Cash Hawkins is the sheriff of Oak Bluff, California and lives a rather solitary life after having moved to the city and returned with a broken heart. Olivia Belle is a runaway bridesmaid after her boyfriend stunned her with an impromptu (and unwanted) proposal at his sister’s wedding. She’s fled San Francisco and come to Oak Bluff looking to capture the magic of her grandparents’ courtship many years ago. Cash captures her speeding car on radar and the fun begins.
Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed by this story. It was too short for any serious relationship development and I found Olivia immature and silly instead of carefree and charming. I missed what made both of them fall for each other and the premise of the story was weak. It’s probably me as so many others have given high ratings but this was just a big miss for me.

This was just a whole lot of fun. I really went into this story with no expectations since I have never read any of A.J. Pine's work but I ended up really enjoying myself. This was a novella so it can easily be read in a single sitting and works really well as stand alone. This is one of those stories that just left me with a big old grin on my face because it was just such a feel good romance.
Cash is the sheriff in the small town of Oak Bluff. It is a quiet town without a whole lot of excitement. It is just him and his dog and he is looking forward to quiet night on the job. He didn't count on Olivia. Olivia is caught racing through town in a bridesmaid's dress after fleeing a proposal. One thing leads to another and Cash ends up taking Olivia to the station.
This story started out on a pretty comical note but it was obvious early on that these two were great together. Cash was such a nice guy and wanted to spend as much time with Olivia as he could. They have both been burned by previous relationships but they just seemed to fit very well with each other and seemed to be ready for more in their lives. I thought that they had great chemistry with each other and that their emotions felt really authentic.
I would recommend this story to others. It was a really playful story and a romance that you couldn't help but want to see work out. I loved the humor worked into the story and the characters were easy to fall for. I wouldn't hesitate to read more from A.J. Pine in the future.

Have you ever heard of a runaway bridesmaid ?
Meet Olivia Belle, an event coordinator who just fled her fiancé sister's wedding after he proposed. She run away to Oak Bluff, her grandmother's hometown, because she heard romantic stories about it.
Sheriff Cash Hawkins is about to eat his lunch, peaceful in his car with his dog, Dixie, when he spot a Yellow Bug speeding, driven by a pretty brunette in a ball gown.
Not the welcome committee Olivia expected. Certainly didn't think she would spend her first day in Oak Bluff in handcuffs.
"Oh God. Am I going to have a mug shot?"
So things doesn't get off to a good start for Cash and Olivia, but it won't stay that way for too long. He's got a great sense of humor, even if it's not the first impression he give. But it's clear for him he'll never have a relationship with a woman who's not from town because his life is here in Oak Bluff and he doesn't want to leave.
She have commitment issues. Why, you ask ? Well, doesn't it always begin with the parents ?
"My dad married my mom. They had me. Years later they decided they hated each other, so they divorced and are still living hatefully ever after to this day."
Olivia doesn't really know what she wants in life, she just know that she doesn't want what was proposed to her. She wonder what it would be like to throw caution to the wind, and there could never be a more perfect man for testing it than the first man to make her heart go pitty patter.
"The Everetts let me ride every now and then-whenever I get to missing it."
"Are you missing it right now ?", she asked, already knowing the answer.
"I am." The wistful look in his eyes softened the hard lines of his face.
She sighed. "Why does hearing you talk about horseback riding like that make me want to kiss you?"
This novella was included in an other book I purchased and it was the first time I read something by A.J. Pine. I absolutely loved this story and these characters, you can be sure I'm going to look for the rest of the series ! In fact, what a great way for the author to make us want to read the next book coming at the end of August ! Two intriguing scenes with the next MC :)
Yeah I know the falling in love happened really fast, especially for two people who had a hard time opening their heart to love, but it didn't make me doubt their feelings for each other.
I was charmed by the writing style. It's no secret I'm a big fan of witty lines, nicknames fitting with the context and sweet romance. It was all I want to find when I'm reading a romance.
Lately, Forever/Grand Central Publishing has done that often (at least, in their cowboy romance) : including novellas with an other book and it's a pretty great marketing strategy. It made me happy and made me click to buy the rest of the Crossroads Ranch series.

April 18, 2018I wrote it, so I guess I read it! SAVED BY THE COWBOY is a novella that comes in between books 1 and 2 of the Crossroads Ranch series (SECOND CHANCE COWBOY and TOUGH LUCK COWBOY). It can be read as a stand alone (as can all books in the series). I can't wait for you to meet Sheriff Cash Hawkins and runaway bridesmaid Olivia Belle!

