When the world bets against them, will the torrid foursome stand together or fall apart?
Now that Emma Harris has fully embraced her relationships with Cole, Shane, and Nicholas, things are looking up. She's ready to finish college and embark on a new adventure with her incredible boyfriends.
But when the outside world interferes, her best-laid plans start to crumble. Will Emma be able to hold on to the ones she loves, or will she be forced to let them go?
*The Risking It series is a reverse harem trilogy and includes adult content.
Autumn is a lifelong bookworm with a penchant for sarcasm. She loves cloudy days, fluffy dogs, and murdering succulents. When she isn't bringing daydreams to life on the page, she can be found behind the lens of a digital camera or binge-watching Veronica Mars.
This was such a perfect conclusion to this series. I have found myself pleasantly surprised while reading these books as RH is typically not my cup of tea. The way these characters are written, and their relationship unfolds kept my attention from the very first book. Defying the Odds is probably my fave in the series. Read them all!
Book 1,2 were great but i had trouble with book 3's ending it felt rushed like a quick wrap up and nic.... Dear Lord he got off too easy for all the angst the Ps's had to go through. What i liked about this series was it was more realistic with all the thinking and how worried Emma was until she let her self fall in Love for the guys.i did enjoy the series but it feels like the closer we got to the ending it felt rushed . But thank you Ms. Autumn read for another reverse harem series I enjoyed especially when I figured out thanks to Jessica that there I'm the same universe with the stardust series makes me hope I can follow up with both Emma and Haley in the future

Emma has never been this happy. Once she put her fears, insecurities, and doubts aside and embraced her relationships with Cole, Shane, and Nicholas life has never been better. She's about to graduate, her story is almost complete, she has multiple job offers and three incredible men. Other than her mother's reaction to her dating status, life is perfect and she wonders now why she ever hesitated to go after what she wanted. But soon enough the outside world interferes and decisions are made that may end the torrid foursome forever. Emma goes from her most difficult decision being whose bed to sleep in on any given night to possibly losing one or even all of her men. How could things turn so quickly? Can she be with any of the men if she's not with all of them and not destroy their friendship? Will it even work if they aren't all together? Can their love be salvaged?
Defying the Odds is the conclusion to Autumn Reed's contemporary RH series, Risking It. Wow, Wow, Wow! I was absolutely consumed. Truly, I did not put it down once I opened it. I spent hours upset, cussing a certain character (and his creator), and worried sick over fictional characters! I may need to seek help. I went from having a warm, fuzzy happy feeling, giddy over Emma's happiness to gutted, tearing up, and nearly screaming in frustration and anger. Ms. Reed controlled my emotions for hours. Thank goodness for moments of lightness brought by Simone and Xavier, family moments provided by Ted, Shane's father and Emma's brother and dad, sexy moments and comforting ones given by two of Emma's men, the P's (Provocative Pair). These moments helped me keep it together and distracted me from wanting to physically attack my former favorite of the Triple Triple Threats. I'm not sure whose heart he broke more, Emma's or mine!
The story played out in the only way it possibly could. I have mixed feelings still. I understand Emma's decisions. They would not have been the same as my own. The ultimate outcome yes, the way it played out, NO! I wasn't totally satisfied. I needed more conversation, more explanation, more remorse, regret, and redemption. In my mind, this was too much of a mess to brush aside regardless of the timing. Damage had been done and I needed more time seeing work done to repair hurt feelings, recover trust; not just to Emma but to the best friends wronged as well. So yes, I understand why Emma forgave and embraced her third again so quickly but I really wanted more. However, the epilogue more than made up for any complaints I may have had about the ending. Absolutely, the best bet ever! Perfection. Now I know we have come to the end of the trilogy but I'm not ready to say goodbye forever. So what do you think? Maybe an election day novella? Halloween would be fantastic knowing how several of the characters already have a few costumes on hand. I'm not picky and I am willing to beg for a return to my favorite Vegas foursome one day in the future.
