A human female. A ruthless alien. A dangerous beast she awakens inside of him.
His name is Ar’Van. He is the best hunter money can buy. Tall, dangerous, non-human – and the last of his kind.
When a new assignment brings him to Earth, he doesn’t expect much resistance. The women he is supposed to deliver to the warlord of the Qua’Hathri are easy targets. He could outwit the earth men that protect them, with his eyes closed.
But every plan can go wrong.
Not because he is careless. He just hadn’t expected his worst enemy and best accomplice to feel drawn to one of them. Inside of him lives a powerful beast.
Until now, he has been able to keep it in check.
But in the presence of that female human, his dark side starts to show itself. The monster wants to own her—as does he. When a murderer starts his bloody work in the confines of his spaceship, Ar’Van has only one choice: He must save her life.
At any cost.
Even if it means letting the beast come to light.
Dark. Powerful. Sexy. This will be a ride you won't want to miss.
* * * A SciFi Alien Alpha Romance. The Beast is the Prequel of the Betania Breed Series. * * * Warning: Intended for mature audiences. Full-lenght Novel. Standalone. No Cliffhanger. Lenght: 200 pages
Sometimes I still shake my head at myself! Me and sci-fi?
“Never,” I would have said, just a few years ago! I am much too caught up in the here and now for that. When I think about how big the universe is, and how small we all seem in comparison, I feel nothing but awe. In my writing, my passion goes to the creatures who live at the edge of our world. Aliens, werewolves, panther shifters, vampires - all of them fascinate me. That’s why I try, with the help of my keyboard, to breathe a life into them.
Jenny does it again. The Beast is a welcoming addition to her Betania Series. Although it is a prequel to a new side and set of characters it does go with the Betania. And yes you can read all of them as a stand alone.
This is a good book. I enjoyed the characters and the emotional impact. Mia is a great female lead. :) I am excited to see what is next.
This was a sexy, action packed, thriller. Mia & Ar’Van were both great characters. Mia started out timid and frightened but ended up being strong and fierce, and Ar'Van and his hunter were dark and sexy. Great story I enjoyed immensely. loved the little twist there for Mia. I just wish we had a little more character building some more info on our characters backgrounds.
This is, not only my first book by Jenny Foster, but also my first sci-fi romance in a few months. I have read other romance books, or eve sci-fi books, but not like this one and I'm so glad I'm back to this Romantic genre of hotty Aliens and steamy romances.
Like you can read from the blurb, this is the prequel of Jenny's Betania Breed Series, and I haven't read it yet, but you can totally read it as a standalone, at least I didn't have any problems with is. It actually made me curious about the series and excited to go read the other books.
Jenny Foster takes the classic abduction of Earth women that sometimes can get over done, and puts her own twist to it and gives the storyline a good substance that kept me intrigued from page 1 until the very end.
Since the book has a good amount of pages, it made me happy with the page. It had action, romance (and very steamy scenes), mystery and the all alpha-male kind of vibe that is always fun in this kind of book.
I also found interesting the use of 1st person POV in Mia's chapters, and the 3rd person POV in Ar'Van's chapters. That was different. Still not sure if that's a characteristic of every book that Jenny has written, but I will find out. Nevertheless, I didn't dislike it, I just thought it was different, maybe good, maybe bad, depending of the reader. Personally, I liked it, although I would have loved it even more if there were more dialogue, but still it was pretty good.
About the story in particular... Since I haven't read the other books in this series, I can't comment as a hole package. What I can say is that I can see how this prequel is a great start for anyone that can reads the story. We learn some facts about the world, about Earth and the new social rules and hierarchy in a way. And from the blurbs of the other books I have some ideas about the other books, and how those humans may have gotten in the situation they are in.
Mia was fierce and curious, I loved that about her. Ar'Van is very intriguing to me, since the very beginning I wonder about the Beast and about his species, because the blurb let me wondering. I loved the descriptions and how the set the book, and Mia and Ar'Van were amazing characters and I loved their interactions. At some points/scenes they made me laugh, at others I could see the hotness. And I like the balance of the emotions that it made me feel.
I always love reading Alien books because I love to see the author's vision of how alien species could be like, and every book can be very different and that is always fun. Jenny's Alien characters were refreshing and fun to read about, maybe because I haven't read a book about Alien romance in a while, anyway, the descriptions of the Aliens were great.
Do I recommend this book? If you like sci-fi romances with big Aliens, sure, go for it! [Thank you Jenny for the eCopy in exchange for my honest review.]