Saved by the Cowboy by A.J. Pine is a quick, sweet, romantic and highly entertaining read.
The storyline is well paced, well written and a perfect Sunday afternoon's read.
From the first meeting Cash and Olivia captured my interest, I loved watching them getting to know each other, rub each other the wrong way and to trust their hearts and not run away from their feelings.
These two might not have been looking for love but once they came into each other's lives there was no denying they were perfect for each other.
Saved by the Cowboy is a lovely addition to the Crossroads Ranch series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them.

This is my first A.J. Pine read, although she's been on my radar for a little while now. I've been actively seeking more cowboy romances this year and that means trying new to me authors. The only thing I wish is that I had started with book 1. Not because this can't be read as a standalone novella, because it can be. But because I probably should've had my first taste of this author be a full length novel.
Novellas are such a tricky thing to write and I'm personally very picky. I can't buy into such deep instant connection that would make someone uproot their whole lives from one place to another. One way of life to another. I know this happens for people in real life, but it's not something I've ever been able to wrap my head around so it's hard to see it and believe it in books. That's also why I do better with novellas where the characters have history already. They just need the extra push.
SAVED BY A COWBOY is about a woman who is used to run away from everything, in this case she's running away from a lack luster proposal for marriage. She decides instead to go back to the town where her grandparents lived and find some love letters of theirs, seeking the true meaning of love and maybe figuring out why she won't settle down and find it herself. What she finds is the town's Sheriff after he pulls her over for speeding and the whirlwind kind of love and connection she hasn't been able to find in her every day life.
Like I said, it was hard for me to buy into it beyond the initial lust and attraction. But I still found the story to be cute and endearing, as a lot of small town romances often are. While this didn't quite give me the cowboy fix I was looking for, it was a fun and quick read. I'll definitely give this author another try.

I've been a big fan of A.J. Pine's Crossroads Ranch series since I picked up Second Chance Cowboy earlier this year. I devoured Tough Luck Cowboy and anxiously awaited the third book. What I forgot was that I had a novella just sitting there waiting to be read. Oops.
Saved by the Cowboy was a great, quick read. It fed my need for more in the Crossroads Ranch series and it didn't matter a bit that I read it out of order. Cash and Olivia's story was super cute and I really enjoyed it. They had a great meet cute, oodles of chemistry and plenty of swoons, all packed into a little over 100 pages. This was a total feel-good romance and I cheesy grinned my way through the biggest part of it. I adored the way things progressed with their relationship and I also liked the secondary story with Olivia and her search for her grandparents' letters.
I thought Saved by the Cowboy was a great addition to the Crossroads Ranch series. Now I can go back to waiting on Walker's story in Hard Loving Cowboy! I can't wait to get my hands on the last Everett brother!

So adorable! This funny, cute, lovely novella is just the ticket for a rainy day read! Olivia Belle is on the run when she speeds into Oak Bluff. Sheriff Cash Hawkins doesn't know what to make of wild-eyed girl in a purple ball gown. Two people with confused ideas about love have to discover their own paths.
There were laugh-out-loud moments and lots of clever writing. This feel-good story checks all the right boxes.

Much like the book itself, I’m going to keep this one short and sweet—A.J. Pine’s Saved by the Cowboy is a wonderful, easily read and easy-to-enjoy novella. It was the perfect read for a busy weekend; a well-written book that had feels and heart, that called to me when I had to put it down and walk away, and that left me with a tall, dark and handsome reason to smile.
Not to mention, another reason to anticipate the next book in Ms. Pine’s Crossroads Ranch series, which was teased tantalizingly here and will be available—thankfully—in just a couple of weeks. Until then, get saved by this sometimes-cowboy—he (and his Speed Racer) are most definitely worth it!
He didn’t hold back. He didn’t worry about self-preservation. He just kissed her like it was the last time he ever would.

Cash Hawkins never expected his quiet little town would be entertaining a force such as Olivia Belle - but when the beautiful woman comes speeding through town and promptly gets herself arrested, Cash knew from the moment he laid eyes are her, his life would change.
I LOVED Olivia, who is a spitfire, and Cash, the gorgeous sheriff of Oak Bluff.
This was a fun quick read with a lot of heart.

This was such a cute, sweet story about a grumpy sheriff and a hot mess runaway. I absolutely loved them together, and their banter with each other was perfect. It's such a perfect read to get lost in for a couple of hours. Cash and Olivia were so cute and I just want to spend more time with them and Dixie.
I can't wait to head back to Oak Bluff for book 2!!

