Fate of Imperium #1

The Wolf King's Bride

Rate this book
When Kellan, Wolf King of the North, meets his fated mate, she is only a child. He immediately brokers a betrothal and, on the day after her 20th birthday, whisks her away to his castle in the Northland. Kellan is elated, believing he has everything he has ever wanted. His new wife, Nora, doesn’t quite share the same sentiment.

Before Kellan has time to court her, Nora is attacked. An ancient brotherhood refuses to allow an heir of one kingdom onto the throne of another. All four factions in the land of Imperium appear to be involved in a surreptitious struggle for power … while Nora hides a few secrets of her own.

***The Wolf King's Bride is the first book in the Fate of Imperium series. Each book is the story of a different king and his fated mate. While the three books do not have to be read in order, it is highly recommended.

C.A. Worley loves all things fantasy and paranormal, especially when paired with a dose of humor. She's always been an avid reader of the genre and, in recent years, found herself writing it. One might say she's a little obsessed with the concept of fate, which is usually a central theme in her stories.

C.A. currently resides in the Midwest, but was born and raised in the South. She spends her days working from home and her evenings are spent shuttling her kids to and fro. Her dinners are subpar, but she makes a mean dessert.

When she's tired of living her sons' travel sports schedules, C.A. enjoys a glass (or four) of wine. She needs the liquid courage to click the publish button for her fantasy romance novels.

Her motto is, "Be Brave," and she tries to live it every day. It takes a healthy dose of courage to get through this thing we call life.

This was a first read by this Author C.A. Worley, whom usually writes under a different name. I forgot what name (I have a lot on my mind) she usually writes comedy. This was her first time writing none humor. I’d say she definitely has to nitch writing paranormal romance, if she wants it.

This book was very good, I enjoyed it a lot. The sex senes where hot, but what was great is that the story around the sex, really kept my interest throughout. I definitely was in the dark about who done it. It did cross my mind about one of the perpetrators, but wasn’t sure.

I don’t know what happened to the young wolf being kept in the dungeon. I’ve had a lot on my mind like I mentioned, so I might have forgotten. I like everything nice and tidy when a book ends. There where a few other things that where brought up in the book that didn’t get answered. Like if they had any children if you read the book you’ll know why , you might want to know this.

Some of my questions might be answered in one of the next books, but it does say the books can be read alone, and out of order. Even though reading them out of order isn’t recommended, so that leads me to believe the next two books are about just the next two sisters.

Boy it’d sure be nice to have real wolf shifters, they have the most awesome unconditional love, with total and complete focus on their mates protection. Their also hot as hell. Of course this is if you’re there fated mate.

Well, I’m off to read book two. I hope to find out some answers kinda left open in book one. Either way it was a great book and look forward to book two, hopefully being just as good. It’s about the Vampire and I believe the oldest sister. I LOVE, ME SOME VAMPIRES lol.

