I know it’s set in the Viking days but I’m too much of a romantic to like the idea that H will never be faithful oh and the fact that h slept with his brother (not that I held that too much against her considering H slept with her stepdaughter and continued sleeping with ow even after he fell in love with h) every man in the book thought it ok to sleep with ow even if they are married because apparently they can separate desire from love as evidenced by H’s brother who was the jarl and loved his pregnant wife but slept with all the thralls, sometimes even when she wasn’t too far away so she could have seen it! My romantic heart cannot accept cheating so I couldn’t enjoy this book.

Again I have to say I can't bring myself to shelf this as a romance. In all honesty I don't feel any chemistry or connection between the h and H. It doesn't help that only the heroine's POV is given and the monologues are endless. There's also an extensive separation because the hero has to take off on a mission.
The only reason the series is still holding my interest is because I like the cultural aspect of the story. It reminds me a lot of the Vikings series from the History channel. It's not fluffy and romantic...it's primal.
Not for the faint of heart. It's a historically accurate love story, when life was brutal. They had different social mores than we do now. Don't read this expecting flowers and sickly sweet heros. I don't understand why some people read a story like this, knowing full well they're not going to like, then leave a rotten review and one star. If they have that much time to waste they need to look into volunteering or something that will add positivity to the world. It makes a person suspect their motivations and wonder if Goodreads is even relevant. There are enough reviews to let people know what they are going to be reading. It's well written, angsty and historically accurate. KU
No rating (it wouldn't be fair) Skim reading it, online. The ads are annoying af. Found it as 'Viking Warriors, Vol. 1-3' I'm already on vol. 3
SPOILERS AHEAD
The writing style through me off at first, but I got used it. The writing isn't my favorite but I stuck around for the plot...and because I don't know why I do the things I do sometimes. There are themes here I don't even like! Normally, I would have dropped this like a hot potato. The H/h have sex with other people throughout the story. In his case, blame it on the setting of the story. These dudes have to have side pieces. In her case, she didn't always have a choice. These are raping and pillaging times, y'all. Makes me think of this classic movie moment. However, she did consent to have sex with the H's brother. She wanted it, because she thought the H had abandoned her...and she was horny? (spoiler alert: he hadn't abandoned her). Then, H comes back and they get married, but don't live happily ever after just yet. Cue in revenge plot twist. In vol. 3, (how did I get this far? 🤡) she gets captured by H's enemy and he rapes her. Anyway, I think he's going to fall in love with her, and she might catch feelings for him, too. I don't know how it ends...I might finish it. 🤡
OW drama is fun 😂 The things I get myself into for an ounce of angst. I'm weak.
What a brilliant follow up to Viking Thunder. Emmanuelle has written a great saga of the Viking days. This book follows Elswyth as she follows Eirik to his Viking home. Her love is enriched by his presence. Complications arise. Faline is jealous of Elswyth. The Jarl - Eirik’s Brother wants more than his wife and Faline. He wants all. Elswyth uses her powers as a healer to help the village but all becomes extremely complicated. Ostara is a powerful night in the Viking calendar. A night of pagan ritual. Elswyth will feel the pull of the old gods. She will discover much more about herself and her desire! The Jarl will feel the full extent of his power unleashed and shooting. Also complicated by the power of erotic description that Emmanuelle is so good at. A powerful page turner. Great read Five shooting Viking stars!.
Elswyth leaves Northumbria and her grandmother behind to follow Eirik who is the brother of Svolvaen chief. Even though she is not eagerly accepted by most of the people, she learns their traditions, their gods, and their way of life. It is a brutal life filled with hardship, disease, death, and the violent impulses of the chief. However, their life is also filled with love and honor which is displayed in the raw and primitive love that blooms between Elswyth and Eirik. Book 1, Viking Thunder, left me wanting to know more, and Viking Wolf did not disappoint. This story was full of all things emotional, plenty of heat, and hope for the future. It was a beautiful story.
A scorching page turner with gritty realism and rich Historical background. Loved this engaging story by Emmanuelle de Maupassaunt. Be sure to read the prequel short story, Viking Wolf!

Ancient Norway, The Time of Viking🐺 Raids on the shores of the British Isles.
This is the continuing story of Elswyth💃💋, the young half Viking widow woman stolen from NorthUmbria, Scotland, by The Viking warrior, Eirik🐺🍆🌋🔪, to be his woman. Her elderly husband, the village chieftain, is killed by Eirik🐺🍆🌋🔪, and his grown daughter, Faline, is also brought along to Norway as a free woman.
