"I always hoped we'd get a second chance."

Ten years ago, Jonah Miller said goodbye to the boy he loved and the town he grew up in to follow his dreams in New York. Now, with a promising career in interior design and a Manhattan apartment with a view, there's only one thing that's missing...

Mitch Davis always assumed his future was set: career military like every Davis before him and a lifetime in the closet. An injury changes everything, giving him a chance to choose a different future entirely... one with roots and a fixer-upper house in the only town that ever felt like home.

When Jonah and Mitch reconnect, there's no denying their feelings for each other, but making a home isn't as simple as coming back to one. With Mitch's homophobic father still pulling his strings and Jonah's life in New York, the second chance they've waited for feels just as impossible this time around.

Welcome to Hidden Creek, Texas, where the heart knows what it wants, and where true love lives happily ever after. Every Men of Hidden Creek novel can be read on its own, but keep an eye out for familiar faces around town! This book contains a sexy ex-Marine, a sweet interior designer, and a feisty grandpa who will do his best to ensure they make all the right decisions.

This was a sweet second chance romance. Though it's hard to believe that they're easily became a thing again, this 'let's do this again' romance was enjoyable. Because who wouldn't like a lover's reunion romance, right?

Mitch and Jonah are best friends and lovers until they are forced apart by impending adulthood and their lives going in different directions when they are both 18.
Jonah is going to New York to follow his dream of design school & Mitch is joining the marines, it's not his dream but his family's legacy.

"Losing you is going to break my heart."

It was a heartbreaking separation for both of them.
They both return to Hidden Creek after 10 years & find the attraction to each other is as strong as ever.
It doesn't take long for them to pick up where they left off. They were both adorably awkward with each other in the beginning.

Unfortunately life gets in the way for them again and their time together has a short time limit.

"Along with that happy feeling came a twinge of sadness. After so long apart, Mitch had really been looking forward to getting to know Jonah again, to staying up all night talking about their dreams and plans for the future - just like they used to do.

Now he had a week.

It wasn't enough time. Not for anything meaningful, anyway. It seemed a little cruel that fate - or whatever - would bring them back together again now, only to rip them apart so quickly

It wasn't fair."

How will Mitch deal with his homophobic father?
Will Jonah go back to New York?
Will Pops be ok?
Will Mitch's dad interfere?

This was a sweet, feel good second chance romance with a few dramas.

(.• (.•`*Welcome back to Hidden Creek, season two, "where the heart knows what it wants, and where true love lives happily ever after."

I love me a good second chances book and this one had all the makings to being a good one, but somewhere along the way, it became more about proving yourself than exploring the possibilities. Other than a few mentioned places, the town of Hidden Creek was barely a backdrop and there was merely mention of secondary characters I had grown to know and like. Also, the main issue of the book, Mitch's father's reason for his homophobia and his reasons behind it just fell short.

Had this book been able to hold my attention like all the others, I am sure I would have loved it. There seemed to be so much more that could have been said or explored. I love romance, and these two spent more time between the sheets than anything else.

Some may think I am trashing this book, I am not. This one really had me in my feelings. I have read enough of this author's books to know what can be written.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author through LesCourt.

Wow. I am absolutely in love with Jonah and Mitch. They were best friends and lovers who got separated by life, and found each other again 10 years later. There are still a bunch of obstacles in their way (long distance, homophobic father), but one thing that has never changed is their love for the other. They were so sweet together, and I was rooting for them to find their HEA. My heart broke a number of times for them as they tried to come to terms with how much time they had left together. I may have shed a few tears. I loved Jonah's Pop, too. He was a great support.

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC provided by LesCourt Author Services

Would have enjoyed this more without anticipating Mitch's dad. UGH! Get that out of the way, rest of story was great. A truly wonderful second chance story. Loved 'Pop'!!!

** Each book is by diff. author but can be read alone. I like seeing how Bottom's Up affects the town
members.

Not my favourite in the series.

The first one I've actually skimmed through portions of in this series. I'm really quite disappointed with this. I understand a desire for a happily ever after but it is too over the top.. the change in Franklin is unbelievable and ultimately ruins the story and the most realistic character in this while story was Pop, the only one who seemed more than one dimensional. Even Doris didn't feel right in comparison to how we have seen her portrayed in previous stories. I don't know.. maybe I just need a break before continuing the series - because while a lot of the others had almost unbelievable HEA endings, this whole story was unbelievable (and not in the good way).

DNF at 30%
Could not get around the lack of interest, most of the first 30% are a long list of physical trait Mitch likes about Jonah and vise versa. They jump into bed after 10 years of not seeing each other in an almost careless manner and frankly? I could not care less for them too. The part I stopped readin at was a way too long scene were Mitch is having so hands on action after Jonah and he met, and it was just not working for me. It revolved around purely physical descriptions with no plot or story behind them.
Could not get into it, I will try to continue but for now, DNF.

