I had the candle . . . and victory over the Lich within reach . . . then everything went to hell.
Vexa Tzarnavaras, funeral home assistant and amateur necromancer, is trapped within her own mind, isolated from everyone who cares about her, unable to help as Aethon, her 600-year-old power crazed ancestor, goes on a destructive rampage.
Her lovers Ethan, the cursed werewolf, and Gwydion the exiled Unseelie Fae, worry for her; but only Cole, the once rival necromancer turned ally & lover, can reach her. But the intimacy of sharing minds, and the secrets he hides, makes him reluctant to give Vexa the support she needs.
As she struggles to battle her own demons and return to who she was before, Vexa’s journey takes her down strange paths into a place far beyond the imaginable.
Secrets are uncovered. Truths are revealed. And the battle for the Candle rages on.
D.D. Miers is an ardent book lover, coffee enthusiast, and die-hard romance fan. When she’s not writing, she can be found snuggling on the couch with a good book in hand. She currently resides in beautiful Southern California with her wonderful husband, a crazy toddler, and the many different characters in her head.
So far out of all the books in this series, this one may be my least favorite. While I think the condition that Vexa found herself in for a majority of the book allowed for a lot of character growth especially with her and Cole, it just kind of dragged at times. The lack of interaction with her and any of the other characters like Ethan and Gywn made me kind of lose the connection I had to them as a reader. The concept of the blue door and the linking of minds between Vexa and Aetheon was interesting but I just didn’t feel quite as excited or enthusiastic about it.
I think the redeeming quality in this book for me was the revelations made by Vexa and Cole. It was a long and hard road for them but I think they may have finally accepted who and what they are and their past mistakes. The memories Vexa had witnessed made it a little harder for me as the reader to view Aetheon as a villain and antagonist. I almost feel sorry for him and sympathize with his life that he has had to endure over the centuries.
I am definitely curious to see what happens in the final book of Vexa’s story.
I didn’t like it. It’s dragging a story on for the sake of having 5 books or something. I don’t like the MC anymore either since book 3, this just did not make sense to me in at all. What was the purpose of this book? They could’ve done and dusted the story in 3 books. Ugh! I only read the 3rd in the hopes of seeing where this story is going but it’s dragging this on for who knows why. The whole concept around bisexuality feels so forced and untrue. I mean write this properly from book 1 if that’s your spin on this RH. What age are we in? Being bi is not a “big no-no” in the days of old. What were they trying to achieve? If this book was written 10years ago, maybe yes then it would make a bit more sense in coming to terms about sexuality. I expected better tbh. I won’t be reading the last book - total waste of time 🙄
Omg this book was absolutely fantastic, like all the books before this one I was sucked in and couldn’t get out until the end. Each book that I read of this series just keeps getting better and better. But man just when you think you’re going to get the answers to all your questions it all comes to a screeching halt with a cliffhanger. Graceley Knox and D.D. Miers definitely know how to leave their readers sitting on the edge of knowing and not knowing. Their blended writing style is amazing and always leaves you wanting and needing more. So yes I do recommend this book because I loved it. But if you haven’t read the first three books then I highly suggest that you do so that you don’t have any confusion with who’s who and what’s what.
3/3.5 for me. This one kind of dragged for me. Not much happened and it just didn’t hold my interest like the others. I really enjoyed the first two books and I don’t know maybe it’s because I keep expecting something big and exciting to happen and when it doesn’t I feel a bit let down I don’t know but this one just wasn’t as attention grabbing as the others. Don’t get me wrong I did like learning a bit more about Cole and some insight into their feelings I just want some more action. The story does leave in a bit of a cliffhanger and I look forward to seeing how things progress.
Grave Magic is a fast-past ride with plenty of imaginative twists and loads of fascinating supernatural elements. My attention was captured from the start until the very end. Relished the diversity of the characters, the intricacy of the relationships, dynamics, drama, and romance. The challenges they face and how they overcome them has me totally invested in the series. I'm definitely hooked!
