August 4, 2018i just... i just need this more than anything in the world because i have no words for how much i love rebel of the sands and i know this is an exclusive that was only released at the launch party for hero at the fall and it's not possible for me to have it but please if anyone somehow sees this and has a copy they're willing to part with i'll pay good money for it.

This is a short story collection from the Rebel of the Sands universe. I got this from the Hero at the Fall Launch event in London on 25th January 2018. I would recommend reading Hero At The Fall before reading this collection of short stories.
The Girl From The Sea – 5/5 Stars
This is a short story of Lien – Jin’s mother. Her backstory, up until the events that led her to escape the Harem with Jin, Delila, and Ahmed. You get to meet Nadira, Ahmed’s and Delila’s mother too. I really liked this story. I could easily have read a whole book on this story alone. I like the fact that you got a sense of the bond that the mothers had. I love all the sisterhood’s that Alwyn Hamilton writes. This story gave me goosebumps, and I sped through it. I think this is the first story that I’ve read that I didn’t want to stop.
The Stolen Cargo – 4/5 Stars
This is the short story of Ahmed, and Jin before the events of Rebel Of The Sands. It is at the time when they are working on a ship to pay for Lien, and Delila’s food. This story was good. It was slow at the start, but then it picked up within a few pages and I sped read it. This story introduces probably my favourite character in this collection of short stories of Fen. I really liked her. I kind of wish that she was a part of the Rebel trilogy, because she was a badass. This story is probably the catalyst of Ahmed for him wanting to return to Miraji.
The Tale Of The Hero Attalah & Princess Hawa – 4/5 Stars
This is the story of the hero Attalah, and the Princess Hawa. It’s mentioned a few times in the Rebel trilogy, but only in passing. It was nice to read the story as a whole, especially with the connection to Hero At The Fall. It was told in a storyteller-like format, which I really liked. I could easily read a collection of short stories from the olden times of the Rebel universe. I find them to be really interesting, and tragic, like the Ancient Greek stories.
The Djinn And The Runaway – 5/5 Stars
This is the story of Zahia, Amani’s mother and her meeting Bahadur, and her life. I really liked this story because we got to see how Zahia and Bahadur met, and how he was like with her. He almost seemed human. I kind wish there was a story of a Djinn who fell in love with a human, and couldn’t bear to leave them for the rest of the human’s mortal life. I really liked Zahia, and Bahadur in this story. The only sad thing is that you know that this story had a tragic ending.
Overall, I really liked this collection. I hope that we get some more short stories in the future. There's plenty of stories that could be told.

Tales from Sand & Sea is a collection of a few short stories. I received it at the book launch of Hero at the Fall, and even though it is not necessary to have read Hero at the Fall, I would recommend so.
The stories are enchanting, Alwyn’s ability to create wonderful fairytale like stories is something I really admire. Furthermore, it was lovely to get a little bit more insight in some of the legends, and lives of both Jin and Amani’s mothers background stories.
Rated with 4 out of 5 stars. Super short, but very enjoyable.

This was so great to read.
It gave a heap of insight to backstory for characters and the world itself, and even though I read it after the trilogy, if i'de read it after book one, I probably wouldn't have appreciated it nearly as much.
I think my favourite was Jin and Ahmed's mother's story and the one with Amani's parents – they were just, really heartbreaking and touching and intriguing and I loved it.

