Award-winning author, Chariss K. Walker, M.Msc., Reiki Master/Teacher, writes both fiction and nonfiction books with a metaphysical and spiritual component. Her fiction expresses a visionary/metaphysical message that illustrates growth in a character's consciousness while utilizing a paranormal aspect. Her nonfiction books share insight, hope, and inspiration.
Those who search for meaning and the supernatural in themselves will enjoy her books.
Even though Chariss also writes dark-fiction about insanely dark topics, such as sexual abuse, incest, pedophilia, sexual assault, and other inappropriate dinner conversation, there is always an essential question of the abstract nature that gives a reader increasing awareness and perception.

An Alec Winters Series Complete, Books 1-4 by Chariss K. Walker

The complete Alec winters series with all four books. Alec is a unique individual. He is an Angel with special abilities, some good and some bad. The stories center around Alec, his family, friends and life. He is a bit of a vigilante fighting for what is right, and destroying the evil among them.

The plot is original, moves at a fast paced, with graphic details, and raw emotions. At times the story is very dark, and violent, as Alec is a (bit of) a crusader for justice. With self discovery, danger, friendship and love, I was pulled into the story and not able to let go until the very end. Chariss Walker knows how to grab your attention and not let go. I highly recommend to those who love a great (dark) fantasy. This book is for adult readers as it has graphic content not suitable for young readers.

This is the story of Alec--at 17 he witnesses his father doing the unspeakable to his sister--his inner powers come out--he will either appear as an Angel to those in need or the worst kind of avenging devil to those who would do horrible things to others! I did read all these books--they can get dark at parts but I had to keep on reading.

It all began when 17 year old Alec Winters caught his father in the act of molesting his younger sister, Catalina. Alec didn't relish his transformation, in fact, he didn't know what was happening to him. But, when seeds of vengeance sprang up and took hold of him, his destiny was forged. As the author of this series of books, it was a very difficult to write. It involves very dark topics such as pedophilia, incest, rape, murder and the very seediest side of life. It's also filled with emotional triggers. Usually when I get a bad review on any of the books in this series, it is because the topics have triggered raw emotions in the reader. Sometimes they are not ready to face those feelings. I understand that and I'm sorry for touching a painful nerve, but the story had to be written and I make no apologies for that. Everything in the world is not perfect... it's a reality that many of us have to face even if some don't.
Now, all the books in An Alec Winters Series (Prelude, Crescent City, Port City, and Harbor City) are in one place and can be read in order with one download.

Unfulfilled Potential

This story line held the promise of a good tale. But it is a promise left wanting. Instead of allowing the story to unfold through the character's eyes, the author tells the story, often repeating earlier passages in an effort to fill space and time. skip book 2. It's a near verbatim repeat of book 1. I quit halfway through 2, and skipped to the end hoping for some improvement in technique. No such luck. Read at your own peril!

Stereotyped, cliche, simplistic, written at about a fifth grade level, with cardboard characters that are all good or all bad, and in extreme ways. I couldn't finish it.

Different...

An Alec Winters Series Complete, Books 1-4 by Chariss K. Walker:

This dark storyline is told in third person. Mostly concerning pedophilia men who abuse innocent children (not overly graphic, but still gut wrenching) and a serial killer who is an avenger to the wicked and an Angel savior to the innocent.
It jumps around a lot, with a confusing timeline, telling the story of many interconnected people. Lives are changed with traumatic events and decisions are made accordingly. The avenger/savior evolves to mete out justice against evildoers. An interesting, different story, but I didn’t like the writing style.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. I really enjoyed this collection, even though it's can be disturbing at time. Alec Winters is both blessed and cursed, but his job is to save the innocent from the evil that is in the world. He has accepted all the tragedy in his and his family life, since the ghost of his grandfather has told him it is fate. Will he and his sister ever find the peace they seek? Listen to this very fast paced, suspenseful tale to find out, you'll be listening much longer then you intend.

Loved this taking place in Nee Orleans as in from Louisiana. North but still.
As I listened to it straight through the retelling of the same things were a bit annoying. 30 mins to an hour of what I already knew wore on me a bit. It’s like each book is written so that anyone could just pick it up in the middle and know what’s going on. I get that. Most people aren’t going to start a series by picking up book 2 or 3.
I liked the characters and their development.
Narration by Walt Allen was great!

The faultless murderer

Demon or angel? The protagonist in this series is both, and as such cannot be punished for murders done in his demonic form. This is because he has a calling to protect the innocent from incest and paedophiles.
I read the four Alex Winters books in one volume and was always spellbound. I do hope there are more to come.

Surprises around every corner

Alex was gifted in being able to sniff out those needing help, yet he was also very human in some aspects. The surprises in the last book tied everything together. Throughout the entire series, there were numerous editorial mistakes which made fluent reading difficult in those passages.

Good Reading

Fun to read, easy to follow, enjoyed the story line, interesting take on faith and supernatural, not necessary to read prior books but helpful

Very good read

Different slant on good / evil. The separation or "path" of characters is a little saddening but over all a enjoyable read!
