Cue the Confusion.Lady Arianna Blackthorn is a woman on a mission--she intends to rescue her brother, Jak, from the infamous BleakHall prison. BleakHall is a Triple Max Penitentiary where only the worst of the worst are sent--a males-only facility where not even female prison guards are allowed. So how can Ari infiltrate this fortress? She's determined to get in and she has a foolproof plan for getting both herself and Jak out...or so she thinks.Commander Lathe is a Blood Kindred who lost his younger brother to the horrors of BleakHall. He is on a mission to go undercover and collect evidence against the cruel and ruthless prison guards who run it and the Yonnite Mistresses who own it. He also has a plan to get out but it's going to take some time and while he's waiting, a strange new inmate comes to BleakHall--a boy called Ari.Ari is in over her head from the minute she steps through the prison gates. She is immediately singled out by Tapper, BleakHall's most ruthless sexual predator, as his next conquest. Only Lathe's timely intervention saves her from a fate worse than death...and death itself. Lathe moves Ari into his cell to keep her safe but he has no idea she is really a female and Ari doesn't dare to tell him. Can Ari keep her secret from the big Kindred? Can Lathe sort through his confusing feelings for the "boy" he has taken under his wing? You'll have to read this Gender Bender, Hot Alien Warrior Romance, Imprisoned, to find out...Author's Spice Note--OMG--I LOVE writing this trope! The heroine is a girl dressed as a boy and the hero falls for her, even though he thinks she's male and he's straight. Lathe keeps wondering why he can't stop thinking about Ari and wanting to touch him. (Spoiler--he totally touches Ari and things get really spicy.) I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it! Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.
Main characters: Medic aka Commander Lathe & Ari aka Lady Arianna Blackthorn Type of Kindred: Blood Kindred Kill-All and
The story takes place at a the infamous BleakHall prison which is a Triple Max prison full of savage alien predators (some humanoids and some who look like monsters from nightmares. Author's imagination has no limits really).
Lathe is in a secret mission. He pretends to be a criminal and a prisoner in BleakHall in order to avenge his brother death and to reveal the cruelty and inhumanity of this particular prison. Ari is also in a secret mission. She pretends to be a young man and a prisoner in BleakHall in order to help her brother who is truly a prisoner there for ambiguous, unfair reasons.
Lathe thinks that Ari is a young man and soon he will be Ari's protector when Tapper, BleakHall's most ruthless sexual predator, puts Ari in his list. Although extremely scared, Ari will behave bravely one time and too stupid to leave the other time and he/she will push Lathe's limits.
The story is awesomely constructed as a prison sci-fi drama with horror elements, but it can also be considered as a “gay for you” story for the majority of the book. Lathe was never into men, but he will fight his true nature when he becomes attracted to young Ari. There are sex scenes in the book when Lathe reacts sexually to Ari though he believes that Ari is a young man.
Moreover in the book we meet again the Yonnite Mistresses. Surprise, suprise the prison belongs to them and they love to send there unwilling slaves. But also many of our favourite main characters of the series will appear.
Genre: sci-fi erotic romance Series: # whatever it is in a never-ending series but I have read only one of the previous bks and I didn't feel lost
Idiot h goes to a galactic prison disguised as a boy to rescue her brother.
According to my records, I've read over 45 of this author's bks, altho I haven't read her in over a year and she turns out like 4-6 bks a yr. I can't believe that I had forgotten how annoying and TSTL most of her heroines were. This one might be the most TSTL yet. She went into a prison and got into non-stop trouble the second she stepped foot into that place because of her snarky big mouth. She could not STFU and then she would cry and tremble bc she was about to get raped and killed every minute. Jeez.
Usually, I can overlook the annoying h for the hotness but I didn't find the sex scenes sexy since I lot of it was public and the "I have to give you an alien anal probe to protect you" type. Not my jam.
Content warnings: lots of violence, gore, mutilations, killings, rape, attempted gang rape
Let me start by saying this book is not for everyone. It is a very dark book but in my eyes it has to be since the story is about these two being in a very bad prison. I think the author did an amazing job portraying what life would have been like in this type of prison. Me personally, I loved the book. I went into reading the book knowing a little what to expect.