This novella in the crossroads ranch series brings together the small town country sheriff and the executive city girl in an explosive courtship that takes them both completely by surprise.
Olivia is in town on the hunt for old love letters between her grandparents, and somehow manages to keep running afoul of the law in her search...speeding down a dark country road somewhere just shy of light speed, wearing a bridesmaids dress and carrying no possessions, including her wallet.
After her initial run in with the sheriff after her speeding incident, she tries her hand at a little B&E - breaking into the home her grandmother once lived in...and just so happens to be owned by none other than the sheriffs mom.
Yet despite her penchant for getting herself into trouble, Cash can't seem to keep his mind...or hands...off of her. Olivia and Cash fall hard and fast, two lonely souls that have finally found what was missing. But the obstacles of their divergent lives could put a definite crimp in their fledgling love.
I completely enjoyed this short romance by A.J. Pine. I was pulled in by the chemistry and banter between Cash and Olivia - rooting for them to fight the odds and come out on top - together.

Cash Hawkins is the sheriff in Oak Bluff, a small town that really does not have much going on. That is until Olivia Belle comes flying in with her little yellow bug and interrupts his dinner, little would he know she would continue to interrupt him during her stay. After having to arrest her for not having her license, and the whole scene at the car is really funny she is later let go only to be caught later that night in the local antique store which so happens to be his mothers. In less than a few hours the crime wave of Olivia Belle has made her presence known and felt. Now comes the reason she is there in town trying to find her grandparents lost letters, not for them but for her. She wants to find their secret on what love is and it must be in those letters because their marriage has lasted for 48 years. Don’t worry she still cause’s trouble not just for the town but for a certain sheriff as well. See what happens with this fun book about to people searching for love. A very good book. Olivia Belle has just gone to a wedding and was actually proposed to. However, it was more like a business proposition. Very little romance was involved. Olivia decides to head to her grandparents' hometown to look for their love letters of fifty years ago. She thinks finding them and reading them will teach her how to actually find a love of her own.
Sheriff Cash Hawkins quickly pulls over a woman speeding through town. Business indeed, but Cash wouldn't mind getting to know the woman better. He gets that very opportunity when he discovers that she will be spending a little bit of time in his town. He soon discovers that he is not the only one looking for a happily ever after.
What an adorably story! It was quite humorous at the outset with what happened after Olivia got pulled over, but it was also a sensitive love story. I loved Olivia and Cash's story and actually have read the entire series before writing this review.

Sheriff Cash Hawkins and Olivia Bell had sparks right from the beginning. Even though this is a quick read, you’ll find yourself rooting for these two! Cash has been hurt by love in the past and Olivia has her own issues when it comes to relationships. She’s a runner when it comes to commitment. Will she run again or take a chance on love?
Saved by the Cowboy was a very cute, fun, and enjoyable read! I also loved Cash’s dog Dixie!

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) Ok I normally like this author, this book not so much will not continue to read this series. I don't mind insta-loves but this story was just too rushed. In this day and age for these two to have sex with no protection, what?, yeah can not condone and cheating hate it.

I love this damn series! Honestly, I'm reading it backwards and still enjoying every second of it. I'm always skeptical of short stories, but this one was well-developed and so much fun. It's a fast love, but adorable nonetheless. I enjoyed seeing Cash open up, and seeing Olivia find herself. This is a great edition to the sexy Everett brothers series!

Saved by the Cowboy was a really good read, although I had not read book 1 I didn’t feel I was missed anything. Great characters and an enjoyable storyline I look forward to reading all of this series and would recommend it to other readers

No one from town would dare speed by him like that, so he immediately follows the car signaling it to pull over. What he didn’t expect was for Cinderella to be inside a tiny car. Olivia Belle wasn’t thinking of anything but running away as fast as she could from a marriage proposal, so when she hopped in her yellow car, she forgot to take her wallet, driver’s licence and a change of cloth until she was stopped while speeding. With no license or anything else to prove that the car is hers, Sheriff Hawkins takes Olivia to the police station where she waits until her friend sends all her information in to prove who she is.