DNF - only made it to 15% before giving up. Read this on KindleUnlimited. The writing style is stiff & unnatural, with way too much inner dialogue for the main characters. The world building up to the 15% was barely there. The characters are not inspiring enough to keep me reading or to care what happens. I have no guilt for quitting this book.
2⭐️ Honestly this book could have been a regular degular kidnapping “dark” romance. The alien’s powers were not displayed much just alluded to. The “hunter” showing up meant literally nothing. “The beast” at some point had “come out” and I never noticed. i was like “wait? Huh? He did? When?!” Beyond his ability to read her mind by reading her body he was basically just a regular ass dude who was a manipulative slaver. Space was barely mentioned at all, for all I knew they were in a warehouse. He’d insisted on needing to “wake the hunter” to find the killer of one of the women. This was untrue. All the women are sedated, but Mia, and have no choice but to answer questions with honesty if they are asked. He could have said, “which of these males killed that woman?” Simple. Also, the author is trying to paint this man as somewhat redeemable but he’s still a slaver by his own free will and seems kinda proud of it. Trigger warning for self-harm. This complaint might just be petty, but calling his penis his “manhood” was dumb everytime I heard it. You’re an alien sir, not a man. Therefore you don’t have a manhood, you have a penis. I’ll even accept cxck and dxck. But for all the talk about his manhood, there is no actual sex in this book. The whole Hunter x Huntswoman dynamic didn’t make as much sense as I wanted it to. He is called a hunter so logically she should be called a huntress. If he was called a huntsman it would make sense she would be called huntswoman. Then, the idea that Mia was infected by a siren but the mmc was born from a siren. So is one infected with sirenism or born with it? Furthermore, why does this internal being have so many damned names? Siren, Beast, Hunters? And then how did Siren get into Mia? Don’t worry, we get NO answers to these questions. We also get no more mention of the fact that this man and his ship homies were willing to abduct and enslave women. Mia was just FINE with it. At least the writing was okay. I’m gonna read book 2 and if it sucks, thats yet another alien series that gets the boot.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
So, when I pick up one of these speculative/monster/fantasy/etc romances, I'm going to expect a level of campiness. I expect that I'll need a certain degree of go-with-it-ness, more so than other, more "sophisticated" stories. However, I still expect a certain degree of quality in writing that I'm not seeing here. If this had been her first book written in the series (she wrote books 1-4 first and wrote this prequel after), I would be more forgiving. But what I'm seeing as far as writing quality and story structure is far too amateurish for me to deal with. For example: 1- the female MC has a sexy dream before meeting the male MC, and when she does meet him, he is recognizable as being from her dream. Particularly his eyes. This is silly, and something you might see in a mediocre YA paranormal from the early 2000s. 2- Something (some kind of drug, I presume) is administered to 4 women (including our female MC), and it affects the other three women but not our female MC in some kind of mindcontrol-y way. This is silly, and also more likely found in a mediocre YA paranormal from the early 2000s. What I'm saying is that in general writing has evolved past those tropes and now they are, or can be, indicative of a puerile, unimaginative, poor writing quality. I'm not trying to be mean, but those things really turned me off to the story and there are SO MANY of these books out there - SO MANY authors writing speculative romance right now that I just dont have the time or inclination to continue a book that I'm not jiving with. Especially on a technical writing quality/style level.
Ar'van is one of the best hunters in the galaxy. A real mercenary. He and his men were charged with abducting human women to breed. The client was none other than the mighty Khazaar, warlord of the Qua'Hathri.
Ar'van is successful in his attempt, being able to take 4 women, but one of them catches his attention. As soon as he's near her, he can smell her. she was in her fertile period, and it attracts him greatly. Because he took more than one, his client would not need to know that one of them would be for himself.
Mia Bishop is a human who lives in a period of a strange Earth. After a virus had made most of the women sterile, she was part of a select group that still had ovular benefits. In fact, she had been ovulating since she was 16, and from that time on she was taken to a laboratory every month to have her egg removed, inseminated and placed in the womb of another woman to develop. That's what it was like 8 years ago!
When she is abducted, along with 3 other women, she was exactly in her fertile period. Unlike the other women, who were between fainting or crying in fear, Mia took action to try to free them, even though they were already in a spaceship away from Earth.
The confusion created by Mia causes Ar'van to redouble his attention on her, and that strong and manly man, as she had never seen before, calls her attention for being more than her captor.