Latha was a blood kindred but not your normal blood kindred. He was what they called a Kill-All or a Cure-All. His essence could be use in different ways. I personal would love to see more books on this type of Kindred. I found Latha very sexy. I loved that he had chosen to be in the medical field. It was perfect for his special gift. I think there is so many areas that the author could go when it comes to this type of Kindred.
Ari aka Lady Arianna Blackthorn was a very strong woman. I just loved her. I tried to picture whether I would have the strength to enter a prison pretending to be a boy to save someone I cared about. It took so much strength and courage. She put herself in a very dangerous situation. It was actually more dangerous then she had ever dreamed.
Though I am truly not into MM books this was different because Ari was a woman that was actually pretending to be a man. I love that we got to see the battle that Lathe was having with himself. Here he was a straight male finding himself attracted to what he thought was another male. I think the author did an amazing job describing his struggle and all this inward battles.
There is a lot that happens in this story and let me tell you there are some pretty steamy parts as well. Can I just say WOW. I was so squirming in my seat and it was not helping that I was reading this at work..LOL
I am happy that I got a chance to read this book. I am looking forward to the next book that will be coming out in the Kindred Bride series.

Okay, so I did something to this book so 4 stars it is 😂 (it's something that's not talked about in romance novels for some reason)...
Ari disguises as a boy to infiltrate this max security person to rescue his brother. Lathe, a doctor, is undercover to gain enough evidence to shut the prison down. Of course, Lathe develops feelings for Ari and is confused by Ari seems to be a guy. I liked how at the beginning Ari didn't even like Lathe and mistrusted him; Ari thought Lathe was another guy set to take her ass.
WOW..... I have loved reading this book. The way Ari goes to extreme measures just to go infiltrate a prison to get her brother out shows how much she does love him. I love Lathes / Medics character. The way he goes to extreme lengths to protect Ari is amazing. I do understand his feeling when he tries to figure out why he keeps on having feelings for Ari when she is a pretending to be a male in this prison. How they treat the prisoners is awful. When Lathe find outs that Ari has been lying to him the whole time he will be upset because he HATES lies. He forgives her at some point because he does love her and will do anything to protect her.
I couldn’t put this book down and ended up reading until 4 am. Great story with a slow burn romance until the last quarter. I consider this more a dark suspense story. Loved Lathe and Ari! 4.5
I found and loved this series a few years ago when I was very pregnant and miserable on bedrest. I don't know how it fell off of my radar but I refound it again after seeing an advert for Imprisoned. I was so excited when I read the premise. I remembered wishing for a tougher heroine and Arianna seemed like exactly the kind of woman I wanted to read about. She knows martial arts and is a super intelligent inventor. Arianna was a little naive about how bad the prison would be (but she's lived a priveleged life as a noble so it's not surprising) and at first I found myself a tad frustrated with her actions but she really grows and comes through as the tough fighter I knew she could be in the end! In a weird (but good!) way, I got a Game of Thrones fanfic vibe from this. Arianna goes undercover as Ari to avoid being attacked (Arya Stark goes undercover as Ari for the same reason) to get to her very close, older brother (Jak in prison vs Jon at Castle Black) and have to rely on a older, larger male (Lathe vs Gendry) to navigate the seedy world after a life of privilege and nobility (a lesser noble vs House Stark) Arianna has the same sort of blunt honesty and directness that Arya Stark has. Arianna also grossly over estimates her fighting abilities just like Arya Stark does. I don't know if it was intentional or if I'm just projecting another of my favorite book series onto this one but the similarities were apparent to me and I really liked it! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I might be one of the few who enjoys the fluffiness and the storylines of this series rather than just the sexy scenes. I'll be going back through the series from the beginning and reading the other books I've missed. Thanks for a great binge read!
I'm a big fan of Evangeline Anderson's books. However, I do find that her theme of an interested meeting followed by only a couple of days in intense situations to be a bit too repetitive. You can almost predict how her books are going to go with the exception of a few new plot twists. I would really like to see her improve as an author to mix up the scenarios with some drawn out romances that happen over time or something that started in the past but is finally reaching a conclusion in the future. The book Imprisoned does add a new twist to her books that haven't been done yet. The new prison setting was an interesting setting to place her characters and the warning in the beginning is very apt, so make sure you read that over carefully before starting the book. I did like Ari and Lathe. I wish Ari came out a bit tougher in the end (prison does change people) but her character did offer a softer touch to the harsh image of the prison. Lathe was by far my favorite out of the pair for his intense scenes and for his demeanor throughout the whole book. Major props for making him appear one way and as the reader finds out more, keeping the facade in place for the characters of the book. All in all I would suggest this book as a good read but if you're a fan of Anderson's work, you won't be too surprised when things happen.

