When a cop becomes a vigilante what will his partner do?
When Officer Ben Graystock becomes fed up with drug dealer Avery Spade’s ability to avoid arrest, he tries a highly illegal method to bust the criminal. Ben sets fire to Avery’s house along with other locations.
Officer Stuart Thompson, who is also a volunteer firefighter, gets assigned to investigate these arsons. Thompson happens to be Graystock’s close friend and partner at the police department. Their friendship allows the vigilante to keep one step ahead of the case. Soon fire investigation turns to a murder investigation.

My full time "day job" is in law enforcement. I first started as a police officer back in 1999. Like most cops, I started on patrol and have worked up the ranks in a variety of positions.
For most of my career, I have been one of our department's evidence technicians. Some places call the job crime scene investigator or CSI.
In addition to police work, I spent some time as a firefighter. As someone with both a fire and police background I find myself being the local de facto fire/arson investigator.
Most folks would say CrossFit and books are my two primary hobbies. My enthusiasm for fitness has led me to get various coaching and personal training certifications. I don't have a regular coaching schedule but do train some people once in a blue moon.
This was one of the most disappointing books I've ever read. Poor character development, grammatical and spelling errors and inconsistencies. The author gets bogged down in technical garbage. I had to skip a lot of the descriptions because they were repetitive and useless. The book plot was a good idea, but the book wasn't worth the time it took to read. I only finished so I could leave an honest review.
This is a good story that is fairly well written. It would be better if the author omitted the copious detail on fire force and police force operations. These obstruct the story line and cause the book to read like an operations manual at times.
It was a bit anticlimactic but overall a very good story. There was enough suspense through the crimes and investigation process to make it a very worthwhile read.
