to authors for me so I was excited to get my hands on this book, I have only read a couple of the books so far the first being ‘When you are ready” by Toni Aleo so this is my review for that book.
Omg what a beautifully written love story this is Grace and James Justice’s story and if you have read the Assasin’s series you will know these guys but that doesn’t mean you need to have read the previous books because this short read takes us back to their beginning and it’s told in Grace’s POV as written in her journal. Getting to know Grace and her twin brother Shea from her point of view was very different, how does one twin follow when her other half is so very successful, the bonds twin share is so special and that comes out in this book but what I loved most was watching James love Grace and working so hard to prove to her that she is worthy that she is lovable and most importantly she is his........
There are so many great authors involved in this anthology and it’s hard to pick a favourite everyone of them has contributed to making this a great read. Eighteen stories all giving their own take on what should be important in our life’s what the holiday season should mean so please one click for charity now. Loved it and I will read every novella in this anthology.

This collection definitely goes in the win column

While I’m not much for sports in real life, I do love a good sports romance, particularly when the sport is hockey. I also love anthologies as a way of getting introduced to new authors, and since I had already read books by a few of the authors here, I knew the odds were good of getting at least a few stories I enjoyed plus a new author or two to follow.

All the stories in this collection had some element of sweet, something I’d expect from a holiday collection, and there were quite a few stories here I absolutely loved. As it happens, my favorites (The Playboy by Stephanie Julian, The Final Slapshot by Jean C. Joachim, Christmas Interference by Lisa B. Kamps, Holding On Tight by Susan Scott Shelley, His Christmas Cinderella by Kate Willoughby, Her Best Worst Boyfriend by Melanie Ting ) are mostly by new to me authors.

With so many great stories and so many new authors to read, this collection definitely goes in the win column. 5+ stars. Individual story comments and ratings follow.

B2B Kelly

A note on the individual story ratings: many of these stories are part of an established series, and because of how much I enjoy the connection of reading follow-ups and related stories, I tend to give slightly higher ratings to stories when I’ve read the earlier books in the series. Since so many of these series are new to me, I might have given some of these stories another half a star or so if I’d read at least some of the earlier books.

A Second Shot by Shannon Stacey
A sweet and touching second chance story that had me sucked in from the first page, from an author I already knew and enjoyed. 5 stars

Christmas Crosscheck by Jaymee Jacobs
A cute story about the challenges of combining two different families for a couple’s first Christmas. Part of of the author’s Dallas Comets series, while it worked well as a standalone (this was my first story by this author), I’d guess you get more enjoyment from it if you’ve read at least book 1 of the series first, as this looks to be a follow-up to that book. 4 stars

A Wolfe Brothers Christmas by Jami Davenport
Brothers with a strained history spending Christmas together in the same house. Though I’ve read this author before, I haven’t read any of the Wolfe Brother books (part of the Game On in Seattle series), and while this worked pretty well as a standalone, I think you’d get more enjoyment out of it with the background of those earlier books. 3.5 to 4 stars

The Playboy by Stephanie Julian
A sweet and steamy second chance story that’s part of the Redtails Hockey series. I hadn’t read this author before and thought this story worked extremely well as a standalone. In fact, I was impressed with how fully the characters were developed and how deeply I cared for them within the space limitations. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series. 5+ stars

Dmitri's Christmas Angel by Kat Mizera
Another new to me author, while this is part of the Las Vegas Sidewinders series, I thought this story worked great as a standalone. A sweet and moving story with some nice touches of humor about family and finding your way. Another series and author I plan on reading more of. 5 stars

A Star-Crossed Christmas by V.L. Locey
Part of the Cayuga Cougars series, I was pleased and a little surprised to find this MM story in the mix. Yep, another new to me author, 😀. Funny (I adored Grandma! 😂), sweet and steamy, friends to lovers story. Another series added to my TBR. 5 stars

Red-Hot Trouble by Lily Harlem
Part of the Hot Ice series and another new to me author. Ok, so I’ll just come out and say it, the author had me drooling over Nathan Walker—red-hot is right, whoa baby! So yeah, steamy, sweet and a little bit funny. It did end pretty abruptly, probably due to space constraints. I’d like to see what this author does with a full length novel. 4 stars