It’s been awhile since I’ve read one of her books so I forgot how cozy it can be and fun it can be to fall back into to the terms. I was especially excited I got to briefly see Baird, Sylvan and Olivia. It feels like her other books and I devoured it in days. The content of this one? Not so cozy at times. Evangeline had a warning at the beginning (always appreciate) but I wasn’t completely prepared for the amount of times rape came up. I appreciate her doing something different but I found it a hard to get into the romance after a graphic rape description. I ended up skimming those pages. However, it won’t stop me from reading the next one in the series! Still a huge fan.
This book has a forewarning! The subject matter could be a definite Trigger for some. Please heed the warning in the front if you think it may Trigger you in the slightest.
I love the Kindred World and have been following since the very of when the series launched. This one was no different. It was a super fresh idea and storyline which was told very skillfully right down until the last part - the Bonding. It felt a bit stale and almost copied and pasted with some minor tweaks. It was a dark and twisty book but I liked the way EA told the internal struggle of Lathe. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea I still have to give this one five stars though!
I will say that I cannot wait for Slade's story! He seemed quite interesting and I can't wait to see what is in store for him.
There’s a legit trigger warning on this one. It’s “Mean Girl 6” aka Yonnie 6 (planet run by the meanest females ever created) and it’s a super max male prison. The place is owned by corrupt and mean women (for a profit) and the guards are lizard things or going to eat you after lights out. This makes Shawshank sound like a resort. The crime of being male is all it takes to find yourself here. There’s no Andy DuFrene type escape (The Shawshank Redemption is something everyone should read/watch. It’s awesome.)
This place is inescapable, full of rapists and murderers (alongside those who were born male as their crime).
It’s dark, dangerous and you probably don’t want to eat the food. The best I can say for the food is it keeps you from starving.
There’s a cameo from the Alien Mate Index series (#2, to be exact). See if you can spot him.
Twists, turns, adventure, peril and of course...steamy scenes. All what you’d expect to find in a book by this author. The dark prison aspect made it harder for me to read, but it was worth it.

Another fantastic instalment in this evergrowing series.
I freaking adored the concept of this book and really enjoyed the confusion and scenarios it raised in both the male and female lead. Filled with chemistry and action this book is not to be missed! I’m missing a whole chunk of the series from book 13 to about 20 my bad I really need to read them and catch up. I was missing a whole Chunk regarding the tremendous bitches that are from planet meangirl... but despite that I was able to chug through this story with ease.
Trigger warnings from the author come with this book... its set in a male triple max prison.. don’t touch if your triggered by stories that have themes of abuse.
And I’m really looking forward to the next book!!!
Fascinating, Engaging This is the story about a two particular people infiltrating a Triple Max Penitentiary. It’s an all-male facility, not even a female guard. One is a Blood Kindred who want to help get evidence to shut the cruelty down as well as the false imprisonment that’s happening. He’s undercover as a medic and wants revenge for his brother false imprisonment and death there. Then there is Lady Arianna Blackthorn, who goes in impersonating a male with the help of technology she created. Her brother Jak is imprisoned falsely and she has a plan to get him out. But Ari has no idea she going to be over her head and ability to survive unharmed. This is such an enthralling story with action throughout. Well written self-contained story.
I highly recommend reading these stories of adventure and love. You won't be disappointed! Every book opens up so many emotions. When you close one of these books you will have a feeling of satisfaction and a desire to read another immediately!
Ari and Lathe both voluntarily got themselves into an absolutely hideous all male prison to rescue brothers that they loved. The catch? Ari went disguised as a man. I did like the story. Ms. Anderson did not hide much from the reader; there were some really violent and nasty parts to the story on the way to Ari and Lathe’s HEA so be warned. I think that some of the story could have been edited out - the parts of the story in which the characters are on the way to healing and “sexy times” could do without all the “havering about”. Lady Arianna Blackthorn (Ari) is determined to save her brother from a Triple Max prison. She has a device that makes her appear male, and has some hand-to-hand combat skills, and a device to float them out of the razor filled walls. Unfortunately she underestimates the brutality there, and would not have lasted 2 seconds if Kindred Lathe had not been drawn to her cries of distress and stepped in to save her.
