Some words of wisdom that my father imparted to me. I never gave much thought to either. My only desire was to be my father’s well-bred heir. A true Southern gentleman who took what he wanted and paved the road to success with the spoils.
Hiding behind the curtain of gentility, I perfected my role.
Until desire tore it in two and I was left with the tattered remains.

Indiscretion is Patrick's story, and before you get too excited, it'd not his and Cy's story, but how he went from Mr. by-the-book-acceptance-whore to Mr. Living-My-Truth. And God love this man, he had a lot of blue in his blood to dilute, a lot of brainwashing he has to switch off...after all his life was planned out as soon as his gender was revealed. This was Patrick's past, a few choice revelations to wake him and lead him to the path of the man he is today.
There is no order to the Infidelity Universe series. The Infidelity Universe reaches far, while it has no direct ties to Infidelity, it ties in with some key characters in the story. Building onto a world that I have already come to love.
P.S. I do hope one day we do get Cy & Patrick's story <3 Love those two!!!

I really enjoyed this backstory about Patrick from Aleatha Romig's Infidelity series. D.D. Lorenzo knows how to pen a wonderfully sensual M/M sex scene. The writing is smart and polished, and the story is packed with gripping imagination. I highly recommend.
I haven't been reading the synopsis for any of the short stories in this collection, going in blind so to speak, but loving the element of surprise when finding the link to the "Infidelity" series. Well let me tell you, no book has filled me with glee when uncovering the link than this one. "Indiscretion" was Patrick's back story, yes Patrick, Alex's wonderful, thoughtful cousin who I fell completely in love with when I met him way back when. His story took me back to his high school years where I was given an insight into the inner conflict and uphill struggle Patrick faced not only trying to fit in to what people perceived as the "norm" but also trying to live up to the expectations placed upon him by his family, whilst all the while trying to hide the person he really was.
"Indiscretion" was by no means an easy read, in fact more often than not it was heart breaking and soul destroying. Even when Patrick thought he was finally able to be himself, be open about his sexuality and maybe even find love, that came with its own challenges and with every two steps he took forward, it appeared that there were always ten steps back.
My favourite part of the book has got to be the final few pages. Despite the angst and emotional rollercoaster I experienced through most of "Indiscretion," I did turn the final page with a warm, fuzzy feeling in my heart and a huge grin on my face because I knew exactly where this story would end up.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Indiscretion by D.D. Lorenzo, part of the Infidelity World created by Aleatha Romig. It's a story filled with emotion and feeling and I found the writing to be very real and the story one that I didn't even think I'd be curious about until I started the book. This is Patrick's backstory; his family life, growing up in Savannah, and learning to accept himself for who he is and where he truly belongs. My heart broke for him at times, I could feel his pain and anguish. I adored Patrick throughout the Infidelity series and loved his upbeat, fun personality, and I just wanted to see him get to that juncture of his life, and find his HEA as we know it to be. The M/M scenes were beautifully written, hot yet sensual, with just the right amount of sizzle to keep you wanting more. For me, Patrick's story was more emotional than anything else and I loved that about this story. I think whether you've already read the Infidelity series or you are new to the whole experience, this book will touch your heart and make you think. Thank you D.D. Lorenzo for creating Patrick's backstory and telling it in such a beautiful way.
I found my first link between the Infidelity World series in Devoted when i first came across Patrick, and in Indiscretion, i get to really meet and get to know him better. Concentrating on his late teens, we find out how he became the man that i saw briefly in Devoted and then later, in what i know will be in Altea Romig's novels. The story of how this man went against all his family's wishes to marry to be true to his own needs and wants. Beautifully written by D.D. Lorenzo, Indiscretion gave me a good look at the thoughts and obstacles Patrick went through all his life as well as a better insight on what to expect from the rest of the series.
It leads you into the world of self-awakening and into a taboo world where men hold onto their deepest secrets. Patrick is a young man who, in his formidable teenage years, took bullying by his classmates and peers and made himself mentally, emotionally and physically stronger. With that fortitude backing him up, Patrick investigates his new world and is led on a life path to discover what he wants in his future.
I love the simple, yet multiple complexities this author incorporates to make this story a journey of a you man discovering his self-worth in the Old South where appearances are everything and being different is not tolerated or acceptable.
It's no secret I'm not a big fan of m/m but D.D. Lorenzo wrote Indiscretion with tact. We seen a side to what a young man goes through if he's different from anyone else growing up in the south. It's not a pretty side. To be honest it's downright despicable. Seeing all the emotions Patrick went through and even to understand what was going on within him was heartbreaking. Will he be able to rise above it or will he let the words and hurt consume him?
Once again, D.D. Lorenzo is a new author for me. I read the Infidelity Series by Alethea Romig and couldn't wait to read the Infidelity World, this was the first book I chose to read. D.D. gives us a glimpse of Patrick's coming out and his first meeting with Cy. I truly loved this story. Great job! D.D. you got another fangirl.
