I like a good short story and horror ones can be brilliant - bit the collection here was a little hit and miss for me.
'The Pit' by Alexander Glass was a good one. It's not easy creating quite so much tension in a short format, but I really liked it. A scary idea - does it actually exist or is the narrator going crazy?
'The Mist of Lichthafen' by Seth Skorkowsky was one of my favourites. I would have loved to read a longer work set in this world - what is the mist and how do people survive long term? A great story with great characters.
'The Sentinels' by Tony Richards was OK. Well written and some good moments, but ultimately a bot disappointing. Not sure what the ending was all about.
'The Difference Between' by Ian R Faulkner I did enjoy reading. It had good tension and you wanted to find out how the characters survived the No-Mans land haunted by ghastly spectres.
'The Morning After' by Carole Johnstone was gain ok. A nice little story with a nice little twist, but again, slightly disappointing as not hugely original.
'The Fantasy Jumper' by Will McIntosh was well written and followed an intriguing prospect, but to me wasn't really a story - more of a set of scenes.
'The Toad and I' by Matthew Holness was the worse story - didn't make sense and seemed sickeningly graphic for no apparent reason.
Overall a good collection that started off quite strong, but was let down by the last few stories.
