I love this series. I hope that they write many more adventures of Omen and Tormy. I'm going to re-read the series.😀

I guess this is the end?

This series as a whole has been difficult to review, and the fifth and apparently final book is no easier. I suppose I shall have to remain content with saying a few words about what I liked, and what I didn’t; this will primarily be in terms of character development and story, rather than technical notes about writing. You can read about that in my earlier reviews—not much has changed in this respect.

I enjoyed the scope and imaginative worldbuilding of this series more than anything else. This book is no less enthralling that way: strange faerie realms, ancient evil and intriguing new magic lies at every corner. The other reason I enjoyed these books is, of course, the cats. Tormy and Tyrin are just as entertaining as always.

There are a few things I didn’t like about this book, and the series as a whole. (Minor spoilers ahead.) The witch Indee gets away far too lightly with hexing Kyr; frankly, the dragons should have punished her the moment she cast it. Khylars’ motivation for his actions was weak—we really didn’t get a sense of his character, how he changed living in the Autumn Lands, and why he did what he did.

As for the ending, I’ll say this: while it did tie up loose ends and keep open the possibility of future stories, I found it rather unsatisfying. Everything was too easy—and many of the characters, including Omen, didn’t grow enough from the experience. He remains too naive, his powers undeveloped.

So, why four stars, despite all these problems? The best answer I can give you is that I enjoyed reading Of Cats and Dragons. It’s a rather brilliant fantasy world with talking cats—what more could you ask for? Well, aside from better character development. This could have been an amazing series, but as it is, I think it’s good enough to not be a waste of time.

Omen and his companions have finally reached the Faerie lands in search of Khylar. But these are realms with numerous dangers for mortals, and when he finally discovers Khylar he finds the truth of their journey has been shrouded in more layers than he expected.

Although this in some senses concludes the adventure that's been building from Summer's Fall through Hollow Season, it's not like everything manages the neat ending Omen was expecting when he set out. I like the layers to the story. Even before now, Omen has had hints this isn't as simple as it appeared. And once he learns, the right answer is nebulous too.

The characters are fantastic. From the weird and wonderful dwellers of the Autumn Lands (Puppy!) to the comfortable banter between Omen, Templar, and the rest of the party, there was always something new to appreciate. The hints about Devestation's past are especially intriguing. Or watching Nikki come into his own. The cast has been slowly but steadily expanding and everybody's got such interesting histories and futures (as hinted by a certain someone early on).

And this wouldn't be a proper sequel without gut-busting humor. The last chapter is particularly good, but there are moments throughout. Whether it's Tyrin's adventures down a mousehole or Dev's internal commentary on events or the zingers Lilyth inadvertantly sets herself up for, even the most serious bits can't stay totally dark.

And Templar, among others, learns the perils inherent in saving the world.

Templar shifted uncomfortably in his seat, his eyes downcast. He twisted one of the rings on his left hand. "He told me that if I was now in the world saving business, he had a number of jobs for me to do, things to fix, people to save, towns to liberate. And then he handed me a list — a long list." He scowled at Omen. "They're like chores, Omen. Lots of chores! It's horrifying."

Overall this is another excellent chapter in what will hopefully be a long-running series. I rate this book Highly Recommended.

Autumn King is the third book in the Quest For The Autumn King trilogy and the fifth book in the Of Cats And Dragons series. It is story telling at it's very best. This marvellous book takes the reader for a wild ride through lands the like of which you have never before seen. The world building is excellent, immersing you so deeply into the setting that you feel you are a part of it. There is fast paced action from start to finish. The characters, both the good and the bad, are fascinating and dynamic. They are full fleshed and very real. The heroes are filled with personality and are very likeable. The villains are terrifyingly evil. You can feel the darkness that surrounds them. There are other characters too, that you can't be sure which side they belong on, or even if they belong on any side at all. Magic is abundant in this extraordinary world. There are electrifying battles where magic crackles through air while magical beasts run amok on the ground. It is filled with magical lands, magical beings, magical dragons, and of course, delightfully magical, incredibly adorable, amazingly courageous, wonderful talking cats. This delightful book is a fun, exciting, fantasy for all. The marvelous minds of Camilla Ochlan and Carol E. Leever, along with their outstanding use of the written word makes Autumn King and all four of the earlier books in the Of Cats And Dragons series a must read.

