A Kings of Guardian and Heart's Desire Crossover Novella
When Cole, Mr. FBI, and Logan, local cop and reigning Ice Princess, hook up to solve a case of Mississippi corruption at the highest judicial levels, sparks fly. Their attraction is hotter than the sultry southern sun. She wants to hate him—but she can’t. And Cole would never commit career suicide by staying in a backwater Mississippi town…not for any woman…especially not for Isabella Logan Church.
USA Today and Amazon Bestselling Author, Kris Michaels is the alter ego of a happily married wife and mother. She writes romance, usually with characters from military and law enforcement backgrounds.
Kris was born and raised in South Dakota. She graduated many years ago from a high school class consisting of 13 students (yes that is thirteen, eleven girls and two boys...lucky boys). She joined the military, met her husband, and traveled the world. Today she lives on the Gulf Coast and writes full time.
Kris is an avid people watcher and dreamer. The stories she writes are crafted around the hopes and dreams of a true romantic. She believes love is essential, people are beautiful, and everyone deserves a happy ending.
When she isn't writing Kris enjoys a full life revolving around family, friends, laughing, whiskey, and cold red wine. (Yes cold...don't judge.)
Logan and Cole are hot and explosive, the chemistry between them drips from the page, but Logan struggles to trust and Cole is ripped away, his hands tied. Are they destined to be a footnote to an undercover op? Not whilst Cole still has breath in his body, his Bella holds his heart and he will always return, always fight for their love. This is a perfect addition to the Kings of Guardian series and ties in beautifully with the cartel op, it does help with understanding Agent Cole Davis and I highly recommend reading it alongside the series, after book two, so the puzzle pieces easily slot into place, adding to the Guardian picture. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Loved everything about this Novella. Kris Michaels writes amazing Protective Alpha males and suspense. Loved Cole and Logan’s book! Hope to read more of them in the future.
I borrowed A Backwater Blessing ~ Kings of Guardian ~ Book 2.5, by Kris Michaels from the Kindle Unlimited Program.
Isabella Logan Church, a deputy sheriff in Mississippi had an informant that gave her to a lead that two judges, clerks of court and a social worker were placing underage homeless girls in a group home that used the girls for prostitution and drugs were also distributed. Logan's Grandpa contacted an old friend an FBI Director and he sent FBI Agent Cole Davis undercover to Mississippi. He posed as Logan's boyfriend, which lead to a relationship.
In a great addition to the Kings of Guardian Series, the thumb drive from Joseph is tied into A Backwater Blessing to finish telling how important the thumb drive is in the series.
Cole and Logan were summoned to DC to a meeting with FBI, DEA, CIA and Homeland Security, lead by Gardian Security and Cole was ordered to stay in DC to work on the task force and Logan went home to Mississippi right after they became romantically involved. The task force arrested over four hundred crminals in one day throughout the United States and Internationally destroying the Moralas International Drug and Human Trafficing ring.
Logan's Grandpa and his long time friend worked together to get Cole back to Logan in a perfect and unlikely romantic happy ending.
Loved getting the litter side of Jospeh’s and embers story. Where the investigative action was going on around the laundry list of crimes related to the morales cartel. Plus this gives the back story of info behind the thumb drive ember is given and on the run with. Loved Logan/Bella and Cole. Great chemistry and both kick ass. Loved how although it was a cover they never seemed to have lack of feeling behind their ‘act’. Loved when he defended her and her ice princess ways. And after learning why she was the way she was. She ad every right to Protect herself. I do have to say their angsty split if you call it that has some loop holes. She just bailed. Didn’t let him say anything. And then he was consumed with the case. As a fellow LEO she should have known how busy he would have been. But he should have also just stepped out to make a quick call making her know that she mattered to him. But I do get him wanting to have that conversation in person after all they had been through. Loved the end. Hope they get another book. Especially after you learn that he is promoted in jasmines book and is slated to go to DC. I’m assuming with Logan.
Two Strong Wills fight corruption and attraction. Will love find away?