However, keeping Mia to himself may be more difficult than Ar'van has predicted, and a war may be needed for the couple to have the HEA.

The plot in and of itself was good. Overall, good story idea. Execution of it, however, could use a lot of work. This story needed another go with an editor and a proofreader. There were some grammatical and punctuation mistakes, some issues with formatting, and problems with sentence structure. More importantly, however, is that there are also a lot of holes in the plot and the structure of the novel. One that really bothered me was the lack of good dialogue. Heck, it was the lack of dialogue, period, much less good dialogue that bothered me. Too much internal monologuing and narration. It needed to be broken up. I know this is a prequel, and that the first and second in the series had already been written, but if it’s going to be standalone, then make it a cohesive standalone. Bring more of the world building into this novel, because other than mention of some sort of virus and an alien race at war with humans, not much was revealed, and that resulted in a lot of confusion for me. Finally, I know the author was trying to build up suspense with the subplot of the killer, and it’s a great idea, but that aspect of the story needed a lot of work! More explanation of the Syren race, and the other races that formed the crew, is needed to make it seem even plausible. Even in suspending what I know about biology and the concept of a parasitic race, I had difficulty comprehending the author’s descriptions and suppositions. These weren’t even explanations, it felt more like speculations. Not to say that speculation couldn’t work, it just needed to be written better in order to work.
Anyway, in conclusion, not a bad story but it needed a lot more editing, more dialogue, and more scene setting.
This series by Jenny is absolutely full of great stories and each story brings you another alien and woman that takes them on a journey! This story is about Ar’Van who is on a paid mission to take a couple of human women from Earth to Qua’Hathri to see if they are compatible to mate with their men. Ar'Van is the last of his species and it’s his secret so the one who lives in him stays hidden and comes out only when needed. Mia is a human women with no special powers and does the right thing each month by donating her eggs to help reproduce the slowing dying human race. Ar’Van is very talented in his abilities to do what he is hired to do and finds himself sneaking into the medical center and taking 4 human women right under the noses of the humans without them knowing. Once Ar’Van has the woman on his ship he drugs them so they can not put up a fight. After some time Mia is up and wondering the halls and after she finds herself in some trouble does Ar’Van come to rescue her from his men and takes her to his private quarters. Mia’s goal is to find a way for her and the other woman to escape back to earth and not be taken to a unknown place. Ar’Van makes a deal with Mia and this takes them on a journey neither thought possible. Will this deal that benefits Ar’Van get him his payoff or will he find more than just a job? There is a twist with some deaths and learning that the facts about humans and aliens do not add up. Will Mia find herself in a position to be more than what she has been, a boring human woman? I loved all the characters and their journey! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Earth has been in a war with an alien species for a hundred years. To increase the human population, earth now takes eggs from the earth females to do artificial insemination upon and to have the babies carried by other females and the babies raised in a home supposedly full of love and caring. Mia is called to the clinic to test to whether her eggs are ready to be taken. She goes to the port and the light is given that she;s ready. She boards the craft and notices the soldiers and starts to feel something isn;t right. Then she gets to the clinic and sees the Dr and again thinks something is wrong and quickly turns around to run only to be caught and then she feels a sharp prick in her arm. She comes to on board another ship and notices the earth in the background. When the three other women waken there is something wrong with them. She leaves the room to go find an escape route. She makes it to the kitchen and starts to eat what she sees. Then she grabs the wrong thing and makes a loud noise and suddenly there are male aliens surrounding her. Then the leader Ar"Van arrives to rescue her. When alone, he gives her the task of convincing him to let her go before the buyers for her and the other women arrives. Life gets extremely interesting! Cute story and a fantastic story and read!!

Mia Bishop has an alright life on earth after the Sethari race invaded earth and let loose a virus that made majority of the women infertile but those that where not affected donated there eggs every monthly to rebuild the population of earth. Mia a three other women where taken to a clinic for stimulation and harvest of there eggs but they where intercepted by aliens and kidnaped to be sold to the Qua’Hathri or to the warlord Khazaar for breeding. Ar’Van had done his job but there was something about one of the women that made his heart race and his pants tight when ever he was around her, his inner Hunter became obsessed with her as well so this is a first that they agree on something. Ar’Van is a Syren but no one must know for he will be killed because there are deadly and very skilled and he is the last of his kind. All hell breaks loose on the ship when one of the women is killed and to find the answers he must send the rest back to earth before he can let his hunter out so what happens now that they are back on earth. Omg I’m giving away to much of the story, read this great book I recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an arc copy of this book for an honest review.

