From the very beginning I have said that The Journey series is really an episodic series that needs to be read in the order that they were written for maximum enjoyment. Although the episodes can be read in any order and enjoyed for their individual plots and storylines, to enjoy and understand the overarching plot line and character development, they need to be read in the order that they were penned. This becomes increasingly more clear beginning with book 2. All of the episodes in this series ends as a cliffhanger in the truest sense of the word.
Fruits of Evil picks up where Nowhere Land ends, with Alice on the run once again. On impulse, she calls her friend Barry in Nebraska and learns that John Barret, the Las Vegas detective that she loves is there with him. They convince her to meet them at a rural convenience store/gas station. Minutes away from being reunited with the only “family” she has, she’s snatched up by Las Vegas mobsters. Alice loses all hope thinking that they intend to kill her, not knowing that John and Barry are on their way to rescue her. She wasn’t snatched to be killed, but to.... Well, you’ll have to read this page-burner to find out why she was kidnapped and how this episode ends.