Dallas Christmas Melody by RJ Scott
Part of the Burlington Dragons series, this is a second chances, MM story and another new to me author. I didn’t like Logan at first—he was so scared and closed off that some of his reactions seemed downright cruel. He won me over, but I felt the story wrapped up awfully fast and a little too neatly, again, probably due to space constraints. Very touching and a little sweet, this is another author I’d like to try a full length story from. 4 to 4.5 stars

Icing isn't Only for Cookies by Melody Heck Gatto
Part of the Renegade series and another new to me author. Touching and cute and, yes sweet but...this one made me uncomfortable at the start—Kyler encouraging Avery to down shots when she was already tipsy, leading to drunk sex? I might be a little over-sensitive on the subject atm, but it made Kyler come across as kind of shady, and he never quite recovered in my eyes. Add in a writing styles that just wasn’t quite to my taste, and well...not a bad story, but just not for me. 3 stars

The Final Slapshot by Jean C. Joachim
This story about what happens to a hockey player at the end of his career really pulled on my heartstrings. I loved how authentic Harry and Kitty felt as they loved and fought and struggled to figure out how their lives worked—and if their lives worked together—in a world where Harry was no longer a star hockey player. Another new to me author and another author I’ll be looking for more from. 5+ stars

Christmas Interference by Lisa B. Kamps
Part of the Baltimore Banners, while I haven’t read the series before (this worked well as a standalone), I have read and liked the author. Another heart wrenching second chances story that also had true lol moments (the Christmas tree! 😂), all of which I loved. Just about perfect, my only regret is that it wasn’t longer. 5+ stars

Holding On Tight by Susan Scott Shelley
A new to me author, this MM story is part of the Buffalo Bedlam series. I got the feeling it may be a follow up to a previous book, but thought it worked well as a standalone. It’s a very relatable story about wanting things to be perfect for Christmas only to have almost everything go wrong. Touching and steamy and sweet, this is another series I’ve added to my TBR. 5+ stars

His Christmas Cinderella by Kate Willoughby
I’ve read and enjoyed a couple of books by this author before, but not the relatively new series (San Francisco Dragons) this is a part of. This works well read as a standalone but the couple from the earlier book in the series does have a role here. Funny and flirty and sweet and why haven’t I read more of this author?! Another story that was so good I wish it had been longer, but happily it looks like there’s more to come, something I’ll be watching for. In the meantime, book 1 has been added to the top of my TBR. 5+ stars

All I Want by Stephanie Kay
A second chances story, this is part of the San Francisco Strikers series and from another new to me author. I really liked the setup here with Maggie as a children’s oncologist brought back together with her childhood sweetheart through his charity work with her kids. Sweet and funny, but with touches of angst too. 4 stars

Lucky Holiday by Jennifer Lazaris
Part of the Las Vegas Kingsnakes series, this is another second chances story and yet another new to me author. Angsty and steamy and a little bit sweet. 5 stars

Her Best Worst Boyfriend by Melanie Ting
A hockey rom-com, this is part of the Vancouver Vice series and, yep, another new to me author. Set-up is funny even if it did seem kind of douchey on Em’s part. The whole story had me in stitches, but like all the best comedies, there was a little bit of heartbreak, too. I loved watching Em realize Ian was so much more than she had assumed. 5+ stars

The Devoted Father and the Introvert by Mary Smith
A new to me author, this is part of the New Hampshire Bears series but worked well as a standalone. I really liked the premise here but the version I read (preordered off of Amazon) had a number of tense changes (past to present, third person to first) that kept interrupting the story flow for me—maybe the wrong draft got loaded? Cute and sweet (though the ending was a bit abrupt), I’ll call it 4 stars.

