Naomi’s acting career is on the upswing – until her charming ex-husband pulls strings to play Petruchio to her Katherine in a new film version of Taming of the Shrew. Sparks fly in a battle of the sexes, but are they real? That’s the problem with falling in love with an actor – something she promised herself she’d never do again after Kirk broke her heart the first time. Rings and Things is a Christian romance in the Highland Park Series. Each book of the series is standalone without cliffhangers and the books can be read in any order.

Happily-ever-after is my drug of choice. Not that I won’t read or watch a sad story (now and then), but I crave happy endings. I love Jane Austen, Cinderella stories, and 1930s screwball comedies. (Think An AFFAIR TO REMEMBER or WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING). Since real life has a way of being tough enough, I write sweet, quirky contemporary romances to take the edge off.
What you will find in my stories:
1. Sweet quirky romance.
2. Very little swearing. There may be an occasional hell or damn, maybe even a b*tch, but there will be no Lord’s name in vain and no f-bombs.
3. No explicit sex scenes. Characters might discuss sex, but any love scenes are off screen (Think AFRICAN QUEEN).
This was a fast, yet thoroughly enjoyable read. I really liked Naomi, even with the huge chip on her shoulder, and definitely liked her ex-husband before the end. One thing I appreciated, was that the timing of the book did not take place over the course of a few weeks. Since Naomi was involved with a different man at the beginning of the book, I was happy that it took more than a brief time to switch interests and there was nothing that even resembled cheating. This is a sweet and clean romance that had a fun, relatable story. Getting to know the characters was delightful and reading about a new take on Taming of the Shrew was a blast. I recommend this book as a quick, clean read and look forward to more from this author. I did receive a free copy of this book; all opinions are my own.
For what it's worth, I found the cover eye-catching & perceived the woman as looking defensive & maybe even a little suspicious. I think that works perfectly for the heroine of the story.
The story is fun and Kirk as a repentant bad boy trying to undo the damage of his past is endearing (and pretty swoony at it, too)! Naomi's distrust and reluctance are perfectly understandable, as well. The transition from Jeff back to Kirk happened a little too quickly without enough exposition, but the ending was fun & the story resolves satisfactorily enough to leave me smiling. I wouldn't have minded an epilogue that gave us a little more extended view of their future happiness though.
This is a sweet, clean, Christian themed romance and not at all preachy. I've read and enjoyed many books by this author. As with her other books, she creates likable, intelligent characters with good common sense.
A beautiful, romantic story with flawed, yet believable and endearing characters. I highly enjoyed Kirk and Naomi's chemistry and it was a delight to follow them until their happy ending.
They were married once but let their relationship fall apart. Now years later they end up filming together. Can they fall in love again? Sweet clean romance.
