After completing his pilgrimage to the Mount Koilash in Tibet, a journey that was recorded in another book 'Himaloy Pare Kailash O Manas Sarobar, হিমালয় পারে কৈলাস ও মানস সরোবর', Pramod Kumar Chattopadhyay, প্রমোদ কুমার চট্টোপাধ্যায় started a long search for the knowledge of Tantra worship. He visited the famous Tantra worship seats of Bengal and beyond.
The world of Tantra is obscure to the common mind; the practices of this path are often taboo to the society. Worshipers hide themselves in the grim Hindu cremation grounds and take up fearsome appearances in their dresses and accessories in order to dispel the curious onlookers. Th cremation grounds are also the necessary place for practicing the various rites of this path. The regular sights of the dead, of burning the dead and the scattered human remains prepare the practitioner of Tantra for the Birachar- the rites of the hero, by removing fear and distinction from his mind. Through this Birachar the Tantrik attains his God.
Tantriks keep themselves elusive from the outsiders for fear of being misunderstood. The writer goes through trials of patience and perseverances to get inside the inner world of the Tantra. He travels from Birbhoom to Assam and little by little learns the secret knowledge of Tantra. He attends many of the Tantriks rites seldom seen before or after by the outsiders.
This is an extraordinary book. It records a disappearing path of attaining God once widely practiced from Tibet to Bengal. Thus it is also a book of history.
Highly recommended, if you are looking for God.