I haven't read Aleatha Romig's Infidelity but after reading this novella by D.D. Lorenzo that is about to change. I loved this short gripping read, I loved the insight into Patrick because even though I hadn't met him before this story I fell in love with him. This may be a quick read but that doesn't stop the enjoyment you will get, it's full of love and passion and this author sure knows how to write a perfect M/M scene. Looking forward to reading more from D.D. Lorenzo and Aleatha Romig
Patrick Fitzgerald Richardson has finally found who he really is. His time in Greece away from him home and his parents give him the freedom...to discover, to explore, to accept, tolerance and challenge his upbringing without the added weight of judgement. Patrick must face the greatest challenge of his young life when he returns home to be honest with parents and still be the son they’ve always wanted him to be in every way except one.
I have not read any of the series and I found this book to be easy reading and moving. The writing draws you in and holds you to look at his life from his eyes and the emotions he experiences. It’s a good introduction to a M/M genre.
A wonderful and refreshing tale of coming of age and sexual discovery
I'm going to be honest, Indiscretion got me by surprise. The blurb didn't give much away and the first few chapters weren't indicators of the story that was to follow. I had Patrick and Cory married from a few pages in. Boy oh boy am I blind? So, the story itself I found a little on the ordinary side - HOWEVER, D. D. Lorenzo showed such a genteel bravado with her writing. She got the emotion, push and pull and tension down to a tee.
As a character Patrick was so well developed that his stiff personality became more and more pliable as the story went along. I'm not going to lie, the book towards the end felt a little rushed and in all honesty it feels unfinished. Patrick's story feels unresolved - I know that you go on to learn more about him in Aleatha's own Infidelity series, but even for that sexual awakening phase of his life it doesn't feel closed. Personally, I didn't enjoy that aspect as such because it almost rendered the build up of the story pointless. I know that D. D. Lorenzo was telling a coming of age and sexual discovery story of a young man that knows he's gay but is hiding behind the social status quo. I get it. I really do, I just wish that there was something more. In no way is Lorenzo's writing to blame, on the contrary her writing is tasteful and full of gusto. She got the nail right on the head with how far to take the explicitness of the content - which again stopped it from becoming trashy and just another adult book. The message she portrays is blunt, and she does it with honour and class.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read and if I hadn't read Aleatha's series it would certainly make me want to read it ASAP. Indiscretion definitely goes to prove that adult books can convey a powerful and worthwhile message. Would I read it again? Absolutely. I enjoyed every single twist and turn this book took.
Although this is only a novella story you do get the feeling of uncertainty and of fear of being ostracised by friends and more important family just for not being what they expect him to be. Being groomed from birth to follow one course for the rest of his life, no deviations or wants of his own taken into consideration. The whole structure having been decided with no input from yourself on what you want to do or be I must say I would find to controlling and would definitely fight against such rigidness. The inner turmoil of Patrick, of not wanting to hurt but still ultimately needing to be himself shines through this story. It is a battle to find a balance between being himself but still also being the person others expect him to be and also being happy. there is no happy ending in this story, more it leaves us with hope that he will find what he needs at some point down the line. For those readers not keen on M/M romance I don't think you would have a problem reading this, it isn't full on in your face as some books can be, and though there is some sexual content it isn't described in minute detail or even a lengthy description so nothing to worry about in that way. It is much more about the thoughts and feelings, dealing with events and changes to how Patrick wants to move on in his life from how it had been set out for him from birth. I found it interesting and it gave me a better understanding of how hard it must be for gay people to find acceptance for being who they are and just how much prejudice there still is in some circles, often with fathers as well. I hope it has opened my mind up even more than it already was before to be more understanding of others. DD has done a really great job with writing this story and also added a fantastic addition to Aleatha Romig's Infidelity ex-tended Series as well.
Indiscretion by DD Lorenzo is the prefect coming into your own identity novella. If you are familiar with the Infidelity Series by Aleatha Romig, then you will remember Alexandria's cousin Patrick Fitzgerald Richardson. If you are not familiar, no worries because this novella is a complete stand alone and centered around his older teen years and how he starts to forge his own path.
I just love DD Lorenzo's writing style. She is so eloquent in her wording that in the short span of time, I felt that I was amount the elite. Patrick's voice is loud and I was immediately drawn in. It is the perfect mix of inner thoughts and reflections about oneself and sexiness. Well, worth the read. Texas Hugs and Happy Reading... * I was graciously given an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review
A truly well-written and enjoyable read about the lovable Patrick. I really like how these authors are given an opportunity to give us their takes on the backstories of the side characters in the Infidelity Series. This tells the story of Alexandra's cousin, Patrick, and the start of his journey as a gay man in the blue-blooded, genteel South. When I first started at Goodreads, my foray into m/m romance was in its infancy...and I've come to realize I absolutely love these stories. After all...love is love in any way, shape or form. Well done!!