When You're Ready by Toni Aleo
I enjoyed this author’s Nashville Assassins series, which this is a part of, and though it’s been a while since I read any of them, of course I remember Shea Adler and his twin sister Grace (Grace was already married in the first book). I have to say I love Grace and it was a lot of fun getting to see Shea through her eyes, and finally getting her backstory with James. 4.5 stars

(I didn’t include the m/f stories because I didn’t read them – the VAST majority of this anthology is m/f – which… if that’s what you like will make you very happy!!!!)

Dallas Christmas by RJ Scott
Logan knows lusting after his captain's brother can only lead to trouble. But when fate throws them together, it’s hard not to fall in love.

This was super sweet but angsty as fuck too. I really thought Logan was a dick for most of the story and it kinda made me want to stab him. I thought he finally grew a pair but I’m not sure he deserved his HEA.

3 of 5 stars

Holding On Tight by Susan Scott Shelley
For defenseman Vince Forsberg and his boyfriend Joseph Parelli, the pressure to make their first Christmas together perfect leads to a lot of chaos, holiday mishaps, and some unexpected results.

Maybe this would have meant more if I’d read the original story… which is not out yet so…

3 of 5 stars

A Star-Crossed Christmas by V.L. Locey
Two years ago, Mitch shared an explosive kiss with his childhood friend Shaun. Will Christmas be the time for the two men to find a future together that works?

This was the best of the m/m stories. I really loved their chemistry and their relationship building.

4 of 5 stars

This is a book for charity so I think it’s totally worth buying but it’s heavily laden with m/f stories.

It's holiday book season and what can be better than holiday stories and hockey all combined in one. I couldn't wait for this book to land on my kindle. I have to say I dove right into the book as soon as it landed on my kindle. I will also say that I had the chance to read I got to read seven of these stories in the book. There were several authors in this boxed set I have read before that I was excited about reading more of. There were some author's that I've been interested in reading and hadn't gotten to read until now. And there were a few new ones that I didn't realize that wrote hockey romances. I was trying to decide how to do this review, I always have a hard time trying to figure how to write a review on anthologies.

How We Fell in Love (Ice Cats) by Toni Aleo~ I was going to put my review of this story as the last review. But I decided to do it first instead. I have to say that if you haven't read End Game {Bellvue Bullies}, I'm not sure if you should read that book before this story or not.

This story was a bit bittersweet for me. And again if you haven't read End Game yet, I don't want to give anything away. But this is James and Grace's story.

If you don't know who Grace is, she's Shea's twin sister. Grace and James have made several appearences in the Assissans books.

I loved being able to have Grace and James story. I loved being able to have a little more of these two. I loved finally being able to have the beginning of their story.

A Wolfe Brothers Christmas (Game On in Seattle)~ I've read a couple of Mrs. Davenport's books from her hockey series. And I haven't read the other Wolfe brother's storie. I will say this book was a sweet, and touching story that brought tears to my eyes a few times. The wolfe brother's get stuck together with their families on Christmas. When they find themselves searching for a little girl that ran off while the brothers were arguing.

Christmas Crosscheck (The Dallas Comets)~ Awwww I loved Bryan and Georgiana's story. They were so cute together. Bryan and Georgie are getting ready to celebrate christmas with each other and their families. Georgie is about to meet Bryan's parents for the first time and is going through great length's to impress Bryan's family. Bryan just wants to propose to Georgie, but things may not turn out as they seem.

Dmitri's Christmas Angel (Las Vegas Sidewinders)~ I really love Mrs. Mizera's books and love the sidewinder's series. This was another cute and quick story. Dmitri and Angel were adorable together and I loved their story. And I'm so happy that Angel got her happy ending.

I read a few of the other books. I really enjoyed all of the stories that I read. I will read the rest of them when I get the opportunity.

I'm giving this anthology 4.5 Stars out of 5!!!!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

My 5* rating is based on the three stories I have read and reviewed below, and the fact that the anthology is at a very low price and its sale contribute to a charity. I bought a copy as well as receiving one to review. I am looking forward to reading more of the stories in the future.

Dallas Christmas (R.J.Scott)

This short story avoids the need for insta-love by introducing us to two guys who split due to hockey-playing Logan not wanting the drama that comes with being gay and out in the sport. The fact that the guy is his captain's brother may also be a factor. Luckily Archie is persistent and confident of his feelings, but even so Logan may just ruin the best thing through his fears. I loved Archie's resilience in the face of Logan's denials.