Back in Norway, Eirik🐺🍆🌋🔪 and his older brother, Gunnolf👹🍆🌋🔪, the Jarl, live in opposite ends of their great house. That's pretty much the way their lives are, too.
Gunnolf👹🍆🌋🔪 is the Viking Wolf, a huge, dark, hairy, beast of a man. He is a brooder, he's unforgiving and quick to anger. He's an Alpha male🐺 and he cheats on his wife. He's a choker👐, a binder, he's a spanker👋 and he uses a belt, too. He is a man driven by power and dark thoughts.
Gunnolf👹🍆🌋🔪 thinks Eirik wants to be Jarl, and that his own karls, are also against him. The people say behind his back that Eirik🐺🍆🌋🔪 would be a better Jarl.
The book deals with Viking superstition about sickness and death, as well as True 💘love, Deception, Betrayal, and Jealousy. Faline turns out to be a continuous source of much of the trouble, and she is sneaky and vindictive.
ARC Received via Booksprout. I also got The book📑 with KU.
Great book! This is a XXX Alpha Male🐺🍆🌋👋🔪 Romance and there is Cheating! Do not read if cheating situations bother you! This was ancient Norway, and the people were not Christians, and Christian values do not apply. There is a happy ending!
Wow! What a wonderfully written, captivating, steamy, and action packed story of Vikings and the legendary Northmen. Who doesn't like a good Viking read? This is a historical romance that brings as much rich detail as erotic bedroom nights. Love Eirik but Elswyth really shines as a heroine who knows her mind and heart and is both brave and flawed.
Continuing after the end of Viking Thunder, Viking Wolf is a fantastic journey where we follow Elswyth and Eirik in their blossoming love affair and daily life among Viking Jarls, superstition, a clan steeped in history, and erotic romance. It's one WILD RIDE but absolutely brilliant from start to finish. It's obvious the author did her homework because the book is believable and realistic to the time. Really loved that aspect.
There's a hell of a lot of character development, background, story, and romance in a short novella but its done exceptionally well. Don't worry there's NOTHING disappointing about it. My high expectations of Viking conquerors, action, steamy romance, and the harsh but fantastical Viking life were met and exceeded. Two thumbs way up!!! A MUST READ.
Characters: 5/5 Plot: 5/5 Word Building: 5/5 Story Flow: 5/5
Emmanuelle de Maupassant has spent a lot of time and work into creating the world that this book is set in, and it is very obvious. You get a real feel for the Vikings, which is really nice. The way that she writes it, all in first person and all from Elswyth's POV makes it really feel like you are really in the book and that you are experiencing everything that Elswyth is going through, which makes it feel like a really personal book.
Elswyth has left Northumberland with Eirik to his home as his woman. Unfortunately, Faline has decided to go with them, and she's nothing but trouble. When they reach his home, they are introduced to his brother Gunnolf, the Jarl, and his wife, the Lady Asta, who Elswyth and Faline go on to serve.
I think that this book is really about the journey to find acceptance and a place where you belong. Elswyth has never felt like she's belonged anywhere, and she's always wanted something more, so she's trying to find acceptance and her place. It's a truly lovely story, very well written and there's something very compelling about it.
I have not read many Viking books so I am venturing out a little. The story of an alpha who “has lain with many women and will lay with many more” (paraphrased and yeah, like we believe that whole line) according to him is really a huge softie at heart when the right woman comes along. There are invasions, deceit, prejudices and revenge all throughout the story. A fascinating read that kept me reading straight through. This is book two in the series and you do not have to read book one (short story) but it does not hurt to have more Viking naughtiness.
Arriving in Svolvaen Elswyth soon settles into a new way of life & is happy with Eirik but jealousies abound & Elswyth finds herself caught in the middle. I read this immediately after the prologue ‘Viking Thunder’ & I read it in a sitting. I don’t usually love books written in the first person but this worked extremely well. I really liked Elswyth who whilst a strong woman knew when to submit. I liked Eirik & enjoyed their love story but then circumstances intervened. I also loved the mystery & intrigue which made this a page turner

This is the sequel to Viking Thunder and it's more than I expected.
With Emmanuelle de Maupassant, every book is a delight. I can vividly imagine the Vikings and my point of reference is that of the series aptly titled, "Vikings".