I have a love/hate relationship with these kind of books. While I love the idea of them, the execution normally leaves me feeling unfulfilled. Because the men in them end up wasting years of their lives when it was totally unnecessary, or unfair. Here, that wasn't really the case. The break wasn't all that tragic. They weren't ripped apart. Jonah and Mitch needed to go their separate ways to get to the point in their lives where a relationship was viable. Between Jonah needing to go to NY for his dream, and Mitch being unable to be out because of his dad, it made sense for them to separate.

However, this book does kind of fall into a part of this trope I have the most trouble with. These men haven't seen each other in 10 years. We don't know how many times they've spoken in the interim, but it has been years. However, things are seamless for them getting back together. Mitch has never had another lover in the intervening years, we don't know about Jonah but he does come off as hung up on Mitch. It has been 10 years. They are different men from when they were 18, or they should be. There should be some acclimation period when they get back together. But it wasn't nearly as bad as other books like this I have read.

Lastly, SPOILERS:::

Mitch's dad's flip-flop came out of nowhere. His dad went from raging, violent homophobe to happy for his gay son and his gayness seemingly immediately. It was jarring. It could have been more of a slow transition, and I see where his dad was coming from, but the way it was handled seemed way too good to be true given the context of their relationship up to that point.

Otherwise, it was a decent read if not a bit blah.

I have to admit to squealing upon hearing that more books were being written about The Men of Hidden Creek! This world, which is written by multiple authors, is fun, fantastic and addictive.

Always, by Dillon Hunter, is a wonderful second chance romance.

As teens, Mitch and Jonah were in love, hiding from Mitch's father, but none the less, they were in love. After high school, they separated for different career paths. It wasn't easy saying goodbye then. But, to reunite and say goodbye again? This might kill them.

Mitch's father is a homophobic ass, who has spent his life telling Mitch that no one in their family can be gay. When Jonah comes home for a quick visit with his Pops, they end up reuniting. They know it won't be a long reunion, but they are enjoying every moment they have together.

This story is full of a strong connection, romance, tough decisions, and some stressful family issues.

I fell for both men immediately, and their tender teen moments at the beginning are just swoon-worthy.

I adore the premise of this book. Sometimes you need to re-evaluate what is important and make some changes in your life.

If you love The Men of Hidden Creek, or sweet romances in general, don't miss out on this one by Dillon Hunter.

Second chances are generally hard-won. In the case of Jonah and Mitch it comes fairly easily. There are some definite bumps in the road, but their journey to where they always dreamed and yearned for it to end was mostly sweet and uncomplicated. With the help of the best grandpa in the universe Jonah is able to see that there's more for him in Mitch's gaze than just friendship. Mitch knows he's always wanted Jonah and even though he knows his father would never approve, there's nothing that will stand in his way to have a taste of what he's been missing for the last ten years. I do think that the story felt a little too "high school" or even "new adult" despite their ages and life experiences. I would never believe I'd ever say this, but I think there was a bit too little angst in this story. The familial conflict was built up so much that the conclusion of it was a let-down. While I feel that the resolution was a little too perfect, I can't deny that these two men were meant to be together. Their chemistry and their eagerness for one another is palpable and the love they shared was filled with so much warmth.

What a beautiful secobd chance story!
Jonah and Mitch have been best friends forever, and they have always been in love too, even when they were eighteen and Mitch was so far in the closet that admitting that what they were doing was more than just friends fooling around was unthinkable.
Now, ten years later, they're both back in Hidden Creek, and as soon asvthey set eyes on each other again, all the feelings are back with a vengeance, just as no time has passed at all since they last were together.
This book has so much of everything: so many feelings, so many sexy times, obstacles to overcome together and a sweet, beautiful happy ending!
I couldn't put it down!

I do love a second chance at love book. Jonah and Mitch were separated 10 years ago when they went their separate ways to pursue their career choices. They have never forgot what one another meant to each other though. Jonah is back in Hidden Creek to help his grandfather out after he has had some serious health set backs. Mitch moves back after being discharged from the military. A chance meeting has them together again like they never left one another. There is still drama in their lives though. Hard decisions need to be made that effect all of those involved in this story. This was an enjoyable read that had me gasping “oh no” at every twist thrown their way.

