Cheryl Bradshaw's library of three stand-alone, bestselling mystery novels.
The Devil Died at Midnight
The devil is in the detail.
When true-crime writer Alexandria Weston is found murdered on the last stop of her book tour for The Devil Wakes, a story about the life and death of serial killer Elias Pratt, fellow writer Joss Jax steps in to investigate.
Joss's search reveals disturbing details from Alexandria's past, and a long list of enemies, each with a secret to hide. Just when Joss believes she's solved the mystery, an unexpected twist rises to the surface, a twist so deadly it unearths Elias Pratt from the grave and changes the lives of those who knew him forever.
Hickory Dickory Dead
Feisty. Ballsy. Bold. ... And not your average seventy-year-old woman.
After a late-night tryst with a much younger man, Maisie Fezziwig wakes to a harrowing scream outside. Curious, she removes a pistol from her dresser drawer and walks outside to investigate. The sleepy street is still and calm at first, until Maisie stumbles on a grisly murder that will change her life forever.
Eye for Revenge
Quinn Montgomery has lost the will to live.
She wakes to find herself in the hospital. Her childhood best friend Evie is dead. But not just dead, murdered, and Evie's four-year-old son witnessed it all. Traumatized over what he saw, he hasn't spoken. And when Evie's cold-blooded killer goes into hiding, Quinn isn't only out for justice, she's out for revenge.

If you want to read three full length murder mystery thrillers that grab you from the first pages, this is the book to read! In the first mystery, The Devil is in the Details, Alexandria Weston is at her last book signing since she feels the need to retire. The book is an update of the book she wrote years ago about the executed serial killer Elias Pratt. Jos Jax who has a crime tv show and is also an author attended the book signing and met Alexandria for the first time. Alexandria goes to the ladies room just before leaving the book store to go home where she is found dead...murdered as it turns out. Jos Jax feels the need to stay on in the city and figure out what happened to Alexandria. As she investigates, she finds secrets upon secrets and an author who wasn't exactly what every one thought. But why would anyone want to kill Alexandria and what about her daughter and husband? So many suspects and secrets for Jos to unwind. The story keeps moving and it has you guessing and second guessing every turn! The second mystery in the book, Hickory Dickory Dead, is not only ripe with twists and turns and craziness, but we have a feisty retired a 70 year old forensic pathologist, Maisie Fezziwig, who awakens to a loud scream and what seemed to her as someone yelling help me. Grabbing her gun from her dresser, she heads out into the neighborhood to see what she heard. Finding nothing in the wee hours of the night, she decides to drag her sister along with a cake for the new next door neighbors to see if they heard anything. Hearing the painful cries of an infant in the house, she decides to break in. What she finds sets of a series of events including Maisie diving head long into an investigation of the murder of her neighbor's husband, the baby left alone in the house and the wife missing. So many red-herrings, so many twists and turns and you are held to page turning until the end. The third mystery is called Eye for Revenge. Quinn Montgomery returns home to the murder of her best friend Evie apparently in front of Evie's 4 year old son. Evie's grandmother, who is taking care of the child and has shared custody with Quinn wants to enlist Quinn to find the murderer of her granddaughter. When they hone in on Evie's ex-husband he too gets murdered. A page turner with lots of variables including the love/hate relationship between Evie and he sister, and the appearance of her ex-boyfriend who is the detective investigating the murder. With romantic complications, family drama, lies and uncovered truths, this story keeps you hanging on trying to unravel the clues. This book is a must read for fans of murder mystery thrillers! I received an ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own!
Excellent 3-book set from one of my favorite authors. Add in the great price and you can't go wrong! So, buy the set, you'll find three distinct protagonists, each equally engaging and entirely different! My review of each novel follows. Eye For Revenge: Greatly enjoyed this standalone novel. Good character development and plot progression. As always, I highly recommend. The Devil Died At Midnight: Another excellent novel! I thought I had figured out the whodunit but I was so wrong, which is part of what I loved about the book. I sincerely hope Joss Jax will become the protagonist in a new series. I will be one of her new series fans. I won't write spoilers or describe the whole plot because you must read this book! Highly recommend! Hickory Dickory Dead: I won't give plot lines or spoilers, simply give my impressions of Ms. Bradshaw's newest character. Maisie Fezziwig is a 70 year old feisty, recently retired medical examiner who will win your heart, challenge your preconceived notions about a women her age and, most assuredly, leave you anxiously awaiting the next book in this new series. Maisie describes herself as a "tough, steely ball of female badass" and I found that to be a perfect description of this new character. I found myself cheering her on, laughing at her contagious dry wit and at times in awe of her sharp detective skills. As always, in any genre she writes, Cheryl Bradshaw hit this one out of the park! So thankful the title includes "Book 1" because I am definitely anxiously awaiting Book 2!
This book was 3 stories in one. I couldn't guess the killer but the book didn't grip me. All the books seemed a bit like a murder drama that would be on the TV. The main character ended up solving the crime for the detectives. The good thing about this books was I got straight into them from page 1. It did keep me entertained and I did want to finish the book but wouldn't read them again. The author did give the main characters voices and I really got their 'personalities'. The book didn't give me much feeling. I don't think the story lived up to the blurb. I was excited by the blurb so was a bit disappointed. I probably wouldn't read another book by this author. I would normally decide if to read by reading the blurb but this one did let me down. The 1st story (The devil died at midnight) was an 'ok' story for me. The 2nd story (Hickory dickory dead) was better and I did enjoy it more. It did have more of a story line that I got into. The 3rd story (Eye for revenge) was better than the first one but not as good as the 2nd one.
This is a collection of three separate stories about murder: The Devil Died at Midnight,Hickory Dickory Dead and Eye for Revenge . The first, The Devil Died at Midnight is about an author who writes about serial killer and how lies can ruin lives. The second, Hickory Dickory Dead is about a murder in the neighborhood and how a seventy year old woman refuses to let age and the assumption that elderly woman should be home knitting stop her from getting out there to try and solve the murder. The last, Eye for Revenge is about friendships. How a friendship with one person can be the strongest and most important thing in your life, and how you might have ended a friendship with another due to a misunderstanding. And lastly, how someone you think is a friend turns out to be the total opposite.
A View to a Kill is actually three different mystery stories that Cheryl Bradshaw has written. If you have not read any of her books....shame on you! These stories are full of mystery and emotions! I love her stories as they actually have a plot to them and it is always a fabulous story. From an author who is killed on a book signing tour, to a fiesty old grandmother set out to find the killer these stories a worth the price of admission! Get your own copy and see what I mean.
Not what I was expecting from a murder mystery (I stopped after the first one). I know some people like this style, but it's not for me. Too much "old flame" and "so we meet again" romancing for me. The murders take second place to the romance side, and that's not for me.
These three combined books were interesting, but not great. None of the three made you anxious to keep reading. The only truely interesting character was Maize.
An average read, there is a lot of unnecessary puffery that doesn’t relate to solving the murder. The murder storylines are interesting that keep you wanting to read more. Be prepared to skip chunks of the book.
I’m not sure if it is because I only read at night before bed, (so I was tired) but I just didn’t care very much about any of the three stories. It felt like a chore to get through this book.
