Tina Abena Oforiwa is a London-based poet of Ghanaian descent. Twenty-Four is a moving compilation of poems exploring culture, family, and identity. Oforiwa brings to focus the shared experiences of Ghanaian girls and women in the motherland and the diaspora. She unearths a broad scope of interactions and emotions, depicting individuals in their attempts to navigate their immediate surroundings, and establish a sense of purpose and truth. In their journeys, we find growth, shared humanity, and a deeply profound sense of pride.

The poems in Twenty Four provide readers with an understanding of African culture and identity which really make these wonderful poems come alive. Tina Abena Oforiwa has been able to capture the essence of familial bonds and those of displacement, engaging the readers wholeheartedly with her candor. A thoroughly good reader which deserves to be read over and over again.
Rug burns and the Kiss are two of my favourite poems in the collection and i love them for their ability of evoking such vivid imageries which has me yearning for home.

A wonderful collection of poems written with raw emotion. Touching on various topics such as the struggles of leaving your home country for another, something which I could identify with. My favourite is The Departure.
