Embracing Purpose

Allison’s life didn’t turn out the way she’d planned. The moment she graduated from college everything changed. She found herself traveling down a path she didn’t choose.

When Allison’s mother, Lilly, received the bleak diagnosis of cancer, the young lady had to step in and help care for her and her special needs baby sister.

Determined to make the best of the life Allison felt she had to keep all others at arms’ length. Neighbor Cole Parker didn’t let that stop him from being the friend she needed during the darkest hour of her life.

Sometimes we can’t control our destinies and we have no choice but to allow life to take us where it will.

Allison Norbeck feels like God has abandoned her when she is forced to care of her dying mother and six year old down’s syndrome sister Bethany right after she finished college. Cole Parker moved into her neighborhood and takes an interest in Allison and her family. But Allison feels like she has too much baggage and it wouldn’t be right to date Cole. It takes a promise from her dying mother for her open herself up the possibility of a relationship with him. But then his step mother takes an instant dislike to Bethany and calls social services on Allison and his family gives him an ultimatum to break up with her or be cut off from the family business which drives a rift between them. The story was pretty down and dark first about dealing with cancer and then about dealing with stigma from having a special needs child. I was rooting for Allison and Cole to be together, but all the darkness they had to deal with felt overdone.

Extreme Tear -Jerker
This is a faith-filled story about purpose in our lives and how God eases that burden if we let him. The plot is pretty simple. And, as in many stories it is the getting to the end that is so emotional. For a novella, it is about a 3 hanky read. I have read a few of this author's books and others in this series. I think this is her best to date. I received this ARC book for free and this is my honest review.