A Star-Crossed Christmas (V.L.Locey)

This is a Cayuga team story, a series which I have enjoyed a great deal, and would recommend to you. Even though most of the team are open about their sexuality, Mitch identifies as straight, even though his memory of Shaun's kiss haunts his dreams. This is a really fun story bringing together these two childhood friends for a chance at working out what they really mean to each other. Both professional athletes, who went their separate ways after one kissed the other ... but both home for Christmas, they may just succumb to the magic of the season.

Holding on Tight (Susan Scott Shelley)

This is a Buffalo Bedlam book, and I have to admit that it is new to me, but I will be visiting earlier stories in the series when I have a minute - which is after all one of the joys of reading short stories in anthologies, new discoveries!

I found this short story to pack a lot of punch as it dealt with the realities of the non-hockey player boyfriend having to shape his life around the other. Trying to compromise on career, and deal with issues at his old house whilst also being somewhat beholden to his much richer boyfriend. Yet at the same time not wanting to be anywhere else, and certainly not with someone else. It is a problem which becomes particularly troublesome at Christmas and almost derails a perfect ending ... but luckily the author ensures that we all get the happy ending we desired.

I received a free copy through L. Woods PR in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

OVERALL: 4 stars — As with all anthologies, there are going to be hits and misses. I actually expect that, because I don’t match up with every author. Sometimes there are more misses than hits. This one had a pretty good balance actually. I think only 1 or 2 really missed. And for the ones that hit, WOW did they hit! I have at least 4 new-to-me authors I want to check out more of, and that is what I call success!! My faves were the novellas from Lisa B. Kamps, Kate Willoughby, Stephanie Kay, and Jennifer Lazaris!

I will note that if you are a hockey snob (I’m Canadian, I apologize), and the accurate details of hockey matter to you, there were a few that didn’t do enough research. But less than a handful were noticeably not hockey watchers, so I guess that’s not bad. 😛

A Second Shot by Shannon Stacey
4 stars — This one was super cute! I really liked both Erik and Andrea! Erik was pretty sweet, if a little clueless. I didn’t feel like I learned as much about Andi. Their romantic issues resolved rather quickly, but that’s kind of the nature of a novella you know? Peanut was a total show-stealer, and I loved the way Erik interacted with her.

Christmas Crosscheck by Jaymee Jacobs
3 stars — The conflict in this one made me a bit uncomfortable…Georgiana was more high-strung/dramatic than what I’m usually interested in in heroines. Bryan was pretty low-key actually, and I loved the way he supported Georgiana. I was *not* a fan of Bryan’s mother though.

A Wolfe Brothers Christmas by Jami Davenport
3 stars — I was unreasonably disappointed in the brothers’s behavior in this one. I know I’m supposed to be, but they were behaving a bit too beyond awful that I found it hard to believe in the turnaround. Now, I haven’t read any of Ms. Davenport’s books, and thus not any of the Wolfe brothers’s books, so I don’t know the extent of the damage. But it just went too far after Sadie went missing…that’s when I wrote them off. The writing however was really good and engaging!

The Playboy by Stephanie Julian
4 stars — I was a bit reluctant to like Kyle, but he totally won me over. I really felt like you could see his growth, even though we didn’t see the 18 months ago Kyle. He definitely wasn’t perfect, but I appreciated how he tried. I also appreciated that Leah didn’t just roll over for him. She may have had insecurities, but there was an inner strength there. Basically it was satisfying for a novella.

Dmitri’s Christmas Angel by Kat Mizera
3 stars — So the writing was good, and fairly engaging. But one thing you should know about me is that I really don’t like cheating. And while there’s technically no cheating in this book, I just can’t get into a romance where the hero sleeps with another woman to make sure that his feelings for the heroine are true (prior to which they weren’t dating exclusively). Nope.

A Star-Crossed Christmas by V.L. Locey
3.5 stars — Pretty cute M/M friends to lovers story. It was nice to have a story where I really believed in their feelings and the development of their relationship. Also nice to see bi representation.