Sometimes it seems like it's a second person point of view even though it's clearly written as the first. However, the persona narrates her day in a way that she describes the happenings and situations around her. The couplings were hot, some dark, and others forbidden. There's tragedy, victory, and that sense of foreboding that something's gonna go wrong.
When it comes to Vikings, I have this image that it's not that sunny over there but the atmosphere is tinged with suspicion and gloom. I still enjoyed it though. Only lust was involved with the arrangement of Eirik and Elswyth; it seems fleeting since she was captured from her homeland and brought to Svolvaen as his woman, without any promise of marriage. As their feelings for each other deepened as time passed by, Elswyth seems at a loss but also resigned to the eventuality that they'll separate since Eirik would need to marry out of duty.
There were unsavory characters of course but that's what makes the story interesting - the conflict. Eirik and Elswyth have some battles to face and the only spoiler I'm gonna give is that this one has an HEA, despite all that has happened.
This book picks up exactly where "Viking Thunder" left off. The battle over, many on both sides have died. Sails are repaired and wounds tended. Only those leaving Northumbria did so voluntarily, no one made a slaveSince Elswyth was the product of a previous invasion from the Norseman and the cruel chieftain she was married to killed, had much to decide. Her decision had been selfish, borne from her want of adventure and to start something new, her knowledge of kinship with these warriors, and her desire for Eirik, brother of the Svolvaen chief. Faline, the Northumbria chief's daughter and Elswithy's step daughter, had also shared Eirik's bed and so, she too, had left with these warriors. Although Eirik had possession of both women, Faline appeared to have a deep jealousy and resentment towards Elswyth. As life dictated a harsh and brutal life in reality for Vikings, so does Emmanuelle de Maupassant give us a tale of this life tinged with a love so true it can grow and prosper within this story. There's a beautiful savagery to this story that will give you an emotional response to the characters and a HEA at the end to fill your heart. Absolutely a wonderful story with promises from the author for more to come.
This book was gripping from start to finish , it starts with Eirik bringing Elswyth to his home where his brothers word is law , although married he covets Elswyth from their first meeting or it could be he wants whatever his brother has , the admiration & respect of his fellow warriors , family & friends . while this book is full of Norse ways of life ,it mainly revolves around jealousy , Faline will do anything to ruin Elswyths life , Gunnolf instead of being happy with being head of his village , a beautiful wife & child on the way just wants to destroy his brother even though Eirik has been nothing but loyal & Elswyth is her own downfall , always carrying the insecurities from the life she choose to leave behind she almost ruins the future she could have . This book is gripping & opens up the souls of the characters leaving both the good & bad for all to pick through .It's not essential to read the prequel to this book, Viking Thunder, but it gives you a better understanding of why some people are the way they are .
This story was an interesting mix of Viking culture, featuring pagan worship rituals, spiritual beliefs but also included the everyday social components such as jarldom hierarchy and its associated pressures, as well as how healers are treated with discrimination, prejudice and fear, often scapegoated for one reason or another. There are a lot of rampant and passionate emotions which lends to a really vibrant telling of what Elswyth goes through while she waits for her love to return for her, even though he may become wedded to another. As a man whom no one can see committing solely to a single woman, Elyswyth may have to take what she can get with his looming marriage required as duty for the sake of his people. She is surrounded by the smallest number of friends and many more would-be enemies. It is not a time to give up - she must hang on somehow until Eirik’s return, especially when she is cast out and has to endure her struggles until that time.
This is the second instalment of the Viking Warrior series, Viking Thunder being the first. Viking Wolf carries on where Viking Thunder left off and opens towards the end of the crossing by boat from England to Erik's homeland. Elswyth and Faline took the decision to leave their village where both had bad memories and nothing to stay for, and joined the Vikings on their ship home.
Elswyth meets Erik's brother and feels a shiver of danger, not wanting to be left alone with him. On Erik's home turf, Elswyth feels that she is looked down on and not to be trusted by his kin folk. She slowly makes friendships when sickness sweeps the village but is mistrusted by some. There is plenty of Viking folklore, lust and eroticism to keep the reader entertained, with the story moving at a good pace and a touch of fantasy giving a very satisfactory ending.
As with each of Emmanuelle's books, this is very well written and edited and I look forward to the next in this action-packed Viking series.
