Bridget Barton was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.
She has studied English Literature in college and after a brief passage in journalism as a newspaper writer, she stirred her career to what she always loved: becoming an author!
She has always been intrigued by rascals, vagabonds, dukes and rogues, so having the chance to write stories about them is a wish come true for her!
Bridget is married to her own prince charming and is the proud mother of two daughters (and three adorable kittens) and soon to be a grandma!
She is a hopeless romantic who devours romance literature and of course enjoys writing love stories of her own.
When she is not writing, Bridget is relaxing by cooking for her lovely husband, exercising and listening to soft music.
I enjoyed reading these stories, but the first two were much better than the third. I had a difficult time getting into it. The first two books are what you most likely expect from a Regency romance, are well written and contain characters you can feel for. The third book did not flow as smoothly and was wordy in places. Overall this is more than worth the $.99. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Tales of Unexpected Love 3 book Collection by Bridget Barton This boxed set presents some very different heroes and heroines, but the common theme is that they all find love, despite trials and tribulations along the way. My free opinion. Thanks.
Georgette💃, a young lady of fine manners and breeding is left penniless when her father dies in debt. She applies for a governess job to teach The two young orphan Welsh nieces of Hamilton🐺, the Duke of Draycott.
The Duke is a sad and bitter man. He thinks his sister died hating him. His sister married a Welshman, a marriage he was against, and they lived in Wales, many days journey away. He never saw her again, and a sickness took both her and her husband.
Hamilton🐺 loves The two little girls, but he attempts to stifle their Welsh roots and stop them from speaking Welsh. His personal guilt is getting in the way of their welfare. Georgette💃 wants the girls to remember their roots, so she encourages the girls to continue to speak Welsh, and she learns it too!, to the consternation of the Duke.
Finally he has had enough and fires Georgette💃, but she doesn't go far, because she loves the two girls and finds herself wanting to figure out a way to help the Duke live with himself.
I liked the book, but I felt the bond between Georgette💃 and Hamilton🐺 was weak. The book can be chaste, but it's also has to have strong emotional ties between the characters to have a real romance. ****************************
A BRIDE👰FOR THE BETRAYED EARL🐺
💘Love and Betrayal💔 Among the Nobility👑
Hunter Bentley🐺 becomes the new Earl of Addison when his father, Harrington, dying from a wasting disease, requests to go back to Scotland and Rosecleer Manor, his childhood home, on one last journey. About six months after arriving, Hunter's father dies. Meanwhile, Hunter's hopefully beloved, Felicity💃, the only daughter of an Earl, has probably found another, because her letters to him while he's away, drop off to nothing.
With great sadness, Hunter🐺 makes the long trip back to Addison Hall, where he is now the Earl, no longer the son of an Earl. He has barely walked in the door, when his cousin tells him Felicity💃 has dumped him and has married a Duke. That SUCKS!
Emmeline💃💋 has lost her father in the meantime, too, and her three months of mourning are up. She can once again go out and enjoy society. But in six months, her home will become the property of an uncaring male cousin, since her father left no male heirs.
She hopes to be married👰 by then to Christopher Lennox, a wealthy young man, even though He has not asked her! Invited to a party at the Lennox estate, she is horrified when Christopher's father announces his son's betrothal to Emmeline's best friend, Clara. Talk about embarrassing and humiliating and cruel! EGAD!
Hunter🐺 is at The party too, a tall, dark, brooding figure. He decides then and there, that he will ask Emmeline💃💋 to marry him in a marriage👰 of convenience. At thirty-two He needs a wife👰 and heir, and she needs to save her mother and sister from poverty. Will this even work?
Loved the premise of this book📑! It is so interesting in the beginning, that I kept on reading until The end! *†*****************************
A LADY FOR THE BRAZEN EARL The Injustice😟 Of It All
Lady Adeline and young Lady Imogen💃💋, two well born ladies, scheme to rescue children from workhouses by getting donations from attendees to the Ton Season galas and dances. Its a good plan! They will attend every one of the gatherings they can and hit up all the wealthy nobles!
The first ball, Imogen💃💋 meets Lord Heath Montgomery🐺🍆🌋, The Earl of Reddington. He's tall and handsome and The most eligible bachelor at the party, but he's being followed by the beautiful blond daughter of a very wealthy Baron chasing him. His mother, Veronica, is trying to push the girl Jemima, on him.
Heath🐺🍆🌋 likes talking to Imogen💃💋 because they get into big discussions and arguments. He sees her again at a huge fireworks display, and sits and talks to her, until his money grubbing mother shows up. However, Heath's younger sister, Prudence, is friendly to Imogen💃💋.
Heath🐺🍆🌋 soon becomes interested in what Imogen💃💋 and Adeline are doing with trying to raise money and raise awareness to help the poor and give alternatives to the work houses. They want to do something constructive with their privileged lives.
This book📑 is short on romance. It's more of a study about two women's attempts to change society's awareness and perception about poverty and the poor.
This is a long book📑 and it could have been somewhat shorter! But I guess it depends on the reader's 📚style, as to if they like long epics or shorter reads.
