Getting Dirty

Rate this book
Perfection isn’t always so perfect.

All I’ve done since I was seventeen is try to prove my father wrong.

Try to prove I am better than him and his perfect lineage. His perfect name.

Anyone who has gotten in my way of attaining that goal I consider collateral damage.

Now my life has spiraled so far out of my control, I’m free falling, and for whatever reason Jess and Jace feel like a safe haven.

They’re not. They're two blips from my past. And that’s where I should have left them.

We come from different worlds.

Whatever we have can only exist in this moment.

They’re just two dirty mechanics.

And I’ve spent my whole life avoiding

getting dirty.

Getting Dirty is the stand alone first book in the Hard n’ Dirty series. Madeline’s life is literally falling apart and after the death of her father, work is forcing her to go home and take a break. At a loss of what to do while back at home, she runs into two familiar faces, brothers Jess and Jace, while they work on her car. The attraction is instant, as is the hate from Jace, and two distractions from her life sound like the perfect medication. But, she doesn’t want messy, Madeline just wants fun, so when emotions start to run high and she has a reason to return back to New York, will she stay where she feels safe and comforted, or will she continue to chase after her lonely dreams?

Wow, this book was intense, full of emotions, and deliciously filthy! I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where the main female character is so full of anger and hurt, stubbornness and yearning for what she’s never had. I was blown away by Madeline, by her drive, and by her refusal to look closely at her own needs. I loved Jess and Jace. They were so different from each other, with different personalities and drives, but I loved that they could be united when it came to Madeline! Together, the three of them were, phew, hot hot hot! There was some pretty intense scenes and I absolutely loved how hate played into their relationship and steamy scenes. The plot line definitely kept me interested, with so much happening to Madeline, and I couldn’t stop reading this book to find out everything that would happen to the three of these characters! I loved this book and look forward to the other books in this series!

Nobody💃💋 Can Be This Awkward!

Alpha Males 🐺🐺🍆🌋Adult Romantic Comedy💋

This started out interesting with Madeline💃💋, the executive woman in this three way love affair, being sent on extended leave after the death💀 of her father and a mental breakdown.
In the first chapter, She falls down about five times. What kind of klutz is this woman?

She must go back to her small Mayberry type town to settle her father's affairs and the funeral. While Driving her father's old GTO muscle car, it of course breaks down and she has to walk and stumble her way into town. The garage is still owned by the Wallace family, only now it's just the two brothers, Jess🐺🍆🌋👋 and Jace.🐺🍆🌋

Of course the two Irish Twin🐺🐺 brothers are still single, supremely handsome, built, and sexy, but they seem different as night and day.
Jace🐺🍆🌋 is a tatted up bad boy with a chip on his shoulder about Madeline💃💋 since high school. Jess🐺🍆🌋👋 is just a very sexy sweet bad boy that always wanted Madeline💃💋, too. Now Is his chance!

Is Madeline💃💋 going to be into sharing? Her personal agenda says she's only staying another week. How is that going to work out?
Jess🐺🍆🌋👋 is a wanna be Spankmeister👋👋, too!

Maybe the klutzy Madeline💃💋 will fall again, but it will be for the two brothers!

ARC Received via Booksprout.
I also got The book📑 with KU.

Fun book! Love the back and forth and one upmanship between the brothers🐺🐺 and Madeline💃💋!

So, several authors have gotten together to create some books around a particular theme. Pretty sure that I'm all for it. And I am definitely all for this down and dirty second-chance menage with almost twin brothers. Because daaannnnggg. These boys are foine.

Madeline has spent her entire life being perfect and trying to make her father proud. Not only does she want to make her father proud, she wants to surpass him. But when he dies, her life starts to fall apart. It falls apart to the point where she destroys her office and gets put on an involuntary leave of absence, then ends up in the hospital with a nervous breakdown. She has to go to the tiny town were she spent her teen years so that she can finish with her father's business and sell his house. But then the car she's using breaks down. She hikes to a garage, and that's where she sees Jess again.