Olivia didn’t pick Oak Bluff for no reason to run away to. Her grandparents had met there years ago and had left behind evidence of their love in the form of letters they wrote to each other while he was in the service. But the letters are no longer where her grandmother had left them and now it is up to Olivia and Sheriff Hawkins to track down the letters’ whereabouts.
Saved By The Cowboy is a short story from the Crossroads Ranch series where a city girl runs away to a small town in order to find true love. On the way she meets Sheriff Hawkins who has his own mysterious love past and although he finds himself having feelings for Olivia, he knows better than to stop her from going back to her life. The Sheriff is really fun and has great moments throughout the book. He takes his job seriously and has an adorable mom and dog. Throughout the story he comes to realize what is best for him and Olivia, but makes it very clear that he’ll keep loving her even if she leaves.

Olivia is true to herself and makes it clear to the Sheriff that she is bad with commitments. After all, she did runaway from a proposal. Olivia was a fun character just like the Sheriff, she’s sarcastic, outspoken and not scared to stand for herself. I would back Olivia on her decision for not accepting the marriage proposal, she would have not been happy at the long time.

The Sheriff had closed his heart to love and then Olivia appeared speeding through his town waking up something inside him, while Olivia discovered that having it all in the city wasn’t true happiness for her, that sometimes you just need a weekend getaway to find more than what one is looking for. If you like a good cowboy/romance story, Saved by the Cowboy is for you.

I started “Tough Luck Cowboy” then backtracked to read this book when I got to a scene where Cash showed up on pages. Now I don’t know if I should feel glad or sorry for doing so. You see, I love brooding and hunky law enforcement slash cowboy. I’m all for insta-love or love at first sight even. But “Saved by the Cowboy” just fell short of my expectation. I don’t want to blame it on the length of the story as there were novellas that left quite some impact and great as a standalone. But I really felt a big part of the issue I got here was the sequence. Everything was rushed.
Exhibit A was how Olivia jumped into a tryst with someone in mere hours after meeting him. While she was still in a relationship with another. Or not yet ended it. Now I don’t know if I should include this into exhibit A or put it into a new one; but dismissing rubbers on the account ”I’m on the pill” with someone you just met when you’re still in relationship with another!?!?! Recklessness and stupidity of the highest order! And for a man of law to just grin and go with it?? I had no words!!
I guess Olivia characters just grated too much for me to like her. Never mind this novella fell under the rom com genre that I should’ve just thought, aww what a cute/sweet whatever and giggle, the opposite was what happened when I read her antics. Cash was not much better with his hot and cold demeanor, but at least he got that adorable German shepherd that he spoiled rotten. Still, he’s mighty loose lip for a LEO - just because the stranger he met was an attractive woman??
I love small town romance and that second chance story between Luke and Lily still hold appeal to me. So I guess I’ll just consider this novella a fluke and move on to the full novel.

Wow!! This is the second book that I have read by A.J Pine and I have found my favorite author. Her stories are so grounded and riveting that it makes me tingle all over. The first book that I read by this author was Second Chance Cowboy and I gave that story 5 stars and was well deserved. I read this book in one sitting after having to work for 8 hours and not even exhaustion stopped me from reading this book. It was impossible for me to put down. I guess I should give you the summary of the story since I already told you my rating. So let's jump in.!
I'm guessing this is 1.5 of the Crossroads Ranch series because it doesn't involve none of the Everett brothers. This book is also a lot shorter than the first book, but what it lacks in length it makes up for it in awesomeness. This book is about the sheriff and his "Cinderella". Sheriff Cash is enjoying a quiet night on traffic duty when a yellow beetle zooms past him going 20 miles over the limit. At the wheel is Olivia and she is on a mission to find her grandparents' love letters. They both have a painful past and both are afraid to take that life changing step. The clock is ticking until Olivia has to return to the real world, will love conquer all or will this be another event in Olivia's rear view mirror?
The characters had so much chemistry and they basically jumped off of the page. Cash was not your typical hero with his big heart and bad habit of saving Olivia at every turn. He put his heart on the line even knowing that Olivia was a flight risk. It was beautiful when their relationship blossomed from jailer and criminal to lovers. This author just has a way of writing such wonderful characters with amazing compatibility. An invigorating and refreshing story with heart and an amazing small town, Saved by the Cowboy is a great, but short story to read. Pick it Up!!!

