Aliens are on the attack. First stop—Vulta Station!

Joan Everett, captain of the USS Monolith, receives a distress call from the planet Corla’s primary defense, Vulta Station. Engaging her ship’s jump drive, they attempt to save the station from an attack by the Daliqians, an alien race humanity once defeated. As the Monolith retaliates, the ship takes severe damage, putting the crew at the brink of annihilation. Crippled to the point of no return, Captain Everett is forced into a decision that may jeopardize millions of lives.

She can only hope the price isn’t too steep if it stops the Daliqian invasion.

Drew Avera is a Navy veteran, musician, and the bestselling author of the Dead Planet series and the Alorian Wars.

He was born and raised in rural Mississippi and grew up with a deep affection for comic books and science fiction movies and television shows. At one point he boasted a comic book collection with more than 1,000 issues. His love for comics inspired him to pursue a career as a comic book artist, but an injury to his hand ended that dream permanently.

Still, he was inspired to create in one medium or the other. He picked up a guitar at fifteen years old and began writing songs almost immediately. That “obsession” as his parents called it put him on the path to rock stardom…in his bedroom.

It was when he turned sixteen and bought the novel “What Savage Beast” by Peter David (The Incredible Hulk) that he caught the bug to be a writer. Unfortunately, it would not come to fruition until fourteen years later.

Drew enlisted in the US Navy as an Aviation Electricians Mate at seventeen years old. He served twenty years and deployed on four combat deployments to the Persian Gulf. During those deployments he would spend his free time reading books. He loved reading books in a series and that inspired his journey to becoming a fiction author.

In November 2012, at the age of thirty, Drew began his journey as an author by participating in national Novel Writing Month (NANoWriMo). He published his first book in March of 2013 and the rest, as they say, is history. With more than twenty books published in the space opera, military science fiction, cyberpunk, and dystopian genres, he has built a backlog with something for everyone who enjoys science fiction adventures.

After retiring from the Navy, he began an exciting new career in the simulation field. Drew is now focusing his efforts on building upon what he learned in his first eight years of publishing. He has plans for an all-new space opera and military science fiction series as well as new collaborations with other writers.

The best is yet to come!

The multi-genre genius Drew Avera brings an exciting new proposition to the world of military sci-fi that's sure to make other established authors in the genre sit up and take notice!

Attack on Vulta Station - a review by Rosemary Kenny

With a strong female MC, Attack on Vulta Station gives the eager reader non-stop action from the start as an epic space battle takes place in the first few pages and doesn't ease up at all throughout.
Despite having a serious health issue that she must keep hidden (to avoid premature, enforced retirement), after 30 years veteran Naval Officer Commander Joan Everett, still captains the Fleet's flagship, The Monolith. Yet when the mighty starship is almost fatally damaged during the aforesaid battle, (to defend the eponymous Vulta Station from deadly enemy the Daliqians) fleeing below to the surface of planet Corla, to avoid being slaughtered in revenge for a previous defeat, seems the only viable option.
Can Joan succeed in her mission of salvation, or will her son never see his mother alive again - and what about the humans on Corla?

The story is nice and the writing works well enough. I got interested in the characters almost immediately and the dialogue is normal adult talk. The problem for me was that there was no ending. It was a short story in a novel's body. When I saw no end, I then had to admit that there was no beginning.

I felt as if I came into the middle of a movie. I hope that it's a series because the military scenes and characters were done realistically. I can't judge how scientifically accurate all of it is but it was logical and the story focused on the people not the ships. I would like to find out what the aliens are about and there is a hint that humanity started this war.

The writer has a nice style and with just a little more background, I would have given it 5 stars.

One of my favorite authors has a new Novella out now on Amazon you need to check out!
Drew brings the fire!
This is a nicely written novella depicting all of the elements of a naval engagement in space against an invading enemy. The action is shown from the point of view of various key characters showing the gravity of the situation and how it affects the populace as a whole and the leaders individually. Well written.

Don't really know what to say about this book. It's like part of a story. I didn't find it compelling. I kept wondering if my version was glitched. It was just short and - IMHO - kinda pointless. There are much better things to read out there. Give this a pass.

Interesting short story

This was a quick and easy read, just a few short chapters. But has we have come to expect from Drew a enjoyable read.

Boring

A failure to tease. Confused, incoherent, even for a teaser chapter. The characters act stereotypes of the worst kind. Terrible writing.

This military SF novella was full of action, but the characters kept getting killed off so that it was hard to get into the story. Good read.