Awesome book bout the adventures Omen and his friends

Omen and his friends have traveled to see the Autumn King who's been fighting a losing War for 100 years against an evil enemy who hates everything and has unlimited powers. They have many battles before they reach the Autumn King battlegrounds

Omen needs to have the Autumn King come back with him choose to save Kyr from the hex that the Autumn King's mother put on him. However, in order to get him to go back with them they must stop the great evil.

The characters grows in power, developing strength with their weapons, and using their minds creatively to solve problem. The ply has many twists and turn with creative solutions to get out of bad situations.

More I read this epic fantasy, the more I want another book to continue the adventure. I would highly recommend this to readers would like fantasy and adventurous characters. Please give us more.

The final episode in the thrilling saga through the Autumn Gate! Though there are five books in the Of Cats and Dragons series, the last three have been an epic journey trilogy. This is a series no fantasy lover should miss.

Omen, Tormy and their entourage will finally reach the Autumn Gate. The journey, first undertaken to enable them to remove the hex from Omen’s young brother, Kyr, was represented as a rescue of the King of Kharakhan. It becomes apparent that the adventurers were misled. But now they have a much bigger challenge and the outcome will change the fate of their entire world.

What if the King doesn’t want to return to his kingdom? The hex will eventually kill Kyr and if they can’t return the King to Kharakhan it won’t be lifted. How can these intrepid teens thwart the will of a king and save humanity?

Omen Tormy and the rest are going from strength to strength, they had another quest which they had been tricked into and poor Kyr was hexed to ensure Omen would carry out the deed. Wyverns ,tree bears and oclets were just some of the creatures they had to battle to find King Khylar who had been kidnapped. Only he hadn’t. When they actually found him they discovered he was under a magical influence to keep the Autumn Gate open and let all sorts of creatures through that would have destroyed all in their path. Omen and co as usual defeated his purpose and another fantastic story ensued. I am loving the series and hate the thought of it coming to an end. I wish I could give more than five stars.

An exciting end for a thrilling series! The characters have endured a great deal and fought like true heroes. The one thing that left me quite confounded, though, was why Indee seemed to have hexed Kyr and caused him severe pain for a long period of time, and there was literally no punishment for this at all. That still has me baffled. And why the heroes were left with more quests rather than being lauded as heroes. The world is drastically changing around us and it seems it has morphed itself into the real world way of thinking as well and now onto books. I'm not liking this new trend at all really.

Outstanding conclusion, well sort of!

According to my kitty, who was hanging over my shoulder reading along, it was the 'bestednessness book readingnessness' of all. Tormy and Tyreen continue their antics, and manage to surprise us with new stunts and amazing deeds. Who are these kitties, anyway? Omen, Templar and a new group of brave friends face challenges non had ever contemplated before. Grand adventure story, with truly wonderful well-drawn characters (good and ill), I really want to see again in future books. I love this series!!!! Grand read for really any age!!!

I'm not even sure why I'm bothering with a review because unless our dear authors do something horribly drastic, I'll just keep throwing out 5-stars to this series.

Side-eye to Avarice, but I adore everyone else.

This review is for the audible copy which I received free from the author. In this book they get back home & the spell is lifted from Kera. I had a hard time figuring out if the autumn king is found, however. I don't really get what this story is portraying. This is my voluntary review.

Received an ARC edition and can I just say how much I adored this book? This entire series? I loved all the adventure, comedic scenes, the cats, all of it. This is one of the few series that I read monthly. I can't wait for more adventures.