Outstanding narration by Krys Janae. She does a fantastic job with the characters, and her voice is perfect for this story. Overall, Grave Magic was a fantastic listen one I'll be recommending.
An interesting way to move the story forward. While Vexa is in a coma and stuck in a void like state the plot is furthered by memory sharing with Cole mostly, who is able to enter Vexas mind. Not as much action as previous books in the series Magic seem to be the transition from background story to the true fight to come. Look forward to the next book and happy that this series is available on Kindle Unlimited.
Omg this book was absolutely fantastic. Ive really enjoyed reading all of this serise. once i started i couldnt put it down untill i finished it. Vexa is trapped in her own mind and everyone is desperately trying to get her to come back. Vexa goes through her own trials and learns what Aethon’s plans are. I’m so excited for Cole & Vexa and the ending OMG cant wait to see how the next book going to turn out. Another great book by d.d and Elizabeth 😊😊
The whole was pretty much only visions and some character development but it was not too bad and I am just curious what´s going to happen next.
Ethan... sigh... he was the most stable and loyal guy so of course he has to get a little spice and problems to make him less simply-cute and more... interesting. Compared to the other two he was kind of really easy to bond with and sleep with.
Just wow, an exciting, rollercoaster of a read, that had me hanging on every word, unable to put it down. The surprises just keep coming, and the tension increasing as the series progresses, keeping the reader on their toes. Vexa and her merry band of men have me hopeleslly hooked, and desperate to know whats next for them all. Krys's wonderful narration made this a treat to listen to, I can't wait for next book. I received this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
Loving this series. Vexa is trapped in her own mind and everyone is desperately trying to get her to come back. Vexa goes through her own trials and learns what Aethon’s plans are. I’m so excited for Cole & Vexa and the ending WOW. I can’t wait to read what will happen next.
I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book
Grave Magic is different from the preceding three books in this series. Vexa is stuck in a void and sharing memories with Cole. We get more background information and insight into Vexa and Cole's feelings. There is very little action compared with what came before. With a cliffhanger ending, I am anxious to see what's coming.
Vexa has to face some emotional trials in this one, but will she survive and will her guys lose it if she doesn't. She learns more about Cole while learning more about herself and Aethon too. Each has their own demons to work through and some of them are literal. Will Ethan be able to hold of the curse, will he be able to cure himself? I can't wait to see what happens in book 5!
I’ve been enjoying this series, and I enjoyed this book as well, but not as much as the others. This one seemed to drag for most of it, and even though I understood what the authors were trying to do with Vera being lost and alone, I missed the other characters. I’m excited to keep reading the series, however, and find out what happens next.
Vexa strength, understanding of herself, and magic grows so much in this book. While be trapped inside her own mind she has nothing but time to contemplate everything. I loved learning so much about Cole's past and also it broke my heart a little. This one is less action packed then the others but is filled with lots of history.
I started out liking this series but this book I was bored. The only reason I kept reading was to get the conclusion and I didn't so I hope the next book is a helluva lot better
The storyline was interesting nothing was furthered in the plot until the very end. This was a filling in the holes with Cole and Vexa at the center of it. It ended in a cliffhanger and I will just say WOW. I can't wait to find out where it's going to go.
Sorry but out of the four books this has been the most boring one. This whole mind thing was just not worth a hole book. I am assuming because the ending it will mean more once I read book five. I do want to see how this series ends.
Love how the characters learn and grow with each book. Loved the interactions between all the characters. Great storyline and character development. Can’t wait for last part
Again an interesting read, but basically nothing happens. It's a filler book that explains stuff. The writing style is great. I really like how easy this book is to read. But plot wise it's lacking. So just 3 Stars this time.
Wow, I thought I had this storyline sussed but no there’s more to come and not what I was expecting. Well written and a absolutely fantastic performance from Krys.
