Zach struggles in school with dyslexia, a learning disability. When he tries to read, the letters march around the page in a scrambled mess. He makes it through his school days thinking about his dog, Gypsy, a three-month-old black lab. Gypsy is always there for Zach. One day after school he races home to see Gypsy. He discovers the gate is open and Gypsy is gone. He is so upset that he can't think straight, causing him to make some bad choices. The search for the lost puppy takes many twists and turns. This true story is captured in a beautifully illustrated book that proclaims the message - God finds the lost.
I was the oldest of four children. My Father managed F. W. Woolworth stores so we moved every January when he was promoted. We lived in numerous states making me new to school in January and in September. I chose to wear a target on my back that said, I am vulnerable. I was plump, had freckles and my last name was GIGOUX. You cannot believe how many ways that name can be pronounced. Of course, each way became a tease and a smear. Because I felt so badly about myself, I became sensitive to children who struggle with their self image and personal challenges. F. W. Woolworth was the original "5 and dime store". I met my husband at Woolworth when he stopped to pick-up his mother from work. She was the Lunch Fountain Manager. We raised our two children in Denver Colorado. We loved the pretty scenery and out-of-doors activities. I received my degree from Regis University while working as a voice mail engineer for AT&T.
I think this is a great story because it is true and it happened to my family. It is about a boy who feels lost struggling in school with dyslexia. His only friend is his dog. One day after school, the boy discovers the gate open and his dog is gone. He is so upset that he makes some bad choices and loses his father's bike. The search takes many twists and turns. The family doesn't give up the search. They see that through many quirks/coincidences that God is leading them to find all the lost even the boy.
Delightful book with fabulous illustrations that reveals faith in action and action in faith. It reminds readers how tough it is to be a kid, but how great it is to know the Finder of the lost.