Red-Hot Trouble by Lily Harlem
3 stars — Not super great on the hockey part…just little things, but you could tell the author’s not super well-versed in the sport. I was enjoying the romance in general, but then Sophie had to fall into the literary trap of jumping to conclusions, and I just wasn’t in the mood. Also, wtf is a snug room? Could definitely tell the author was from overseas.

Dallas Christmas by R.J. Scott
4 stars — While Logan made me want to smack him for most of this book, I felt a LOT of emotions in this one. I hate that I understand his fears. I loved all the little moments with the young hockey guys.

Icing isn’t Only for Cookies by Melody Heck Gatto
3.5 stars — Pretty cute little novella. I had a harder time feeling the connection between Kyler and Avery, probably because I never understood Avery’s embarrassment. Something was missing to get me to understand her motivations. Too bad, it was fun otherwise.

The Final Slapshot by Jean C. Joachim
2 stars — I couldn’t relate to either character at all. Both Harry and Kitty came across way older than they were, and kind of snobby. And if not older, than seriously old-school. There were shades of toxic masculinity in this story, I just did NOT feel any sympathy for Harry at all, even though I was supposed to. Obviously not a good match for me. Also, continuity problems and repetitiveness.

Christmas Interference by Lisa B. Kamps
4.5 stars — Oh wow. I felt all of the feels in this one. And like, right from the beginning. I was drawn to both Shane and Chloe, and I felt their heartbreak and struggle. And a satisfying ending for me! Will definitely be checking out more by this author.

Holding on Tight by Susan Scott Shelley
4 stars — This one packed in so much emotion with its ups and downs! It was hard watching both Vince and Joshua behave somewhat badly because of their own fears, but ultimately it was a very satisfying read. Makes me want to read their original love story!

His Christmas Cinderella by Kate Willoughby
4.5 stars — Well damn, now I’m going to need to read the next book! Bailey and Gabriel were super adorable, and I really enjoyed their little meet-cute!! I thought the roof scene escalated a bit quickly, but for some reason I’m okay going with it.

All I Want by Stephanie Kay
4.5 stars — Yup, everything I want in a Christmas novella. Two characters that you can love in Maggie and Alex, some struggle, great chemistry, and fabulous secondary characters.

Lucky Holiday by Jennifer Lazaris
4.5 stars — Wow, that one packed a more serious punch than I was expecting! Really gave the story depth, and I truly felt all the emotions. I also appreciated and believed the pace with which Ella and Ty came back together.

Her Best Worst Boyfriend by Melanie Ting
4 stars — This one totally surprised me! It was seriously completely different from the other novellas, the characters were more…normal? Less celebrity. Honestly, I started off disliking both Em and Ian at the start, but they grew on me! I loved that it wasn’t the same old same old hockey story, you know? Also, shout out to all the Ottawa references that reminded me of living there!

The Devoted Father and the Introvert by Mary Smith
3.5 stars — This novella was in the roughest shape editing-wise (lots of tense trouble), but the characters were super cute that it kind of made up for it. It would have been a solid 4 stars, but I felt like I was left hanging at the end of the novella, I expected a neater wrap up! I guess it’s a good thing that I wanted more Dag and Lex!

When You’re Ready by Toni Aleo
3.5 stars — I’ve already discovered that I’m not really a match with Ms. Aleo. I find her heroines hard to connect with, and Grace was no exception. I didn’t really understand her, and there were hints of slut-shaming (with Jackie) at the beginning. However, James was amazing. Like book boyfriend material amazing. He made me invested in their story.

Hockey Romance lovers can completely rejoice when they pick up Hockey Holidays featuring 19 novellas from their favorite hockey romance authors.

As a huge fan of hockey romance, I was thrilled to get my grabby little hands on this collection for multiple reasons. First, having so many of my one click authors gifting me with holiday themed novellas based on the teams and characters I already know and love was just darn exciting! And, these were some of my favorite reads in the collection! Dmitri's Christmas Angel by Kat Mizera was awesome! Not only do we get to watch Dmitri be a hero, we get to catch up with Angel from Brock and Ashleigh’s story. I also loved His Christmas Cinderella by Kate Willoughby. It was super cute, and the ending totally gave me that Pretty Woman feeling when our hero tracks down the girl that got away to steal a kiss and more!