Defying the Odds finds Emma and her guys happy, living their lives while she finishes school. Things are looking up for her, until the rug is pulled out from underneath her. Things are said, decisions are made. It could go from being a foursome to a threesome, or maybe to just one.
Defying the Odds is the last book of the Risking It Trilogy and all I can say is well done Autumn!! I had such a good time with Emma and the T's. I was completely happy with the ending, which left me book satisfied. That being said there was a few bumps along the way. Emma, Cole, Shane and Nicholas have had to face all kinds of obstacles in their growing relationships. I swear I went from happy, to sad, mad, irritated, to happy again. All I know is that Autumn can tell a story that will have you invested in the characters. I am sad that this story is closing, but it left off on a perfect ending. Would love to see the group back in short story somewhere.
Overall, the Risking It Trilogy is a good example of Contemporary Rh. With just the right amount of angst, sexy time, laughs, great characters with lots of chemistry and a good ending.
Absolutely loved this series by Autumn Reed, I am kicking myself for not picking it up sooner. I really enjoyed the dynamic in this group and some of the real-life issues they had to get through to have their Happily Ever After. I will say book 3 wasn't my favorite of the trilogy, probably because my favorite character needed to get his act in gear/veer off the destructive (emotional) path he was on, in terms of the happiness and future growth of Emma and her men. I won't give much away, but my emotions were all over the place in this one, loved seeing Emma graduate and the development with her brother and Dad and the guys. I wanted to shake her mom so badly, but karma will get her back tenfold at some point. I will say my heart was very happy with how the author ended this fabulous, lighter RH contemporary romance and I totally didnt want it to end!
I am sad to see this series end, maybe one day we could get an epilogue or maybe a certain best friend can get her own story (or one of the others we have met along the way). I did love the little cameo/crossover/mentions with one of Autumn's other series, made me smiling and making me want to do a reread of Stardust ❤️
A nice wrap up to this pleasant contemporary reverse harem series. As I said in my reviews of the first two, this series is WAY tamer than my usual tastes across the board, but as usual the writing/editing from this author is clean with just a couple of errors, and the low drama and even-keel story with a relatively short length is a nice break from my typical dark, heavy and/or long books. This third book has some brief sex scenes but they are tepid on my scale, the kind of I read in junior high, very respectful. I agree with some other reviewers that the heroine forgave one of the heroes too quickly, but it's because I personally find the angst and pain of a long grovelling period interesting. In reality, the forgiveness fit into the overall tone and pace of the series (and the justification of it being small stuff relative to what else was going on helped too). I'd be interested in seeing their lives as a fully formed and living together "torrid foursome" (with more of the torrid for personal reasons lol) but this does have a sweet, happy ending. 3.5 ⭐️
I sincerely adored this last book in the Risking It Series!!! Emma finally accepted all three of her guys as part of her new family. The ending was so sweet and everything I could’ve asked for in such a romantic series. I’m so happy she stays with the Ts forever, even if she lost her mother, she gained such an amazing new family that loves and supports her! It took a while for Nic to come through completely, but I never had any doubts about him coming back and begging for Emma’s forgiveness. They went through so many ups and downs that when they finally got together forever, it was just perfect. I really hope to see more from the characters of this series soon, maybe even a Simone novella or a glimpse back into Jessica’s life!!! I’ll miss these characters so much! It’s so bittersweet to see the end of this series, but it was a perfect ending! I really loved and enjoyed this book and series so much, and I definitely recommend it to all romance RH readers!!

Autumn really had fun with this one. OK, maybe not ALL fun, but she really brought out the laughs, cries and all the in betweens. I absolutely love Xavier and Tad. Of course Jessica needs her own story. Awesome crossover! I do hate that Emma's just couldn't get on board, but that may be more real than we think despite much of today's forward thinking. I can't help but wonder if there may be a spinoff coming, but only of the voices in Autumn's head get loud enough to make her do it. I am looking forward to see what she has in store for us next.
