Well this was an annoying read. I do wish people would stop being successful in more than one career, it's so irritating for those of us who don't enjoy our sole one.

It was an enjoyable read with some lovely descriptive text and several stories - relating to each of the 3 main characters in the story - intertwining around the plot. I did think the subject of the plot was an unusual choice, since when would Alan Titchmarsh be interested in organ fraud? Some of the MI5 stuff was inaccurate as was some of the medical stuff but given the quality of the overall story and the extent of the research I didn't mind. I really do need to pull my finger out and write a story of my own.

The three main characters meet every Friday night to play dominoes and one is happily married, the second is divorced because his wife left him and the third plays the field. A very light read and not a style that you usually expect to be written by a man

This book came to me as a surprise - I wouldn't have picked it out, but a friend was clearing her mother's books and I remembered that Alan Titchmarsh had received a 'bad sex' award for his writing, so I was curious and accepted the book, which I have now passed on to another friend. I was very pleasantly surprised! It's about what I would call an 'old men's club' - three friends, Dr Christopher Devon, Gary, and Tiger, who meet in the pub for a pint and game of dominos every week. There's a crime and romance element to each man's story and it's all nicely told. Loved the gardening detail on Christopher's part, it really added to the story. This would be a perfect holiday/beach read and it is obviously not the book with the 'bad sex' writing!

This was quite hard to rate really . It’s not brilliantly written, the story line is iffy, I wasn’t aware GP’s had so much power and actually I suspect they don’t. The title is misleading being really about 3 men and their potential midlife crisis’. It should have been called the dominoes secret society or something similar. It holds no great depth or suspense. However I still liked it. The characters are all reasonably likeable and what it does do is show human beings plodding through their lives and often how hard this actually is.

This was the first Alan Titchmarsh book I read, and I wasn't wholly impressed. I bought it as an easy ride for travelling, and it was that. It is more than just a romance, with some professional entanglements thrown in from the characters' respective careers. And the characters were, mostly, likeable. But it was all just a bit *too* easy. I might read a more recent book by Titchmarsh to see how he's developed as a writer, but it's not high on my priority list.

I don't have much to say about this, it was just... fine.
I enjoyed the story line and it was interesting, but at the same time it felt like it wanted to be too many things at once. Romcom, family drama, medical drama, MI5 spy story? Just over all okay and quick to read and not bad, but also not insanely good either.

I picked this up just to keep me occupied at work and what a delightful surprise it was. An easy, flowing story with relatable characters and a little mystery running through it. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more Alan Titchmarsh books!

I read his autobiog which I enjoyed but this is the 1st novel I've picked up by Alan T - quite enjoyed it too. Suprisingly easy to read, flows well. And nice little twist in the 'whodunnit'.
