Empty Sky

Rate this book
A repressed and frightened young man still living at home walks out his front door and boards a bus that he desperately hopes will take him to his new life. He takes with him nothing but money stolen from his father and the vague hope of an illicit connection with an older cousin. But his desire for escape from himself only takes him deeper and deeper into a nightmare landscape of ghastly beauty and alluring descent, one which will force him to either at last rise to his own humanity or which will instead consume and destroy him and others entirely.

I was drawn in by the simple case of a young man seeking to find himself by expanding his world beyond his experiences. His choices lead to an epic journey of discovery that includes losing and then finding himself while navigating desperate and desolate settings and situations. The landscapes are bleak and barren and beautifully wild, creating the perfect backdrop for what surely seems like a personal descent into despair and madness. Or could it be a story of redemption, adaptation, and acceptance? This is certainly one of my most favorite books!

Just finished reading Empty Sky. It was unbelievably immersing journey! It's a book that truly resonate with my seeking for complete equating of the new yet somehow familiar expanse of the lonely soul looking for a meaning and a purpose. It says on Amazon that there will be a sequel to Empty Sky! I'm looking forward for this one!
