Jamie Bond #5

Fatal Bond

Rate this book
From New York Times bestselling author Gemma Halliday and USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Fischetto comes a kidnapping gone wrong, an heiress undercover, and a Bond Girl torn between two men...

Her name is Bond. Jamie Bond. And this time, the stakes are personal...

Private investigator, Jamie Bond is used to danger—it's the name of her game. But when one of her past informants, an exotic dancer named Apple, goes missing, Jamie drops everything to find her. At first, Jamie suspects this may be a case of a weekend fling after a wild party at a Hollywood mogul's home. But it turns into something much more sinister when the movie mogul's daughter also appears to be kidnapped and a five million dollar ransom demand is made! Are the two missing women related? Which one of the movie mogul's angry associates is behind it? And can Jamie find Apple...before it's too late?

With the clock ticking, Jamie rallies her crew of Bond Girls to sort through a slew of suspects including a cagey caterer, a film producer with an axe to grind, and the movie mogul's former best friend turned worst enemy. To complicate matters, at the kidnapper's demand of "no law enforcement or she dies," Jamie can't breathe a word of her investigation to her on-again off-again love interest, ADA. Aiden Prince—just when things are heating up between them, despite Jamie's complicated feelings for her best friend, Danny Flynn. Torn between two men, racing against time, and tracking a cold-blooded killer, Jaime has the case of her life on her hands—complete with more twists and turns than an LA freeway! The only question is, can she solve it in time...or will it be Apple's life on the line?

This is one fantastic book! It certainly kept me on my toes. Jamie Bond and her team of Bond Girls are on the trail of whoever kidnapped their friend. I wanted the book to keep on going. Also, I love that Aiden and Danny both seem to want to be in Jamie’s life. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Ok so I liked the newest Bond book. However a few things. I’m already starting to get over this whole Jamie-Aiden-Danny love triangle. I’m Team Aiden because Danny is an overgrown man child who wears flip flops. Jamie needs to decide sooner or later and please for the love of god don’t drag this out to a Stephanie Plum love triangle.

I was a little confused on her jetting off to New Zealand but not actually speaking to Danny? Jamie is 29 (ish. Whatever the hell that means. If you’re 30 big deal. There’s no shame in actually growing older. It happens to everyone. This whole 29ish thing annoyed me quite a bit.) so you would think after running off to New Zealand to follow a guy she would actually speak to him even if she did see him in a compromising position. Also how was Jamie NOT jet lagged after coming back from New Zealand? Not only is the flight insanely long, but it’s a 21 hour time difference between New Zealand and Los Angeles 🙄.

Anyway, all in all another fun read by Gemma Halliday.

Jamie bond is called in when a former informant and night club dancer disappears at a party for a movie mogul. Meanwhile Jamie is trying to figure out if Apple's disappearance and the mogul's daughter being kidnapped around the same time. Things get serious when Jamie starts to get close and one of the kidnappers is found to have been killed himself.

This is another fun, and suspense filled story with danger and a few laughs along the way.

My only complaint about this story is Jamie is now twenty-nine, and she is acting like a fifteen year old with a crush on two different guys. It's time for her to man up and make a decision.

“Fatal Bond”earns 5/5 Candy Apples (tee-hee-hee)…Entertaining and Fun!

Shaken, Not Stirring Up Trouble…

One bit of drama after another has made Jamie’s first day back from vacation one for which she wished she’d never gotten out of bed. From a stain on her blouse to L.A. traffic, from a pair a sister-wives wanting their husband followed to a frantic visit from an exotic dancer…just another day in the life of an L.A. private-eye. Case File 1: Candy, an exotic dancer, is worried about her BFF/dance partner Apple who uncharacteristically missed her shift and her phone goes right to voicemail. Something is definitely wrong… Case File 2: Two sister-wives are concerned about their impulsive husband who seems to be “scouting” a new prospect, and are worried it might not be the right fit. Something is definitely suspicious… Ongoing: There's the complicated romantic triangle, her father’s surprise party plans, and a run-in with a band of pre-schoolers. Something is definitely entertaining…

This fifth book in the Jamie Bond series surpassed my expectations. I have always been a fan of Gemma Halliday, but I am a newbie of Jennifer Fischetto’s work. Together they made me a fan of Jamie Bond. I enjoyed their first-person narrative sharing Jamie’s inner thoughts and vivid descriptions along with banter that provided humor and glimpses of tone and personality. The all-female P.I. firm proves a pretty face is not just that. Jamie and her Bond Girls are clever and determined. Jamie’s childhood and relationship with her father has ups and downs making me seriously wonder…who’s the parent? And her dilemma over the two men who wish to be part of her life…a bit high-schoolish, but entertaining to follow. It seems newbies can start the series here. I was entertained, and although I know characters are established, there were no spoilers to ruin going back to the rest of the series.

I purchased the whole series as I am a big fan of Gemma Halliday's books and have never been let down. This was the first time I have been disappointed. Jamie is running her own company with fellow models. As the series progresses she debates starting a relationship with Danny who is a well established player. Not unlike her father. Aiden tries to start a relationship with her but she is too confused over Danny. She becomes a blond mess. Gemma's series are known for strong independent women. What happened? Danny is her father all over again. I hope she clears up this mess with the next book. Not her typical series.

Omg... so it's the first time I learnt Jamie's age. She's 29. 29. After all these books, I only get a concrete number now.

I really enjoyed the mystery in this book, and also the fun moments in between. Some very interesting developments happening.

Though really, I like it so much more when Danny backs off. But he's so hot and cold and I dislike how much he's jerking Jamie around/Jamie circling around him, and no one communicating like the adults that they are. At least Aiden and Jamie attempt to talk about their situations.

An ingenious way to present a detective and her agency. Jamie Bond and her Bond Girls are hired to find a kidnapper while they are looking for a missing person in another case. Mystery and mayhem make this an interesting read.

Very enjoyable, but I knew who did it within the first few chapters. Maybe I’ve just read too many of her books?

Jamie Bond is a PI, former model, and has an agency with other former models. Mostly a mystery with a tiny bit of romance. Reminds me of a Janet Evonovich book.
