UPDATE 9/30/14: A fully-revised 2nd edition of Kill Zombies is now available.

Was there anything wrong with the 1st edition of Kill Zombies? Not really. I was still receiving positive reviews, but the constructive criticism brought to my attention by my readers needed to be addressed. I want people to have a positive reading experience, so I'm dedicated to delivering my best work.

I would like to thank all the kind folks over the past year who've read Kill Zombies and offered helpful feedback. Your dedication to my writing has helped my new editing team make Kill Zombies an even better story, which will entertain a new wave of readers.

Thinking outside of the box again, author T. A. Uner has added some backstory to some of his characters in his The Leopard King Saga Tomes, Kill Zombies is filled to the brim with different worlds melting together! Imagine living in a world where dinosaurs survived and lived alongside humans, an alternate reality. Talk about coloring outside the lines!

T. A. Uner follows Malcolm and his sidekick, the mutant crocodile Sawtooth, who, like the uber croc he is, has the classic rows of croc teeth, only massively huge, and the ability to communicate with Malcolm! A deadly team, they are destined for more than life in the swamps, hunting the last remaining raptors. When tears in other dimensions bring new and incredible beings, will Malcolm gain allies or face the deadliest foes he has ever known? Will he, too become part of the shuffle between realms? And, what kind of name is Malcolm for a magical, companion of Sawtooth? And so...Croctus Reptilius is born...half-human, half other.

Is Kill Zombies intense? Definitely! Is it full of creative mayhem, that could never happen in this world? Who knows? Was it entertaining? Yes, very, especially if you have read The Leopard King Saga. I like my fantasy to take me to other places, I want to be missing from reality for a while and thanks to T. A. Uner, I was.

I was fortunate to receive this copy from T. A. Uner is exchange for my honest review.

This book has got a little of everything! Zombies, vampires, dinosaurs, time-travel, alternate realities - it's all there. And somehow the author manages to make it all work together nicely. It is a wild ride, but an interesting one, and it makes me wonder what the rest of the books in the Leopard King Saga are like (this is the first book I've read in the series).

There is one thing that I would like to have improved - the book could have benefited from some editing. Nothing major, but it would have given it the final polish I think.

Other then that it was a great (though wild) journey into the unknown!

Edit: I've been informed that the book has been revised as of 30th September 2014 so that final polish has probably been done! :)

I love it when an author can create such a complex dystopian world and make it seem so effortless. I also love how he put you in the mind of a raptor at the beginning of story. You could feel the anxiety and fear of becoming the hunted instead of the hunter.
I really enjoyed Repitllius and Sawtooth. He is a character with a hard exterior but still has a good heart. A lot of the harden exterior is due to all of the curveballs thrown at him in life. Even though he has become a mercenary, it doesn’t mean that he won’t do what is necessary to save his world. Anomalies are popping all over his swamp and he needs to figure out a way to stop them along with preventing a zombie apocalypse from happening in Florida.
He finds help with a teenage girl, Giselle, and a MIA-6 doctor, Dr. Holbourne. Both have their talents with helping him. After finding out more about each other, they realize that The Sect and vampires reach is extensive. I love their interaction with each other. Regardless if Repitllius wanted to, he let his guard down and became friends with them.
With everything that has happened with Repitllius I have to wonder if he will be reunited with Giselle in The Leopard Apocalypse. I kind of hope so. She does bring out quite a few good qualities in him. Archon, a time keeper, says a few cryptic statements at the end of the book that can be taken different ways, which makes me wonder why he really sent him back to Ancient Rome. I’m hoping it is to prevent the vampires from getting a foothold in the first place. I guess I will have to wait and see.

This didn't turn out anything like I was expecting and it wasn't to my taste overall. It's no real fault of the author but I didn't take to his writing style or the characters. It happens!

Basically I wanted more from Sawtooth that just grunting and eating chicken. From the description of him in the blurb I expected him to be a bit more human and able to talk, instead of just being a fast mutant crocodile. The MC was ok but I didn't feel we really got to know or connect with him. I think it was the use of flashback info dumps so often that disrupted the story flow and left little time to really get to know the characters. And of course the sidekick characters we first meet are the steriotype dumb rednecks which was a bit disappointing.

Overall, I didn't like the style, the frequent flashback info dumps and the way the story was being told. Just not for me I'm afraid.

Kill Zombies is a book that hooks you from the beginning. It starts with a half-human dino hunter named Croctus Reptilius and his tough mutant Croc named Sawtooth fighting dinosaurs. Throw in some Zombies, Vampires, alternate realities and a time keeper – you have one awesome book.

This book actually surpassed my expectations, and I really enjoyed it! I recommend to all.

Croctus Reptilius, formerly known as Malcolm from the Block (Dade City, Florida, that is), and his trusty mutant crocodile Sawtooth, hold sway in a future version of the Swamps where dinosaurs never went extinct and a Second American Civil War divided the nation into four separate nations. Into this brain-trip of a story are deposited, quite literally through an anomaly in the space-time fabric, a human clone, a few zombies, some vampires, and then of course vampire zombies (or vise versa). I'm sure I left out an alcoholic scientist and a mysterious Traveller, Archie, who's trying to correct alternate realities in the Great Swap Meet of Time.

As incredibly SyFy Channel as it sounds, this book was LOADS of FUN. Check your reality at the door, allow for an assload of willing suspension of disbelief, and you got yourself a rollickin' good time of a story. Which sort of probably ought to be made into a movie on SyFy.

The first thing that I will say about T.A. Uner altogether is the man has a mind that doesn't seem to have any limits. First he outdoes himself with Ancient Rome then sweeps you up to colonies off of Mars. And when you think you have read it all from him he takes you into a world where nothing is as it seems. Breathtaking!