I enjoy Barton's work. I enjoy the inner journey that her characters take to discover themselves. I get caught up in their emotional stories, wondering how I would react and where my life would go "if only". Here are definitely Takes of Unexpected Love. The characters embody different characteristics and different struggles. I like that about this collection. Barton explores the values underneath a person's appearance and outer circumstances, the values that motivate unique behaviors for each one of them. These three heroines are contrasted by their outer circumstances and yet similar in their desire to live according to their own inner compasses. Each of them engage their inner journey.
That said, the three selections in this collection seemed to take a little too long to resolve, hence the 4 star rating.
A great collection of wonderfully constructed Regency Romances, fans will thrill over the stories of governess Georgette and her struggle to open the heart of the Duke to love and forgiveness, of a marriage of convenience for the betrayed Earl and the lovely Emmaline, and of the socially aware Lady Imogen and her very brazen Earl. Passion grows underneath the staid conventions of the Ton and in the end will not be denied. Great reading.
This is a wonderful introduction to Ms. Barton's works! This collection is comprised of 3 full-length Regency romances. Each story stands alone as a sweet story of finding love. One thing I found interesting across all of the stories was the age of the heroines. In other Regency stories, they would have been considered "firmly on the shelf." But, in these stories the author focuses on the strong character and confidence. Well done.
"Tales of Unexpected Love" by Bridget Barton Three stories that will keep you turning the pages. I do love well written sweet and clean Regency romances, and all three of these stories kept me happily ensconced in my reading chair for hours at a time. I was gifted an ARC of this box set by the author and am very thankful for this opportunity to review this offering. Each story is a stand alone, but I dare say you will not want to stop with just one. Happy Reading !
Three sweet and clean Regency love stories all different in entertaining plots. Much dialogue, sometimes stilted and stuffy with the constant sparring and bantering, but certainly with a thorough development of each character. Have to admit, it's my least favorite formatting ( block with two spaces in between) since it slows down a speed reader. Otherwise, a lot of bang for the buck for those who enjoy this genre.
I thought this was good romance fiction, and some of it seemed Christian, especially the first book. But there was little out right evidence of Jesus in any of the books. I did enjoy the book, but felt it would be a lot better if the characters were obviously Christians. I won't be keeping it for that reason. For those who aren't concerned about the Christian content, you'll most likely greatly enjoy this book.
I enjoy reading this author I have like every book that I have bought and received. I think this is her best yet. Hart breaking when both Hunter and emmetine are both dump by the ones they thought love them.what was to be a marriage of convenient turned in love as I love action book also there is some action in this story not much
Bridget Barton's Regency romances grab me in the first chapter and I get little done until I finish each story. The characters are realistic and well portrayed. Some of her villains really rouse my wrath. The plots are always entertaining. I highly recommend these stories to anyone who enjoys a good Regency romance
Three tales of love and couples who beat the odds to be together. Although Society has it standards and expectations, these couples follow their hearts to hoy , love, and happy endings. You will find joy, love, challenges, struggles, danger, and beaten odds with these stories.
All three of these books in this collection are romances in the oldest, truest sense. The characters are warm and intricate. The are true to life. They touch your heart with the warmth of true love and the joy and hope that spring from it. I lost myself in these pages and took a lovely stroll through the Regency Era and all the romance that goes with it.
These romance stories were short and cute. At times I did feel the dialogues dragged on. For the most part they had a bit of everything, adventure, romance and drama. Would recommend.
I loved or liked each of these stories. Each one is a tale of a woman who finds love unexpectedly. She was not looking, but it found her anyway. "A Lady for the Brazen Earl" is my favorite. You can find my individual review for each book under the name of the story.
A fantastic bookset of three sweet, surprising love tales. You will love the characters, strong, broody and how they will find the happy end. I recommend this collections to all that love regency and would like to spend some relaxing time during the holiday.
A very good set of books that I enjoyed reading a set I will read again. The books are A Governess for the Brooding Duke, A Bride for the Betrayed Earl, A Lady for the Brazen Earl, each book is a standalone
Amazing boxset!!! Absolutely loved this!!!! Heart felt and sweet. Dreams do come for some!!!! Wanna clobber some though too for spite lol. Wonderful books and very well written.
Well written stories where the author has done her research about the time period. I like the first two of the box best because the connection with the characters was better. Nice twists and likeable characters.
I found all three stories very mundane. They all lacked any sense of adventure, intrigue - anything - but very ho-hum day by day happenings. Thank heavens all romances are not so boring. Definitely not my cup of tea and I most definitely will not be reading anything further by Bridget Barton
I only read the first book, the writing was dull and the story did not flow well. The characters, especially the Duke, were extremely stiff and awkward- albeit it was intentional but it made his emotional growth seem almost unbelievable and it took too long to get there.
I really enjoyed the first two of the books, but the last one took a while to read as it was not near as good as the first and second. But there were reading and later may return and read a second time!
All the potential in the world, the developing storyline was interesting and had the makes of a wonderful novel; however, I never could become engaged with my attention fully invested. I will definitely have to give this story another try later on.
Well written with believable characters and romance. I liked the characters and the storyline was interesting. The poor have been oppressed always but to think that they are lazy I find appalling.
Each book has a personal tale to tell and that tale is told well. They are all light hearted enough to be relaxing reading while still having some depth.