Olivia Belle is a runner. No, not a race runner or a delivery runner. She runs from commitment, specifically romantic commitment. It’s not that she doesn’t believe in romance and true love—she’s seen it up close and personal with her grandmother and grandfather. But she’s also seen what happens when romance and love fade with her forever bickering parents. So when her current squeeze gets down on one knee in the middle of his sister’s wedding, Olivia runs. Not just anywhere, but to the place where her grandparents met because that’s where she thinks she’ll find the answer of how to fall in love.
Sheriff Cash Hawkins is more than fond of his town. He grew up here and aside from going to school in New York, he’s stayed in Oak Bluff and that’s been just fine. Just as fine is that the only two women in his life are his mother and his German Shepard Dixie. He sees his fair share of women, but burned once, he’s not open to it twice. Not much happens in Oak Bluff and he’s not exactly pleased with his otherwise quiet Saturday night on patrol is disrupted by a speeder. In short order Olivia is in cuffs, arrested by Cash. But seriously, who captured who?

I’m also a fan of westerns and since the story takes place not far from my home, what’s not to like? Pine is a new to me author but I really liked her voice and am looking forward to her reading her again.

One night he's on duty with his dog Dixie in his sleepy little coastal oceanfront California town of Oak Bluff where magically everyone is white and somehow regular people can afford to live there. He pulls over the heroine, Olivia Belle. She's in a huge bridesmaid's dress and she ran away from the wedding when her boyfriend of 15 months proposed to her.
Pluses: A cute subplot is that Olivia is in town to look for her grandparent's love letters. It's where they lived when they first met on one magical night. They exchanged years of letters when he was off at war. Olivia is hoping to find the letters and return them to her grandparents at their upcoming anniversary.
Wishes: Can I please sit down with the folks writing "The cop pulled me over" meet cutes? I've read this a few times in the last year and I have a lot of questions. First of all and forever, the white privilege. The scene is in Cash's POV & he's totally checking her out. Imagine getting pulled over by a cop in a small town that you are unfamiliar with and the cop is checking you out. What's sexy about that? That's scary. There is really not any conflict in this book except their feelings, but novellas are hard to pull off bc of the length.

This novella was a quick fling. I was intrigued by the description, but it took me a few chapters to actually get into it. I didn't realize going in that this was part of a series, and perhaps that's why it felt like there was too little development in the beginning. Oak Bluff seems to be this special place, but it never really gets the drawn out detail it deserves, especially since it's Olivia's first time there. Cash seems to be a feature character, but even he and his dog don't get that much description. I couldn't actually picture what he looked like, which for a romance novel, seemed a tragedy indeed.
While I thought generally, the descriptions could have been much, much better, more detailed, and given more time to grow, what I did like was the love story. Cash didn't expect Olivia to change for him, and she didn't expect him to change for her. There wasn't this idea that one had to give anything up for the other. In many romances, the woman (more generally) is asked to give up something to be with the man of her dreams, or, more recently, has had to give up something in order to find the man of her dreams. That wasn't the case in Saved by the Cowboy. Although the title suggests that Olivia was this woman who needed saving, I would argue that both characters save each other in the end.
I would imagine that someone who'd read the other texts in this series would enjoy this more than I did, but it was sweet and quick, and overall, a fun journey.

While I thought generally, the descriptions could have been much, much better, more detailed, and given more time to grow, what I did like was the love story. Cash didn't expect Olivia to change for him, and she didn't expect him to change for her. There wasn't this idea that one had to give anything up for the other. This little novella is not only enthralling, but also quite uplifting, proving that love can be found in some of the most unexpected places, even if you have to go on a road trip to find it! Watching Olivia and Cash find love was an enjoyable journey, I mean what is not to love about a handsome cowboy coming to the rescue, and bringing a happily ever after along with him. I highly recommend this one, it's sure to leave your heart happy!

I had such fun with Saved by the Cowboy, and if you love cowboys, small towns, sass, bantering and a love to warm up any heart… then you would, too. As a novella, this story is a rather quick read, and it gives you a taste of the Crossroads Ranch series if you haven’t read the introductory first story, Second Chance Cowboy.
I liked Cash and Olivia individually and as a couple. They both have had relationship troubles in their pasts, they aren’t as trusting as they once were and putting themselves out there to try again is… scary, I guess is a way to say it. Olivia as a magnet for trouble, and Cash reluctantly is getting her out of that trouble as their own unique relationship builds. If you’re looking for a fun, banter filled, laugh out loud moments romance with a couple that simply fits together even if they can’t see that at first, then you’ll want to pick up Saved by the Cowboy… and maybe get hooked on a series as well. There’s just enough information to make waiting for Tough Luck Cowboy to release something to look forward to and it adds a touch extra to this story. I had a good time with Cash and Olivia and would definitely recommend their story and the series to any cowboy loving Romance reader who enjoys a solid story, likable characters and that small town feel.