Even better than catching up with favorite authors and their characters was coming across quite a few new to me authors that I know I will be looking up in the future! Standouts for me were:
Shannon Stacey’s Second Shot, which was just as cute as can be with a lost puppy giving two estranged lovers a second chance at romance.
Red Hot Trouble by Lily Harlem, with a playboy who isn’t really the player the press make shim out to be.
Melody Heck Gatto’s Icing Isn’t Only for Cookies with a hero that truly saves the day and brings smiles to those who need it most. I also loved this is based in my own home town!
The Final Slapshot by Jean C. Joachim which really puts love to the test when a career ending injury turns their world upside down.
And, Christmas Interference by Lisa B. Kamps. This one was a little more serious, but stole my heart! It’s about second chances for not only love but friendship as well when tragedy pulls apart childhood friends and lovers.

Honestly, this collection has something for everyone. Some stories are super sweet while others pack quite a level of heat. There are second chance romances, first time encounters, stories on the more serious side and even a few m/m romances tossed into this mix. If you happen upon a story that doesn’t suit your tastes, you can easily skip to the next. It’s a wonderful collection made even more fabulous knowing that 100% of the proceeds from sales of this anthology will be donated to charity. 4.5 stars!

I'm not sure how to review so many books in an anthology so I just picked a few I enjoyed most and familiarity. Most of those have different themes and are somewhat related to past series of the author's or brand new shorts. There's something for everyone.

Shannon Stacey A Second Shot

I've read Shannon's other books the family series and I didn't know she had a sports themed books. This was pretty solid for the length, it had background and details and still have a good plot. A rescue pup always helps bring people together. I enjoyed this secind chance romanceavout putting people you love first. I like the author's writing will check out her hockey series.

Kate Willoughby His Christmas Cinderella

This was a cute twist to the Cinderella story, the Christmas part was also great. A fake Uber driver and a hockey player unlikely match but they had good chemistry. A night to remember turns into a chase to find the elusive girl.

Lisa B Kamps Christmas Interference

This was another second chance series, though not familiar with the characters I've read her series before. I like how the holidays made way the reunion of Chloe and Shane. Shane became cold and indifferent and a little holiday magic always helps those. It was sweet and cute and the title witty.

Toni Aleo When You're Ready

The longest of the stories, it's about Grace and James. Those familiar with the Assasin series will have an idea. Grace is Shea's twin and a sort of prequel this tale. How they started and in the author's fashion this heroine has her issues to overcome. James is super patient and devoted still hence the title. It's also an intro for the author's new series which sounds good.

4 star Review Hockey Holidays - A Wolfe Brothers Christmas (Game on in Seattle #6.5) by Jami Davenport

There is a something for everyone in this 18 story Hockey Holiday Anthology. I am reviewing
“A Wolfe Brothers Christmas” by Jami Davenport.

Christmas is the most magical time of the year and also happens to be my most favourite holiday. I love any story that is centred around Christmas; it’s a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate life.

Although a quick read, this story packed a punch. Determined to have a family Christmas the Wolfe brothers, their wives and family are holidaying together. Can the magic of the Christmas season bring together these 3 brothers, emotionally damaged by their childhood, each determined to best the other? Or will their constant arguing and competitiveness cause a tragedy that neither they or their families will be able to survive?

All 3 Wolfe brothers Isaac, Zeke and Tanner frustrated me so much whilst I was reading this story. All I really wanted to do was smack them all across the head and tell them to grow up. I know they have scars from a horrid childhood but honestly they annoyed me so much. Their wives Avery, Paisley and Emma on the other hand deserve medals.

When their constant bickering causes 5 year old Sadie to run away, the men have to dig deep and own their responsibility in causing her to flee. Will they get a Christmas miracle and find Sadie before it is to late? As they race against time to find the little girl, they are forced to join forces and work as a team.