A beautiful, cute, and sweet second chance romance. Mitch and Jonah kept their relationship a secret as teenagers because Mitch's dad is a homophobe and then they went their separate ways after high school. Now they're both back in Hidden Creek and the sparks fly and chemistry sizzles as soon as they see each other. But Jonah is only in Hidden Creek for a visit and Mitch still hasn't stood up to his dad and come out of the closet. I really like watching them reconnect and seeing their relationship grow. But can they make it work this time around. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Second chances

Mitch and Jonah. Friends since childhood, they started a secret
relationship. Friends, lovers, until they graduate and leave Hidden Creek behind.
Jonah to design school in New York, and Mitch for the Marines. This is a sweet second chance novel with a fair amount of heat, familial tension and homophobia, and a feisty grandpa named Pop.
A random moment in the town's diner bring the couple face to face ten years later, but can they survive leaving each other a second time?
This fast paced story is well written and the emotions between the characters are believable and are readily apparent. I really enjoyed this story in the Hidden Creek universe.

Second chance romance.

Second chance romances are one of my favourites, and this was no exception. Jonah is back in Hidden Creek from New York to visit his grandfather. Mitch has returned from the marines, discharged because of an injury. A chance meeting after ten years, has the two of them reconnecting. But Jonah lives thousands of miles away working on his career in design and Mitch has to deal with a very homophobic, controlling mean father. Will the timing ever be right for them? A series of incidents has Jonah reconsidering his career and and his priorities. I thouroughly enjoyed this book from a new to me author. It was emotional and well written.

3.5 stars. Good story, good continuity with the other books in the season, nice tiny cameos from previous book characters. I liked how this relationship progressed very much, coming back together after 10 years apart -- it really felt like these two had been best friends for their entire lives in how they reacted to each other again. My only real quibble: Other than that, a lovely story. I'll be adding some of this author's books to my TBR.

This is a story of second chances.
Ten years before Jonah Miller left his best friend behind when he left for university and his career in New York. Mitchell Davis signed up for the military brokenhearted.
When Jonah comes home to look after his grandfather, the first person he meets is Mitch and the feelings they both had before resurface. So with everything going on would they ever be able to reconnect with what they had before?
This is an excellent addition to the series with its content covering everything from bigotry and prejudice to second chance love.

Second chance love story that will touch your heart. Loving each other was never the issue, being able to be open about that love was. The writing flowed nicely and the story flowed nicely.

I enjoyed seeing these two MC's meet up again after so many years and to be so viscerally connected still. I could feel Jonah and Mitch's love and passion and i so rooted for them to find their way to a HEA!

Loving this Men of Hidden Creek series!

Wow...so far my favorite story of season 2.

I cried in the prologue and multiple time throughout. I related to Mitch and his dad, not in the sense of sexuality but the strain of being in each other lives.

After losing my own grandfather a few months ago, experiencing the relationship Jonah has with his pop made it quite emotional for me.

This book is truly amazing and I can't wait to read more from Dillon!!!

10 years apart, but love shines through

This book skipped past too quickly. There was little drama or angst, but a few little hiccups in the journey. For Mitch and Jonah, as kids they were each others everything, but finding themselves back in their home town at the same time in 10 years, it is obvious immediately how much they still mean to one another, but they have to each think about what they want in life before they are guaranteed a happy ending.

Right from the start, Mitch and Jonah are str-crossed, but true. Ten years later, they get s second chance, when they both come back to Hidden Creek.

Jonah is there to look after Pops, his grandfather, who’s having health problems. Mitch is back after a knee injury that has him leaving the military.

They immediately reconnect, older, but not wise enough yet, until some things happen to give them each the perspective and strength to put their happiness together first.

Lovely.

This was a good second chance story. Jonah and Mitch never really got over leaving each other to move on in their adult world. When circumstances bring them back to town together, sparks and emotions fly right away. Really enjoyed the background characters in this book also. Good overall book. Thanks for the arc. This series is a good one that can really all be read as stand alones also.

Sweet Romance with Spice

Fast read. Second-chance lover story with a heel-turn villain. (Okay, sort of villain) It’s a sweet story with most of the indecision being on Mitch’s (exMarine) side and no details about what Jonah ended up doing after the end. Unless I missed it?

This entry into the MoHC is good.

Wow!!!

Now this is a second chance romance that is worthy of high praise. These two definitely as to fight for there HEA but it was so worth it. Even though I loved how it ended, I do wish we were able to get the inner thoughts of the one who made a 180 in their feelings on these two.

Always and forever

Two of the best words in the romance genre. When it’s a tale of best friends to lovers, well, that just makes it even better. But when one has a homophobic, abusive father it really adds a huge weight to those involved. Such a beautiful, drama filled tale.

I liked the book

I liked the book, but it didn't really reach out and grab me. There wasn't much of the happenings in the town mentioned. It felt like this author hasn't really read the other books.
