Second Chances: A Jules Spenser Novel

Rate this book
She’s brilliant, beautiful, and has an attitude to match. Lithe, yet powerful—Eighteen-year-old Jules Spenser lives in the fast lane—her gait has a matchless step, like a nymph riding the wind. Born with an eidetic mind that spins in ones and zeros, acceleration, velocity, and displacement are the vectors she lives by.Time is the only thing she can't get enough of, and she is fast tracked to PhD’s in Quantum Physics and Information Technology, by her grandfather Buck Axele Davidssen, a retired USMC sniper, and chairman of The Corporation—a partnership of Marines and scientists who fight terror—foreign and domestic. And now, she holds her dream job as a nano-biotechnologist for The Corporation. At the Advanced Nanoscience Research Center on South Padre Island, Texas—The Corporations largest asset, Jules unveils her latest invention—a programmable nano-biomedical chip with endless uses.Planted deep in the medial temporal lobe of the brain, the region known as the Limbic System, the chip will circumvent damaged areas that had become dysfunctional after a stroke or other head injuries by replicating the electronic signals from neighboring neurons. Her presentation stuns the scientific community, and the research centers two largest donors—the Director of Central Intelligence Agency, and his superior, the Director of National Intelligence, both of whom are already dreaming of other uses. But there are other groups who are interested, too. The Dark State wants it for total mind control, and they are coming for it with both barrels loaded. They would also like to touch something special on Jules, Buck and his wife on paper only, Dr. Charlotte Vice-Davidssen, the President of the United States of America—any major artery would do.Trained in assault rifles, hand guns, and hand-to-hand combat from the time she could walk—Jules is on the warpath, and plans on touching back, too.Buckle in for the ride.

Gene Hilgreen

Gene Hilgreen lives in Lindenhurst, NY. He spent thirty plus years in Information Technology and ITGC security audit. As an ex-gymnast and freestyle skier, he lived on the edge with a devil-may-care attitude. And so does his writing.
Gene is never one to hold back his thoughts. As the old adage goes—a drunk man’s words, are a sober man’s thoughts. With that said. He writes his peace.
His editor once asked. “Gene, who might be your intended reading audience?” He replied. “The eighty million plus proud Americans, who voted for freedom and the America way.”

She never asked again—she knows his audience.

He always starts his novels by thanking the two defining forces that have offered to die for him—Jesus Christ and the American soldier. One died for his soul; the other died for his freedom—don’t ever forget that!

His affinity for Physics and Spacetime, and the thought of creating a young female protagonist was always planted somewhere in the Limbic System of his brain. As a long time Cornwell fan—he was enamored with Kate Scarpetta, and when Lucy Farinelli was introduced—he just wanted more. Cornwell thought she created a monster—he begged to differ—he loved Lucy, and wanted his own.
He wanted a character that was intelligent, athletic, packed an attitude, and had enough faults to make her interesting to the YA arena and adults. One look into his granddaughter’s inquiring face sealed the deal. He created Jules Spenser—a prodigy child—who wanted nothing more than to follow in Grandpa Buck’s footsteps.
First of Jules, Second Chances, and Dragon at 1600—the third novel in the Jules Spenser series, are all are available on Amazon.

The Fourth Dimension—Jules’ fourth novel, will push the fringes of science and math. In physics, spacetime is any mathematical model that fuses the three dimensions of space and the one dimension of time into a single four-dimensional continuum. And you will all learn—that time is the only true unit of measure. It gives proof to the existence of matter. Without time, we do not exist.

This book is a must read.

Second Chances starts where First of Jules ends—

Dr. Jules Spenser is brilliant, beautiful, and has the attitude to match. She’s a core member of The Corporation, an organization run by her grandfather, Buck A. Davidssen—a retired Maine sniper—that fights terrorism, foreign and domestic.

As a Neuroscience Physicist and Nanotechnologist at the South Padre Island Advance Nanoscience Research Center, she reveals her latest programmable biomedical nano-chip, and stuns the scientific community.

Planted deep in the medial temporal lobe of the brain it willreplicate electronic signals from neighboring neurons, andcircumvent areas of the brain that became dysfunctional after a stroke or other head injuries.

Others wanted this chip for foul play—

The Alphabet Soup community and the Dark State—a powerful group looking to establish a One World Government. The Dark State has put out a contract for the head of Buck who reports only to God and Old Glory.

Trained in military operations by Grandpa Buck—Jules reports to no one, and Devil be damned—she goes full throttle after the Dark State.

Buckle in for the ride—
