"Words that Split the Sketches from a Prophetic Life" is a collection of short stories from the journals of C.W. Steinle. These episodes prove that God is real and that He hears and answers prayers. God is able to guide our lives and to give supernatural strength in order to show Himself strong and a present help in times of trouble.
The book is not intended to present a complete autobiography of the author. God began revealing unexplainable knowledge to CW during his Childhood. These sketches document a lifelong journey in hearing and following the voice of the Lord. The stories are briefly but colorfully presented. Enough background and detail is included so that the reader can easily visualize these real life experiences. The book achieves its two main to overwhelmingly demonstrate the power of God, and to boldly challenge the reader to respond. A secondary thread of prophecy regarding the Book of Revelation is documented in the closing stories.
Excerpts - [ I wonder why it should be thought incredible to anyone that the omniscient God, who is outside of time, should impart knowledge of the past, present, and future to anyone He chooses. I know from a lifetime of experience that God does reveal such knowledge - even today. During my childhood and young adult life I was given knowledge of current events that I couldn't have physically known about; and, I received knowledge of future events which were subsequently fulfilled. These revelations were so common to me by my teenage years that I assumed they were a normal part of life.
There is a misunderstanding today of the gift of prophecy. The purpose of all spiritual gifts is to build up the body of Christ. What is termed 'progressive' or 'further' revelation can only serve to tear down what God has already built. The Early Church protected itself against such erosion by developing orthodoxy and establishing creeds. These creeds declared in minimal form the essential doctrines of the Godhead, of salvation, and of the Church. The first and most basic creed was the Old Roman Symbol. This creed must have existed before the Third Century because it is cited in the Second Century writings of Irenaeus and Tertullian. I believe in God the Father almighty; and in Christ Jesus His only Son, our Lord, Who was born from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, Who under Pontius Pilate was crucified and buried, on the third day rose again from the dead, ascended to heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, whence He will come to judge the living and the dead; and in the Holy Spirit, the holy Church, the remission of sins, the resurrection of the flesh the life everlasting
These simple and straightforward professions were the gatekeepers of the Christian Church up until the Nineteenth Century. That is when the strangest professions began to clutter this simple statement of faith. If every Christian Church in the world - the truly Universal Church - would revert to these simple foundations; only the curse of denominational pride would be lost. Then the glorious bride of Christ might be found fit and ready for Christ's return. But sadly, once a statement of faith has been expanded it becomes as irreversible as the code of the Medes and Persians. Two of the new theological additions pertain to prophecy. One addresses the gift of prophecy, and the other redefines end-times prophecy. But what exactly is the Bible's definition of prophecy?
Prophecy has nothing to do with adding to, or altering, the Word of God. Agabus is mentioned twice in the New Testament by the title of prophet. Both of his prophecies concerned future events. Agabus predicted a worldwide famine in Acts 11:28. Then in Acts 29:11 he used Paul's belt to foretell that Paul would be bound by the Jews in Jerusalem. These prophecies were fulfilled by the time the Bible was written. ] -end excerpts