I always hate the end of a series. I shy away from standalones for a reason, I don't like when they end. This series is no exception. This book threw readers on heck of a curve ball. I was very worried about the relationships in this book. Would it survive the removal of one of guys? I was seriously afraid for most of the book. Thankfully we ended with a HEA so that I wasn't completely devastated and ends feeling complete with all ends tied up nicely. That being said, I'm throughly looking forward to other works by this author.
What a fantastic ending to this trilogy! I was quite reluctant to read this book but I’m so glad I did.
The pace of the book picked up and the conflict was realistic. I was forever saying to myself things like *you go girl!* *dont back down now Em* *shove it!* so I know if it’s getting reactions like this you got me!!
I do feel Em let Shane off the hook a little too easily but I guess when you’re in love like she is with the torrid foursome anything is possible.
An FYI, I knew Jason was garbage when Shane first met him and this book backs up that theory.
This could have been so much better. There should have been more of guys POV especially Bic’s. You get one chapter of his POV and that’s it.
Also there was not enough sex between them in this book or book 2. She took Nick back to fast and easy. I wanted the HEA but he didn’t have to work for it.
The end was just okay the epilogue should have went Into the future not just stopped in Greece.
Ok so in all seriousness for a minute, Autumn I was very upset and frustrated for part of this book, and had you not fixed it, we would be having a completely different conversation right now. Don't worry, I still love you and your writing is perfection! Just venting some book anxiety lol. Ok now as usual you story telling is stellar and that Epilogue was perfect, just the ending I really needed!! Definitely will be recommending this series as much as possible!
I love RH books, but haven’t really gotten too much into contemporary RH. But this series.....OH MY GLOB!!!! Emma and the Ts were adorable, and everything she does is ridiculous. I found myself laughing at some of the shenanigans and wanting to punch someone in particular myself. But through it all, it was an amazing story that I loved from the first page.
I loved this series but I’m with others on the whole letting Nic treat her like a doormat. Please, authors quit portraying women as so weak that they hop right into bed with a guy that pushed them to the side for months. I wasn’t even upset with her for forgiving him, it was her pushing off the guys who had been by her side for months to literally jump him seconds after he showed back up.
That it ended! I want more. I want Simone to find her Ts. I want to see more with their relationship. I want to see their future together with having babies... please! If you can't tell I enjoyed the series. If you like RH and not knowing if there will be a HEA ending till the last few pages... read the series.
Cute ending to the series. I will say when I got to 80% and a certain someone was not back in the pic yet that I knew this was not going to have the groveling that I prefer (read: none) but sweet nonetheless.
I will say overall this is exactly what I was looking for in an RH contemporary. Low angst, hot sweet men, conflict but not anything unforgivable (cheating).
The last book in the risking it series starts right where book 2 leaves off. The ups and downs are like a rollercoaster but it’s worth it in the end. Read this book
I’m never disappointed in this author’s work! What a great journey we have taken with this series. The characters are well written and the storyline creates such a real journey for the reader. This series is well worth the read!
Wonderful series! I’m so grateful to see someone but time into editing! You don’t see that anymore! Loved this book and this series. Can’t wait for the next series!!
Wonderful. Loved the trilogy. Really enjoyed the characters and their personalities. The plot really grabbed me and wouldn’t let go. Really love the twist the author puts in - had me crying.
This one made me very emotional! Definitely felt heart broken. That being said for this book to bring such raw emotions proves just how wonderful it is. Emma has been through a whirlwind journey and I’m happy she is such a strong character and made it through the storm.
I really enjoyed this series. Couldn't believe how cold Emma's mother was about her guys. Missing graduation, then blaming Emma for her fathers heart. So glad Emma has the capacity to love her guys.
Oh boy. What a rollercoaster of emotions! This book was filled with all the feels, good and bad! There was a lot of tension and character development! I loved this series though and I am so sad it’s over but it was an amazing ride and that ending was perfect!
I love the story and all the trials they've gone through and they stay together but sabotage! Darn and I nearly wanted to throw my kindle but just kept reading. I nearly never get emotional over a book but boy did I now. Autumn does not disappoint in this book. You'll love it for sure.
