On May 18th, 1863 – the day the siege of the Confederate stronghold at Vicksburg began – a secret war chest was removed by an ironclad and taken away along the Mississippi River.
It contained a Covenant capable of altering the entire course of the Civil War. Its destination was Washington, D.C.
A place it never reached.
In the present day, Minnesotan senator Arthur Perry has enlisted the help of Sam Reilly to track down his son, who went missing while following a strange lead in the centuries old search for the fabled Meskwaki Gold Spring within Lake Superior.
No one could have suspected that these two events, separated by more than 150 years, were inextricably linked. . .
The Heisenberg Legacy
On January the 22nd, 1945, a secret weapon of unimaginable power was brought from the quiet town of Haigerloch in Germany’s southwest, and loaded onto a plane waiting at Stuttgart.
Less than a dozen people knew of the weapon’s existence, and even less knew where it was being taken.
The aircraft, its crew, and its remarkable cargo were never seen again.
Until now.
When the wreckage of the aircraft is located in present day Washington D.C. with no sign of its deadly cargo on board, Sam Reilly is called in to investigate.
But the situation soon erupts into something much more dangerous than a simple recovery mission…

The Ironclad Covenant, my tenth read from author Christopher Cartwright & the tenth book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. A well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters. Reminds me of Dan Brown’s early writing as well as the character of Indiana Jones. Since I live in northern Michigan & am employed by Beneteau North America the setting & some aspects of the book had particular appeal to me. The Heisenberg Legacy, my eleventh read from author Christopher Cartwright & the eleventh book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. Well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters. Reminds me of Dan Brown’s writing. Omega Deep, my twelfth read from author Christopher Cartwright & the twelfth book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. Well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters. Reminds me of Dan Brown’s writing. These books have been a rollicking adventure & I’ll be reading more by this author as I already own more books in the series and am looking for sales to buy more yet! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
This collection of books lead to answers well almost, the first is about treasure hunting from Vicksburg 1845, and greed. A son who wants to out do his father and well you need to read it with Sam Reilly and Tom Bower you know it's not going to be as straight forward as that. The second book tell us how far Hitler managed to get close to an atom bomb and a game Sam has to play to save many lives does he win is there a winner humm . The third book takes us to Unknown places that might (in another book) give the world some answers, a USA submarine goes missing a very special vessel and it takes almost everything Sam has to try to solve this problem. Three great reads three great stories and a great author who manipulates the words to put it all together. Very recommended
This collection could have been 1/3 the length if all the extra descriptions would have been taken out. There is detail then there is DETAIL. An example below.
“She smiled a full set of even white teeth, bar one. Sam recalled it had been knocked crooked during an attack in Afghanistan by a small fragment of shrapnel that ricocheted off a protective wall by an IED blast. She’d once meant to get it fixed when she returned stateside but decided against it, telling everyone it reminded her that she should have died that day, and now every day is a bonus–as such she didn’t want to waste a day of it.”
This wasn’t the worst. It got so bogged down in description, it was hard to keep up in the story. I think it could have been good but I gave up after chapter 25.
This is was one of the most riveting and action packed trio of books I have ever encountered. The two main characters are two of the toughest but most gentlemanly but laid back men I have heard of. Despite the dangerous situations they find the themselves locked into, they prove to be the most entertaining and exclusive daredevils ever. Well written, keeps you on tenterhooks throughout. A not to be missed experience
Good adventures with Sam Reilly's team, a bit like a modern Indiana Jones on diving adventures. Good plots, likeable protagonists and good storytelling make this a very enjoyable read. If the descriptions of some ... um... contraptions? ... were a bit too technical for my taste, that's entirely my own problem. On the whole, I really like this series, and this book with three of Sam's adventures in one book is a bargain.
I rated these books 4 stars. The rating is not for the writing skills the characters, of the stories. I guess the author is trying to combine fantasy and adventure into a marketing theme. The author has created larger than life characters for equally larger than life stories. If you are looking for simple pleasures and are okay with the premise, I say go for it. I was entertained and you can too hence the 4 stars.
I originally got this set of books for free, and after I read them, went back and purchased the entire series. They are great. Each book is complete, no cliff hangers, but will make reference to prior books. This is an action, thriller, fantasy - think Dirk Pitt with Atlantis and mystery temples thrown in. There are some technical details they school you in, that makes the story informative and plausible. Really enjoyable read.
Audible:It is always a pleasure to spend time with Sam and his 'friends'.In these three books he is diving wrecks and nearly losing his life to find a big wigs kid,to save the world from a nuclear bomb and just to hang out and wait for orders...right.David Gilmore was the perfect narrator. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
Another winner from Christopher Cartwright! His books just keep getting better and better and getting a collection of 3 together is great. I love how he weaves in some history in many of his stories and Sam Reilly is always an enjoyable character, along with his sidekick Tom and the whole crew of his boat the Maria Helena.
Three gripping books of mystery and thrills. Tons of action, lots of twists. The Omega Deep was a bit confusing till about 3/5's of the way through then it started to be explained. In the end I still had questions that had been touched on in the beginning and had to go back and reread the info. All were entertaining.
Color me a huge Christopher Cartwright fan. I wish he would get a good proofreader, but his skill in spinning a good yarn using potential historical facts blended with fantasy is breathtaking! Do not miss this series!
Wow, this author goes from one extreme to the other. Interesting reads, but some are just plain strange. Also, I'm not a fan of cliffhanger books which the 3rd one in this series is, but... sometimes it happens. Definitely recommended, but there's been better.
Of the set of three books, number 10 and 12 were good adventure thrillers with interesting and unexpected twists and turns. However, I found book 11, "The Heisenberg Legacy" was a bit tedious, slow-paced and the action was spotty. Looking forward to book 13.
Great group of books for anyone who likes high adventures with a twist of the historical. I totally enjoyed them and I know nothing about submarines and submersibles. I'm looking forward to the next set of volumes.
Exciting! Captivated my attention. Love the characters and their interactions. Amazing things happen when Sam is around. The author makes even the little things exciting. Great reading.
I love listening to these books in series! I listen on long drives & the series automatically goes from book to book! No pulling over to start a new book! Christopher keeps me at the edge of my seat wonder what kind of trouble Sam will find himself in next!
Really good set of books didn't want to finish reading it a few bits were repeated but other than that would recommend it reminded me of the davinchi code as well as some of clive cussler books
Three unputdownable books in a row! Great characters, intriguing plots, fabulous storytelling. Fans of Clive Cussler will LOVE the Sam Reilly series!!!
This is the second Sam Reilly collection I have completed. The stories are entertaining if somewhat over the top on occasion. Difficult to put down and well thought out