Arc Book Review
Release Date-10/9/18

I have never read anything by this particular before but as this sounded so intriguing on paper I decided to take a chance and have a stab at it.
I am always a trifle nervous when trying on a new writer for size what with the whole will we be a fit and am I going to like this; especially when I also have to also write a review at the end of my experience.
I am extremely happy to report that I loved "The Wolf Kings Bride" like a whole lot and I will definitely be sticking around to read the next instalment in this fascinating new fantasy series.
So, this is a stand-alone love story with an extremely heartfelt HEA.
Each book in this series is cleverly interwoven to feature at its centre a different couple but all threads are connected together to form a much larger overall picture.
Here in this first instalment, we are introduced to this exciting new paranormal fantasy world and we get to learn about the separate powerful factions that together make up the lands of Imperium.
Elementals, Wolves, Demons and vampires.
In "The Wolf Kings Bride" the story itself centres on Kellan Wolf King Of The North and his fated mate Nora; the daughter to Edward king of the Elementals.
Almost instantly here I was invested in the larger picture.
Fabulous centre characters combined with romance, intrigue and action make this such an incredibly easy read to lose and immerse yourself in.
This story played out against such a rich creative backdrop assisting in the overall ambience almost transporting me away to a whole new dimension.
This in itself really helped to set the scene so splendidly here.
This has so much to offer in terms of content and I was so invested here that I managed to read this book in one complete sitting.
I adored Kellan; if I'm honest he was my favourite, he had just the right amount of adorability crossed with his Alpha tendencies and I was hooked line and sinker on his brash bashfulness.
Nora for the most part I liked; she did have some slight annoyances to her nature that bugged me at times but I overlooked this slightly as I really did devour everything else about this story.
She eventually did see the light and overcome this so all was good in the end.
I also really liked where we left things here and can't wait to see what direction this series will take us next.
I believe next up we have Nora's sister Eden and the Heartless King (King of the vampires) I really can't wait.
This one gets a wholehearted seal of approval from moi, Ive been reading a lot of dark stories lately and it made such a delicious change to just kick back and feel the love for once and this is one tale that delivers on that softer emotion in spades but while still also managing to fulfil fully on all else.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of "The Wolf King's Bride (Fate of Imperium, #1)" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Why yes, in the world of the paranormal, there CAN be something new, something fresh and something spellbinding! C.A. Worley’s THE WOLF KING’S BRIDE is a fabulous foundation to a new series and further proof that werewolf tales will never get old!

Kellan had come to take his betrothed, but she is not his true mate, her younger sister. But Nora is also a child, feisty, tomboyish and clueless as to the new deal that has been struck. On her twentieth birthday, the honorable king has returned to take his bride home only to find she isn’t quite so enamored of their pairing and having no problem voicing her opinions.

In a land where power is everything, a war is brewing and Nora is taken to prevent Kellan from holding two kingdoms is his grasp. What no one understands, what Nora has kept hidden will prove as invaluable as the feelings she feels stirring for the man she would call husband.

Welcome to the land of Imperium, where paranormal creatures and magical powers abound as C.A. Worley sheds a shining new light on paranormal romance with strong characters, hidden powers and the ageless battles between good and evil!

What a delight it is to find wolves with heart, the power to take, but the wisdom to ask for what they want! (Oh, and the strength to protect what is theirs, too!) Kellan was-well, civilized, definitely alpha but cavemanish! And Nora? LOVED her as a child, loved her as an adult, talk about a strong-willed female! Moments of humor, suspense, romance and danger are hallmarks of C.A. Worley’s first foray into the paranormal world and I can only see a stellar future for this fresh look at her amazing world!

***The Wolf King's Bride is the first book in the Fate of Imperium Series. Each book is the story of a different king and his fated mate. While the three books do not have to be read in order, it is highly recommended***

I will give, there are definitely plot holes and inconsistencies and not enough closure in terms of the overall plot and of course, it could have been much better but

I loved Nora and Kellan and just the overall writing and the fated mates thing. I'm sure you can tell I'm a huge sucker for "the one" plot tracks.

This is a very well written story. Well developed characters and backstory. I loved Kellan the Wolf King of the North and his Fated Mate Leonora/Nora. When King Kellan arrives at the court of King Edward the Elemental king of the Gwydion's to marry King Edwards daughter Eden. Who is not his Fated Mate. B sheut would bind the two kingdoms together and created peace. He hears the voice of his Fated Mate a young girl the youngest daughter of King Edward Leonora/Nora. She is only 14. I loved the way King Edward understood that Kellan had no choice but to not wed the eldest daughter Eden. Eden understood too, That she was Not His Fated Mate. King's Edward and Kellan realize that Nora is too young to marry. Kellan agrees to wait until she turns 20 to claim her as his bride. During the years apart Kellan sends Nora beautiful gifts and personally written note. This is so romantic. Finally the day comes when he can go and get her and marry her. He brings her back to his Wolf Kingdom in the North. The new Queen Nora and the King Kellan have a very sensuous relationship through out the entire story. It is believed that Nora did not inherited the genes of an Elemental's like her father, mother and sisters the Gwydion's. Elementals have the power to control the elements like wind, rain, the trees and the earth.