It never ceases to amaze me how this author can create another storyline within a story. Cole is sent to Mississippi to investigate corruption and is partnered with Logan. Logan is a strong willed woman that does her job well and takes nothing from no one. Cole is looking to make a name for himself to better his position in the agency. They are supposed to be a couple in love working on the same force as his cover. Cole and Logan are attracted to each other and during the investigation they fight it. At the higher levels in Washington DC the Guardians become involved as information is passed to them on a flash drive (Joseph’s story)...the outcome is inevitable with the case but with Cole and Logan, they need help. Kris Michaels is a truly gifted writer to be able to get things straight on the storyline. Great read! I look forward to more stories from Kris!"
Backwater Blessing is Book #2.5 (novella) in the Kings of Guardian series by Kris Michaels. It is a perfect mix of action, romance, and family drama that was so easy to get hooked on. Each book spotlights a different member of the King ‘family’ - the elite operatives working for Guardian Security - so you get a fresh story every time, but with plenty of familiar faces popping in along the way. The plots are fast-moving, with everything from high-risk rescues to international missions, but what really makes the series stand out is the loyalty, teasing banter, and the intense, heartfelt romances which gives all the action so much more depth. If you like romantic suspense, military romance, or strong law enforcement vibes, intriguing characters, and a sense of found family, then this series is definitely worth diving into. It’s exciting, emotional, and just the right amount of addictive. Happy Reading…
No plot spoilers No potential triggers There are no grammatical or editorial errors that I can recall There are a couple of sex scenes and some swearing I adore the Guardian series and am quite fond of the Hearts Desire series too, but I could only give three stars for this book because although the characterisation is excellent the plotline is an addition to Joseph's book and for me it just wasn't engaging enough to make me want to turn the pages. It is, nevertheless, well written, just too slow for me. If you are looking for a series with strong leads and often powerful storylines I can wholeheartedly recommend the Guardian series, guaranteed romance with a twist of thriller and military in civilian life.
Cole and Logan (Bella) are in a forced fake relationship to take down some high-ranking officials in a multitude of different crimes. They are told to stop their investigation and report to DC the next day for a briefing where Cole is pulled into a new taskforce and Logan is sent back home. Not being able to talk to her before she left, he never told her how he felt and she assumes he just used her for the case. Will he ever get a chance to go back to try to make things right? Will Logan still be in Mississippi or does she leave because she is so heartbroken?
Blackwater Blessing is an action-packed read by Kris Michaels. FBI Agent Cole Davis travels to Mississippi to work undercover. Logan is Cole's main contact and she's the local cop that knows the most about the investigation, so they'll act like a couple while working the case. Their story has plenty of drama, humor, sexy bits, action and suspense to keep readers glued to this book. A Blackwater Blessing is book 2.5 of the Kings of Guardian Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
I read a print copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Ok, this was an interesting story. We didn't hear about Guardian until close to the end. Logan was hurt and guarded herself from getting hurt again. Cole is the guy who find gets Logan to drop her defense and show her vulnerability only to be pulled from his assignment and from her. Four months go by before they are pushed together again by her grandfather and his boss. I am happy these two finally confessed their love for each other and started working on their happily ever. FANTASTIC job Kris! I would recommend this book.
A short novella sandwiched in between books 2 and 3. It very lightly touches on book 2 - the story, not the characters at all. Blessing was simply too short to establish much of anything about the characters. Lots of possible plot lines brought up and just as quickly dropped. Insta-love of course in a 100 page story, but really not believable. And I really did not like Cole or Logan much... sort of a fatal flaw. I really like the series so far - this short is an outlier that is not in the same category as the rest of the canon (I hope).
Cute story with two non Guardian characters. Cole is mentioned in a few of the Guardian books, but as a passing character, not a main. Here he is the main with an officer Logan. Their chemistry is immediate and they work well together to solve an interesting case. Logan is a strong woman and she is on par with some of favorite females in this series! It does take time during one of the Guardian stories and includes some great snarky moments, loving moments and family moments.