Nie lubię zbiorów opowiadań, a jeszcze bardziej nie lubię tych dołączanych do serii, bo zazwyczaj kompletnie nie trafiają w moje gusta i przy ich czytaniu zwyczajnie się męczę. Dlatego tym większe było moje zdziwienie, kiedy nie dość, że świetnie się bawiłam przy słuchaniu "Opowieści z piasku i morza", to na dodatek ich koniec zupełnie mnie zaskoczył!
Trochę żałuję, że nie ogarnęłam tego tomiku od razu po skończeniu Duchów Rebelii gdzieś w lutym, bo zapewne odbiór byłby zupełnie inny. Zapewne spodobałyby mi się nawet bardziej. .Ale nie zmienia to faktu, że to po prostu bardzo miły i przyjemny powrót do postaci, które ostatecznie bardzo polubiłam, choć zdecydowanie chwilę mi to zajęło.
Najważniejsze jest to, że to nie są opowiadania o niczym, ani też nie powielają tego, co już zdążyliśmy poznać w oryginalnej trylogii. Rozwijają historię bohaterów, przekazują nam tło ich opowieści i pozwalają poznać, co działo się, zanim pojawili się w historii i lepiej zrozumieć ich motywację.
Jeśli nie polubiliście oryginalnej historii to tak naprawdę nie macie po co stykać się z tym zbiorem, bo prawdopodobnie tylko będziecie sie męczyć. Jeśli zaś jak ja tęsknicie za Amani i jej przyjaciółmi (okazuje się, że ja trochę tak!) to z uśmiechem na ustach zanurzycie się w ich historie!

książka zdecydowanie, która powinno się przeczytać PO całej trylogii. można wyłapać wtedy dosyć wiele smaczków i o wiele lepiej poznać dane nam historię już z kontekstem z całej serii. liczyłam może na coś troszeczkę innego, nie rozczarowało mnie to ani nie zawiodło tylko oczekiwałam czegoś innego, a właściwie dostaliśmy taki misz masz różnych historii.jesli seria się komuś spodobała to uzupełnienie ją tym dodatkiem będzie jak najbardziej dobrym pomysłem.

I really enjoyed these short stories, I like delving more into the back stories of characters I know and love as well as the myths and legends that we've heard talked about. The only downside was it's still not enough for me. I want more from this world, I want to know everything lol.

Bardzo fajna, szczególnie dobrze czytałoby się ją jako wprowadzenie do serii, lepiej można byłoby się połapać w rodzinnych koligacjach itp., ale jako dodatek do całej trylogii też było super.

Tales from Sand & Sea is a collection of four short stories set within the Rebel of the Sands universe, all taking place before the start of the first book. It's been three months since I finished the last book in the trilogy but I was pleased to find that I could fall back easily into this world.
I don't think this book is necessarily essential reading if you have read the main books, mostly due to the fact that there isn't really any new information given about the characters or the world. Two of the four stories were just extended editions of tales that had been told within the main books already, which I didn't mind, because I enjoyed the full versions featured in this book. My favourite short story of the collection was the last: The Djinn and the Runaway - we don't get much insight into the character of Amani's mother in the main trilogy, which was nice to see here.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the Rebel of the Sands trilogy, and wants just that little bit more from this world.

Zdecydowanie za krótkie. Chętnie przeczytałabym więcej takich opowiastek 😍.
Lektura powinna się sprawdzić zarówno przed jak i po głównej trylogii, choć po stanowi świetne dopełnienie tych wszystkich legend i przeszłości bohaterów, a jako wprowadzenie do historii może wypaść blado i nie zachęcić do sięgnięcia po Buntowniczkę.
Polececam dla zainteresowanych tym, co nie zostało szczegółowo opisane w trylogii, a jedynie wspominane czy przytaczane w fragmentach.

Fajny dodatek do serii, ale nie obowiązkowy. Co więcej pisać- nie zachwycił nie wiadomo jak bardzo (może dlatego, że cała seria jakoś niezbyt mi się podobała), ale nie mogę powiedzieć, że był bezsensowny, bo fajnie było dowiedzieć się trochę więcej o tym świecie.

At the launch for Hero at the Fall, I got a goodie bag which contained Tales from Sand & Sea, this is four short stories from the history of Rebel of the Sands.
I really enjoyed reading this book and the short stories are the backstories I always wanted to know from Rebel, Traitor and Hero! I loved getting to know more about Jin and Ahmed, including about their mothers. Also about Princess Hawa and Attalah, and Amani's mother.
I would recommend this to anyone who can get their hands on it. 5 out of 5.