Jess and his brother Jace aren't quite twins. They are 11 months apart, so they've always been in the same grade at school, and they shared all kinds of things, including females. But recently, they've been going their own ways and there has been some friction. When Madeline walks into his garage, Jess is thrilled, he always had a crush on her, so he doctors her injuries, gets her all hot and bothered, and then asked her out on a date. Just as his brother Jace walks in.

Jace is considerably less than thrilled to see Madeline. They were friends, but then she stood him up and ripped him apart. Now he wants nothing to do with her rich and prissy self, but certain parts of his body don't quite get the idea.

I liked Jess from the beginning, but I had a hard time warming up to Jace. He seemed to purposely act like an ash-hole to both Jess and Maddy. I'm not saying that he didn't have good reasons, but he was kind of overly over to her sometimes. But, I love the story, and I love the 3 of them, even when Jace is being a jerk. He just has thick walls to break down.

Man, I loved this story. I have never read Aubrey Cara before and I didn't read the blurb either, to be honest. I read this story because it is part of the Hard N' Dirty series. So I just drove right in and I am so happy I did. I got some great freaking characters and a wonderful story.

The brothers were amazing and Madeline is a headcase. But Jace and Jess bring out the best in Madeline and she needs them so badly but refuses to accept it. That is what makes this story so wonderful. The push and pull between them all. This is a must read book and a great start to this standalone series.

Got to 60% and really couldn’t get over that Jace would move that quickly with Madeline and for her…the first time…not tasteful, the second time…deplorable and knowing that Jess was meeting with her in minutes.

When Jess said that he hadn’t planned on sharing her at all sealed the book’s fate for me. (Jace knew Jess was interested in Madeline. And I don’t care that they shared women in the past)

I’m all for ménage’s but the author made two of the characters who unquestionably had no loyalties, no regrets, no shame, pitiful excuses for humans in my opinion. I’ve read better alpha-hole books with less heinous atrocities

If I was Jess I would of quite literally fucked her mouth hard, punch my brother (several times), kicked him in the junk and tell them both to get out of my shop and not wanting to see either of them again.

I wish Jess had a backbone like that. It might of made me continue reading it.

The title says it all!
Madeline is a cut throat career woman who has worked her way to the top, but then things go south.
Jace and Jess are a couple of mechanics from the wrong side of the tracks. Jace is the moody, motorcycle-building bad-boy while Jess is the empathetic and laid-back, but they are both hardcore alpha. Madeline doesn't know what hit her when these two get ahold of her....literally! I liked the story and all the testosterone. There were a few editing errors, but the story was good enough it still deserves 5 stars.

Aubrey Cara delivers in "Getting Dirty"!

Aubrey Cara maintains her deft touch with characters in “Getting Dirty”, and delivers well-developed, complex, and consistent protagonists. What I particularly enjoy about Ms. Cara’s writing is her ability to keep her characters feeling like real people. She allows them to convey their thoughts and feelings without becoming bogged down in endless internal dialogue and angst.

“Getting Dirty” kicks off with Madeline, normally an exceedingly capable workaholic, exhibiting cracks in her otherwise controlled existence when she is forced to take an extended leave of absence and return to her hometown to deal with her late father’s estate. Though at the start I worried that Madeline was going to be a dislikable character - all the makings of an uptight, self-absorbed, status-obsessed brat were there - Ms. Cara revealed hidden depths in her heroine without turning her into someone pathetically whiny or weak. When Madeline encounters a couple of former classmates, brothers Jess and Jace (both of whom have a bit of an axe to grind with her), she holds her own admirably and humorously, even when they think they have the upper hand.

As more of Madeline’s life starts to implode around her, the steam picks up - and it gets hot! In “Getting Dirty”, as with several other of her stories, when the characters delve into D/s dynamics, it feels like it develops organically - i.e. not in a fantasy club or resort setting, but rather in the characters’ own environment, which contributes to my enjoyment of the story. There were a few moments while reading when I found myself squirming due to a scene that felt like it pushed the boundaries of dubious consent, but Ms. Cara pulled it off in what felt like an authentic manner.

