Welcome to The Berry Home: where the food is to-die-for! Life is looking sweeter than ever for Kylie Berry, owner-operator of The Berry Home café. She’s even booked a gig hosting a weekend-long conference for some major players in the East Coast shipping industry, with one minor snag: she has no idea how to cater such a big event all by herself.
"Winters will have you giggling into your book!" When an old friend visits Kentucky, the stars align. Chef John Radde, head chef at the swanky Chicago-based Smoulder, graciously offers to cater the entire event using Kylie’s café kitchen. The up-and-coming culinary whiz Chef John can’t resist the free publicity—and Chef Plus Amateur Sleuth Kylie can’t resist the chance to learn a thing or two!
While Kylie runs the storefront and John manages the catering team in the kitchen, disaster strikes the small country town yet again. The dead body of packaging magnate Oliver “Ollie” Drysdale is discovered beneath a dumpster during the conference, and the police suspect murder most foul.
Who stood to benefit from the death of a powerful businessman with piles of cash and still more clout to wield in the business world? Was it his stunning young fiancée Lara Tiggs, who Kylie remembers from her years living in Chicago? Or Lara’s younger brother, Larry, who’s short on sense but loves his big sis to the point of doing anything she asks? Could it have been rival Robert Cornish, who stood toe-to-toe with Oliver in the packaging industry? Or was it his jet-setting youngest son Sebastian, who stood first-in-line to inherit his father’s massively successful business?
Complicating matters further, Kylie’s best friend Zoey rushes to defend Sebastian, who she met and schmoozed with a year ago at the same conference. Kylie has to juggle her business, yet another murder investigation, and brace for a firefight with her best friend when all fingers point straight to Zoey’s crush!

A Berry Home Catastrophe is the sixth book in the Kylie Berry Mystery Series. Though it can be read as a standalone, it's best read in series order.
This is a humorous cozy mystery featuring a strong female protagonist, some unusual friends and family, and a mystery that needs solving! It has no graphic gore, bad language or sex.
. This is the sixth book of the 'Kylie Berry Mysteries'. Cousin Sarah had presented the penniless Kylie with an agreement to purchase the restaurant, Sarah's Eatery, along with ownership of the entire block. In this installment, Kylie Berry has learned to make some edible meals. Through the combined efforts of Kylie and her employees, there are fewer items available on the 'Ooops Board'
This storyline is able to captivate the reader with the plot and character interaction. However, it is questionable how a restaurant with inedible food continues to survive with repeat customers. Another aggravation is the grammatical errors creeping in. There were more grammar issues in this installment than remember noticing in the previous ones. they are a bit distracting momentarily. However, the quirky characters, the twist, and turns in the plot, the interactions between the members of the community, and the camaraderie within the restaurant enticed me to get better acquainted this zany cast more fully.
In this book, Kylie comes face to face with an old acquaintance, Chef John Radde, head chef at the swanky Chicago-based Smoulder. Chef Radde rushed to Kylie's aide, volunteering with a special event. Unfortunately, a body, from the event, was found murdered in the back of Kylie's restaurant. With all her duties at the restaurant, it makes you wonder where Kylie finds the time to join Zoey in questioning people for means, motives, and/or opportunities in regard to the recent murder. True to cozy mystery formula, the heroine and her trusty side-kick, Zoey, are investigating the case. Together, Kylie and Zoey, bumble through their personal style of detecting hoping to find the real killer. Will they succeed?
All in all, this is a CLEAN mystery, that is able to stand on its own, entertains, and concludes satisfactorily. However, it will make more sense if the series is read in order.
