Holly Webb is one of Britain's best-loved children's writers. She has written over a hundred books for children, and her work has been translated into over thirty languages. Holly lives in Tilehurst, just outside of Reading, Berkshire, with her husband, three children and several cats.

I usually don't read children books...but this author paid my attention. I have two cats myself, so I got interested in these illustrated books.
So I read this one... And... My feelings.... I swear I used three tissues to finish this book. It made me cry in every single sentence. The main character reminded of myself at the same age... Well... I got my first cat only when I was an adult. But this story is truly heart-breaking. I believe kids love these books. Going to buy and read other stories about kittens.
Illustrations are so simple, but beautiful. A truly good book for a child who loves reading about pets. I wish I could get such a book as a gift when I was little. Talented author.

First book that I was ever gifted, that I remember of. My class Teacher gave me this book, I think in 1st or 2nd grade.
I really wanted to get a kitten after reading this, my parents didnt allow it though :(

I’ve had this book in my library for years thinking it was some silly children’s book not to pick up and read. It had a message many adults today need. Focus on the positivity of you’re life, and don’t let negativity blind you. That is the only advice I can sum up after 121 pages. It’s true, children should be taught that from a young age. It was a quick reminder to appreciate our blessings and focus on the good things in life.

I was so sad when they said that they were going to give back sky, but luckliy sky stayed but they have to find sky. so if you have't read the book you should read it to find out what hapens.

Lucy is really upset about having to move a new house and leave her old school and her friends. But not long after the move, she is given a beautiful Siamese kitten named Sky. But Lucy believes she only has Sky to make her forget all about her old home and her old friends and even Ginger and Nutmeg, the two cats who used to live next door. So she pretends she doesn’t like her gorgeous kitten. Whenever someone is around, she pretends Sky is not there, when she is all alone, she will play with the kitten and cuddle her. But poor Sky is so confused. Does Lucy love her or not?


I absolutely love this book, it was the first one I read by this author, and I have loved Holly Webb’s book ever since.
It has a very good lesson, with simple but still very cute illustrations. Lucy, the girl has to learn that her behavior was not okay, as she was only thinking about herself and no one else. If you are a cat lover like Lucy, have animal obsessed kids, you won’t want to miss out on this one. ❤️😻

I read this with my daughter. She wanted to read it simply because it was about a cat. It was a quick and easy read and my daughter stayed engaged the whole time. However, we both found it excessively sad for such a simple story. And, honestly the girl didn’t make any sense to me. The conflict she created seemed ridiculous. The idea seemed to be really stretched far from anything real. And what a weird family dynamic this set up. Weird is okay for older kids, but for this easy book for young children, it really didn’t make sense to my daughter why the girl wouldn’t talk to her family and also how she could act in that way toward the kitten.

This was the first book I ever read as a child and I still remember it to this day. It isn't a novel that I would read now but it has sentimental value for me because it's what started my love of reading because of the storytelling in this book.

Tyttäreni oli valikoinut tämän kirjan unisatulukemiseksi kansikuvan suloisen siamilaiskissan perusteella. Takakannen luettuani minulla oli omat epäilykset kirjan sopimisesta 5-vuotiaalle kissarakkaalle tyttärelleni unisaduksi.
Kirjassa käsitellään hyvin lapsuuden vaikeita tunteita: surua, yksinäisyyttä, hämmennystä. Kirja kuvaa mielestäni mainiosti sitä, kuinka lapsi voi käsittää helposti väärin aikuisen sanoman. Päähenkilön, Lucyn, ristiriitainen käytös kissanpentua kohtaan ja omasta toiminnastaan potema huono omatunto olivat mielestäni oivia teemoja käsitellä lasten kanssa.
Kirjassa oli hyvin alakuloinen tunnelma 3/4 kirjasta. Tämä vaikuttaa siihen, että annoin kirjalle vain kolme tähteä. Kuulijalle jäi todella surullinen mieli kirjasta, vaikka kaikki päätyikin hyvin.

I stumbled upon this book looking to fill a prompt in a readathon. I’m glad I did. I feel this story highlights that not only should a gift be cherished but also to remind us that animals aren’t possessions.

Lucy is so sad when her family has to move. She misses her home, her friends and her neighbours cats. So the parents buy Sky this beautiful kitten. A lesson to us all. The story does have a happy ending which you would expect from a children’s book but it does make you think about how we treat others and consider how our furry family members feel.
