On the eve of a wedding, what to do when the groom mysteriously disappears? When the police and private investigators come up empty, what's a desperate bride to do? Call in the man with no Caverlock Victor Oliver -- the world's only Consulting Philosopher. Will he prove there's no mystery that can withstand the prodigious powers of Applied Philosophy? Will he succeed in reuniting sweet Victorine with her lover? Will a Taoist-quoting bookworm solve the mystery ... and will he be paid? How much do you pay a Consulting Philosopher, anyway? The answers to these questions (and many more you would have never thought to ask) are all found in The Adventures of the Consulting Philosopher.
A fast-paced detective story, smoothly written with lots of colorful detail on exotic places. The story involves the disappearance of the son of wealthy and powerful parents and his possible involvement in a billion dollar international scam involving speculation in wheat. The author has a talent for describing complex financial transactions simply and understandably. The characters are well fleshed-out, the plot is interesting, and the book is an easy, entertaining read. I give it 5 stars.