Cole Davis. FBI. Plans to be Director someday. His new mission is in Mississippi. Small town. Logan Church. Deputy. She has all the investigation on a major case. They are each others cover story. Logan is cold and guarding her heart. Cole learns quick. Then they begin to fall for each other. Things go out of control quickly. Both afraid to admit feelings. Great short story. Loved it.
I really enjoyed this novella. Cole and Logan has such great chemistry and I liked their banter. I like how strong she is but he is still there for her and brings out the softer side of her. Too bad it’s a novella. I would’ve liked to read more about them. The plot isn’t too involved but enough to keep me interested and not wanting to put the book down. I recommend this easy read that still gives the feels for this great couple.
What can I say about this book? Ummm ... I know! I loved every minute of this book! FBI agent Cole Davis and deputy sheriff Logan “Bella” Church are working together to get to the bottom of some corrupt judges and other officials. The sparks fly from the moment these two set eyes in each other! Another great read from the fabulous Kris Michaels!
This story is not a part of the Kings of Guardian family.
Cole is sent to the deep south as an under cover operative, assigned to the Louisiana police department. His cover is that he's in a relationship with the chiefs granddaughter Logan. But when they meet sparks fly. This Novella has a gentler story, but it still keeps you reading.
Love this author. An automatic download for me as I have not once been disappointed! The characters are so life like it is like the novel is playing out in front of you, it’s so easy to ‘see’ what is happening, to feel the sultry heat on your face, to breathe in the humid air whilst watching the plot play out. Brilliant. 5 stars.
Conspiracies, alphas and sassy women. Perfect combination
This was a quick read but every bit as tasty as all the previous guardian books. The author has built a great world within the guardian series, a world where family and brotherhood is everything. Nobody messes with the Kings or those they call family.
Even though this storyline is under Guardian it is more about two different people who are brought together by a series of events that will eventually come under the Guardian storyline. These two will find that happiness together. And fighting against the bad guys together isn't all bad.
Rapidly rising FBI star, agent Cole Davis wasn’t keen to work a case in Mississippi but agreed as a favor to his high-ranking mentor. Deputy Isabella ‘Logan’ Church could use help putting together a corruption case at the federal level. Deep in the heart of good ole boy country, the only way get Cole in and build the case safely is for Cole to play house with Logan. Rating: 4.25stars
This book just felt rushed and incomplete. When Cole and Logan first meet he's barely said anything and she's totally obnoxious. Later his boss changes his assignment he's not given a choice but she blames him and once again is a total bitch. There was very little to like about this woman.
FBI Special Agent Cole Davis is sent undercover to Mississippi to work with a Sheriff and Deputy about suspicious activity with drugs and prostitution. Cole and Logan have a rocky start but strong feelings happen. They are separated when he is put on the task force to take down the Morales cartel. Months later they are finally back together.
Great book, I wish it were longer. I'd like to see how Cole and Logan worked everything out. I feel as tho I read a novel for all the information that was in the book. Thank you Kris Michaels for another great book!!
Another great book by Kris Michaels. I just love the way she writes. The way they fall in love. Such gentlemanly man and smoking hot women. Makes your heart go pitter pat. Love it.
I’ve enjoyed all of the Guardian books and this entry is not exception. Technically a parallel novella, this entry has all of the hallmarks: intriguing storyline and well rounded characters. I hope to see more of them. Recommended.
Bella AKA Logan and Cole, instant chemistry, southern pride, Corruption from the tadpoles to the top dog, undercover investigation leads to romance and love on land and on sea, hoping for more of these two, thank you, Dana
Kris hooked us good with this one. I was so caught up in it that I forgot it was a novella. I kept trying to anticipate what was coming next and then it was done! I love the Guardian world and all its characters!
This whole series has been one of my favorites. The author is amazing. The stories and the people in them are one of the very best I have ever read. I suggest reading them in order to get a feel for the characters. Recommend this highly.