The reader gets insight into the main characters and their perceptions of each other - the story shifts between first-person point of view for each character, both past and present; Ms. Cara did a good job making the transitions clear. There were a few things missed in proof-reading (extra words, wrong word, or wrong tense), but not so many that it prevented me from enjoying the story. I can’t wait for Ms. Cara's next work!

Madeline really needs to relax. Her father has died and she is told by her company to take some R&R. That is something that Madeline does not like to do. Jess and Jace Wallace have known Maddie since High School. They worked at their dad’s garage and were on the “wrong side of town.” But there is unfinished business between them all.

Madeline is cold but that has a lot to do with her past and her secret that she has kept. I don’t really believe that Maddie is what she portrays. She needs guidance more than she does being an ice queen. Jess may look sweet and charming but that man has a kinky side to him. As much as Maddie loves control, Jess loves it more and well deserved. Jace is hard core but a lot of it is him brooding about the past with Maddie that he knows nothing about. He also is rough and seductive. These guys together are explosive. You would think only one is more Dom then the other but NOPE, they are BOTH. How hot is that.

I have to say Maddie’s world does take a major dive. You would think it wouldn’t be that bad but it is. If it wasn’t for Jess & Jace I don’t know what she would have done.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own. Even though I enjoyed this book there were some things I was confused about. Like this is suppose to be a second chance at love story which by the way I'm a sucker for but the couple mention in the story was never officially a couple. Two I really didn't understand why Madeline work so hard to prove her father wrong. Once she found out the truth you could already see that she had lost all respect for the person she call father. Now on to Madeline I'm not really sure if I really like her or not her action was always contradicting. Well overall I like the book well enough wasn't much in the drama department but that didn't take away from the story plus who doesn't love a great ménage story. Looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series.

This was a hot story with big decisions being made in Madelines life as a workaholic proving to the world that she is the best and can conquer anything in her path until she goes back home to face her demons when it all shatters at her feet and her past comes back with Jess and Jace the two sexy mechanics that she cant take her eyes off, one very controlling and one just full of revenge. I loved it watching them go through the motions of what was right and wrong and am I better and some was not pretty and it was intense at times but what do you do when your life has changed 100% in the blink of an eye, you go with it you have no choice. I loved the struggle and seeing the different sides of the characters, it was sexy, hot and full of steam.

Loved reading t his wonderful story, the first book in the Hard n Dirty collection, started off with a bang.
Madelines father has died, not that she has been close to him in the last few years, but now her bosses have sent her on vacation. Finally back home her car breaks down and she walks the last few miles into town to the local garage, hoping to get her car towed and fixed. But she encounters Jess and Jace Wallace known as the bad boys. She has a past with them from School days.
Before long she is been dominated by both bad boys, hard fast, and anyway they want.

Get ready ladies this book requires your undivided attention. Aubrey Cara certainly knows how to write a kick ass story.

Madeline is strong and can take care of herself but she’s not a harpy or any other cliché. Her character is well written and relatable. She’s tough and can easily go toe to toe with wealthy Alphaholes in hedge fund and international business circles without being an artificially constructed character who’s supposed to be “strong” but is really just spoiled and demanding

I was relieved the locals aren’t those painful “quirky” or “closeminded bigot” stereotypes that can infect small town romances. Those kinds of painful portrayals can quickly ruin good books.

My only real quibble is that it’s unusual for men and women in their late thirties to have never married and be childless, especially for two promiscuous, rebellious, bad boy mechanics like Jess and Jace. I know this is fiction, but I found myself wondering why a few times.

Getting Dirty – Aubrey Cara – Madeline has a small nervous breakdown after her father dies. She trashes her office, gets put on leave, ends up in the hospital after fainting, tries to meddle from her hometown at work and gets herself fired, and her mother’s lake house gets vandalized. So it’s a good thing the mechanics who rescue her when her father’s classic car breaks down are old…friends/enemies. Jess had a secret crush on her in high school, but Jace is the one who got his heart broken by her 17 year old self. So now Madeline has to decide if she has the guts to start over after everything she has worked for falls apart, and if her life has enough room for both Jess and Jace. Happy Reading!

