Showed a Young King How To Love

Rate this book
How do you show someone something when it’s supposed to be a given?
Being surrounded by love, one doesn’t know what it’s like not to receive it. That’s how Kaja’s life was growing up. Once she hit adulthood, she still received love, but it was under false pretenses. Breaking loose from the fake and pretentious, opens her life, mind, and heart, to receiving real love. But what she encounters is completely different from what she’s used to. She begins to question her strength, her will, and endurance. She begins to wonder if showing a troubled man how to love will cost her losing herself in the process.
Never been shown how to love, care, or feel, has made Cofa Payne a hard, selfish, man. No one’s thoughts or feelings matters to him. Only his money makes him happy. Interacting with a woman who makes him feel something in attempts to change him. There’s a nagging voice that keeps reminding him that he’s worthless and doesn’t deserve love. Will listening to that voice keep him in a world of lovelessness, or will he strive for the light, and learn how to love the right woman?
Onzi is a man of few words and even fewer feelings. He never thought of a woman owning his heart. But his mother always told him ‘never say never.’ He meets a woman who supersedes everything he has ever thought about women. She could be his future, but a distraction from the past may ruin it. Will he let it, or will he fight for what he didn’t think he wanted?
Tya’s known daddy’s love, but that’s the only love. She suffers from a condition that’s out of her control, and because of it, she never received love from her mother. Either way, she didn’t let it stop her from being great. The only thing she’s missing is love from a man who’s willing to give it. One little flaw may disrupt the love she could receive. Will she let it?
Is it hard showing a young king how to love? Read, and find out in this tantalizing standalone.

To know me is to love me. My identity begins with my name but makes a statement with my pen. I'm a mother of two and a wife of one. My love for writing began at the age of two. That's right I first wrote my name at the age of two and I've been writing ever since. Growing up I always felt invisible. I suffered from that 'Middle Child Syndrome', so when my voice wasn't heard, I made my own story.
My journal and my pen became my companion. I would write stories where my characters looked like me (thick, tall, and pretty), they loved to read, was educated, and realistic. The older I got the more my imagination grew, which caused my stories to be more diverse.
Becoming an author came about in an unintentional way. I've been through many things in my adult life. My husband, who's my backbone, has always admired my strength. We suffered a devastating loss, our daughter. My husband urged me to tell my story, to be a light for someone else. I took him up on his advice and wrote my pains and truths.
I love weaving stories, touching readers with relatable characters and situations. I give life lessons, unconditional love, dedication, a little crazy, and a whole lot of truth. I have a saying that I live by; 'I don't just write books;I tell stories'.

I was soo ready to read this, but was so disappointed!!!

I was so ready to read this story, I got it and started it reading it instantly but took forever and a lot of push to finished it...I was so mad and disappointed....that was not what I thought it would have been. I'm thinking I was going to read a great story about how two different man grew up and viewed HEA and soulmate so differently because of life circumstances, but boy, was I disappointed.
This story did started it out good, so good I thought I was going to have to slow down and to savor it, but man, chile I am so mad. This was supposed to be how Cofa grew up and became so unaffected with hoe love was supposed to be while Onzi was supposed to be this easy going, no string attached free living spirit and don't believe in commitment and was I disappointed.
Cofa was all that... A trouble soul, a need to save soul and all that jazz, but unless MS. Sumter didn't know how to search for words or how to make this character be the bomb, she was only able to literally give him just about a few chapters🤔😤 and he was supposed to be the main male character, (hum)?
Onzi got the most talk time in this book. He went out, met his soulmate, lock it down and was the upholding lovable citizen that he could be...he became the main character with all of the dram that came with him, yet he was the one with the less issue.
Then Merrick shows up, he gets mentioned more than Cofa and he is definitely the least problematic man.
The girls were the same; Katja supposedly the main character was passed along to Tya who had more drama for a secondary character yet not as much as Koy who somewhat was non existent when she was not even mentioned in the synopsis, I think.... I mean nothing life shattering, heart pounding, happened to Katja and so she as well as Cofa truly didn't have their place in this book. This should have been titled "Onzi and Tya, love story; featuring Cofa, Katja, Koy and Merrick." Not even on the business side was it ever mentioned how or what kind of smarts he had and how dangerous he truly is or how alpha and gangster he is, but Onzi came in guns waving and slapping people around, even Merrick came out as such...
Like I said, this had the biggest potential and if felt to me as if MS. Sumter zoned out, blacked out or simple got lost and did t know what to look for to get out. It really would have been beautifully epic to witness the change in Cofa from the beginning to the end and not this back and forth and see the best changes a man would do to keep his love; but suchlike is not the case and everything was truly concentrated to the others than these two.