Another Winner from Ms. Foster....I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I love this series and always look forward to seeing the next segment. Ms. Foster has created a terrific world and truly unique characters. I thought I was in love with a character named Johar, a cyborg from a previous book, but Ar'Van is running a close second or maybe edging out a little. This book had a little more humor from the female lead, Mia, than the previous books. She was interesting in that she was just coming into her own since her abduction by the aliens led by Ar'Van. She discovers that the people on Earth that she thought were for the people really weren't. They were only serving themselves and their greed, keeping the general population under tight control or in places like insane asylums where she found herself after being released back to Earth after a murder on Ar'Van's ship....but you will have to journey to outer space to find out what happens to Mia and Ar'Van, meet another side of Khazaar and see if a human and Syren are fated for each other.
I have enjoyed every book in this series. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy. Sc-Fi. Romance. & Mystery interwoven with a great storyline. This author has the ability to capture your attention from page one until the last word on the last page. I easily slipped into the world built for this story. I Loved the storyline it was full of suspense, clever in perception and expressions also giving you the odd smile amongst the sexual tension that decided how a majority of this story went. I don’t like leaving spoilers, so all I can tell you is the writing and imagination of this author is brilliant. I would love to see inside the mind of someone so creative. There is always a link between some of the characters in every single one of these books. However they can be read as standalone books, the link just adds another layer to the knowledge of characters in the previous books. I hope this series never ends or Jenny Foster starts a similar one, as I don’t want to stop reading about how all these aliens and humans come together and develop, evolve and love
Ar'Van🐺🔪🔫 is a specialized warrior, a Syren, the last of his kind. He is a hunter, the procurer of all things valuable, for those with the money💰 to buy him and his crew. This time he has gone to 🌎Earth to secretly pick up human women for the Qua'Hathri Warlord. Since the invasion of the soul sucking Sethari, fertile women are a precious commodity.
Ar'Van🐺🔪🔫 has more than a dual personality, he has another creature inside of him, the Beast👹, that makes him the greatest hunter in the universe. But it seems his ship picked up another hidden personality at their last stop. A murdering personality, and one able to shift from one body to another.
Ar'Van🐺🔪🔫 picks up four young fertile women, aiming to keep one, Mia💃💋, for his own.

OMG !!!! ALIEN WITH AN INNER BEAST !!!! I LOVED THIS BOOK !!! The main characters are fantastic together and the thrills with the twists that you do not see coming kept me on the edge. I was determined to finish the book by the time I finished chapter one, I could not put it down, I could not walk away from my computer. Ar'Van is a ruthless alien, the last of his kind actually. A tall and dangerous non-human. He is also the best hunter money can buy !! This new assignment is meant to be easy he planned well or so he thought...…. What he did not expect was that his inner beast would be a problem as he has been able to control it up until he sets his sight on one of the human females ……. now it wants her !! There is trouble on board the space craft ….. I have to stop here otherwise I will spoil the story for you and I definitely do not want to do that !!!! So GRAB the book and ENJOY !!!!! I certainly did and I highly recommend you do not hesitate !!

This is my 1st read and review for this author and what a great start in getting to know her stories, and this is the prequel to the Betania Breed series. Ever since earth was attacked by an alien race the government gets women to give their eggs to re populate the earth, it was getting close to Mia’s time to give her eggs but before she could she is kidnaped by an alien. Ar’van is a hunter and the last of his kind he is hired by the Khazaar of the Qua’hathri to kidnap earth women which he had no problem in doing. When he kidnaps Mia and other women Mia stirs the beast inside of him and they both want her, but when there’s a murder on his ship what will Ar’van do will he take the women back to earth or is he able to protect Mia?. This is such a fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read, I loved this story and I know you will too.
I absolutely love this book. The Beast by Jenny Foster is everything you want in a fantastic story. It has action, adventure and an amazing love story. Her characters Ar’Van (Syren/Hunter) is male anyone would want, dominant, protective and loving and Mia (fertile human) is a strong, resillent and loving woman.
Ar’Van has always known that something lived inside of him that was part of him, but also led its own existence and when he finally allows his two halves to merge they are able to save the woman they have both come to love. Together, Ar’Van and Mia are able to overcome all obstacles in their way to find their happy ever after.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. I was sad to have it end I was enjoying it so much. I can not wait to read the next book in this series, Jenny Foster is now one of my new favorite authors.