So far I have to say this is probably one of my least favorite of the books that I have been given a chance to read of his. There was a lot going on within a small book while it seemed cluttered and at times very slow since of that. Some parts also seemed to be a bit on the repetitive side as well throughout the reading since there isn't much to the plot.

The characters were a bit flat within this story and one-dimensional. What I enjoyed about them is that it did go further into their stories on occasion so it was like reading stories within the stories to give you the lead-up to the main characters. By also including their back stories the author was introducing you to the complicated trouble that was at hand as well as how they were already interlinked to each other.

And for the time being this did a great job of standing apart from "The Leopard Vanguard", which may have been one of the reasons it had me irritated a bit. I couldn't figure out how this was going to relate at all to the original book and I still can't even after having got to the end. I thought Tullus was the good guy but it also seems that Malcolm is good so why are they going to be adversaries?

And really do you have to pit my two favorite characters against each other - Celestra & Sawtooth? In a sense I don't want to know how this ends but then again it is the suspense that will pick at you to know just how everything comes together in the end for there are twists and turns that cannot be foreseen.

By the way I love the cover although I think it may be the wrong species but can't tell. One way or another Reptilian as the book calls it is a good advertising piece for this book....

This book gets 5 stars for the author imagination alone. “Kill Zombies” was a captivating read that intertwined dinosaurs, crocodiles, zombies, vampires, cloning, scientists and time travel into one story effortlessly. I enjoyed how the different characters consistently flowed throughout this tale keeping this fantasy fresh and exciting.

The characters traveled in time and between alternative realms. Each chapter was an account of memories from the characters POV allowing the reader to connect the dots between others characters and pivotal moments.

Zombie fight scenes were expertly expressed illustrating just enough blood. Some characters were more memorable than others however my two favorite were Giselle & Reptilius (Malcolm).

The book does have some typos but is not a big enough distraction to stop reading. Despite these minor errors, “Kill Zombies” is another engaging read by T.A. Uner. I’ve never read anything like this. It is definitely a distinctive story with a gumbo of characters. I look forward to reading 1.2.

UPDATE: The typos are most likely corrected as a 2nd edition is now available for purchase.

OH MY GOD!! Picture this, in an alternate reality dinosuars once shared the earth with us. Mostly hunted and killed until only the crafty Raptors remained. Eventually in a war with humans these are mostly killed off. Our hero is a raptor hunter, along with his friend/pet mutated Croc theylive in the swamplands. Anomolies have begun to open from another dimension spewing forth Zombies. It is this new threat that our hero now faces. Along with a Super/Vampire/Clone teenage girl, a mad scientist from another alternate reality they decide to get to the bottom of the threat before their earth is overun.
It's mad, its bad and it kicks ass! The ideas are a mash of different sci-fi genre's that are blended together to make a fantastic cocktail.
So mix it all up and give it a shake and it makes for a great bread that evoke many childhood memories of old sci-fi books and films/tv.

I just missed a Ninja....but no room to fit one in...maybe next time Tuvan.

Dinosaurs, vampires, cyborgs, time travellers, multiple realities and of course, zombies. Sounds like a big mess, right? Well, T.A. Uner somehow makes it work!

Kill zombies is part of the King Leopard Saga, serving as a bridge between book #1 and #2, giving a backstory to one of the new characters introduced in the later. It can however be enjoyed as a stand-alone book, albeit a short one, that doesn't waste time with too many fillers, getting right into the action, and that from page 1.

The story itself is a very decent science fiction story, revisiting some of the popular sub-genres like multiple realities and time travel, slowly uncovering a plot that spans across all realities. The characters are definitely engaging and you can expect to smile and giggle at some of the exchanges between them (as T.A. Uner as accustomed us from his other books).

Overall a worthy addition to the Leopard King Universe, 4.5 / 5 stars!

What I realized by reading this book was that I hated zombies, that I despised crocodiles and that I didn't particularly like apocalypses either. If you've guessed that I speed read this book, well , you're right.

The writing felt very heavy in this one and it just didn't flow naturally. It needs more descriptions, less repetitions and less "choppiness" in general. The settings was very vague and I really didn't like the little random flashbacks of every single character throughout the book.

What I did like about this book was the time travelling and different realities. Uner added a different twist to an old classic and kind of made it his own. Although it wasn't too bad, I still didn't really understand how did no country intervene before Earth turned into Wall-E world...but you know, at least it teaches us about the consequences of environmental disasters.

If you like Vampire, Zombies, Anomalies, Alternate Realities, Dinosaurs, Dino-Hunters, and Southern Comfort drinking mutant Crocodiles you are in for a treat with this book. This was a fun read and had me laughing and cringing throughout the whole story. Croctus Reptilius, Sawtooth, a teenage girl Giselle, and MI6 scientist Holbourne make quite the team with everything going on around them. T.A. Uner made a zombie story not so creepy and added a bit of humor to it. He did an exceptional job keeping me in the story straight from the beginning.

This book was awesome! I loved the constant twists and turns throughout the book. Each character had a very unique backstory and I enjoyed learning about each character. Though I did like the characters I felt like I couldn't connect to them. I'm a total sucker for a zombie book and combine that with vampires, dinosaurs, and time travel and I was hooked. If you haven't picked up this series yet you should!

Kill Zombies isn't what I assumed it would be, its a uniquely thought out plot and characters. The author constructed a well developed well written story, however for me personally it was difficult to take seriously. But for those that favor unrealistic fantasy the fun and adventure are waiting.

The whole time I was reading this book, I was impressed with how well prehistoric and future elements were merged, along with the alternate reality aspect.
I also loved the combination of zombies and vampires; never thought of something like that, but what really captivated me was the vividness of that final battle chapter.
Basically, I think it's a great book.