Holy Hot. If you like Vikings. If you like your Vikings incredibly sexy and rugged. If you like your Vikings incredibly sexy, rugged, and with bedroom gifts that are hotter than boiling ... read this book.
I've been reading erotica since I was of legal age to buy it. Emmanuelle de Maupassant is one of my favorites for writing historicals that are volcanic. I'd already established a long time ago that this author knew exactly what buttons to push to make a book appeal to even the finest of connoisseurs of erotica. These Viking books of hers just bring it on home for me. This is the kind of book you blush when you read - not because you're embarrassed but because it is raising your body temp.
So, be brave, wear light clothing, keep your significant other (or BOB)handy cause these books are steaming! I highly recommend any of her Viking books, but you could start on this one and work your way up. :-) This is a series, so to speak, and each of these books are just as hot as the next!
Emmanuelle de Maupassant has a talent for weaving relatable tales that transport the reader into the characters' times. I related to Elswyth's character as she struggled to find her place in Svolvaen. The sexual tension is palpable and realistic. Maupassant develops her characters while leaving an air of mystery in the narrative which kept me turning the pages. I appreciated the foreshadowing and symbolism. Although I know very little about Viking history and language, Maupassant provides succinct explanations and a glossary which makes the story seem authentic. There is a love triangle, adventure, suspense, complexity, moral conflict and many steamy encounters. I enjoy this writer's somewhat noir approach to historical romance.

This book is about Elswyth's struggle to find her place being from 2 worlds but not fitting in either. This book starts out with her leaving the home she knew all her life and going to live with the Northmen with the man she has come to love. Once there she continued to struggle for her own place and fearing to lose Eirik. It's a bit strange for me to read a romance with so much cheating however it seemed to work in this book and for these characters. I think I would have enjoyed this book better if there were multiple points of view but the author still made it work. I don't normally enjoy first person stories however I can say that listening to a book written in first person is much better than reading it myself so again it worked out. The narrator did an ok job very easy to listen to.
This is the second book following Elswyth and viking Eirik. Eirik had raided Elswyths village and took her back to his home. She was not welcomed by all. The chieftain \jarl instructed Elswyth to be maid to his pregnant wife. He also desired Elswyth but she loves Eirik and he has told her that he will not share her. A sickness strikes the village and Elswyth does all she can to help heal but tragedy strikes and she is blamed. This story has it all, hot alpha vikings, steamy romance and intrigue. I can't wait for the third book. Although this is the second book each story can be read as a standalone but you have a better understanding if you read them in order.

Wow I loved this book. It follows the story of Elswyth and Eirik as they travel home to his brothers longhouse to make their lives together. There is love, sex, jealousy, intrigue, betrayal and absolute heartache all wrapped up in this superbly written follow up book in this Viking series. Will they both have their happy ever after god I hope so!! It’s a five from me!!

❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋💋 Eirik and Elswyth continue their life ,love and adventures, coping through deceit ,trials, pain and desertion , in this brilliant book . It’s strange to hear me say how much I enjoyed this book , it’s written in first person which normally I don’t like , but this really fits well . It’s so life like and had me totally engrossed, spellbound almost . I loved every page . More please .
Wow!! This book really embraced the viking history. It was a little dark, but so very good. Whenever there are Vikings all sorts of things are game and this book gave the reader all of it. Definitely not for the faint of heart. A must read for fans of Vikings. Once I started I had to finish, I just had to know what was going to happen next. Awesome book.
Compelling, a great follow up to Viking Thunder ,Very emotional read, it takes you from all the highs, lows and all the in between relationships and trials of Eirik and Elswyth I don’t want to give away any spoilers.Wonderful history of the early Viking. Lifestyle, beliefs and marriage of the time period . Superb writing. I highly recommend Emmanuelle De Maupassant’s books
Elswyth and Eirik's story has a lot of twists and turns, betrayals and suspense. This book picks up where Viking Thunder left off and even though it doesn't end on a cliff hanger, it makes you want to know the rest of the story. Looking forward to that.
Emmanuelle de Maupassant does not disappoint! Viking Wolf was a great follow up to Viking Thunder. I love these two and their path to HEA is full of beauty and ugly, fire and ice, give and take.
Definitely a brutal world, that of the Vikings. So many mysteries and the stories of the Gods cannot explain them all. After reading the first book I couldn’t help wanting, no needing, to read this one too. And it did not dissappoint, maybe even better than the first one!