I love that Ms.Davenport’s characters are not perfect, they are flawed and the situations they find themselves in are easy to relate too, her characters are strong and this was a well written story.

Hockey Holidays has a story for every time of the year. Whether catching up with old friends, falling in love for the first time, dreaming with a broken heart or getting the chance to finally get things right this anthology consists of tales that appeal to everyone. Kate Willoughby appeals to the romantic in us all with a modern day fairytale meant to run away with your heart. Kat Mizera and Jami Davenport remind us that family is the gift that keeps on giving with a few special surprises thrown in for good measure. Shelley, Kay, Scott, Locey, Julian and Jacobs prove that given time, life and love have a way of working themselves out. With eighteen stories, it's hard to pick a favorite, because they all take aim at the heart.

This review is based only on the Toni Aleo story.

For much of the Assassins series Grace and James have been in the background. We got to see more of them with End Game, or at least more of the family. So with this throw back story of how Grace and James first met and their romance it was fun. I didn't expect Grace to be so gunshy. I often laughed, especially when she was shooting James down and Shea was chiming in. It made the ending to their story all the more sad, they should have had more time.

I highly recommend this title to anyone who loves a hockey romance!

How We Fell in Love by Toni Aleo, features Grace and James Justice. For anyone who is familiar with The Assassins series, and the title End Game, you will be very familiar with this pair of characters. The events in this novella take place prior to Taking Shots, and it gives us a glimpse into the special relationship that twins, Grace and Shea Adler share. This title may not be very long, but its incredibly well written, and boy does it pack an emotional punch. Told from Grace's point of view, in the form of journal entries, we are given a glimpse of just how persistent, and loving James Justice was as a younger man. This title had me in tears, it's a beautiful, sweet and heartfelt romance and I cannot wait to see what Ms Aleo will release next.

This review/rating is just for the 3 m/m romance stories.

A Star-Crossed Christmas by V.L. Locey
Very sweet story of second chances and taking a childhood friendship to another level. I've not read the series this book is attached to but it had no impact on my enjoyment.

Dallas Christmas by RJ Scott - Lovely second chance romance. This one made me tear up at times.

Holding On Tight by Susan Scott Shelley - Established couple celebrating their first Christmas together and everything goes wrong. No need to have read their previous story (although I'm curious enough to consider picking it up). Slightly angsty with a HEA.

This Christmas-themes hockey anthology has something for everyone: a couple struggling with their relationship, second chance romances, M/M and more.

I am reviewing The Final Slapshot, by Jean C. Joachim. I really enjoyed the different sides to Kitty and Deke’s relationship in this story. He’s hiding a career-ending secret, which she actually knows about and is struggling with how to make them a same-city couple once again. Thinking that a divorce is the best option for his beautiful wife, so she won’t have to be saddled with him, Deke puts the plans into motion without discussing it first. The blow-up leads to some really pure, honest moments with this couple, and Deke eventually comes to realize that there is more to hockey than being on the ice itself.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

love Kat's stories and this was no different. If was just enough backstory to leave me highly anticipating her next story starring Royce. I hope to see more about Dmitri and Angel since there was a drop of the ball of what ultimately happens between them with the baby, her college and the dynamics of the family.

I’m reviewing “When You’re Ready” by Toni Aleo, and oh my heart was it beautiful! The story of Grace and James Justice, as told via Grace’s journal during the time of them meeting. If you’ve read Toni’s Assassins series, you know this pair have been loving a long time but actually experiencing how that love began was amazing. Seeing Shea talk about wanting his forever and Grace describe who she thought she’d be was so great! But watching James love her and work so hard to convince her that she was worthy and lovable and his?! Gah so many swoons! If you haven’t read all of Toni’s books, you should and this was such a beautiful example of what her storytelling does. All the feels. All the emotions.

There were a lot of authors in this anthology that were new to me. I picked this up for Toni Aleo. I would read the phone book if Aleo rewrote it and her book didn't disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised by Mary Smith. I had never heard of her before this. Now I'm finding that I want to pick up her entire series.