Each main character has a plan to escape the prison, but is afraid to trust the other with that knowledge. The cruelty and gritty situations make for a tense and exciting read. Ari must work to locate and save her brother, all while avoiding the most dangerous of the inmates.
The growth of the relationship, the revelation of Ari’s gender, the struggle within the prison and opportunities once they are out culminate in a fascinating and touching read.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
I absolutely loved Lathe and Ari!!! Lathe goes undercover in one of the worst prisons to get evidence of the horrible abuse going on. While there he sees a young boy being brought in and feels a strong attraction to him, even though he's not gay. He tries to protect Ari from the other inmates, while trying to figure out why he's so infatuated with him. Ari is in this prison disguised as a boy so she could go undercover in this prison and rescue her brother. He was enslaved and then sent to the prison. Ari will do anything to save him, including hide who she is to the man protecting her, even though she has developed feelings for him. When her real gender comes to light, things get bad. Can Lathe get to Ari in time? Forgive her for her deceit? What will happen after? Lots of questions that need to be answered. Also, the spoilers for the next 2 books are fantastic. I can't wait to read them. I need them right now!!!!
Not sure how she does it, another amazing story in the Kindred universe. Tough subject matter but another amazing heroine and her equally awesome Kindred. Can't wait for Slade's story !!!!
Wow!!! Evangeline Anderson's books never stop the surprises with her awesome and wild imagination. This book takes you to the awful world of prison life on an alien planet that is run by cruel and deadly guards. Ari is going to try to rescue her older brother, who was captured into slavery and sent to this prison for refusing to cooperate, by infiltrating the prison in the disguise of a young boy. Lathe is attracted to the young boy and wants to protect him, but he doesn't understand why. He has never felt attracted to another man. In the process of surviving things between them change and danger is lurking right around the corner. I was so engrossed in this book. Loved it!!
I honestly think Ari is one of my favorite heroines so far! And Lathe is sexy as heck. I loved the ongoing monologue he had going in head about how could he be so attracted to another "male" when he never had been before...I kept thinking he was a typical Male in that he believes his eyes more than his nose or any other things that made him question it all. I highly recommend as always The Brides of the Kindred series as well as any other Evangeline's other series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own. As usual this series doesn't disappoint. The storyline while awesome it was also disturbing at the same time either way it had me at the edge of my seat. Definitely a page turn indeed it will have you entranced from beginning to end. It's that great!!! This story contains lots of bravery, love, sacrifice, and tons of stubbornness from Ari who willing to do anything to save her brother. I don't want to give out any spoilers so you'll just have to check it out for yourself to see what I'm talking about. I will say this tho!!!! This by far was one of the best Brides of the Kindred addition believe me your not going to want to put it down. Also that little teaser at the end about Slade was everything I can't wait to read his story next.
It has been awhile since I read a Kindred book, but this one did not disappoint. It dealt with a very serious subject matter of abuse, but it was discussed well. I like the struggle between the main characters and really enjoyed the story line. I’m actually looking forward to the next book which hasn’t happened in awhile. Good read.
Ari and Lathe have an immediate connection that has his reeling and makes this story even more intriguing. I love how protective the Kindred men are, but this one really shows how dedicated they truly are to those they care about. Lathe has no idea that Ari is a female and knows he’s growing to love the little one. Even with all of his confusion, he never once slides from his protective nature, even when he’s mad at her about the lie. I love this series and how Evangeline has ensured each story is different enough to keep you coming back for more, but never changes her writing style. I’m a forever fan of Evangeline and I’ve enjoyed each and every book she’s written. I cannot wait for more!

Trust issues and confusing emotions among the danger and violence make for an intense trip into BleakHall, a triple max prison. Laith and Ari find themselves there for very different reasons and are surprisingly drawn to each other. An excellent Bride of the Kindred story, always wanting more! I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
What else can i say, I love these Kindred stories. Evangeline Anderson is one of my favorite sci-fi romance authors. The stories are perfect for letting me just relax and forget my own problems for a few hours.