Someone wants Nora dead. They want to break the alliance that has been forged by the marriage of King Kellan and Queen Nora. I figured out one of the villains right away but the other was a bit of surprise.

The Fate of Imperium series features 4 paranormal species. Elementals, Wolf Shifters, Vampires and Demons they all control a section of the world of Imperium.

The Wolf King's Bride is a very good beginning to a series. I can't wait for bk.2. I Highly Recommend this story!

I really needed a no fuss good book I could really get into. I just finished reading hyped books with writing styles I struggled to like (I read just the Vicious and the Deborah Harkness Series) . This one I didn't have to think about. It's not a polished read but the world she built was seamless. This was such a welcome escape. C.A. Worley has a lot of potential. Her love scenes in this one was totally sweet. Though the plot seemly very straight forward and predictable, it has hidden layers and details to it that make it interesting. It feels awesome to discover a new fav author to follow. I look forward to more.

Dnf’d. Parts were quite compelling, but there were huge chunks of exposition, POV would change between paragraphs (narrator seeing into different peoples thoughts so much it got confusing). Also, the romantic conflict comes from characters willfully keeping dumb secrets and “being interrupted just as they are about the share said secret” multiple times. Also a weird bit about attitudes toward sex/virgins that just felt like too many of thise bad bodice rippers from the 1980’s.

Worley's writing was all over the place. There was no focus.

A good example is when Kellan slips into bed behind the beautiful sleeping Nora. He discovers she’s naked. HOORAH! He makes his move. Nice and slow. Slides right up against her. Gently touches her. Nora sleepily turns towards him. Oh, yea buddy. And then……..

5 paragraphs of Nora explaining her evening to this point and reason for getting into bed naked. 5 paragraphs! And now I'm not in the mood at all.

This is how the whole book goes. Everything has to be explained, and in random topics. There is no storytelling. No feeling like you are part of the story.

Such a good read. Good amounts of action, sexiness, and push and pull in the romance. I loved getting to know about both kingdoms and the threats they faced. Kellan and Nora both had their moments where I wanted to slap them for their choices, but at the end of the day, they were perfect for each other. They just had to come to that conclusion on their own as well. While I was reading, I was hoping to hear more about her sisters, so I was thrilled when I got to the end and realized the next book is about one of them. Can't wait to read it.

A very slow start. The authors writing was a bit difficult to follow, there were a lot moments where I wasn't sure which character was speaking. A lot of things were over explained and made it difficult to be fully gripped by this story and it's characters.

The idea and promise, the characters, some chemistry was there, it just wasn't well executed.

An easy, quick, entertaining read. I liked the story and the romance, although the love interest was kind of unhinged sometimes. Also, why does the author change perspectives in the middle of a scene?

I loved this book. First I didn’t know what to expect from this book, but the story was well written and the characters developed throughout the story.

Nora is a fierce MC with her own opinions, and is not easily overrun by her Alpha mate Kellan. The story is intriguing and I just finished the book in one Night.

I can’t wait to read the Vampire King and see how the story of her sister will continue.

A must read for everyone who loves alpha males, wolves, magic and a strong female MC

The Wolf King's Bride is the first in a fantasy series, where each story focuses on a different sister. In this installment, the story focuses on the youngest of three sisters in the magical land of Imperium.

When the wolf king finds his mate he is elated beyond measure, but he must wait until she is of age before he can whisk her away. Once Nora becomes of age, she is finally able to be with her betrothed and start a new chapter in her life. But when it comes to Nora, not all is as it seems. Kellen has hope that his kingdom's troubles will begin to heal now that he has been reunited with his mate. Unfortunately, the real trouble has just begun...