Really Really Good!

When I first chose this story and started reading,I thought what I was going to get was just plan drama and then some.Well let me tell you the writer gives you something more. This was a story about relationships and growing and trusting the person you give your heart. You get just a good solid story with a developed storyline and characters that are people you know or want to know. This was refreshing and an entertaining way to spend an afternoon. There were a few typos but nothing that takes away from the story. The writer gives you a full circle and you are going to love it.I don't want to give away any spoilers because it would just ruin the experience. So take a trip Cofa and Kana and the other couples.

In my feelings

From the very beginning,it started banging. Kaja, Koy and Tya were up for having a good time until a jealous and disrepectful Jeremy couldn't move on from the relationship, he says he didn't want with Koy. Unbeknownst to the girls, there were 2 gentlemen chilling in VIP who held their attention. Cofa and his brother Onzi was taken snack by the first glimpse of the ladies.
When all hell breaks out in the club, some new relays occur. Some ex's can't let go and lies are revealed.
The emotions this book took me through had me going from the beginning to the end.

Beautiful!

What a story. I love the flow of this story from beginning to end. The characters were off the chain, especially that damn Onzi. He is funny as hell. It was very intriguing to read about a man who've been through so much in his childhood and still manages to come on top, with the support of a childhood friend and his parents; later in life a female companion and other friends. I'm glad he's much better and on the path of healing. The struggle is real. Great read as always. ReneeG 👍

*****

This is one of my favorite books so far!!! I loved the bond of the ladies. Those haters though had me 88 hot what they did too Koy!!! I especially loved how Kaja loved Cofa in spit of all his mess and insecurities. I love how Onzi was open and ready for the love Tya had to give. All these women were patiently waiting for the love they got and once they got it, it was everything. Tya's mom and sister had me 88 hot too. Kaja and Koy's dad did not play about his girls. Onzi mom and dad just had a heart of gold. Thanks

A must read!!

Reading this book had me in my feelings from the beginning to the end. I loved the bond between Onzi and Cofa . Real men love each other and are there for each other through good and bad times. I'm so glad Cofa finally found a real woman to love. Kaja is a real warrior. She sees what she wants and is unafraid to let it be known. All these characters made this book one to remember. Thanks Kendra Sumter you are a beast with your pen.

Not for me

Normally, I like these books, but the main hero was so verbally abusive that I couldn't enjoy it. The book almost needs a trigger warning with how bad he was. It's not ok and I didn't get past 50 percent of it because there's no coming back from what he said to her. He was toxic to every woman he saw too and it just didn't work for me. Plus, tr***y is a transphobic slur and we shouldn't be using it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a good standalone. The only thing that worked my nerves was the over use of the word a** I mean I felt like I read it in every sentence 🤦🏾‍♀️ I loved all the couples, they were all perfect for each other. I was glad that Cofa got his 💩together because he was making me mad. Tya and Onzi were definitely my favorites. Thank goodness all the annoying haters got what they deserved.

Beautiful💕💕

Wow what can I say... This was a beautiful story about love , faith, self love, and doubt. How could a father treat his son like that is CRAZY😲😲, but through all of the Cofa endured and over came his doubt about love and self. It takes a real world to understand a real man that just don't know how to Love. Sister hood 💪💪 was deep in this story and the men was CRAZY but my kind of men. MUST READ👏👏👏💯

Great Story!

It's something about those reckless talking thugs that drive a woman insane and Cofa was the man. It was so sad how he was treated by the hands of his love ones. I'm so happy Kaja taught him how to love. Onzi is my new book bae... I love him and Tya together. Merrik and Koy they were a cute couple. I'm happy Jermey and his crew got what they deserved. I enjoyed this book!

A little patience goes a long way!!!!!!

Cofa was funny he really thought that he had a choice, but Kaja she played no games with him from the jump. Tya she demanded that Onzi treated her with respect from day one. Koy I would of did some damage to Jeremy but what she suggested was far worse, she found a winner in Merrick.....

Such a great read!

I enjoyed every page of this book! Loved the bond between all the couples. I hated Jeremy with his nasty bitter self he definitely got what he deserved. What I lived most was when the men chose they went all in... Whatever happened before was left in the past. This is a just read that u will not put down until u finish!

LOVED IT! What a heart warming story. LOVED the relationships with all of the characters. My heart went out to Cofa. No one deserves that kind of treatment.