Kylie Berry has taken over the restaurant and facilities in Kentucky from her cousin, Sarah. There is a three day packing conference using the facilities upcoming. What will Kylie do....she can hardly cook to make due in her restaurant on any day, let only cook for a conference. Enter Chef John Radde, an old acquaintance of Kylie’s from her life in Chicago who comes to aide her by volunteering to help with the special event. Catering this event will add to the Chef’s resume and fame plus the chef will use the local resources available for his many mouthwatering delights. Kylie is happy to be able to observe and learn techniques from him. The reader will meet the locals that eat at the restaurant plus the little staff Kylie has. Plus we will meet Kylie’s best friend, Zoey. What could spoil this three day set up to ensure great food?? How about the DEAD body of one of the conference’s bigwigs?? Kylie takes out the trash and sees a shoe under the dumpster. Turns out to belong to Oliver Drydale, a packing magnate. How did he die? How did the body get put under the dumpster? Kylie and Zoey start their own investigation. I enjoyed accompanying them on their interviews of who they considered suspects. I was shocked when Kylie had a fire bomb thrown though her bedroom window. Close call but made her more determined than ever to identify the killer. This is book # 6 in the Kylie Berry Mystery series. it can be read as a stand alone as enough past is mix effortlessly with the present.
Well its happened again our young Kylie has managed to stumble upon another dead body and of course it has to be at her The Berry Home café. Kylie is determined to stay out of this one alas for her Zoey is mixed up with this one aaaaaannddd so it begins! At least while Kylie is trying to solve this murder her cafe is in good hands while Chef John from her old life is in running the kitchen while he caters for a function in Kylies function room. There are plenty of twists along with weird and crazy characters and families to keep you guessing, or you might get an idea of who it is but have no clue as to how any of it makes sense until the end which is great!!
Another fun visit with Kylie and Zoey. This time they are trying to clear a guy that Zoey likes whose father was murdered right outside Kylie's back door. We get to meet some people from Kylie's former life in Chicago and see how much different her life is now. We also get updated on what is going on with several of the regulars. Love this series! It's always good for some laughs and the mystery is always interesting. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I truly enjoy each book this author puts out and this was no exception. Kylie is a woman that is reinventing herself with the help of her new crazy bestie and some men who support her but want more. I get that the romance isn’t in the fore front of the series but I would like to see more. That’s just me though and in no way does it detract from the excellent mystery and dialogue in this book.
I read everything I can find written by A.R. Winters! Kylie Berry is a great character. Who among us hasn't had to start over at some point in their lives? Cooking is hard! Seeing your failures in a plate or in a bowl is one thing but to have people eat it any way? Now those are friends! Each adventure Kylie finds herself in is well crafted and a great read. I encourage everyone to follow Kylie's growth as an independent woman, it's worth the time
Kylie Berry once again gets pulled into a mystery when she finds a guy stuck under her dumpster. This book has a different tone than previous books of the series, with the reader being able to predict the ending way before it gets anywhere close to it. It however remains hard to put down and humorous as the rest of the series has been.
If this is your first read in a Kylie Berry Murder series please leave it for later and begin with A Berry Deadly Welcome.
Excellent plot, believable well thought out characters. Good twist and witty dialogue. All the things that make a wonderful read, despite a few editorial errors. Though I still want to know how she's going to pay back her cousin.
Cannot believe this is book number six in the series, seems like I just began reading the first book. I do recommend reading in order, or at least, reading the first one. A cafe owner who can't cook, two suitors, and a cyber whiz sidekick make for fun reading. Enjoy!
Who needs sex, curse words , sick stuff and other unmentionable stuff when you have great characters like Kylie and Zoey solving terrific .mysteries. Along with Brad, Joel, and a host of other great characters.
I choose to rate with a 5 because you get hooked into the book first page and I found it hard to put down. I love this series and I keep looking for.the next one. A. R. Winters is my new favorite author! Keep em coming...
Another who done it that only Kylie can figure out.
A.R. Reynolds goes in so many directions in her "who done it." that you won't want to stop reading. As Kenner of her own cave, she really can't cook, but boy can she solve a mystery.
Good little cozy and part of a series I’m starting to really like. No 5 star yet. Bothered me that in this one the police were basically nonexistent. Kind of silly to have the amateur running around solving things with no involvement from the aurtorities.
Who would have guessed the "who done it" of the book? Good job keeping the focus away and on the others. Just wish there was more humor in the books. They are titled "a humorous cozy mystery". Needs more laugh out loud moments in the story. By the way, I'm glad Kylie bought some furniture!!!