I loved this book! Madeline has come back home to settle her father’s affairs but not before having a complete meltdown at her job. Upon arrival in town her car breaks down. She walk to the auto repair shop and runs into Jess and Jace. It’s been fifteen years since she’s seen them. Jace had the hots for her in high school but after a disastrous night he still thinks she a spoiled little rich girl. There is a deep attraction between the three of them. Will Madeline be to high maintenance for the two hot mechanics? This book is steamy! I love the bantering between them it made the book fun to read.

Madeline is a powerful businesswoman who worked hard and fought her way to the top. Having a bit of a fall from grace, she's forced into taking some time off which finds her back in her 'hometown' to clean up her father's estate. Having car problems on her way back to the beach house, Madeline finds herself walking since her cell phone doesn't work. Once getting to town and the garage, she see's that Jess and Jace have taken over the garage...and also that they aren't exactly what she was picturing in her mind that they would be.

Hot sexy read with two demanding hot brothers, a prissy chick that figures out that the top is lonely and the fall is hard, and two is better than one.

I love the 2nd chance scenario in a good romance story. Madeline has history with Jace from their high school days, so when she comes back to town many years later, it’s not a huge surprise that sparks fly. What she hadn’t counted on was Jace’s brother Jess. The guys she used to think she was so far above might actually be exactly what she needs, if she can get out of her own way.

This story was sweet, hot, dirty, sexy, funny, and ultimately worthy of a re-read! I’ve read several books by this author and this is my favorite so far.

Getting Dirty is the first book n the Hard N Dirty series, which is written bya number of different authors (They're all great authors though, and I plan on continuing to read this series. ) This menage romance is a stand alone in the series. It's kind of a second chance romance, when Madeline returns home after her father's death, car trouble puts her in the path of mechanics Jace and Jess, two brothers from her past.

I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting, and it did not disappoint! The three main characters were so fleshed out, and I fell in love with all of them. The love story was sweet, but the sexytimes soooooo very dirty, which is my favorite combination. To be honest, it's what I expect from the author who gave us the Monrok Warriors. Great work, Aubrey Cara!!

Kind of a variation on the normal meme, the heroine leaves home and becomes the millionaire then comes home and hooks up with the old high school love interest (times 2). This is a fun quick read about second chances, alpha males, menage and opposites attracting. I enjoyed it, the characters were well drawn and the story flowed well with some BDSM elements.

Maddie is back to the town she grew up in to handle some personal business when she runs into Jess and Jace. They are the brothers she never thought she'd see again. What happens next is definitely something worth reading! I love the way this sexy, emotional, well written book sucks you in, and kept me engaged to the very end!

Hot and spicy

Madeline was a mess. Jace, a blast from the past and Jesse, so totally different.
Madeline thinks she has to be superwoman to be successful, until she loses it. Going home for her fathers funeral, brings up a lot of old emotions. Jess and Jace help her come to terms with her life.
This story was fast paced, hot, spicy and sexy with some emotions turmoil.
I loved it because it was all that and more. I would definitely recommend this story and this series.

I enjoyed most of this book. It was pretty simple for a romance novel with no real complication, but it was well written.

The only thing I didn't like was how the hero's responded to the heroines distress. I feel like she went through a lot of trauma in a short amount of time and the boys were like... Sex? And then they never really discussed her traumas again.

All in all, a very simple and expected romance, nice for a weekend read :)

This is my first book by Aubrey Cara and I really enjoyed reading this book. The Jess and Jace characters are spot on. I loved the fact the heroine was a go-getter and that she didn't just mysteriously get a lobotomy when she met the guys. Nope

Awesomely dirty

Second chance romance, two brothers with one woman. These aren’t things I usually enjoy, but the author did such a great job, I really liked it despite my usual preferences!
