These three novellas are absolutely precious! I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed each one, individually and as a collection! A must read for anyone who loves to be whisked away to a serene community by the lake!
In Calm & Bright we get a heart wrenching Christmas story centered around a little boy who just wants to spend time with his dad for the holiday! Brad and Maddie both have so many issues they need to address within themselves, with God and each other before they can come back to the place they were when the first made a commitment to one another in marriage and be the best parents they can be for their son! The way Autumn writes their story is touching and shows us that when we put God first, the rest will always fall into place! The warmth of the “supporting cast” and the setting makes me wish I could move straight to Idaho!
Imperfectly Proverbs 31 has a heroine so sweet and unsure of herself, Autumn has you routing for her success immediately! Of course, I may be just a little prejudiced, I mean Samantha is a blogger, after all, hehehe! But Daniel is out to prove he is the truth finder super hero. It’s his mission in life to call out anyone who is less than one hundred percent honest. Daniel has his reasons for his philosophy, and they are valid….but when he meets Sam and is forced to spend time with her, God has a way of working opening his eyes to HIS truth as well. One of my favorite things about this story is it shows how no one is perfect…but God loves us through our flaws and HE is always going to bring us to where we need to be when we put our trust in HIM.
By the time I finished those two, I could not wait to get to Midnight Clear! This last novella in the set was my favorite…it had a lot of Maddie and Brad’s continued love story, and brings back both Ryan and Claire who have been in the previous two stories as well. The main reason it was my favorite though was because of Claire! I adored Claire and her fierce independent stubborn streak. Maybe because I was so much like her for a very long time….! Ryan is an amazing hero too…so patient and kind, and so in tune with God and the community he has lived in all his life. The best part of this story was being able to see how we so often try to blame God for the bad things that happen to us, or if not blame Him, then figure He doesn’t care, or doesn’t see our heart ache and needs. That is just so not true, but it’s difficult to see that in the midst of heart breaking circumstances…..
Warning: I cried………but it was such a beautiful eye opener to me to TRUST GOD always….!