I have had this book for a while , and finally was able to read it . What a wonderful read . I felt for Mia in her world where humans are at the mercy of strange Aliens who have taken over their world. As a human female , she is supposed to "donate" her eggs every so often until she no longer is able , and to do it with pride . On one of these donation trips , she ends up being abducted along with three other women . AR'VAN is a hybrid make hunter , but he has kept that mostly secret from his crew . He has won a bid for captive human women in order to investigate if they are compatible with mating other species. If he can complexities transaction, it will further his chances for even more opportunities in the future. Little does he know that his future is about to change ! I enjoyed this book and am anxious to read more !!
Mia is just trying to do her civic duty by donating an egg when she's abducted by aliens, slated to be sold to other aliens for the purpose of breeding. Three other women are also abducted, but Mia is the only one who seems to be immune to the drug given to the women to make them compliant.
Ar'Van doesn't care about any of the women, but he's intrigued by Mia and wants to play with her and get her out of his system before giving her up. She's trying to save herself and get back home, so she tries to trick him.
The story is a little clunky, and it's hard to like a hero that has no problem selling women into slavery, drugging them, and playing mind games. But, if you can push that aside and concentrate on his connection to Mia, the world building is interesting, there's some great tension and suspense, and Mia and Ar'Van have instalove with a little extra depth.
I absolutely, love this series. To see Ar'Van and Mia together is amazing. They have a very interesting story that makes you not able to put the story down until you reach the end. They have this chemistry that is off the charts. Ar'Van is strong and protective as he is fierce and an all out alpha male. Mia at times tended to drive me a little nuts just because at times she is too accepting. But boy does she grow into her own skin throughout the story. There are many twists and turns that just keep drawing you further and further into the story. The writing is amazing and the flow of the story is fantastic. This definitely will not disappoint and is for sure worth reading. I voluntarily review and advance reader copy of this book.
TRUTH, LIES AND OH MY!!! Talk about a winner. Yep! You guessed it. Right here. If you're looking for excitement, adventure along with action, you've got it. Jenny doesn't pull any punches and brings this bad boy to life before our eyes. She weaves as world around us until everything else ceases to exist. The characters are well developed and believable. Their personalities play off one another to bring the tale to a close. The scenes are graphic and descriptive and gives the illusion of taking on a life of its own. Twists and turns abound with unexpected surprises along with suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Jenny did an incredible job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Great job Jenny, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

I received this book as an ARC this is however my honest unvarnished opinion. One of the few books I truly hated putting down, read it in just a few days. I found it to be well written, something I appreciate. The story itself may not be entirely new but the unique and fresh characters give it a new viewpoint. The Character of Ar'Van was well developed and while not always lovable still engaging. In the beginning Mia's character was a bit flat but her story to some degree evolved throughout the book. As I read the last page I was satisfied and had really enjoyed myself. I am actually hoping that the author will continue their story.
I loved jenny's new book. It has everything in it kidnapping, murder, mystery, intrigue and love. While on a mission to earth to take human females for a king to find out if they can be bred with Ar'Van never expected his inner beast to wake and claim Mia but that is what happened leaving him helpless to his longing. Mia finds one of the women she was kidnapped with has been murdered. Now Ar'Van has to protect Mia at all costs as well as find the murderer on his ship. Will Ar'Van be able to solve the problem and find the one doing the killing as well as keep his mate safe?

I have loved this series and getting this early insight into the overall series with Ar'Van and Mia's story. I have said so much about this series as a whole and this prequel just fits so perfectly with its impeccable storytelling, world-building and character creation and a plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Ar'Van is an incredible character who you can't help but be fascinated by. Initially you aren't sure whether you should be terrified of him or not and later he just melts you into a big warm puddle with his Alphaness. He and Mia are perfect together but with a murderer on the loose can Ar'Van keep Mia safe and will they be able to find a way to be together?
This was a fascinating story. Ar'Van is a talented man and can "procure" hard to acquire items for a price. This time he is hired to acquire human women for the Qua'Hathri warlord. Mia is one of the subjects and from the beginning she stood out. She sparks Ar'Van's attention and they find a mutual attraction. A murder on board his ship adds a twist that throws all his plans out the window. I love how Mia deals with the danger of the government when they have her and two of the other women taken. Especially with Dr. Barton. I would love a spin-off series with Ar'Van and Mia. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