Indiscretion by D.D. Lorenzo is a great glimpse into Patrick's life from Aleatha Romig's Infidelity series (not about cheating). Whether or not you have read Indiscretion first or after you have read the series, you will enjoy D.D,.'s insight into Patrick's life. Although he is a young, privileged man from Savannah, he doesn't travel down an easy path when it comes to his sexuality.
D.D. did a wonderful job writing this book and you "feel" for Patrick as you experience his firsts right along with him.
What a wonderful addition to the Infidelity World!! DD Lorenzo does am amazing job in giving us Patrick's story. I have always loved his character, but I love him even more.
Patrick's back story is heartbreaking and emotional. To see what he went through to find himself, to see his journey, makes me understand him and love him even more.
I loved this story! It's my first book from DD Lorenzo and I really loved the writing.
The story is about Patrick, remember him from Infidelity? Charli's cousin? So, this is his back story, how he discovered his sexuality and everything he lived until coming out to his parents.
Its very sensual and almost real! I loved Patrick and now I love him even more!
I feel like I just inhaled this book. It is Patrick's story and was written fantastically! Patrick was one of my favorite characters from the Infidelity World and this book just confirms that I know Patrick and I would be great friends! Too bad he doesn't really exist!
This was so much fun. Patrick is a great Infidelity character so getting to know him better and learning about how he went from a high school womanizer to a happily married gay man is a worthy read.
This book takes you on a journey of self discovery for Patrick. D.D. Lorenzo does an amazing job at illustrating the difficult decisions Patrick has to overcome in order take ownership of his life. I can't wait to continue readding about his journey! Loved this book! It's a must read.
This was my first book from D D and I love it. I will definitely be reading rest of her work. Indiscretion is part of Infidelity world written by Aleatha Romig. Indiscretion is Patrick Fitzgerald story which we get to see more in Infidelity series, however this book tells us about his life before Infidelity. It is a short story, but it gives us very good inside into Patricks life and his life choices. I love it, got to love and appreciate Pat even more. DD did excellent job writing this story, I really enjoyed her writing. If you have read Infidelity series you must read this, you will love Pat!!!! If you have not read it yet, I strongly suggest you do (because you are missing out), but Indiscretion by DD is standalone so you can read it by itself. Either way you choose, you will love this book! Enjoy!
Indiscretion by D.D. Lorenzo is the backstory of Patrick who we saw quite a bit of in the Infidelity series by Aleatha Romig. Let me just say that I loved Patrick in the series and now I love him even more! This book really showed the struggle that he had as a young man and how he blossomed under the right circumstances. D.D. Lorenzo wrote an amazing M/M scene, I have never really read a full on M/M book but this is one I will highly recommend. Thank you for letting me in to Patrick's life before Infidelity.
Loved it. Patrick's story is about learning to love and finding acceptance for who you love. I loved Patrick in Infidelity by Aleatha Romig - I didn't think I could love him more- I was wrong. D.D. story was about Patrick - a young man entering adulthood and finding he had his own dreams and desire which didn't follow the expectations of his family.
This book is written as part of the Infidelity world, based on the series by Aleatha Romig. Patrick.... we grew to adore Alexandria's cousin in Aleatha's books, he was he rock and her protector at times. This Author decides to focus on Patrick's late teens, when he really decides that the marriage he is supposedly meant to have just isn't going to happen. A trip to Greece after College cements this, as he meets new friends and forms new relationships he decides it's time to go home and tell his Parents the truth. This book is written so beautifully and I felt for Patrick's as he confronted his sexuality, and we all know what an awesome man he eventually becomes.
I really enjoyed this story from Patrick's point of view. I haven't read the other words in the Infidelity world but this story makes me want to go back and read them all. There were times when I want to reach in and give him a big hug and other times when I just wanted to shake him and tell him that it was time to take his life into his own hands. I cried with him and Cory, and felt like I was right there with him while he was coming to terms with who he was. I can't wait to find out what happens with him in the other books.
Another brilliant read focussing on a character from Infidelity World. Loved Patrick in the Infidelity series so was really pleased to read his story from the beginning. This book gave me a different view of Patrick and made me rethink how he came across to me, which was refreshing, I like it when I am surprised by a character. Good solid 4 stars
I love Patrick. He is such a good guy. I loved getting to know his back story. I loved that he stood up to his parents and didn't back down even though he knew it wasn't what his parents wanted. Pat is fighting to be happy and fighting to find himself. And I am so glad he finally got to be happy and be himself <3 Biggest smile on my face when i read that last paragraph. Great book and addition to the Infidelity world <3
I really liked Patrick in the Infidelity series and loved getting a peek in his past. If I were to pick any story I wanted to read about Patrick this was it. This is the time in his life that I was extremely curious about. It was a time of discovering himself, sexual exploration and self acceptance. I loved the way the story was told no back and forth internal battle. He realized he had tried to hide and push away who he was just to please others. He learned he didn't have to. He stood tall and told his loved ones "This is me". The glimpse of a familiar face at the end made me smile.
