During the hectic Christmas season, slow down with these heartwarming stories from some of literature’s most beloved writers.
In this collection, readers will discover lesser-known but tender stories and poems from classic authors they know and love. Each selection celebrates the beauty, mystery, and joy found in the season that commemorates Christ’s birth.
A Vintage Christmas includes stories from Louisa May Alcott, Charles Dickens, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Mark Twain, L.M. Montgomery, and Selma Lagerlof, as well as poems from John Milton, Christina Rossetti, William Makepeace Thackeray, Anne Brontë, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
Various is the correct author for any book with multiple unknown authors, and is acceptable for books with multiple known authors, especially if not all are known or the list is very long (over 50).
If an editor is known, however, Various is not necessary. List the name of the editor as the primary author (with role "editor"). Contributing authors' names follow it.
Note: WorldCat is an excellent resource for finding author information and contents of anthologies.
I was mainly interested in listening to the L.M. Montgomery stories but all were good. This was a nice selection and the narrators did a good job. Their voices seemed to fit with these classic stories.
There are some marvelous gems in here, especially L.M. Montgomery's short stories (it's fun to be back in Anne's world!), and also a gem by Ralph Henry Barbour called A College Santa Clause. This collection of story is heartwarming and is definitely worth your time.
“Fires were kindled on cold hearths, tables spread as if by magic, and warm clothes wrapped round shivering limbs. Flowers suddenly bloomed in the chambers of the sick; old people found themselves remembered; sad hearts were consoled by a tender word, and wicked ones softened by the story of Him who forgave all sin.” – A Christmas Dream and How It Came to Be True