This was an interesting take on a shifter story. The two protagonists come from different kingdoms, an idea which not everyone is fond of. Questions arise of who should be entrusted to be leader of a nation, and how much power is too much?

While this is largely a fantasy tale, these questions are ones that can be applied to modern day as well. Other themes include fate, honesty, and having a strong-willed female protagonist. Not to mention there were a few hot and sexy scenes ^_-

I very much enjoyed this story.

3 1/2 Stars!!! This was an entertaining quick read. I’m still on my fantasy kick and this book helped a little to scratch my itch. I’m a huge sucker for the whole fated/true mate story line, so that by itself got me to read this book! I loved Kellan and his love and devotion to Nora from the very first moment that he meet her and realized Nora was his true mate. He never wavered in his affection, even when Nora didn’t always return it. I do wish the author would have done a better job in balancing inner monologues and actual dialogue between Kellan and Nora. I felt like there was just way too much internal thoughts and not nearly enough dialogue between them. I also felt like there were some holes and questions that she left unanswered that bugged me. I also felt like the book didn’t have a true ending. It felt like their story would continue in the next book, but the next book is Eden’s. All in all it kept me entertained, so that’s a positive.

This is a fantastic start to a series, these characters are great and heartwarming. The world that C.A. Worley spun with her word is beautiful, creative, magical and full of danger and pain as much as love and wonder. This story is funny and full of miscommunication between these two newlywed royals as well as a dangerous threat looming in the background. The action and mystery throughout made for a page turner and the romance and steamy interludes were equally intriguing. I could not put this book down and very much look forward to reading the rest of this series.

This book was rather interesting. The beginning was a tad bit confusing because I didn't understand what was the purpose of the book starting off with Elora's story if the book was not about her, but getting more into the book I sort of got it. The more I read, the harder it was to stop reading. It sort of became addicting. I was able to enjoy the book even more as the story went on. Kellan and Nora really did grow on me as a couple. I think once you move on from the beginning, it gets a lot better.
I really enjoyed reading this and am now wanting to read Eden's and Evelyn's stories.

An interesting story.
The author has created a new world, with its own cultures and customs.
There is a mate connection.
Dual POV within each chapter.
The Hero does not get involved with any other women after meeting the heroine though there are many years between initial meeting and their marriage.
Ex drama, but no details of their encounter.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Breadcrumbs dropped for future books.
Each book deals with a couple and their HEA but there seems to be a main enemy storyline thread that runs through the series.
We have details of the next subject for the next book by the last chapter.

3.5. Read in one sitting and it’s lovely and pretty sweet since there is no unhappy feelings from both MC’s regarding their marriage. Reminded me of Radiance which I loved. Still it was very short and felt rushed but I plan to read the next in the series even though I have to shell out real money for it since it’s not KU. That means it was a hit.

Wow. This book is the first of the series. I can honestly say that I can not wait for the second book to come out as well as the third.

I felt like I was being sucked into this book right with the main characters. I love how this book ties with most paranormal creatures, vampires, deamons, and werewolves.

An enjoying paranormal read

I love that the plot/story is in itself a standalone. It is a series but with different stories interconnected through the "heroine's" relations. Quite a different take for this story because instead of the eldest first, the youngest heroine started the series and not only that, other characters like vampires and demons were interjected. It is quite fast paced, not much to my liking, but is okay though. The overall premise intrigued me and I would definitely root for the second book in the series, because I want to know what happens next.

I loved reading this! A fantasy shrouded in secrets and prophecies that had me enthralled from the beginning. I love where the story is headed (I know Eden, Evelyn and Lenora are the heroines of this series)and as this first book sets the stage for the first pairing of fated mates. The Wolf King Kellan and his true mate Nora.

I found myself feeling the sarrow and pain and crying with them, as well as the love an joy and laughter of Kellan and Nora...
